The End of the Book - the Commonality of Literary Creation and the Specificity of Film Literature

This article discusses the commonalities of literary creation and the special characteristics of film literature, and explores the complementary relationship between the two. In terms of the commonalities of literary creation, it includes the shared characteristics of artistic expression, emotional transmission, and narrative structure. As a form of creation with multiple media, film literature combines the power of images and sound, as well as the special ways of presenting time and space. This article highlights the importance of the mutual influence and promotion between literary creation and film literature, and proposes opportunities for cross-border innovation and collaboration. Overall, literary creation and film literature embody the essence of artistic expression, while the special characteristics of film literature make it a unique form of art. They mutually influence and enrich human cultural creativity.

Entrepreneurial universities and intrapreneurship: A process model on the emergence of an intrapreneurial university

With this paper we aim to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms that facilitate the emergence of an intrapreneurial university by considering a longitudinal, single case study. Our process model shows the specific mechanisms (i.e., enabling and supporting) that drive the transformation of scattered individual-level abilities (i.e., competencies, mindset and networks, playing as antecedents) into organizational intrapreneurial abilities, endowed within the university. Our study contributes to a growing stream of studies on intrapreneurial universities, exploring how universities internally anticipate, address and manage change, how they organize and orchestrate resources and competencies, thus showing intrapreneurial abilities. In terms of managerial implications we suggest university managers to take in consideration that entrepreneurial approaches should to be better promoted internally, by cultivating a culture of change, creativity and innovation, as well as fostering team-working activities.

From the dilemma of Chinese nation branding and soft power to the performativity of creative power: The TAZARA Memorial Park and artistic intervention in Zambia

In this article I analyse the TAZARA Memorial Park in Zambia, which opened in 2022 and commemorates the Zambians, Tanzanians and Chinese who died while building the TAZARA Railway in the mid-twentieth century. Although the memorial is on Zambian soil and recalls a trinational history, it is largely driven by China as a form of Chinese nation branding and soft power. ‘International friendship’ typical of historic Afro-Asian solidarity permeates the memorial’s narratives, and is expressed through large bronze statues as well as museum dioramas, which have loaded museological histories. Zambia, however, was never a tabula rasa onto which this ‘friendship’ was simply imposed, and contemporary attempts to resuscitate historical solidarity are complex. Through interviews with Zambians who live close to the heritage site or worked on the construction of the railway, I demonstrate that there are multiple Zambian responses ranging from frustration and anger to deep feelings of camaraderie. Moving beyond the language of mainstream international relations, I embrace the performativity and generative creativity of culture itself, developing what I refer to as ‘creative power’. In doing so, I analyse two performative interventions that form part of the series, Tulelosha (‘We are mourning’) (2022–23), and which register the gaps and oversights of the memorial.

Luxury brand cultural symbolism: signaling effect on customer well-being

ABSTRACT Although previous studies of consumer behavior have examined the relationships between consumption and well-being, little is known about the impact of luxury brands on consumer life satisfaction. This study uses signaling theory to develop a model examining the impact of cultural symbolism, as measured by brand authenticity, on customer well-being. Self-administered online survey data is collected in the United States due to the growth and size of the luxury industry in the United States. Partial least squares structural equation modeling using SmartPLS showed that cultural symbolism has a positive signaling impact on customers’ perceptions of the authenticity of a luxury brand, prompting both hedonic and eudaimonic senses of well-being. Multigroup analyses supported the impact of the types of perceived benefits (hedonic and utilitarian) on the relationship between luxury consumption and consumer well-being. The present study offers useful insights for luxury brand managers by highlighting the roles of brand culture creation and brand authenticity on life satisfaction.

Study on the optimization of the integration path between animation design and cultural and creative industries in the information era

Abstract This paper aims to promote the integration of animation design and cultural and creative industries. The shape gradient algorithm is used to analyze the features of the animated shapes. The corresponding interval distance of anime shapes is determined by calculating the curve sampling points of anime feature points. The deformation framework is created, and a sequence of anime shapes is generated using the linear interpolation method. In the deformation of anime design, the role of three algorithms, namely image segmentation module, association map of attributes, and mathematical description of EMD, on its generation is focused on the analysis. The results show that anime users from post-00 and post-10 are more inclined to anime peripherals, accounting for 30% and 35%, respectively. The annual growth rate of anime peripheral is 90.2%, and the annual growth rate of the overseas anime market is also gradually increasing, reaching a growth rate of 103.1%. A successful anime IP will certainly influence the development of its anime and cultural creation industry. The research in this paper is conducive to promoting better integration of animation design and cultural and creative industries and promoting the development of an innovation economy.

Paradox of Creative Culture – Characteristics on Freedom in Norms of Sustainable Architecture

Contemporary challenges of sustainability are the results of civilisation action. This reveals necessity of humankind creative patterns (re)evaluation and, based on latest global tendencies, reformation into new – unprecedent – ways for anthropogenic artefacts, such as architecture, development and performance. Abundance of definitions on sustainability makes the task challenging by itself, especially, by changes in context of time and space as well as technological sophistication, interdisciplinarity. Therefore, the article, first of all, puts emphasis on finding the perception of sustainable development essence. It is explained as phased cultural characteristics aligning with range of human needs for outcomes, in terms of the study, named (re)solutions. The complex methodology, by the author formulated as technique 7R, explains the possibilities of sustainable architecture creation as freedom in norms, paradoxically, thus destining precedents and standards, such as traditions, revival rather than negligence. Review of scientific literature, documents, regulations and initiatives, in the first part of the study, serves for induction of sustainability characteristics appearing in alternative fields, such as economy, politics, knowledge, in the second part – of properties of architecture inherent to typological alternatives. Applying deduction principles, study suggests the derived means for sustainable architecture attributes, other types of human-made strategies, such as regulations on architecture. Case study of architecture examples the following findings and, argued also in non-scientific sources, serves for expertise on their authors’ critical creative intentions. The results are discussed, conclusions and suggestions are made.

AUTHENTIC CHEESES: MICROBIOLOGY, STARTERS, AND TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PRODUCTION

The work is dedicated to the varieties, microbiological peculiarities and technological aspects of production of certain types of authentic cheeses. The purpose of work is to determine the microbiological peculiarities of authentic cheeses, to analyze their varieties and microbiota, to define the biotechnological peculiarities of production of certain types of authentic cheeses. Monographic, constructive, causal analysis and logical generalization methods were used. Cheese is the most popular food product in the world; there are 5,000 varieties of cheese. Although standard cheeses produced on large-scale productions are the most popular and widespread, authentic cheeses are also popular due to their unique organoleptic properties. Many factors influence the unique characteristics of authentic cheeses, the main of which are the quality of milk, its microbiological and chemical composition, and the technological methods used in cheese-making. All authentic cheeses are characterized by the presence of lactic acid bacteria, but the use of untreated milk sometimes leads to the presence of foodborne pathogens in the final product. Certain authentic cheeses have a complex microbiota, which complicates their production and the creation of starter cultures. However, for many cheeses, especially those like feta, there are now technological approaches to production, and most research is aimed at achieving an authentic taste and improving the organoleptic properties of the final product. Analysis of the quantitative and qualitative composition of the fermenting microbiota and the technological features of different types of traditional cheeses makes it possible to determine the composition of new fermenting compositions that are inherent to a particular product and to choose ways to increase the efficiency of cheese production.

Inclusive culture of educational specialists: students of pedagogical directions of university training and practising teachers

The article considers aspects of formation of inclusive culture at the university, as one of the key areas of activity of modern higher school. The concept of «inclusive culture» is revealed in several directions, among which are the following: a special philosophy, an integral part of the general culture, a special atmosphere of trust, an original concept of the introduction of adapted modifications into the organization general structure, a fundamental basis for the creation of inclusive society culture, through which the goals of inclusive education are achieved and the social and personal qualities of all participants in inclusive society are improved. The authors analyze approaches to the definition of «university inclusive culture», inclusive culture structural components as well as its methods of research. The results of inclusive culture research of future teachers and practitioners in the field of education are presented.

Digital Transformation of Environmental Design Education and Application of Virtual Reality

The digital transformation of EDE (Environmental Design Education) and the application of VR (Virtual Reality) is a field that attracts much attention, and it is bringing new opportunities and challenges to learners and educators. First of all, VR technology improves the learning experience and enables students to explore different environments and design concepts in a personal way, so as to understand concepts more deeply. Secondly, VR tools provide students with an innovative platform, which can test and modify the design in real time in a virtual environment, and promote the cultivation of creativity and problem-solving skills. EDE's digital transformation and VR application provide learners with more attractive and effective learning methods, which are helpful to cultivate innovative and problem-solving skills. However, the sustainable development of this field needs continuous cooperation and investment to overcome the technical and educational challenges and push EDE further into the future.

Analysis of Copyright Protection Issues for Characters in Works

The use of characters in various types of prior works in modern society has raised questions about whether characters can be regarded as subjects of copyright. Based on copyright legislation and jurisprudence, regardless of the type or scale, the determination of whether any intellectual creation is eligible for copyright protection rests solely on the criteria of originality and replicability, unrelated to factors such as the commercial value of the characters. Various standards applicable to the issue of copyrightability of characters, as practiced in both Chinese and American judicial contexts, emphasize the consideration of specific descriptive elements inherent in characters. Guided by the "idea-expression dichotomy" principle, deconstructing characters reveals that only when characters are concretely and adequately described, and when they have transcended the realm of conceptual ideas to constitute an expression of originality, can they independently become subjects of copyright separate from the work they originate in. The protection and use of characters in works should respect the objective laws of cultural creation, inheritance, and development, in order to ultimately achieve the fundamental principles and goals of copyright legislation.

Visual practices of human creation in postmodern culture

The relevance of the study is due to the transformation of views on the processes of human creative activity in visual practices in postmodern culture. Changing views on the key elements of the individual characteristics of representatives of a particular type of culture allows us to talk about a new character of a person, passing through numerous stages of formation in the process of socialization. The purpose of the article is to form the basic principles of postmodern human creativity in the context of demonstrating this process within the framework of visual cultural and artistic practices and to identify the main directions of the transformation of a postmodern person under the influence of external circumstances. During the study, scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, analogy, abstraction, system analysis, comparative method, methods of systematization and classification were used. The article gives a generalized description of the main processes of human creativity as the formation of the personality of postmodern culture, identifies the main problems of the transformation of the consciousness of a postmodern personality, positive trends in changes in human characteristics, and confirms the main approaches to the interpretation of personality in culture and art.

The algorithmic network imaginary: How music artists understand and experience their algorithmically constructed networks

In this article we develop the concept of “algorithmic network imaginary” to understand how musicians imagine and relate to the networks of “related artists” they are algorithmically sorted into on Spotify. To address this question, we collected data on the related artist networks of 22 musicians constructed by Spotify’s Fans Also Like feature and conducted semi-structured, in-depth interviews with each musician. We used the Qualitative Structural Analysis method for data analysis. Our findings provide insight into what musicians think Fans Also Like is and is for, and reveals how cultural creators understand and experience their algorithmic networks. More broadly, they provide insights into how social actors perceive, understand, and experience their algorithmically constructed peer networks.

Institutional dynamics and corporate innovation: A pathway to sustainable development

AbstractModern corporate success is primarily reliant on a perfect balance of institutional effectiveness, innovation, and sustainability. Therefore, the primary goal of this research is to evaluate the impact of institutional frameworks on corporate innovation in developing countries. To achieve the said objective, we use firm and country data from multiple sources, and the final dataset consists of 24,166 observations from 41 developing countries during 2014–2018. For the analysis, we employ ordered probit and instrumental variable ordered probit regression models. According to the results, the success of corporate innovation in developing countries hinges on the strength of legal, financial, administrative, political, and religious institutions. Moreover, such associations stand out more clearly in nations with strong and stable institutional frameworks. The regression results show that innovative enterprises are more prevalent in strong institutional environments compared to those in poor institutional environments. These results also indicate that a strong rule of law, protection of property rights, easy access to financing, developed financial markets, an ethical environment, control of corruption, a stable political system, a democratic government, religious diversity, and freedom all contribute to corporate innovation. Moreover, institutional efficiency and corporate viability fuel the engine of corporate innovation, encouraging enterprises to create game‐changing products and services. These results contribute to the field of innovation management by considering institutional settings for sustainable development. The results have practical applications for building robust institutions and a creative culture.

Membangun Kreativitas dan Minat Baca Puisi Melalui Musikalisasi Puisi pada Siswa SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru

This service activity aims to stimulate students' interest in reading poetry at SMA Muhammadiyah I Pekanbaru through a poetry musicalisation approach. The service team conducted a situational analysis of the partners and found that the students' interest in reading poetry was low due to the lack of understanding and appreciation of poetry and the lack of students' creativity in presenting poetry. This service activity was also carried out as an effort to develop students' creativity in arts and culture. Creativity can help students develop critical and creative thinking skills, problem solving and innovation in various fields. Poetry musicalisation was chosen as a method in this activity because it can increase the appreciation and understanding of literary works, especially poetry. Poetry musicalisation can make poetry more interesting and easier for students to understand, and improve students' language and artistic skills. This method is effective in increasing the appreciation of poetry and helping students to develop their creative skills.

Bounding Paganism

Paganism is a construction that religionists and scholars alike define according to their understandings and purposes. Herein I seek to explode common understandings of Paganism, which assume it always involves beliefs and practices about putatively divine natural entities, beings, or forces, and to consider such phenomena more broadly, as a sensory and affective sensibility – and a perception that is often entirely naturalistic (e.g., scientific and agnostic if not avowedly atheistic) – about the proper place of humans in, and obligations to, nature. When understood in this way one can discern that a host of cultural creatives, including those orchestrating pageants and ritual-resembling ceremonies, artists of all sorts, curators of science museums, and even some developers of theme parks, have affinity with Pagan worldviews and values. By expanding the boundary of what many confine as Paganism it becomes possible to consider whether Paganism is more widespread, and growing more rapidly, than many perceive.

A New Mode of Interaction to Explore All-sky Maps in Multiple Wavelengths

As the Museums and Interactivity-oriented Science Centres of the world are reinventing themselves more as creators of culture than just conservators of culture, they are getting keener to explore how various data retrieval and HCI technologies can symbiotically fit into the methods of museology. Museums, since their advent, have used spatial and temporal scanning to present stories that evolve either over time or through space. But these have always remained static timelines that are limited in content, lack interactive exploration, and miss any metaphorical interaction that allows one to have the experience of physically scanning a space or a timeline. In this work, we report how a new HCI technology was used to retrieve all-sky map data and present the multi-wavelength view of the universe to the uninitiated visitor having no skill to navigate through sophisticated astronomy instruments. We describe an intuitive interface that takes no training and learning for the visitors to operate. They can start analyzing multi-wavelength all-sky maps of our galaxy in no time – exactly as professional astronomers do. Stressing upon the ease of usability, reliability of data, and fail-safe operation, visitors are given access to additional layers of information that can be presented in myriad options chosen by the visitor. They can compare thin slices of galactic images in various wavelengths and look for essential radiation sources that are otherwise not apparent in the naked eye or simple optical observations. The public exhibit was based on duplex data communication between a computer and a PIC microprocessor controller using IEEE 1284 parallel port in ECP mode thus making it a generic technology for interactive displays.

Mitigating methanol: how a deadly plant became a beloved resource

Learning outcomes The learning outcomes of this study are to estimate the complexities associated with the management of a novel business idea in the context of emerging markets; to demonstrate an understanding of entrepreneurial action and strategic adaptation under various challenges of the business world; to apply the principles of design thinking and innovation to analyze the sustainability of a social enterprise; and to evaluate the pros and cons of different strategic options and provide viable recommendations for future development. Case overview/synopsis Many riverine communities in Nigeria battled water hyacinth spread for decades, until Achenyo Idachaba-Obaro contributed her time, creativity and innovation to resolve the issue. She sacrificed her successful computer science career in the USA to launch her social enterprise, MitiMeth. The startup aimed to resolve the unaddressed environmental problems of her home country and to provide a decent living to the vulnerable community of indigenous artisans. This case study discusses Idachaba-Obaro’s efforts in researching the alternative usages of the water hyacinth weed under the condition of a limited availability of resources. Considering Nigeria’s creative arts culture and dismal socioeconomic conditions, she chose to weave the weed into handmade artifacts by educating herself and training local artisans to manufacture and sell handicrafts in the market. To receive financial support and attract environmentally conscious customers, Idachaba-Obaro had to participate in funding competitions, regularly attend exhibitions and partner with private entities, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and government authorities. This case study further elaborates on multiple hindrances associated with female entrepreneurial activities in a conservative Nigerian society characterized by marginalization, social stigma and gender-based stereotypes. Despite many challenges ensuing from a limited market access in rural areas, high unemployment rates and low levels of disposable incomes in the country, MitiMeth ambitioned to maintain its culture of creativity and innovation. The team regularly studied materials used and conducted brainstorming sessions with artisans to launch new items, improve existing products and incorporate needed alterations based on customer feedback and special demands. MitiMeth made its notable contribution toward the achievement of several sustainable development goals, while striving to continuously increase remittances to working artisans. Recently, the company was challenged by the vertiginous technological advancements of the digital era, as many businesses around the globe used machines to upscale their operations. Idachaba-Obaro pondered whether she should use technology in product manufacturing processes or focus on her commitment to provide a livelihood to local artisans and preserve the authentic look-and-feel of handmade crafts. How to effectively overcome fixation: a systematic review of fixation and defixation studies on the basis of fixation source and problem type

As a cognitive state that impedes idea generation, fixation has been well studied across various domains in relation to the cultivation of creativity. With the aim of contributing to the development of an effective approach to overcoming fixation in order to enhance creativity, a systematic review is conducted of 53 experimental studies concerning the source of fixation and the problem type, which are two critical factors influencing the effectiveness of defixation approaches. Based on the results, it is indicated that an enhancement of the search beyond the frame, constructed by either information that is externally provided or memory that is internally activated by information about the problem, is essential in overcoming fixation. Further, the elimination of fixation leads to an increase in solution rates of closed-ended problems. However, in open-ended problem solving, defixation does not necessarily lead to an improvement in the performance of problem solving, and an advancement can still be achieved by enhancing the search within the constructed frame even when there is no search beyond the frame. Accordingly, an examination of both beyond-frame searches and within-frame searches is essential for an effective defixation approach to enhance creativity in open-ended problem solving.

In the modern world, the successful development of any enterprise in any field depends on a number of factors, including the creation of a favorable corporate culture. Corporate culture is becoming an increasingly important aspect of doing business today. In this regard, the formation of a common vision of goals and objectives, a single strategy and sustainable values, which must be implemented at all levels and management structures, are of fundamental importance.
 The article focuses on the fact that in modern conditions, the process of forming an effective corporate culture is associated with three important elements: external and internal HR-brand and social policy. The internal HR brand is a certain set of tools with which the strategy of staff retention and development is implemented, thereby developing employee loyalty. An internal HR brand is a powerful tool for creating and strengthening ties between employees and the employer, as well as ensuring their commitment to the company. In turn, an external HR brand is a set of activities aimed at attracting new personnel and strengthening the company's image in the external labor market, since it affects the perception of the company by potential employees and partners. Also, an equally important element of corporate culture is the social policy of the enterprise, which is aimed at improving working conditions and improving the quality of life of employees. Social policy includes elements such as bonuses, benefits and other programs that are aimed at showing the company's concern for its employees and creating a positive image. All these factors together give uniqueness to the corporate culture of the enterprise and influence its success in the long term.
