The Enlightenment of a Counseling Case for Mental Health Education among Graduate Students

Psychological crisis intervention is a critical aspect of mental health education. A case study is present on the psychological crisis resulting from academic pressure among graduate students and the use of the Satir model is proposed for crisis intervention. Additionally, there are recommended to strengthen life and frustration education for graduate students, emphasize the importance of training graduate tutors in mental health knowledge and skills, assist graduate students in improving their mental resilience, and enhance their interpersonal skills.

Adaptation process of parents experiencing the coming out of their child

AbstractObjectiveThe objective of the study was to analyze the process of adaptation in parents residing in Poland whose child has revealed their gay/lesbian sexual orientation or gender identity and determine the stages and conditions of this process.BackgroundWhen a young person discloses their gay/lesbian sexual orientation or transgender identity, their parents' reaction has a significant impact on their psychological well‐being and on whether their family system can survive.MethodThis study, carried out from July to November 2022, involved conducting 21 interviews with parents residing in Poland whose child (whether a younger child, an adolescent, or an emerging adult) had come out about their gay/lesbian sexual orientation or transgender identity.ResultsAnalysis of interviews conducted during the research revealed the main stages of the process of parents' adaptation to their child coming out: initial attribution, coming out, secondary attribution, confrontation, and acceptance. For individual stages, we categorized reactions, which complement the description of an individual trajectory of adaptation.ConclusionIt is our opinion that for parents experiencing their child's coming out, the concept of their adaptation should be expanded to include a theory of grief and psychological crisis, highlighting the parents' need for cognitive‐functional validation of the situation.ImplicationsFuture research should seek to individualize the adaptation trajectories of parents whose child has come out about their sexual orientation or gender identity and relate these analyses to both mothers' and fathers' parental roles.

Developing Crisis Coping Strategies using Nominal Group Technique for Psychological Distress Management

This article solicits the opinions of seven professionals in the field of mental health in order to provide solutions for dealing with psychological crises through the application of the Nominal Group Technique (NGT). Four expert-approved approaches received acceptance scores between 90.48% and 100%. NGT facilitated quick and reliable validation of elements derived from literature reviews and expert consultations. Those working on individualised therapy modules for mental illness should be involved in future studies aimed at improving these approaches.

PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVES OF SECULAR PROGRAMS OF COMPASSION TRAINING

The article discusses key meditation-based programs aimed at nurturing and training the ability to empathize. Historically, these programs have been drawn to Buddhist teachings and traditional meditation practices, but in the process of adapting to global world and a secular context, they separate themselves from religion. In the process of research, I try to demonstrate the importance of these methods for philosophy, ethics and education, since the cultivation of compassion helps to better and more deeply understand the nature of a person, motivation and improve social interaction. Important for the modern world can be not only the therapeutic effect of the mentioned methods, but also their application in the field of philosophy. Although the vectors of Buddhism as religion and humanistic ethics may differ, they seek to improve the quality of human life, develop compassion, respect, trust to the world, and complement each other in conditions of environmental, social, and psychological crisis. For Ukraine, methods of compassion training are very important in the context of war and post-war healing of society. Education in general, and philosophical education in particular, will need a wide range of tools for healing collective trauma, returning to oneself, finding the home of being.

Measuring transparency in the social sciences: political science and international relations.

The scientific method is predicated on transparency-yet the pace at which transparent research practices are being adopted by the scientific community is slow. The replication crisis in psychology showed that published findings employing statistical inference are threatened by undetected errors, data manipulation and data falsification. To mitigate these problems and bolster research credibility, open data and preregistration practices have gained traction in the natural and social sciences. However, the extent of their adoption in different disciplines is unknown. We introduce computational procedures to identify the transparency of a research field using large-scale text analysis and machine learning classifiers. Using political science and international relations as an illustrative case, we examine 93 931 articles across the top 160 political science and international relations journals between 2010 and 2021. We find that approximately 21% of all statistical inference papers have open data and 5% of all experiments are preregistered. Despite this shortfall, the example of leading journals in the field shows that change is feasible and can be effected quickly.

Looking our limitations in the eye: A call for more thorough and honest reporting of study limitations

AbstractThe replication crisis and subsequent credibility revolution in psychology have highlighted many suboptimal research practices such as p‐hacking, overgeneralizing, and a lack of transparency. These practices may have been employed reflexively but upon reflection, they are hard to defend. We suggest that current practices for reporting and discussing study limitations are another example of an area where there is much room for improvement. In this article, we call for more rigorous reporting of study limitations in social and personality psychology articles, and we offer advice for how to do this. We recommend that authors consider what the best argument is against their conclusions (which we call the “steel‐person principle”). We consider limitations as threats to construct, internal, external, and statistical conclusion validity (Shadish et al., 2002), and offer some examples for better practice reporting of common study limitations. Our advice has its own limitations — both our representation of current practices and our recommendations are largely based on our own metaresearch and opinions. Nevertheless, we hope that we can prompt researchers to write more deeply and clearly about the limitations of their research, and to hold each other to higher standards when reviewing each other's work.

Construction and Application of Psychological Entropy Dissipation Model in Teenagers Resilience

This paper utilizes the psychological entropy dissipative structure theory to study adolescent psychological development from a new perspective, to dissect the dissipative structure of the psychological quality education system, and to study the prevention and treatment mechanism of psychological crisis. Based on the research data of secondary school students in China's second-tier urban areas, this study adopts the psychological entropy and dissipative structure model to compare the differences in the effects of the two quality education modes with and without team practice activities on the cultivation of adolescents' psychological resilience qualities by using the team social practice program as an example, and to form the entropy-reducing program for exploring the improvement of adolescents' psychological resilience in the quality education and cultivation reform program. The results show that the overall level of psychological resilience of the subjects is relatively satisfactory, the traditional education model of students in the training with the knowledge of the problem of the brush, a moderate amount of brush the amount of the problem of the problem can enable students to train a relatively good positive state of mind, the team practice activities of the students through the interpersonal connection, through the interaction of members of the team to obtain mutual support, more flexible response to emergencies and introspection and enhancement. It is suggested that in the process of comprehensive quality education for adolescents, the psychological stress management of adolescents can be realized by increasing the number of students from different schools to form irregular teams to carry out multiple team social practices. This study provides new theoretical perspectives and analytical methods for secondary school students' psychological quality education, and is of positive significance for the promotion of youth's healthy growth and the effective prevention of psychological crisis.

Mental Well -Being of Medical Students (Interns) During COVID-19 Lockdown and Coping Methods

The heath care crisis under COVID-19 had unparalleled consequences. The whole personnel involved in the management of COVID infected persons suffered a lot in term of burnout, stress, financial hardship, sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, and suicide in addition to risk of infection while treating such patients. Isolation and self-neglect may eventually result in anger, irritability and mood instability. Further, the daily contact with patients and the scarcity of resources are factors that contribute to the overall stress that healthcare workers undergo during this time. The present study highlights the major psychological crisis faced by the undergraduate MBBS student (Intern) who has to undergo compulsory clinical rotational postings in management of COVID19 infected patients. Exploring the Collaborative Intervention Mechanism for Psychological Crisis among College Students: Solving "Danger" and Seeking "Opportunity"

With the intensification of social competition and the acceleration of the pace of life, college students are facing increasing psychological pressure and increasingly prominent psychological problems. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the research on early warning and intervention of psychological crises among college students, integrate the forces of family, school, and society, and jointly respond to the psychological crises of college students. This study starts from the perspectives of psychological crisis prevention and intervention, and constructs a five level mechanism of primary prevention, intermediate prevention, advanced prevention, crisis intervention, and post intervention for collaborative intervention of psychological crises among college students. It further clarifies the connotation, concept, standards, and mechanism construction of collaborative work in psychological crisis intervention for college students, which is of great significance for enriching relevant research in this field.

Simulation application of sensors based on Kalman filter algorithm in student psychological crisis prediction model

The mental health and psychological crisis of some Chinese college students today are extremely abnormal, which has attracted the attention of many relevant personnel. Due to various external reasons, the psychological construction of Chinese college students is very pessimistic. Kalman filter is a regression calculation method for processing data. The standard calculation of this filter has the smallest data error, so that relevant data can be recursive. Within the relevant time domain, this calculation method can select suitable filters to accurately calculate high-dimensional and low-dimensional system data. This paper mainly solves some problems encountered, thus proving the effectiveness of Kalman filter calculation method. Finally, we can get the advantages and disadvantages of these filter systems, so as to improve these disadvantages, and finally improve the Rate of convergence of this calculation method. Through the corresponding experimental results, we can see that these calculation methods are correct. By analyzing these data, the analysis results show that this calculation method can effectively predict students' mental health problems, and the designed system can reduce the occurrence of psychological crisis events among college students.

Replication studies in engineering design – a feasibility study

AbstractThis paper examines the replicability of studies in design research triggered by the replication crisis in psychology. It highlights the importance of replicating studies to ensure the robustness of research results and examines whether the description in a publication is sufficient to replicate. Therefore, the publication of a reference study was analysed and a replication study was conducted. The design of the replication study appears similar to the reference study, but the results differ. Possible reasons for the differences and implications for replication studies are discussed.

"Growth under pressure": The Experience of COVID-19 ICU Nurses - A Qualitative Study.

As an epidemic, COVID-19 has brought a new shock to the world's healthcare system. The crisis caused by this disease and the prolonged involvement of communities and healthcare systems have intensified the duties and psychological burden of nurses. The current study aimed to explain the experience of ICU nurses during the COVID-19 crisis. The present study was conducted using conventional content analysis in 2021. Twenty nurses of the COVID-19 ICU of Ahvaz hospitals were selected by purposive sampling. The main method of data collection was semistructured interview. The process of data analysis was done based on Granheim and Lundman's approach using MAXQDA-2020. For the scientific rigor of the findings, Guba and Lincoln's four criteria were abided by. The COREQ (Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research) checklist was used to ensure the study met the recommended standards of qualitative data reporting. After data analysis, 22 subcategories, eight categories, and one theme (growth under pressure) were extracted. The eight main categories included (psychological crisis, physical exhaustion, family conflicts, complex care, professional development, expertise, life enrichment, and full support). Despite the pressures that ICU nurses faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, they were able to grow by benefiting from positive experiences. These findings can lead to the development and implementation of effective interventions to improve adaptation strategies of nurses, especially those working in the intensive care unit, during the COVID-19 and other future crises.

In order to understand the psychological crisis and physiological changes during adolescence, it is important to know the period of adolescence and the normal development of the periods leading up to this time. These processes appear as a manifestation of the organic development of the brain. Adolescence has an indispensable role in the formation of a person as a personality. Aggressive behavior among teenagers is widespread and increasing in modern times. Such teenagers deform the values and attitudes towards the society. Egoism, indifference to the feelings of others, and negative behavior are typical characteristics of such teenagers.

Guidance To Build Mental Well-Being: The Role Of Guidance And Counseling

Guidance and counseling plays a crucial role in helping individuals overcome various psychological and emotional problems in contemporary society. The need for these services is increasingly urgent, not only as a response to psychological crises, but also as an effort to prevent and build sustainable mental well-being. Research shows that guidance and counseling is effective in helping individuals overcome stress, anxiety, depression, as well as develop adaptive and problem-solving skills necessary in facing life's challenges. Moreover, the importance of this service lies not only in its individual dimension, but also in its contribution to overall public health. Through holistic and coordinated services, guidance and counseling can help reduce the burden of mental illness, increase productivity, and strengthen social and support networks. However, guidance and counseling practitioners are faced with new challenges and rapidly evolving opportunities, such as the application of technology in online counseling practices. In addition, social and cultural contexts play an important role in guidance and counseling practice, making the integration of cross-cultural perspectives an urgent necessity. In response to the evolving challenges and opportunities, guidance and counseling practitioners need to strengthen their competencies through continuous education, training, and professional development. New research and innovations in the fields of neuroscience, positive psychology, and technology-based therapies also have a significant impact on guidance and counseling, so practitioners must continue to adapt to the latest scientific developments. In an era where stress and life pressure are on the rise, a proactive approach in promoting mental wellbeing is becoming increasingly urgent. Therefore, guidance and counseling should not only focus on addressing problems, but also on prevention and building adaptive skills that can improve the overall quality of life. All in all, it can be concluded that guidance and counseling has a very important role in supporting the mental and social well-being of individuals as well as society at large.

Case Study of “Five-Tier Pyramid” Psychological Education: Analysis of Interpersonal Crisis Intervention for College Students with Depression

In recent years, the prevalence of depression among college students has steadily increased due to factors such as their primary family environment, societal pressures, interpersonal relationships, and self-perception. These students are particularly susceptible to psychological crises upon entering university campuses. Empowering students with depression and serving as their spiritual “ferrymen” is a critical initiative for university counselors committed to their original mission of cultivating virtue and nurturing students. It is essential to thoroughly understand the developmental experiences and real-life challenges faced by students with depression, delving beyond their overt behavioral manifestations to uncover the underlying root causes, thereby effectively addressing their practical issues. This study proposes the “five-tier Pyramid” psychological education framework, which integrates the collaborative efforts of the institution, faculty, counselors, classes, and students. By harnessing the comprehensive effects of holistic, ongoing, and all-encompassing psychological education, it aims to enhance intervention strategies for students with depression, offering practical insights for university counselors engaged in crisis prevention and intervention.

At present, our school in the basis of peer members, established the peer team, the combination of two teams greatly improved the coverage of mental health work in colleges and universities, for now the construction of the team to solve the psychological problems of college students universal results, this paper in Hunan university of technology institute of transportation, for example, analysis of peer members and peer team selection, training, optimization of management ideas.

Regarding the criminological study of suicidal behavior determinants among law enforcement bodies employees

The article carries out a criminological study of the determinants of suicidal behavior among police officers. The authors note that in recent years there has been a rapid increase in the number of suicides and suicide attempts, including ones among law enforcement officers. It was determined that criminology as a complex science allows to study suicide not only from a legal point of view, but also from the point of view of other sciences, such as sociology and psychology. There is still a debate among legal scholars whether to refer the problem of suicide to the problems of criminological research. According to scientists, the main reason for insufficient attention of criminologists is that suicide is not a criminal offense in most countries of the world.
 It is determined that suicide has become common among employees of internal affairs bodies aged 25 to 40. Given that law enforcement is a critical and extreme type of activity, suicides among law enforcement officers have specific determinants. Law enforcement officers are a category of persons who need special attention in view of the possibility of developing suicidal behavior, since the availability of weapons provides an opportunity to choose the most lethal methods of suicide. The authors agree with the opinion of the researchers that the greatest impact on a law enforcement officer is not so much household and family problems as the psychological burden associated with the service activity. In other words, socio-psychological maladjustment is the main determinant of suicidal behavior among law enforcement officers. Suicidal behavior is often associated with a psychological crisis that can occur under the influence of threats of various kinds. A person in such a crisis state decides that suicide is the only way to solve problems.
 It has been proven that suicidal behavior among law enforcement officers is caused by a number of determinants that individually and collectively have a negative impact on the policeman's personality, as a result of which his social and psychological well­being is destroyed, the protective functions of body and psyche are depleted, and mental disorders and mental illnesses may occur.

The Application of Chinese Cultural Psychology in Psychological Crisis Intervention for College Students with Depression and Suicide

At present, multiple pressures and bad guidance cause college students to fall into confusion and contradiction, which leads to such problems as selfishness, indifference, anxiety, fear, coercion and other psychological discomfort phenomena, as well as frequent suicide incidents. Eliminating the psychological crisis of college students has become an important task faced by colleges and universities. Applying Chinese cultural psychology to the psychological crisis intervention may have great guiding significance for the current psychological crisis intervention of college students. Psychological crisis intervention for suicidal ideation in patients with depression can improve their mental health level and reduce the risk of suicide.
