Abstract A general ligand-free protocol has been described for the recyclable and reusable Cu–Mn catalyzed C–N bond forming cross coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with various amines to form N-arylated amine products in aqueous medium affording excellent yields under ambient conditions, in 3–4 h.

Solvent-free N-arylation of amines with arylboronic acids under ball milling conditions

Solvent-free coupling reactions of arylboronic acids with various amines were presented under ball milling conditions, achieving the aromatic amine coupling products with yields ranging from moderate to good. This type of mechano-chemistry exhibited advantages of solvent-free property, high efficiency, simple work-up procedure and eco-friendliness.

Polystyrene-Immobilised Phenanthroline Palladium(II) Complex: A Highly Efficient and Recyclable Catalyst for Oxidative Heck Reactions

Oxidative Heck coupling reactions of arylboronic acids with olefins were carried out in the presence of the polystyrene-immobilised phenanthroline palladium(II) complex using air as a co-oxidant to afford the Heck coupling products in high yields under base-free conditions. This heterogeneous palladium catalyst can be recovered by simple filtration and used for several times without loss of activity or selectivity.

Base-Free Cu(II)-Catalyzed Coupling Reaction of Arylboronic Acids and Thiols

Baes-free Cu(II)-catalyzed coupling reaction of arylboronic acid and thiols was described. After optimization of reaction conditions, such as solvents, reaction temperatures, copper salts and ligands, the results show that some biarylsulfides were synthesized in good yields using 1,10-phenanthroline-Cu(OAc)2•H2O as catalyst, DMSO/H2O (V∶V=1∶1) as solvent, under air atmosphere at 60 . ℃

Efficient use of a surfactant for copper-catalyzed coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with imidazoles in water

Copper-catalyzed oxidative coupling of arylboronic acids with imidazoles in water was realized by using an amphiphilic surfactant. By choosing an appropriate surfactant, reactions of a variety of arylboronic acids proceeded smoothly under mild and base-free conditions, providing an efficient, practical, and greener method for the synthesis of N-arylimidazoles.

Synthesis, characterization of palladium hydroxysalen complex and its application in the coupling reaction of arylboronic acids: Mizoroki–Heck type reaction and decarboxylative couplings

Abstract (Salen-OH)Pd (1, salen-OH N,N′-bis(3,5-di-hydroxysalicylidene)-ethylenediamine) was prepared by a simple one step reaction and fully characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. This palladium complex showed good activities as a catalyst in the Mizoroki–Heck-type reaction and the decarboxylative coupling reaction. In the Mizoroki–Heck type reaction, arylboronic acids and alkenes were reacted at 90 °C for 3 h in the presence of 2.0 mol% of the palladium complex 1 and AgOAc to give the desired coupled product in good yields. In the decarboxylative coupling reactions, the desired coupled products were obtained in good yields when 0.5 mol% of the palladium complex was employed at room temperature.

NHC–Pd(II)–Im (NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene, Im=1-methylimidazole) complex catalyzed coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with carboxylic acid anhydrides in water

A well-defined N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)–palladium chloride–imidazole complex exhibited high catalytic activity in the coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with carboxylic acid anhydrides in pure water under mild conditions. Under the optimal conditions, all reactions gave the desired coupling products in moderate to high yields.

A New Strategy for the One Pot Synthesis of (Aryloxyimino)Ethylcoumarins Promoted by CuCl2

Cupric chloride showed efficient catalytic activity for the cross coupling reaction of arylboronic acids and (hydroxyi mino)ethylcoumarins at room temperature in the presence of NEt3 as base. A simple and convenient protocol for the synthesis of O-aryloxime ethers having the highly base sensitive coumarin nucleus is reported. O-Aryloxime ethers are important as they provide access to scaffolds for the generation of various biologically active compounds. They are potential precursors to benzofurans and benzisoxazoles.

Abstract [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)3] was found to be an efficient catalyst for the coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with aryl aldehydes. The reaction proceeded smoothly in the presence of K2CO3 and H2O to give diaryl ketones in good yields. Imidazole‐coordinated monodentate NHC–Pd(II) complex derived from proline and its application to the coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with carboxylic acid anhydrides in water at room temperature

AbstractCleavage of a CN bond of imidazolium salt derived from N‐phenyl‐substituted proline was observed in this laboratory. A novel imidazole‐coordinated monodentate NHC–Pd(II) complex 5 was obtained as the sole product in good yield in the reaction of imidazolium salt 4 with Pd(OAc)2 in refluxing THF. The structure of complex 5 was determined unambiguously by an X‐ray diffraction. The complex was found to be a good catalyst in the cross‐coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with carboxylic acid anhydrides in water at room temperature. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Synthesis of Highly Substituted Acenes through Rhodium-Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of Arylboron Reagents with Alkynes

The rhodium-catalyzed oxidative 1:2 coupling reactions of arylboronic acids or their esters with alkynes smoothly proceed to produce the corresponding annulated products. Of special note, highly substituted, readily soluble, and tractable anthracene and tetracene derivatives can be obtained selectively from 2-naphthyl- and 2-anthrylboron reagents, respectively.

Synthesis of Highly Substituted Naphthalene and Anthracene Derivatives by Rhodium-Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of Arylboronic Acids with Alkynes
