CIPP Evaluation of Counseling Guidance Programs

Moral problems become student problems that occur as part of the impact of globalization. This research aimed to evaluate guidance and counseling services at MAN 1 Bengkulu Utara as supporting students in solving their problems and developing their potential. The evaluation model used is the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model to get a more comprehensive and in-depth picture of the guidance and counseling program. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained from guidance and counseling coordinators, guidance and counseling teachers and students using interview techniques, document study, and observation. The results of the research showed that in the Context aspect, achievement is in the high category, as well as in the program Input aspect which is also in the high category. Meanwhile, the Process program aspect is also in the high category, but the Product aspect is in the medium category. The conclusion is that the guidance and counseling program can be said to be well implemented. Only moderate product categories still need to be improved. Furthermore, to improve program implementation, there are several recommendations, including the preparation of special documents for guidance and counseling profiles; documents detailing special funds for guidance and counseling programs; and additional guidance and counseling teachers.

Strengthening the Language of Love as a Prevention Measure School Bullying Prevention

Bullying in schools is a complex problem that requires serious attention. This study aims to examine the potential for strengthening love language as one of the effective prevention efforts in bullying cases in schools. The study focuses on literature that discusses the relationship between love language, positive social bonds, and prosocial behavior. The methodological procedure of this article uses a literature review approach. The results of the study show that love language with indicators of affirmative words, acts of service, gifts, quality time, and physical touch has great potential in creating an inclusive and supportive school climate. This study also identifies several factors that can affect the success of the implementation of love language in efforts to prevent bullying in schools, namely; training for educators, parent involvement, and support from the school environment. The practical implications of this study are the importance of integrating love language in school curricula and counseling programs to prevent and overcome bullying in schools.

A scoping review of nursing interventions for reducing the negative impacts of domestic violence among women.

Incidences of domestic violence against women are increasingly every years. Domestic violence has the negative impacts on physical problems, psychological problems, and can even cause death. Nurses have a role for providing interventions to reduce the impact of domestic violence on women. The purpose of this study is to explore methods of nursing interventions in reducing the traumatic effect of domestic violence among women. This study used a scoping review method. The literature used in this study from CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus databases. Search articles used the keywords domestic violence, impact, women, and victims. PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews are used for selecting articles. The inclusion criteria for the articles in this study were that the sample was female victims of sexual violence, randomized control trial or quasi-experimental research design, and last 10 years for publications period (2013-2022). From three databases, we found 579 articles. After elimination-based inclusion and exclusion criteria, we found 10 articles discussing the effect of nursing interventions in reducing the impact of domestic violence on female victims. Most of the studies from USA and the range of respondents in the articles is 112-1250 respondents. The methods used in providing nursing interventions are classified into three, namely self-management programs, counseling programs, social support programs. The activities carried out in nursing interventions in the form of psychoeducation, relaxation, meditation, and also discussions about solving problems encountered. All articles show that nursing interventions are effective in reducing the impact of domestic violence on women. Nurses have an important role to provide comprehensive nursing care to victims of domestic violence by paying attention to various aspects, namely physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects to improve safety and comfort of patients. This study is the basis for nurses to provide comprehensive nursing care to reduce the impact of domestic violence among women victims of domestic violence.

Enhancing patient activation: a controlled implementation study of an interprofessional evidence-based counseling program for complementary and integrative healthcare in cancer patients ('CCC-Integrativ').

Complementary and integrative healthcare (CIH) is increasingly recognized as a valuable approach to empowering and activating cancer patients. Studies have shown that higher patient activation is positively associated with improved health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. The CCC-Integrativ study aimed to assess the implementation of an evidence-based counseling service on CIH at four Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCC) in Germany. In this controlled implementation study, the patient-level intervention included three CIH consultations within a 3-month period delivered by interprofessional teams of physicians and nurses. The primary endpoint was patient activation using the PAM-13 at baseline (T1) and post-intervention (T2), and compared between control (CO, receiving routine care) and the intervention group (IG) using an analysis of covariance. Missing data were handled with multiple imputations. Maintenance effects at 6-month follow-up (T3) were investigated using a linear mixed model. A total of n = 1128 oncology patients (CO = 443, IG = 685) with diverse tumor entities and cancer stages were included in the study. The overall mean baseline PAM-13 score was 69.74 (SD = 14.24) (n = 959 (85.0%)). A statistically significant between-group difference in post-intervention PAM-13 scores was observed (Fgroup(1, 1866.82) = 8.634, P = 0.003), with an adjusted mean difference of 2.22 PAM-points. Age, gender, tumor entity, disease stage, or CCC study site did not significantly predict post-treatment PAM-13 scores. The maintenance effect of the intervention was not statistically significant (FtimeXgroup(1, 3316.04) = 2.337, P = 0.096). Individually tailored counseling on CIH, offered by specifically trained, interprofessional teams, significantly improved patient activation. Given the established positive effects of higher patient activation, the implementation of such a program at cancer centers may yield beneficial outcomes for both patients and the healthcare system.

Psychometric Properties of the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) Among Students at Jeddah University, KSA

Objectives: The current study examines the psychometric properties (validity and reliability) of the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) to verify its adequacy for the Saudi environment. The study identifies gender differences in smartphone addiction at Jeddah University and highlights a variety of smartphone-based activities. Methods: The sample consists of (272) male and female students at Jeddah University, and it is divided into )152( female students and )120( male students, respectively representing 55.9% and 44.1%. Their ages range from 19 to 23 years old with an average age of 21.66 and a standard deviation of 1.732. The tools include a basic data collection form and the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) by Kwon et al., 2013a. Results: The study shows that the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) has good psychometric properties, reflecting its validity and reliability in the Saudi environment. Moreover, the study reveals that there are significant differences between male and female university students in smartphone addiction at 0.001, favoring male students. That is, male students suffer more from smartphone addiction than female students. In addition, the study shows that there are diverse smartphone-based activities among students. Conclusion: Based on the results, the study recommends offering counseling programs, lectures, and seminars to raise awareness of the negative effects of using smartphones and to help university students (especially males) to get rid of this behavioral addiction.

ASK HEART GAME CARD DEVELOPMENT TO PROVIDE AN UNDERSTANDING OF MARRIAGE READINESS IN EARLY ADULTHOOD

This research aims to provide an understanding of marriage readiness in early adulthood through the media of the Tanya Hati card game as an effort to fulfill one of the developmental tasks in early adulthood. Apart from that, this research was carried out as a form of optimizing the Guidance and Counseling program through the development of Guidance and Counseling media in the form of game cards. The research method used is “Research and Development” using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation). Data collection through observation, interviews and questionnaires. The research results show that the Tanya Hati card game media developed is very suitable for use with an average result of 85% from expert assessments. Based on limited trials on 8 students, the heart question card game media obtained a score of 84%. The research results show that the development of the Tanya Hati card game media is valid and effective as a medium that provides an understanding of marriage readiness in early adulthood.

Post-discharge tobacco abstinence in a Mumbai hospital after implementation of tobacco cessation counseling: A pragmatic evaluation of the LifeFirst program.

Hospitalization provides a key opportunity to address tobacco use. Few studies have examined cessation treatment in hospitals in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). We aimed to measure tobacco abstinence among individuals discharged from a Mumbai hospital after the implementation of cessation counseling compared to abstinence among those discharged pre-implementation. Pre-post intervention study in the Prince Aly Khan Hospital, Mumbai pre- (11/2015-10/2016) and post-implementation (02/2018-02/2020) of LifeFirst counseling. LifeFirst is multi-session (up to six sessions) counseling extending from hospitalization up to six months post-discharge. Primary analyses compare self-reported 6-month continuous abstinence among hospitalized individuals post-implementation (intervention) with pre-implementation (comparator) using an intent-to-treat approach that includes all participants offered LifeFirst post-implementation in the intervention group. Secondary analyses compare those who received ≥ 1 LifeFirst session with the pre-implementation group. We enrolled n = 437 individuals pre-implementation (8.7% dual use, 57.7% smokeless tobacco, 33.6% smoking) and n = 561 post-implementation (8.6% dual use, 64.3% smokeless tobacco, 27.1% smoking). Post-implementation, 490 patients (87.3%) accepted ≥ 1 counseling session. Continuous abstinence 6-months post-discharge was higher post-implementation (post: 41.6% vs. pre: 20.0%; adjusted odds ratio [aOR]: 2.86, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.94-4.21). Those who received LifeFirst had higher odds of continuous abstinence compared to pre-implementation (aOR: 2.95, 95% CI 1.98-4.40). Post-discharge abstinence was more common after implementation of a multi-session tobacco counseling program for hospitalized patients compared to abstinence among patients hospitalized before implementation. These findings represent observational evidence of a promising association between post-discharge abstinence and a hospital-based tobacco cessation program implemented within routine practice in an LMIC setting.

Recruitment and retention of minoritized students in CACREP‐accredited counseling programs

AbstractThe recruitment and retention of minoritized students is critical for diversifying the counseling profession. Accreditation standards and scholarship provide little guidance on best practices. We sampled 38 administrators from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs to understand recruitment and retention practices for minoritized students. We found four themes and provide implications for counselor education.

ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN BAHAN BACAAN ANTI BULLYING UNTUK OPTIMALISASI GERAKAN ANTIBULLYING DI SD NEGERI 1 SUMITA

Based on the discussion review, it can be concluded that the results of this study are that there are differences in perception between teachers and Principals regarding the frequency of bullying incidents. The majority of teachers stated that bullying rarely occurs, while Principals identified that bullying often occurs. This difference indicates the need for relevant reading materials to improve understanding of bullying, both for students and teachers. Teachers agree that anti-bullying reading materials are very important in helping students understand the negative impacts of bullying and instilling anti-violence values. This study suggests the development of anti-bullying reading materials that are interesting, easy to understand, and supported by images in order to increase students' awareness and interest in understanding the issue of bullying. In addition to the research findings, best practices in this study include the following: Development of Interesting and Relevant Reading Materials, Involvement of Teachers in the Anti-Bullying Literacy Process, Use of Reading Materials as Discussion Tools, Combination with Guidance and Counseling Programs, Collaboration Between Schools and Parents, and Developing special guidelines containing practical steps in handling bullying cases at school.

Effects of job stress and emotional labor on depression in call-center workers

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of job stress and emotional labor on depression among call center workers. Data collection was conducted from October 2 to October 30, 2023. The subjects were 175 workers at a large IT call center located in Seoul, Korea. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 23.0. As for data analysis, differences in job stress, emotional labor, and depression were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to determine the correlation between job stress, emotional labor, and depression. Finally, multiple regression analysis was conducted on factors affecting depression. As a result of this study, the factors affecting call center workers' depression were the number of family members living together (t=-2.650, p=0.009), job stress (t=3.743, p<0.001), and emotional labor (t=2.064, p=0.041), (F=10.306, p<.001). In other words, the greater the number of call center workers' family members living with, the lower the level of depression, the higher job stress and the higher the emotional labor, the higher the level of depression. In conclusion, workplaces should conduct a full survey on the level of job stress and emotional labor to reduce the level of depression among call center workers. In addition, measures are needed to reduce job stress, and depending on the results, professional counseling and healing programs are needed for workers who complain of mental illness.

The effectiveness of sociodrama techniques in preventing moral disengagement tendencies in high school students

The increasing behavior of students who violate morals can reflect the increasing tendency of students' moral disengagement. Sociodrama is believed to be an effective technique in preventing moral disengagement tendencies in students. This research aims to prove the effectiveness of sociodrama techniques in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in students. This research design uses a one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 25 students from class XI-2 of Kepanjen Islamic High School, obtained through purposive sampling. The instrument used to collect data is the moral disengagement scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test show that sociodrama techniques are effective in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in students. The novelty in this research lies in the classical guidance service with sociodrama techniques which functions as a preventive service that focuses on students with a moderate level of moral disengagement. Meanwhile, previous research used different techniques and functioned as a curative service that focused on students with a high level of moral disengagement. This research concludes that sociodrama techniques are effective in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in high school students. The implications of these findings show the importance of applying sociodrama techniques in guidance and counseling programs in schools.

In a cohort of 961 clinically suspected Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients, 105 were diagnosed to have other muscular dystrophies (OMDs), with LGMD2E (variant SGCB c.544A>C) being the most common.

Targeted next generation sequence analyses in a cohort of 961 previously described patients with clinically suspected Duchene muscular dystrophy (DMD) revealed that 145/961 (15%) had variants in genes associated with other muscular dystrophies (OMDs). NGS was carried out in DMD negative patients after deletion/duplication analysis followed by WES for No variant cases. The majority of patients with OMDs had autosomal recessive diseases that included Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophies (LGMDs), Bethlem, Ullrich congenital Myopathies and Emery-Driefuss muscular dystrophy. 3.5% of patients were identified with other disorders like Charcot-Marie Tooth and Nemaline myopathy. A small percentage of patients, 0.6% remain undiagnosed. Of a total of 78 genetic variants identified, 44 were found to be novel. Interestingly, a third of patients with OMDs were found to have LGMD2E/R4, a severe form of LGMD that afflicts young children with clinical symptoms similar to DMD. Almost one third of the unrelated LGMD2E/R4 patients had the same point mutation (c.544A>C) in the SGCB gene, suggestive of a founder effect, described here for the first time in India. This study underscores the need for a complete genetic work up to precisely diagnose patients and to initiate appropriate counseling programs, disease management and prevention strategies.

Strategies for Effective Occupational Stress Management in the Workplace

Effective stress management involves addressing and mitigating occupational stress among employees. Designing a successful stress management program requires identifying key factors that influence employees’ ability to manage workplace stress. This also involves selecting intervention models that can effectively target these factors. The management framework conceptualizes occupational stress as an outcome of how stressors are perceived and how employees evaluate their coping resources. Organizational strategies to control occupational stress tend to take a more proactive approach. This study examines occupational stress management at both organizational and individual levels, aiming to enhance our understanding of effective workplace coping strategies for occupational stress. The study results indicate that IT employees, at both individual and organizational levels, expect organizations to implement stress management strategies, including counseling, training and development programs, proper recognition, career advancement opportunities, effective performance management systems, open communication, and ample support from management.

Spousal Postpartum Social Support and Association with Sexual Function and Sexual Quality of Life among Breastfeeding Women

Background: The present study investigated the relationship between spousal support during postpartum period and the sexual function and sexual quality of life among lactating women. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out from October to March 2021 comprising 301 breastfeeding women referred to comprehensive health centers in Qazvin, Iran. The sampling method was performed in two stages. First, via cluster sampling, ten comprehensive health centers were randomly selected. Then based on the list of lactating mothers, 31 mothers in each center were randomly selected and invited to complete the survey. The survey included three psychometric instruments (i.e., Postpartum Partner Support Scale [PPSS], Female Sexual Function Index [FSFI] and Sexual Quality of Life-Female version [SQOL-F]) as well as a reproductive and demographic information questionnaire. The findings were analyzed using univariable and multivariable regression models at a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The participants had a mean age of 30.33 years and a mean length of marriage of 7.99 years. A total of 219 women were exclusively breastfeeding (72.8%), and 82 used a combination of breastfeeding and formula milk to feed their infants (27.2%). The mean (standard deviation) scores in the postpartum period were 61.34 out of 80 (SD=11.41) on the PPSS, 86.52 out of 108 (SD=19.68) on the SQOL-F, and 22.78 out of 36 (SD=6.20) on the FSFI. Based on adjusted multivariable regression models, spousal support in the postpartum period was a significant predictor of sexual quality of life (β=0.39, p<0.001) but not a significant predictor of sexual function. Sexual quality of life was a significant predictor of sexual function (β=0.44, p<0.001). Conclusion: Given the importance of spousal support during the postpartum period in relation to sexual quality of life and sexual function, designing and implementing counseling programs based on the role of spousal support during postpartum sexual life would be helpful.

베이비부머의 사회적자본과 삶의 질의 관계에서 평생학습참여도의 매개효과

Objectives The purpose of this study was to establish counseling intervention strategies that can increase social capital and lifelong education participation of baby boomers in career education and career counseling sites, and to provide various basic data to improve quality of life. Methods For this purpose, 112 responses were received and analyzed through an online survey from October 8 to 15, 2023, targeting baby boomers (born between 1955 and 1963) living in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. For the collected data, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted for each variable using the SPSS 23.0 statistical program, and the Sobel Test was conducted to analyze statistical significance. Results First, baby boomers social capital was found to have a significant positive effect on quality of life. Second, baby boomers social capital was found to have a positive effect on lifelong education participation. Third, baby boomers lifelong education participation was found to have a positive effect on quality of life. Fourth, lifelong edu-cation participation was found to mediate the relationship between baby boomers social capital and quality of life. Conclusions The results of this study show that in order to improve the quality of life of baby boomers, it is neces-sary to recognize the need for social capital and lifelong education and to develop and implement education and counseling programs that can provide systematic help.

Factors influencing the completion of extensive reading tasks: A case study of Indonesian students in tertiary EFL class

Extensive Reading (ER) has received considerable attention in foreign language teaching and learning in Indonesia. However, research on student engagement and completion rates of ER assignments in higher education is limited. This qualitative case study investigates the factors that influence the completion of ER assignments among students in a counselling programme at a state university in Kalimantan. Using semi-structured interviews, the study explores students' perspectives and experiences to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they face in completing extensive reading assignments. The findings reveal a complex interplay of factors that impede task completion, including lack of intrinsic motivation and interest in reading, vocabulary difficulties, and the learning environment. These findings highlight the critical role of English language teachers in creating a motivating and supportive learning environment, providing targeted vocabulary instruction and fostering a reading culture to maximise the benefits of ER for language acquisition and academic success in higher education.

Implementation of Education Re-Entry Policy for Adolescent Mothers in Urambo District, Tanzania

In Tanzania, adolescent mothers were pre+viously been prohibited from returning to public secondary schools particularly during the fifth government phase led by the late President John Joseph Pombe Magufuli. However, under his successor President Samia Suluhu Hassan, a new re-entry policy for adolescent mother has been re-introduced. The policy aims to address the challenges faced by adolescent mothers who drop out of school due to pregnancy. Although the policy granted the opportunities for adolescent mothers to continue with their studies after giving birth, its implementation in country is still uncertain. It is against this backdrop that the current study explored the perceptions held by selected educational stakeholders and adolescent mothers to appraise the extent to which the re-entry education policy has thus far been implemented, drawing on a case of the secondary schools sampled from Urambo District, in Tanzania. The study deployed the interpretivist approach and phenomenological research design. Purposive sampling was used to select ten study participants reflecting two counter factual scenarios, namely: adolescent mothers who enrolled through re-entry program after delivery and who did not do so after delivery. The methods of data collection included in-depth interview with adolescent mothers and key informants; and focus grouped discussions with community members. The data were analysed through thematic analysis. The study findings revealed that implementation of the re-entry policy is marked with several challenges on part of the adolescent mothers which include: lack of support from families and schools. More to say, there prevails a stubbornly rigid and unchanging social stigma subjecting the typologies of the mothers into a state of dilemma, making it difficult for them to perform both the expected double roles of a mother and student simultaneously. The study also disclosed a lack of clarity on the re-entry policy guidelines, which has forced some of the re-entry policy implementers to use their own discretions. Additionally, the findings indicated that awareness creation was not sufficient enough to enable adolescent mother especially in remote areas to enrol back to school after pregnancy. The paper recommends that, for successful implementation of the re-entry policy, comprehensive counselling programmes for adolescent mothers and awareness creation among the educational stakeholders and community members are inevitable.

Empowering Global Health Systems to Protect, Promote and Support Optimal Breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is a critical public health strategy for optimal child development and maternal health across the life course. The 2021 Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors Study reveals that, despite reductions in mortality and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) attributed to suboptimal breastfeeding practices-namely, non-exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months or early discontinuation within the first 2 years-low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) continue to bear a staggering 50-fold higher burden compared to high-income nations. This inequity signals a pressing global health priority. Hence, we propose to address these challenges by first, expanding the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) reach through community-driven efforts such as the Baby-Friendly Community Initiative (BFCI) to enhance breastfeeding support in both clinical and community settings; second, embedding breastfeeding counselling within national health and social protection programmes to fill in gaps in culturally competent care, drawing on large scale breastfeeding peer counselling programme experiences like the one being implemented by the US Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC); third, improving maternity leave policies and workplace accommodations for breastfeeding women and fourth, stringent regulation of exploitative commercial milk formula (CMF) marketing to combat misinformation and reduce health inequities. Governments must implement strong, evidence-driven policies-such as strict monitoring and regulation of product labelling and digital media marketing-to establish safeguards against the powerful influence of the CMF industry. Collectively, these strategies will enhance breastfeeding outcomes, reduce health disparities and drive progress across countries towards meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

대학 집단상담 분야의 연구 동향 분석

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the research trends on group counseling in universities, and to provide implications for future research. Methods For this study, 150 domestic journal papers on university group counseling published from 2000 to April 2024 were analyzed for basic elements, research topics, research subjects, research methods, research types, and types of group counseling. Results The research results are as follows. First, as a result of analysis as a research topic, it was classified into counseling theory, career development, self-development, interpersonal relationships, emotions, subjective well-being and learning development. Second, most of the subjects of the study were general college students, and in addition, there were college students in specific majors such as education and nursing. And college students who had disability problems, psychology, and learning problems were the subjects. Third, as a result of analysis by research method, it was classified into quantitative research, qualitative research, and literature research. Quantitative research included methods such as difference test, variance analysis, and nonparametric test, and qualitative research included content analysis, phenomenological research, grounded theory, and FGI. Fourth, research types were classified into counseling effect research, process research, development research, meta research, and research trend survey. Among them, counseling effect research accounted for the largest proportion. Fifth, as a result of analyzing the types of group counseling programs, face-to-face counseling was the most common in the form of counseling, structured counseling was the most common in the counseling structure, and counselor-centered counseling was the most common in group leaders. Conclusions It was discussed the importance of applying various perspectives and methods when studying group counseling research in universities. In addition, implications for the development and implementation of an effective university group counseling program for college students were presented.

Implementasi Program Bimbingan Karir dalam Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar di SMKN 3 Madiun

This study aims to find out the first, to find out the level of student career planning when the career guidance program is in the independent learning curriculum, the second is whether there is a difference after being given a career guidance program in the independent learning curriculum. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study included school principals, deputy principals for curriculum, vice principals for student affairs, counseling teachers and students at SMKN 3 Madiun. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. From the results of this study it can be seen First; The implementation of the counseling program at SMKN 3 Madiun is quite good. Judging from the implementation of information services where the teacher always provides information about the world of work and the industrial world, the counseling teacher always provides counseling services to their students through class hours determined by the classical service method, the counseling teacher is also ready to provide individual counseling services when there are students who experience problems. . Second; The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMKN 3 Madiun was carried out well.
