Causes of Sexual Crimes in Afghanistan and Ways to Prevent Them

Sexual crimes significantly undermine the cultural and moral fabric of society. Similar to other types of crime, these offenses have identifiable causes that must be understood to effectively prevent their occurrence. Recognizing the importance of addressing the root causes of sexual crimes in Afghanistan is crucial for fostering social development, stability, and intellectual and cultural security. This article aims to identify the underlying causes of sexual crimes in Afghan society and propose measures for their prevention, which have contributed to the rise of such offenses. To conduct this research, both library resources and internet sources were utilized. The investigation revealed three primary categories of causes for sexual crimes in Afghanistan: family-related factors, personal issues, and broader social influences. Addressing these factors is essential for formulating effective prevention strategies.

Strategic integration of cyber security in business intelligence systems for data protection and competitive advantage

In the current world, business intelligence systems play a crucial role in guiding organizations on the best strategies to adopt depending on the analytical information and results obtained (Ahmad et al., 2020). Nonetheless, they are being used frequently and, hence, are vulnerable to ransom attacks, requiring appropriate security measures. This study examines the opportunities for BI solution providers to implement cybersecurity, mitigate risks, and gain competitive advantage. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach to the research involving a literature review study, self-complete questionnaires, interviews, and case studies among a variable of industry professionals. The observation in this research process shows that incorporating enhanced encryption methods, two-factor verification, monitoring, and security culture advancements leads to increased data security levels. Furthermore, apart from defending an organization from cyber-threats, properly implementing cyber security in BI systems ensures that an organization acquires better customer trust, compliance with regulations, and a competitive edge in the market. This paper outlines vital tactics and best practices businesses can apply to enhance, design, and implement robust cybersecurity strategies for organizational benefit. This research aims at the following question; How can cybersecurity be integrated in Business Intelligence (BI) systems considering the facts that businesses are adopting data-driven strategies in the current century? Since more organizations opt for BI systems to collect pertinent information and generate strategic decisions, the systems named remain vulnerable to grabs and threats. Similarly, the research on the role of cyber security is a prime example to show how it need not to be a risk factor but in fact could be a key strength.

Landscape design of urban culture transmission based on the regional information security of Internet of Things

In the context of the rapid development of Internet of Things technology, urban cultural communication and information security have become a new focus in the field of landscape design. This paper innovatively discusses the landscape design of urban cultural communication based on Internet of Things regional information security, aiming at building a safe and culturally rich urban landscape environment. Taking the unique regional culture of Zhangjiajie as an example, this study evaluated the cultural communication effect of landscape design under information security guarantee through in-depth case analysis and field investigation, combined with Internet of Things information security technology. The results show that the cluster head node strategy has significant advantages in resisting physical capture attacks, especially when the number of sensor nodes captured is less than 2000, the information loss rate is less than 0.1. This discovery not only improves the level of information security in the Internet of Things environment, but also provides technical support for the effective dissemination of urban culture. In addition, through the detailed analysis and evaluation of landscape, this study further reveals the important role of landscape design in regional cultural inheritance. To sum up, this study not only provides a new perspective for urban landscape design, but also provides practical guidance for the protection and dissemination of urban culture in the era of Internet of Things.

On the factors of students' cybersecurity behavior

The article is an exploratory research on the security awareness of university students in the light of various sociodemographic factors. Information technology, and information security in particular, plays a critical role in this context. Awareness is a fundamental component of security preparedness because it empowers individuals to recognize and respond to security threats and fosters a security culture. By educating students and teachers about the importance of security and best practices, educational organizations can significantly enhance their overall security posture. The article points out that raising awareness of information security is not a simple task and requires a systematic approach. In this respect, education has both the potential and the responsibility to develop an information security mindset. The results of the article show that although the average response value of 3.735 suggests a security-aware attitude, the significant difference between the minimum and maximum values indicates a high variability. Looking in more detail at information security factors, the article reveals that law students are more cautious about protecting personal data, while IT and engineering students are more open to online banking and shopping.

Operațiile tactice în mediul montan, în contextul cerințelor câmpului de luptă contemporan

Integrarea noilor tehnologii la nivelul operațiilor militare afectează întregul proces al acestora, imprimându-le o serie de particularități, modelând, totodată, caracterul războiului. Precizia și raza lungă de acțiune a noilor sisteme de armament, utilizarea extensivă a senzorilor multispectrali, îmbunătățirea permanentă a relației sensor-to-shooter, dezvoltarea capabilităților fără pilot sunt doar câteva dintre realitățile câmpului de luptă modern. În acest context,marcat de o schimbare de paradigmă în ceea ce privește relația manevră – foc – protecție, se pune întrebarea dacă operațiile militare executate în mediul montan își mai păstrează relevanța în ecuația câmpului de luptă contemporan.De regulă, limitate spațial, acest tip de operații sunt supuse transformării din perspectivă doctrinară și operațională. În acest sens, printr-o explorare longitudinală și interpretativă a operațiilor terestre, dar și printr-o analiză calitativă a cerințelor câmpului de luptă contemporan, am identificat și am descris repere în ceea ce privește adaptarea forțelor de vânători de munte și a operațiilor executate de către acestea.

Trends and challenges in research into the human aspects of ransomware: a systematic mapping study

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the trends and challenges relating to research into the human aspects of ransomware. Design/methodology/approach A systematic mapping study was carried out to investigate the trends in studies into the human aspects of ransomware, identify challenges encountered by researchers and propose directions for future research. For each of the identified papers from this study, the authors mapped the year of publication, the type of paper, research strategy and data generation method, types of participants included, theories incorporated and lastly, the authors mapped the challenges encountered by the researchers. Findings Fifty-nine papers published between 2006 and 2022 are included in the study. The findings indicate that literature on the human aspects of ransomware was scarce prior to 2016. The most-used participant groups in this area are students and cybersecurity professionals, and most studies rely on a survey strategy using the questionnaire to collect data. In addition, many papers did not use theories for their research, but from those that did, game theory was used most often. Furthermore, the most reported challenge is that being hit with ransomware is a sensitive topic, which results in individuals and organisations being reluctant to share their experiences. Research limitations/implications This mapping study reveals that the body of literature in the area of human aspects of ransomware has increased over the past couple of years. The findings highlight that being transparent about ransomware attacks, when possible, can help others. Moreover, senior management plays an important role in shaping the information security culture of an organisation, whether to have a culture of transparency or of secrecy. Originality/value This study is the first of its kind of systematic mapping studies contributing to the body of knowledge on the human aspects of ransomware.

Smart socio-technological infrastructures: cyber security risks and the human factor

Smart socio-technological infrastructure is a new approach to the design and creation of complex systems, based on the integration of technological and social elements. Currently, smart sociotechnological infrastructures are applied in all spheres of life, from business and industry to healthcare and medical facilities. The implementation of these infrastructures creates new opportunities for the development of various fields. However, it causes a number of problems. The reasons for new information security problems arising from the characteristics of smart sociotechnological infrastructures may include the increase in the number of devices (the number of devices interacting with each other increases, which expands the potential attack plane), the complexity of integration (the integration of social and technological components leads to the creation of new vulnerabilities), data heterogeneity (where the processing and storage of various types of information, including confidential information, make them an attractive target for cybercriminals), the dynamism of the environment (smart socio-technological infrastructures are constantly evolving and adapting, which makes it difficult to ensure their security). This article examines information security problems of smart socio-technological infrastructures. New threats arising from the introduction of these infrastructures are classified. The development of information security culture is justified as one of the main factors of combating these threats, and recommendations are given on the principles and methods of its formation.

The Deficit of Safety Culture in the Creation of the Economic Aspect of Social Reality

The article focuses on different aspects of economic security. The author considers what kind of impact the economic sciences have on human’s culture and security culture. Economic security is described with security culture model. The article points out the role of anthropological perspective in economics, and shows which criteria are used in this field. It criticizes lack of socio-cultural perspective. The article describes also the phenomenon of consumerism and its negative impact on society.

Management of Food Security Culturization in Nature Elementary Schools: Policy, Learning, and Student Engagement

Food insecurity affects every aspect of student development. Cultivating food security through education can be implemented through the culturization of food security in nature schools, and it is encouraged to be managed at the elementary level. Research relating to differences in the influence of nature school management on food security has not yet been found. This research aims to analyze the differences in the influence of general and Islamic school management on the culturization of food security. This research used a quantitative approach with a multivariate analysis of variance method using SPSS software. Data were collected using questionnaires of 20 items consisting of three aspects: school policy, learning activity, and student engagement. The participants were 28 principals and representatives in 15 nature elementary schools in West Java Province, Indonesia. The respondents were chosen from a population of nature elementary school principals using purposive sampling. The sampling encompasses the distribution of nature elementary schools based on types of school management and their distributive location. The result of the multivariate test shows a value of 0,260 0.05. This result means that different types of school management have an insignificant impact on the culturization of food security. The weakest aspect is school policy, with a mean score of 15.93, while learning activity and student engagement obtain a mean score of 27.25 and 27.50 for each. These findings imply that school policy in nature elementary schools must be improved to support a food security culture.

TA for human security: Aligning security cultures with human security in AI innovation

This research article addresses the growing concerns about digital technologies and artificial intelligence and their impact on human security. It explores the inadequacies of current digital technology regulation in protecting fundamental human rights. The authors present a typology of three “security cultures for digital technology” based on Mary Kaldor’s work on human security, linking international relations and critical security studies with technology assessment (TA). The following cultures are distinguished: dual use, cybersecurity, and TA. The article concludes with a call for collaborative efforts among policy makers, industry, and civil society to prioritize a human-centered approach and global cooperation mechanisms and to strengthen the TA culture in order to address AI innovation without compromising human rights.

MENANAM DAN MENJUAL JAGUNG DEMI BERAS: PENGARUH PERUBAHAN KONSUMSI MAKANAN POKOK PADA KOMUNITAS ADAT JALAWASTU

The Jalawastu traditional community has had a culture of food security for centuries with white corn as the variety they cultivate for staple food. Today's reality shows that hybrid corn is a variety that has been commodified as the main agricultural product. People's behavior, on the other hand, shows that corn is now not the main choice as their staple food. The Jalawastu traditional community now uses rice as their main daily food rather than corn. Based on field research conducted in 2022, this article was prepared by analyzing several factors that have brought about economic and socio-cultural changes that have occurred over the last few decades in the Jalawastu Traditional Village. The influence of the market economy on agriculture in Jalawastu is allegedly strong in bringing about changes in their way of life and outlook on life that has actually been regulated through customary mechanisms. Apart from that, this article tries to raise any threats in realizing the food security and sovereignty of indigenous communities in Jalawastu. In the end, the author concludes that there are still efforts towards food sovereignty based on their traditional livelihood system even though there is a knowledge gap between generations regarding the symbolic value of corn.

ANALYSING RESERVE FORCES AS AN ENABLER FACTOR FOR ACTIVE MILITARY

The continuum degradation of the international security environment represents a negative effect of the unbalanced power that followed the end of the Cold War. With only one superpower controlling the international order it is almost impossible to prevent and manage numerous crisis and conflicts which happened all around the world at any time. Therefore, the idea of changing the current world order acquires greater and greater valences in the mind of regional powers. At the same time, the military conflict evolves and is highly influenced by the new risks and threats that appeared at national, regional and international security environments. Recent events demonstrate that we have to fight today wars and be prepared for the tomorrow ones at the same time. Preparing the population for defense and, implicitly, developing a culture of security within civil society, alongside the revitalization of the voluntary reserve, are vital and the only elements that can contribute to harnessing the society's volunteerism and accessing the potential available at this moment in Romanian society for achieving resilience and acceptable internal security. This is essential for fulfilling the objective of a possible regeneration of the active military force. Therefore, the role of reserve forces and reservists, including volunteer ones, in this new operating environment is continuing increasing and their importance inside national military forces acquires a new connotation for more and more missions. Apart for being just a human resource to replace lost active-duty personnel, reservists can enhance the resilience at national and military levels and fill up gaps or niche positions. This material will analyse how reserve forces were used in the current wars in line with new security environment paradigm and will propose some real ways ahead for the Romanian Armed Forces to develop such enabling operational resources.

Never Overlook Security Awareness on Deployment

Since preliminary evidence supports the association between security culture and information security awareness (ISA), more research is needed to determine how it interacts with organizational culture. Beyond variations in respondent nation or gender, the study's findings also demonstrate an association between stronger cyber expertise and level of cyber awareness. Additionally, awareness is linked to defense mechanisms but not the information they were willing to divulge. People play an even more important role in the collaboration between those teams and the security team when security is incorporated into DevOps practices. Furthermore, security is crucial when creating essential systems since it allows us to control objectives, risks, and evidence. Labor only starts after implementing security into the DevOps toolchain. To establish a security culture, we are additionally required to start with behavioral alterations. One of the largest Sharia banks in Indonesia anticipated cyberattacks in 2023, demonstrating to us how crucial security is in the modern world. Although no one could claim that using one of the security solutions would guarantee absolute safety, information security technology is quite dynamic. Future studies could improve on the current findings by taking into account national culture. This study has the aim of proving that we are never satisfied by current security maturity even if you or your company is implementing the best security tools, because the vulnerability can come from that deployment and wherever the environment itself.

Key Actions to Enable Automation for Mobile Network Security Operations

Over time, the landscape of Cyberspace surrounding Internet Service Providers (ISPs) has undergone enduring transformations. Notably, mobile networks, integral to contemporary societal infrastructure, consistently encounter evolving cybersecurity threats and risks. ISP processes have adapted with a persistent focus on optimizing network performance and availability, yet the challenges emerge from a laborious and protracted network change management process, hindering the practical automation of network security. Addressing the rightful demand for the highest level of security from mobile network users, our research question probes: "How can we intensify the emphasis on network security and facilitate the automation of network security operations?" To delve into this, we conducted extensive interviews with ISPs globally, affirming the inherent difficulty in automating security operations. The findings categorize challenges into three domains: Security Culture, Operational Processes, and Tools. Cultivating a security culture demands a pivotal commitment to change from top management, coupled with dedicated time and resources. Essential to this is the enhancement of security competence, extending beyond specialists to encompass network engineering staff. Robust network security not only safeguards against threats but significantly influences various business processes. Initiating a secure network requires ISPs to articulate explicit security requirements during the network procurement process, exerting pressure on vendors to fortify systems with a security-by-design approach at the factory. Critical to this is the secure deployment of networks, integrating comprehensive network hardening during the build phase. However, findings indicate a prevalent oversight where network security configuration changes are often neglected or deprioritized in favor of network performance. Achieving a harmonious balance between security and performance necessitates a predefined agreement on a network security configuration baseline. This collaborative effort involves network security specialists and competent network engineers. To effectively monitor and enforce network security configuration, ISPs require automation-enabled tools with the predefined baseline, offering capabilities for monitoring and enforcing network assets. In conclusion, our research emphasizes the imperative need for a paradigm shift in organizational culture, operational processes, and tool utilization to enhance the focus on network security and enable the critical automation of network security operations within the ever-evolving landscape of Cyberspace.

Abstract In times when the issue of state and individual security is on everyone’s lips, the need for a security culture adapted to the challenges of the security environment is increasingly felt. If going through a pandemic that left behind a world devastated primarily on a psychological and emotional level, but also physically, made us rethink our value scale and prioritize strengthening our immune system, similarly, the conflicts taking place near our borders, as well as those occurring at considerable distances which have equally disastrous consequences for a society already vulnerable and seemingly having lost all control over its direction, lead to the need to place special importance on consolidating and raising the level of security culture, especially regarding responsible institutions, but also citizens whose lives are directly affected by the lack of essential knowledge for a resilient lifestyle in the field of security. The paper aims to identify the problems that have prevented us from evolving in the field of security culture and to draw attention to the fact that avoiding taking absolutely necessary measures and the lack of constant and coherent concerns can lead to situations that could be catastrophic for our nation and which could be avoided through sustained effort.

Building the Urban Organizational Capability for Resilience as a Matter of Updating Security Education of Community

Abstract This article intends to emphasize the role that education has in strengthening resilience in the urban environment. It is highlighted how, starting from quantitative and qualitative aspects of some work tools dedicated to resilience, weak points of the materialization stage of the security culture to support a mature level of resilience can be identified. In practice, we can talk about a mutually supportive relationship between the two concepts: a high level of security culture allows, facilitates and augments an organizational behavior that favors resilience in the face of contemporary adversities, and the lessons learned as a result of an experience aimed at resilience adjust and provide feed-back to the security culture. Both macroconcepts have a common vein of support given by the educational component of the characteristic processes. Wanting to be as resilient as possible, against a backdrop of a robust security culture, therefore becomes a matter of preparation and training first and foremost. The research method is exploratory, accompanied by examples of known cases. The convergence of the approach has the purpose of bringing to the attention of stakeholders the usefulness of table top exercises, as a necessary training method for risk awareness and emergency management.

The Future of Warfare in the Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity Context

Abstract The war of the future represents an increasingly difficult concept to model through the implementation of emerging and disruptive technologies in a Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA) context. The study of wars is essential in conflict prevention and peace building. In our paper we analyze the determining parameters of the contemporary operational environment against which we estimate possible directions of evolution of this phenomenon. The technological approach to war allows the identification of indicators of the development of emerging and disruptive technologies in an ethical framework and reinforces the strategies of forming a security culture through the mass education of citizens. The results of the research and the conclusions formulated can also constitute priorities for the strategies to strengthen the resilience of the national security and defense infrastructures.
