Contradictions of sustainable development urban planning form (on the example of Irkutsk)

Problem: the city absorbs the natural and historical and cultural resources of the territory, due to which it is growing. The technical and economic growth of the city does not coincide with the preservation and prosperity of nature and culture. The quality of life with the growth of the city is deteriorating as a result of the predominance of the commercial interests of developers over the environmental and historical values of the townspeople. Purpose: to identify the features of the growth of the city of Irkutsk, environmental and historical-cultural problems accompanying this growth, and to develop a design tool that allows you to protect the environmental and historical-cultural values of the city. Methods: fixing planning forms of conflicts by comparative analysis of design and actual morphotypes of construction; use of configurations of natural and historical-cultural frames of a kind to assess conflict situations; finding a compromise in conflicts of city development motivations. Results: scientific directions for resolving conflicts of sustainable development of the city were identified: the principle of landscape-like planning and construction; the principle of continuity in the development of development; the principle of distinguishing between public and private morphotypes; the principle of ordering random processes in different-time buildings.

Assessment of Tourism Development in Belarus: A Comprehensive Analysis of Infrastructure, Cultural Heritage and Natural Resources

Purpose: This study examines the development of tourism in Belarus, evaluating its infrastructure, cultural heritage potential, and natural resources. The research aims to identify key factors influencing tourism development and assess their relative impact on the sector's growth. Design/methodology/approach: The study employs a mixed-methods approach, primarily utilizing a quantitative survey (n=512) of local stakeholders across six regions of Belarus, supplemented by comprehensive statistical analysis. The research instrument included 17 structured questions measuring perceptions of tourism development across multiple dimensions. Data analysis was conducted using chi-square tests and Cramér's V coefficient to determine statistical significance and relationship strength. Findings: The results indicate moderate tourism development in Belarus (39% of respondents rated it as average, 42% as high). Infrastructure quality shows significant regional variation (χ2(4)=31.50, p<0.001, V=0.56). Cultural heritage emerged as a primary attraction (72% agreement), while natural resources received varied evaluations (57% highlighting landscape value). The study identified key development barriers: visa restrictions (74% of respondents), insufficient marketing (62%), and underdeveloped transport infrastructure (51%). Research limitations/implications: The study's cross-sectional nature and focus on domestic stakeholders may limit its generalizability. Future longitudinal studies incorporating international perspectives could provide additional insights. Conclusion: The study reveals that Belarus's tourism development exhibits a complex pattern of strengths and challenges. While the country possesses significant potential through its cultural heritage (72% positive evaluation) and natural resources (57% positive assessment), its tourism development is constrained by structural barriers. The research demonstrates that future tourism growth requires a three-pronged approach: (1) systematic infrastructure modernization, particularly in regional areas; (2) reform of visa policies to enhance accessibility; and (3) development of comprehensive marketing strategies. The statistical significance of these findings (p<0.001) supports the need for evidence-based policy interventions. This research contributes to both theoretical understanding of tourism development in transition economies and practical policy formulation, while establishing a methodological framework for future studies in similar contexts.

From Artifacts to Interactivity: Optimizing Museum Outreach through Technology and Inclusivity

With the development of society, people are paying more and more attention to cultural protection, and museums have become the core of protecting and sharing cultural heritage. Today's museums are not just exhibition halls. They are educational centers and social spaces that help cultivate a sense of history, cultural identity, and community cohesion. However, many traditional museum practices are difficult to attract modern audiences, especially young tourists who pursue immersive experiences. This study analyzed the influencing factors of well-organized and well-designed promotional activities in museums, with a focus on exploring how to strengthen the role of museums as educational, social, and cultural resources. By studying core principles such as structured planning, creativity, and feasibility, this article provides feasible suggestions for strengthening museum promotion strategies. With the integration of modern technology, enhanced interactivity, and widespread use of digital media and targeted activities, museums have the opportunity to expand their audience, cultivate sustained connections, and promote cultural diversity. The study ultimately emphasizes the value of strategic external connections and positions museums as active contributors to cultural dialogue. These perspectives aim to help museums adapt to technological advancements, change public expectations, and lay the foundation for further research on digital participation, visitor protection, and international cultural exchange.

Research on the resource development system and optimization Odel of urban football movement development

The development of urban football is constrained by the available urban resource factors, and the development and optimization of urban football development resources are of great significance. The urban football resource development system includes tangible and intangible resources. The former can be developed in terms of venue resources, human resources, population resources, financial resources, and natural resources. The latter can be developed in terms of historical resources, cultural resources, institutional resources, network and media resources, and event resources. The optimization of football development resources can reduce constraints between resources and increase coordination and promotion. Optimization models can be explored both within and between categories of tangible and intangible resources.

Practice architectures for bridging the semantic gap in museum documentation

ABSTRACT In this paper we address a persistent widespread issue in museum documentation, the semantic gap: a disconnect between how users search online collections and staff apply metadata. By applying a systems-level understanding to documentation practices, we not only interrogate the complexity of the semantic gap, but also envision ways to bridge it. To examine documentation practices in depth, we use the case study of National Museums Scotland, undertaking interviews and a workshop with staff cross-institutionally. We apply practice architectures, initially developed for educational practice, as a systems-level framework, adapting it for the analysis of cultural heritage documentation. Using practice architectures as a lens, we examine and deconstruct different arrangements (encompassing cultural, material, social, and economic resources) that are entangled and prefigure documentation practices. We thus re-envision practice architectures at National Museums Scotland and beyond that transform documentation practices, supporting staff to place users at the centre.

Korean Templestay as a Sustainable Global Cultural Product: The Case of Manggyeongsansa

While the trend of de-religiousization has accelerated globally, Korean Buddhism has become very hip around the world. While it was traditionally known as a symbol of a solemn and old religion, with its innovative transformation, Korean Buddhism has gained wide popularity in friendly and trendy atmospheres, especially among people in their 20s and 30s in Korea and abroad, regardless of religion. Thus, Korean Buddhism has a cultural affinity beyond religion, nationality, age, and gender. At the center of this popularization of Buddhism, there exists “Templestay”. Templestay is defined as staying in a Korean temple and experiencing traditional Korean culture, the spirit of Buddhist practice, the natural environment, and the daily life of temples. Templestay was selected as one of the world’s top five most successfully developed tourism and cultural resources by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and one of the top 10 icons representing Korea according to the Republic of Korea’s Presidential Council on Nation Branding. Thus, Templestay is not just a Buddhist cultural experience but has been officially recognized as a sustainable global cultural product representing Korea with a history of 1700 years, where a global cultural product is defined as a cultural product that is shared on a global level. Considering Templestay’s wide global popularity, as well as its significant impact on the national economy, tourism, and cultural succession, with over 7 million participants, it is important to investigate Templestay from the perspective of sustainable management, such as CSR, CSV, and ESG. However, while a few studies exist on Templestay, the theoretical aspects of Templestay as a subject of sustainable management have not been sufficiently developed, since most research on Templestay has focused on the perspectives of religion or visitor experiences. Thus, by focusing on Manggyeongsansa Templestay, which was selected as one of the best Korean temples among the 150 temples offering Templestay in 2023, the findings from this case study provide significant implications and practical guidelines for the sustainable management of global cultural products to address fundamental issues from an angle that has not been covered sufficiently.

Sports poverty alleviation: concept and model innovation for the development of Chinese sports towns in the new Era

In recent years, sports-themed towns have emerged as a key component in China's rural revitalization and poverty alleviation strategy, integrating sports, culture, tourism, and health industries to drive regional economic and social development. However, the literature often overlooks their long-term impact on social, cultural, and community development. Research aims to explore the concept of “sports poverty alleviation” and propose a new development model for sports towns in China, focusing on economic growth as well as social and cultural enhancement, public health, community integration. The study employs mixed methods, including documentary analysis and empirical research, to evaluate the effectiveness of various sports town models in poverty alleviation. Findings reveal that while these towns successfully boost short-term economic growth, especially through tourism and events, their sustainability is challenged by homogenization and a lack of competitiveness. Many towns fail to capitalize on local cultural and natural resources, and while they contribute to immediate economic benefits, they often lack long-term employment and integration strategies for local communities. Successful cases like the Mashan model demonstrate how integrating local resources and cultural identity with sports industries can lead to sustainable development and poverty alleviation. The research concludes that a more holistic approach to the development of sports towns in China is needed. Economic benefits should be complemented by a focus on social, cultural, and community development to ensure long-term success. The proposed innovative development models offer practical solutions to enhance the uniqueness and sustainability of sports towns, contributing to China's rural revitalization and poverty alleviation efforts.

Study on the Innovative Development Path of Rural Characteristic Sports Events in Ganzi Prefecture under the Background of Culture and Tourism Integration

Under the background of cultural and tourism integration, the development of rural characteristic sports events in Ganzi Prefecture faces new opportunities and challenges. By analyzing the rich culture, natural resources and the current situation of characteristic sports events in Ganzi Prefecture, this paper discusses how to innovate the development of these events in order to realize the deep integration of cultural tourism and rural sports and promote the development of local economy and society. The study finds that Ganzi Prefecture has a broad space for innovation in terms of event branding, integration of events and tourism projects, technological empowerment and community participation. To this end, this paper proposes an innovative path based on the excavation of local cultural resources, branding, digital promotion and industry linkage development, specifically including event branding, exploration of the integration mode of culture and tourism, the application of scientific and technological means, and the improvement of the community participation mechanism.

‘I thought I was a refugee’: a narrative inquiry of an EFL teacher’s piloting of a newly published textbook

ABSTRACT Textbooks hold a central position in English Language Teaching (ELT), providing linguistic, sociolinguistic, and cultural resources embedded within specific pedagogical frameworks. Despite its centrality, the end-users’ engagement in textbook development remains vague and untouched. Situated within a textbook development project, this longitudinal study attempts to delineate an experienced English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) teacher’s piloting of a newly published textbook in tertiary education in China. Drawing on data from semi-structured interviews, field observations, classroom observations, and documents spanning over one year, the narrative inquiry traces and depicts the participant’s transition from ‘groping in the darkness’ to ‘seeing a silver lining in the cloud’, which is fluctuated with the participant’s analysis, adaptation, evaluation, and appropriation of the material, highlighted with her re-interpretation of the textbook rationales and re-construction of the personal pedagogical approach in a context-response manner. Facing the challenges and pressures during the textbook piloting project, the teacher’s continuous self-reflection and perseverance are the fundamental driving forces to customize the materials. Furthermore, the flexibility of the textbook content and the support from the editorial team do play essential roles in the piloting project. Through deciphering the rocks and roses in a teacher’s first encounter with a newly published textbook, the study provides practical insights for textbook publishers, textbook writers, language teachers and teacher educators regarding both textbook development and professional development.

Teaching -Learning Process as a Strategy to Recover and Strengthen the Shuar Culture

This study examines the impact of the teaching-learning process on the preservation of the Shuar culture in Ecuador, specifically in the Morona Santiago Support Center. The main objective is to analyze how the Bilingual Intercultural Educational Model (MOSEIB) contributes to the rescue of the Shuar cultural identity among children and young people. The methodology is quantitative and descriptive, using surveys to obtain data on the perception and experiences of teachers and students. The population includes 51 people, including 33 teachers and 18 students, who answered questions about the use of cultural resources in the classroom and the relevance of Shuar customs as myths, legends, and mother tongue. The results indicate a positive acceptance of the MOSEIB model, as both students and teachers express that teaching based on the Shuar culture reinforces their identity. A high percentage of students enjoy cultural activities and value the use of traditional language and dress. In conclusion, the Intercultural Bilingual Educational Model has a positive impact, promoting the continuity of Shuar traditions and generating a space of respect and appreciation of their culture both in the educational field and in daily life.

SUPPORT FOR ATTRACTING INVESTMENTSTO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TOURISM SECTOR

The article examines the institutional support for attracting investments to the development of the tourism sector in Ukraine, which serves as a key factor for creating a favorable investment climate and stimulating industry growth. The aim of the research is to analyze, systematize, and summarize the existing institutional foundations for attracting investments, as well as to develop recommendations for overcoming institutional problems in the tourism sector's development. The study presents a system of legal, organizational, economic, and social instruments that create conditions for activating investment activities in the tourism sector. The importance of state support, improving legislation, and developing effective financial mechanisms for attracting investors is substantiated. The research findings indicate that Ukraine has significant potential in the tourism sector due to its natural, cultural, and historical resources. It is revealed that the lack of systematic legislation, inadequate training of personnel, weaknesses in financial mechanisms, and the mismatch of the tax system with industry needs hinder the development of the tourism sector. The study also identified the urgent need for a unified legislative act regulating activities in the tourism sector. Special attention is paid to the role of government organizations that provide informational support and cooperation between the state and business, as well as their participation in developing tourism development strategies. The article presents examples of international cooperation and Ukraine's participation in international organizations' programs that promote foreign investment attraction. The necessity of creating effective financial instruments, including state subsidies and grants, to support new tourism projects is justified. The research emphasizes the importance of implementing tax incentives for enterprises in the tourism sector and developing informational platforms for convenient access to investment opportunities. It is argued that institutional support for attracting investments to the development of the tourism sector in Ukraine is a comprehensive process that requires the systematization of legislation, support for innovative enterprises, modernization of personnel training, and the development of financial mechanisms that will contribute to the sustainable development of tourism infrastructure and the attraction of new investments.

Enabling pharmacist prescribing: Lessons learned in Nova Scotia using behaviour change theory.

The COVID-19 pandemic alongside increased patient demand, enablement of scope, and government funding has accelerated the need and demand for pharmacist prescribing in Nova Scotia. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was undertaken to understand barriers and facilitators to pharmacist prescribing in Nova Scotia, Canada. This consisted of: 1) a cross-sectional survey and 2) semistructured, qualitative interviews with pharmacists practising in the community. The survey and interviews were designed using the Behaviour Change Wheel that encompasses the Capability Opportunity Motivation Model of Behaviour Change (COM-B) and Theoretical Domains Framework version 2 (TDFv2). Of 190 survey respondents, the percentage who prescribed 15+ times/month increased from 49% before to 80% during the COVID-19 pandemic (P<0.001). Pharmacists identified knowledge, social norms/pressures, and rewards or consequences related to how and when to prescribe as facilitators (Knowledge, Social Influences, and Motivation TDFv2 domains, respectively). Barriers included the environmental context and fear of negative outcomes (Environmental Context and Resources and Beliefs about Consequences, respectively). Through the interviews, the presence of prescribing decision tools (Memory, Attention and Decision Processes) and a supportive organizational culture (Environmental Context and Resources) were facilitators. Worry was expressed about making mistakes (Beliefs about Consequences) and feeling significant pressure to meet patient demand (Social Influences) in a busy setting (Environmental Context and Resources). Supports to better enable pharmacist prescribing are described, with key messages for pharmacists, pharmacy owners/managers, educators, advocacy bodies, regulators, and government identified. Pharmacist prescribing has increased significantly over a short period of time. Environmental supports (e.g., time, space, access to patient records), government funding, peer support, and public awareness are needed to optimize and fully implement these practice changes.

The Development and Value of Sanbao Art Village in Jingdezhen China

Background and Aim: This study explores the construction and study value of Sanbao Art Village in Jingdezhen, China, to investigate how this art village promotes regional economic and social development through the power of art and culture. As one of the more mature art villages in China, the development history of Sanbao Art Village and its impact on culture inheritance and innovation play an important role in understanding the rural revitalization and development of cultural industries. This study aims to analyze the development process of Sanbao Art Village and inquire about its cultural, economic, and social value, as well as its significance and effect under the contemporary background. Materials and Methods: This study puts to use the methods of literature review and field survey, collects all the relevant information about Sanbao Art Village, and reorganizes the development history of Sanbao Art Village. Through an on-site investigation of Sanbao Art Village, the readers can intuitively understand the art village’s operation model, cultural value, social and economic impacts, and so on. Results: This study found that since its establishment in 1995, Sanbao Art Village has developed from an unknown small village into a well-known art creation and cultural exchange center at home and abroad. Its successful transformation is attributed to Li Jianshen’s founding philosophy and the joint efforts of the artists and the community. It combines effectively traditional ceramic techniques with modern art innovation, thus establishing a platform for international exchanges of ceramic art in Jingdezhen and even China. Sanbao Art Village has great important value in culture, economy, society, and other aspects. Conclusion: Two main conclusions are drawn through the research: (1) Sanbao Art Village has a positive impact on promoting cultural inheritance and innovation, stimulating economic vitality, and improving the quality of life of the community. The development practice of the art village provides a valuable reference for other regions to promote sustainable development by using art and cultural resources. (2) Sanbao Art Village not only combines the traditional ceramic culture and modern art innovation, creating a unique cultural and artistic ecosystem, but also attracts tourists from all overall the world and enhances the international reputation of Jingdezhen and even China’s ceramic art. It is an important place for cultural inheritance and artistic innovation and has made also significant contributions to the local economic development and social well-being.

Observation on the new Exploration Status of Inheritance, Development and Protection of Traditional Folk Culture

At the present stage, the development and protection of traditional ethnic and folk culture has become the focus of the state. The rational allocation of traditional ethnic and folk culture resources, avoiding overexploitation, and striving to achieve the goals of inheritance, development and protection of ethnic and folk culture. Not only that, but also need to fully reflect the advantages of national and folk traditional culture, organic combination with the teaching of colleges and universities, so as to obtain good inheritance and development and protection results, effectively solve the crisis of national and folk traditional culture inheritance and protection. Thus, it can also promote the healthy and sustainable development of ethnic areas. This paper probes into the current situation of the inheritance, development and protection of ethnic and folk traditional culture, and puts forward new exploration measures for the inheritance, development and protection of ethnic and folk traditional culture for the reference of relevant personnel.

Academic resilience of Mexican heritage women in college: transforming familial histories into asset-based resources

This study builds on asset-based research that acknowledges the continuity of cultural assets and resources utilized among Latinx students in their educational trajectories. It is important to consider the functionality of individuals’ subjective sense- and meaning-making with explicit familial and cultural contexts as foundational to students’ academic resilience. Drawing upon LatCrit and Community Cultural Wealth to theorize about how first-generation Latinx college women make sense/meaning of their heritage, and in connection with their college-going identities, which can help identify factors that contributed to their educational persistence, this multi-method qualitative study examined how seven women of Mexican heritage (self-identified) cultivated their academic resilience. Findings suggest that the participants made meaning of familial cuentos and consejos in their daily lives and conceptualized their own positive attitudes and behaviors towards education in the form of asset-based resources: motivation, aspirations, and familial, ethnic, and cultural pride, in addition to positivity and optimism, and a strong work ethic. More research is needed on how students transform their families’ histories into resources that promote resilience.

Antecedents of tourist loyalty in China’s Kangyang tourism: The influence of destination image, service quality, tourist satisfaction, and affective commitment

Background: Kangyang tourism, a wellness tourism niche in China, integrates health preservation with tourism through natural and cultural resources. Despite a growing interest in Kangyang tourism, the factors driving tourist loyalty in this sector are underexplored. Methods: Using a sample of 413 tourists, this study employed Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) to examine the influence of destination image, service quality, tourist satisfaction, and affective commitment on tourist loyalty. Results: The findings reveal that destination image and service quality positively affect tourist satisfaction, affective commitment, and loyalty. Tourist satisfaction and affective commitment are identified as critical drivers of tourist loyalty. Notably, affective commitment plays a stronger role in fostering loyalty compared to satisfaction. Conclusion: These results highlight the importance of a positive destination image and high service quality in enhancing tourist loyalty through increased emotional and psychological attachment. The findings inform strategies for stakeholders to improve Kangyang tourism’s growth by focusing on emotionally engaging experiences and service excellence.

K-콘텐츠를 활용한 지역관광 활성화 방안 : 춘천 사례를 중심으로

By focusing on the case of Chuncheon, this study explores the local governments' strategies to revitalize local tourism by utilizing K-contents. The study examines Chuncheon’s geographical characteristics, natural resources, cultural resources, and industrial assets within the broader context of K-contents which also includes local content. In-depth interviews with experts and focus group interviews with consumers were conducted. The analysis utilized the 'Local Content-Based Tourism Industry Competitiveness Evaluation Model' which focuses on four key elements: cultural tourism content resources, K-content-based tourism market, strategy and business implementation system, and supporting environment (i.e., infrastructure). The results revealed that while Chuncheon possesses diverse natural and cultural resources, there is a need for improvement in linking and utilizing these assets. The study highlights the necessity of developing and promoting contents that align with current tourism trends and the preferences of the MZ generation. Additionally, it calls for an enhancement of infrastructure, such as accommodation and transportation, to better connect major tourist spots within the city. To foster the cultural and tourism content industry, the study also emphasizes the urgent need to establish governance to systematically support development efforts. The research proposes a five-theme strategy to revitalize tourism in Chuncheon: regional characteristics, culture and festivals, filming location spots, leisure sports, and food. This approach provides practical implications by offering a comprehensive perspective on the current situation, challenges, and revitalization measures for Chuncheon tourism.

The Necessity and Importance of Research and its Role in Afghan Society

This research examines the necessity and importance of scientific research in Afghan society and its role in the economic, social, and cultural development of the country. Given the numerous challenges faced by Afghanistan, including war, poverty, and political instability, research is recognized as a vital tool for identifying and analyzing problems and providing data-driven and evidence-based solutions. The research employs a qualitative methodology based on semi-structured interviews with researchers, university professors, and policymakers. Findings indicate that scientific research can contribute to economic development by enhancing educational quality, improving infrastructure, and increasing innovation. Additionally, the results suggest that institutional, cultural, and financial resource barriers are among the main challenges to advancing research in Afghanistan. Ultimately, this study emphasizes the need for investment in research and the creation of suitable infrastructures to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life in Afghanistan.

Beyond the Stereotype: Exploring Monetary Donations and Volunteerism Among People With Disabilities

This study aims to provide empirical evidence supporting the perception of people with disabilities as givers and to explore their giving behaviors. Utilizing data from 2019 Social Survey by Statistics Korea, the study combined resource theory and selective optimization with compensation (SOC) theory to compare monetary donations and volunteer behaviors between people with disabilities and people without disabilities while identifying factors that influence giving behavior among people with disabilities. The study findings revealed that people with disabilities participate in giving behaviors despite resource scarcity, and disability had no significant effect on volunteer hours. Social and cultural resources were significant factors that influenced the amount of donations and hours of volunteering among people with disabilities. In addition, a mutual spillover effect was observed between donation amounts and volunteer hours. Such findings highlight the importance of lowering the barriers and connecting people with disabilities to giving behaviors.

Leveraging the cultural intelligence of sport employees in the globalized sports industry

PurposeIn the contemporary globalized sports industry, it is crucial for sport employees to cultivate an essential capability – cultural intelligence (CQ) – to excel in culturally diverse sport environments. The purpose of this study is to propose a comprehensive conceptual framework of sport employees' CQ for enhancing management practices in sport organizations.Design/methodology/approachBy conducting a thorough literature review of relevant business and sport management literature, this research offers a synopsis of CQ and advocates for the advancement of a developed conceptual framework for sport employees' CQ (CQ-SE).FindingsThe conceptual framework of CQ-SE is proposed to facilitate employees’ effective integration into diverse environments within sport organizations. This framework identifies predictors that enhance sport employees’ CQ, moderating factors to provide deeper insights into these relationships and outcomes at individual, group and organizational levels. We additionally elaborate on the anticipated benefits for stakeholders, given the services provided by sport practitioners.Originality/valueThis study is one of the initial endeavors to conceptualize the concept of CQ for sport employees. This study contributes to the literature on sport organizational culture and human resource management by emphasizing the pivotal role of sport employees’ CQ in promoting greater inclusivity in sport organizations. We encourage sport management researchers to explore the application of CQ in sport contexts and empirically test the relationships proposed in this framework.
