Theoretical Framework: The study is based on the principles of cultural semiotics. Lotman claimed that in the symbolic type of culture, the part is homeomorphic to the whole. This principle is applied to education. It is considered as a part reflecting the processes occurring in society as a whole. Method: The article is written on the material of a survey of first-year students of The Kosygin State University of Russia.
