1. In the cyclic deformation of titanium alloy, we observe a marked increase in lifetime in the case of tests in vacuum. Apparently loading in vacuum gives more uniform distribution of plastic deformation in these conditions. 2. If the surface is prehardened by rolling, vacuum has almost no effect on the lifetime of the alloy under cyclic deformation. 3. The increase of lifetime at low temperatures and the experimental method involve an increase in the static strength of the alloy. In these conditions the main contribution to the lifetime is made by the initial stages of the process of fatigue failure up to the formation of macrofissures.
