PASCAL PALU RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SOCIAL ORGANIZATION AND ECOSYSTEM IN THE SOULETINE SHEPHERDING SOCIETY (French Basque province) The current landscapes of the Soule' s mountains (province of the French Basque country), along with many aspects of their exploitation by man, are a constant reminder of a mountain ecosystem, which reflects a genuinely «ecological civilisation», and links biological cycles and human circles in a single process of asymmetric rotation. The theoretical frame presented in this short paper introduces a research on these shepherding societies.
