Obstáculos y perspectivas al emplear tecnologías de información para enseñar contabilidad

Objetivo: describir los obstáculos y perspectivas docentes al emplear tecnologías de información como herramientas innovadoras para enseñar contabilidad en una institución universitaria. Método: descriptivo, considerando como unidades informantes ocho (8) docentes del área contable que representan un 80% de la población total a los cuales se les aplicó una encuesta estructurada durante noviembre 2018. Resultados: a) usar tecnologías de información en la enseñanza de contabilidad así como en la vida personal del docente, b) de programas en red para contribuir al desarrollo de habilidades, c) el desarrollo de contenidos que estén disponibles para ser usados en línea y d) la incorporación de las tecnologías de información en los procesos de enseñanza bajo criterios psicopedagógicos arrojaron resultados dentro del rango 1,00-1,75 correspondiente a la opción totalmente de acuerdo. La infraestructura tecnológica en la institución se ubicó en el rango 1,76-2,50 cuya opción de respuesta es medianamente de acuerdo. Discusión/Conclusiones: no existen obstáculos significativos para el empleo de tecnologías de información en el proceso de enseñanza contable, salvo la necesidad de ampliar la infraestructura tecnológica para dar cobertura a todos los estudiantes. Las perspectivas de los docentes al usar estas herramientas innovadoras son alcanzadas, aunque se deben fortalecer los criterios psicopedagógicos para su incorporación.

Patrones de la producción académica colombiana en Economía y Administración (1974-mayo 2014): un análisis bibliométrico basado en Scopus

En este artículo se identifican y exponen las tendencias más importantes y distintivas de la producción académica en Economía y Administración para el período comprendido entre enero de 1974 y mayo de 2014. Para ello se emplearán indicadores bibliométricos descriptivos, como lo son: volumen de la producción, tipología de documentos, idiomas de escritura, número de citaciones, filiación institucional de los autores, fuentes, principales revistas (González-Pereira, Guerrero-Bote y Moya, 2009) y los índices H, G, R, i10 y A (Hirsch, 2005; Egghe, 2006, Jin, Liang, Rousseau y Egghe, 2007, Túñez López y de Pablos Coello, 2013); y se considerarán los registros encontrados en el índice bibliográfico Scopus asociados a la producción de autores cuya filiación institucional sea una entidad colombiana.

Modelling strategic management for the development of competitive advantage, based on technology

Purpose – The purpose of this research work is to find a methodology for the strategic development of competitive advantage for information technology (IT) companies (Mezger and Violani, 2011). The ultimate aim of this project is to develop a methodological approach on this issue, based on dynamic simulation models (DSM) (Wirahadikusumah and Abraham, 2003). With the aid of DSM, senior managements of organizations will have the opportunity to make decisions of assured success. This success shall be guaranteed by the realization of entrepreneurial activity in a safe and inexpensive computing environment before actual investment. Design/methodology/approach – This paper highlights the advantages of the dynamic modelling of systems aiming at developing competitive advantage for IT companies (Ordóñez de Pablos, 2006). In this research, we have used the science of design and the research methodology for testing the concept of modelling as well as the process of modelling. The models have been completed through a series of alternations and iterations in the design, development, simulation, testing and evaluation. Findings – This paper examines the interface among several dimensions for the development of dynamic models. The validity and usefulness of those models in the process of decision-making has been confirmed by the usage of dynamic models in various sectors. Originality/value – This paper applies the system and the concepts of dynamic modelling, which are pioneering elements as to their nature and evolution. Although the sector, where the modelling was applied, is an IT company, the concepts and principles investigated, developed and validated can be applied to most enterprises.

Los límites de lo que es información parecen estar bien delimitados. Sin embargo, a la hora de presentar un mensaje, el periodista tiene el deber de contrastar y preguntar cuando sea oportuno. Es algo que a menudo se olvida, incluso en los grandes medios de referencia. El catedrático de Periodismo de la Universidad de La Laguna José Manuel de Pablos quiere hacer hincapié en estas carencias que convierten a los grandes medios en servidores de nadie y promotores del amarillismo más descarado. José Manuel de Pablos es también doctor por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Allí, en Madrid ha podido formarse como profesional. Siendo su recorrido amplio, pasando por director de prensa en Canarias, ha podido constatar graves errores –no solo de estilo– en diarios de referencia en España como son El País, Abc o El Mundo. Ha querido advertir al lector de estas prácticas en su libro “Periodismo es preguntar”.

Guía de selección de erp en las pequeñas y medianas empresas mexicanas

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are information system characterised by having a shared database for all the company’s departments. Organisations use ERP sys- tems to manage their data and help improve decision-making. However, recent studies show that 92% of ERP projects do not end in success (De Pablos Heredero and De Pablos Heredero, 2009). This paper aims to design a guide to ERP selection for Mexican SMEs. It starts with a review of the scientific literature, which is divided into methodological proposals, case studies, micro-sociological studies, and critical success factors for ERP projects. To complement our theoretical study we interviewed consultants, users and ERP project experts, who supported our conception of this issue at local level. Finally, we designed an ERP selection guide.

Neuroprotection by Minocycline Caused by Direct and Specific Scavenging of Peroxynitrite

Minocycline prevents oxidative protein modifications and damage in disease models associated with inflammatory glial activation and oxidative stress. Although the drug has been assumed to act by preventing the up-regulation of proinflammatory enzymes, we probed here its direct chemical interaction with reactive oxygen species. The antibiotic did not react with superoxide or (•)NO radicals, but peroxynitrite (PON) was scavenged in the range of ∼1 μm minocycline and below. The interaction of pharmacologically relevant minocycline concentrations with PON was corroborated in several assay systems and significantly exceeded the efficacy of other antibiotics. Minocycline was degraded during the reaction with PON, and the resultant products lacked antioxidant properties. The antioxidant activity of minocycline extended to cellular systems, because it prevented neuronal mitochondrial DNA damage and glutathione depletion. Maintenance of neuronal viability under PON stress was shown to be solely dependent on direct chemical scavenging by minocycline. We chose α-synuclein (ASYN), known from Parkinsonian pathology as a biologically relevant target in chemical and cellular nitration reactions. Submicromolar concentrations of minocycline prevented tyrosine nitration of ASYN by PON. Mass spectrometric analysis revealed that minocycline impeded nitrations more effectively than methionine oxidations and dimerizations of ASYN, which are secondary reactions under PON stress. Thus, PON scavenging at low concentrations is a novel feature of minocycline and may help to explain its pharmacological activity.

The Listeria monocytogenes Sortase-B Recognizes Varied Amino Acids at Position 2 of the Sorting Motif

Sortases are bacterial enzymes that anchor surface proteins covalently to the peptidoglycan upon cleavage of a motif located at their C-terminal end. Motifs recognized by sortases of the class-B (SrtB) are defined by the consensus sequence NP(Q/K)(T/S)(N/G/S)(D/A). Evidence supporting this consensus is limited to IsdC of Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis, cleaved at motifs NPQTN and NPKTG, respectively. In Listeria monocytogenes, StrB has two substrates, Lmo2185 and Lmo2186, containing NAKTN and NKVTN (or the overlapping sequence NPKSS) as putative sorting motifs. Some of these motifs do not match the consensus, because they lack either proline (P) at position 2 or glutamine/lysine (Q/K) at position 3. Here, we identified NPKSS as a sorting motif of Lmo2186 by monitoring anchoring to peptidoglycan of chimeras lacking each of its two predicted motifs. Motif-swapping experiments confirmed that NPKSS, but not NKVTN, could replace NAKTN for anchoring of an Lmo2185 chimera. Residue substitutions in the NPKSS sequence revealed the essentiality of proline at position 2 for recognition of this particular motif. Lysine at position 3 was however dispensable. Deletion of NAKTN, on the other hand, abrogated SrtB-mediated anchoring of the Lmo2185 chimera. NAKTN, therefore, represents an exception to the rule of a conserved proline in position 2 of the sorting motif. Taken together, our data indicate that proline is not absolutely required for substrate recognition by sortases of the class-B. In addition, they prove the capacity of a single sortase, as SrtB of L. monocytogenes, to recognize varied amino acids at position 2 of the sorting motif.
