Abstract 
 Improve the welfare of the community in the area around the company and corporate responsibility. This can happen because the community feels affected by the environment that comes from the company's operations. The improvement of conditions in the social environment is one way of fulfilling the responsibilities known as corporate social responsibility or CSR. The definition of economic democracy in the national economy is based on the principles of unity, equity, sustainability of function, environmental mobilization, independence, and in maintaining the balance of development and national economic unity, it is important to support the 'main economic institutions; to determine the welfare of the people. CSR activities for the community are a process of migration and are related to the existing resources in the community. Currently, Social Welfare is no longer voluntary in nature but it has become the responsibility of many companies to implement it, although so far there have been no serious sanctions imposed on non-CSR companies.

AbstractSupply chains are intended to become the essential part of this global competitive world as organizations are seeking to formulate strategized advantages. To put it differently, most of the companies are aiming to adopt new businesses and raise the competition in the global market. For this, most of the companies or organizations are choosing strategies such as corporate social responsibility and supply chain management that allow the companies to ensure financial strengthening. Moreover, stakeholders and customers have raised their concerns towards corporate social responsibility with respect to global supply chain and ensured to act in a socially responsible way. It is believed that majority of the organizations are placing high importance on implementing corporate social responsibility or CSR activities in order to enhance the whole business. The active participation of companies in CSR activities will always benefit them in terms of profit, virtues and other moral standards. Usually, corporate firms exhibit their virtues ignoring the moral standard, which eventually reveals the nature of hypocrisy. Corporate hypocrisy is a context when companies or organizations assure the public to do something in corporate social responsibility context and end up doing entirely different. Keeping this in mind, the current study aims to reveal the hidden nature of corporate hypocrisy and its effect on inner stakeholders explicitly focusing on the employees' observations on corporate hypocrisy; examine the hypocritical behaviour of the reputed firms towards the consumers, which in turn affects the supply chain globally. For this, data analysis will be carried out with consumer firms across countries. Results show that firms are completely held responsible for their behaviour eventually defaming reputation.

Assertiveness, Corporate Social Responsibility and Brand Association in Anti-globalization Era

This paper aims to look at the relationship among Assertiveness, a National value dimensions (NVD) component, CSR practices, and brand association in Bangladesh. Perceptions of the managers from different organizations of Bangladesh, an emerging economy, has been determined and recorded using a 7 point Likert scale. Purposive sampling has been used to select 113 respondents representing banking, the central bank, NGO, medical, academia, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and other service sectors. It is found that Bangladeshi managers are non-assertive implying the fact that the claim of Hofstede stating that Bangladesh is a masculine or, assertive society is invalid in this anti-globalization era (post-2008). The results of stepwise-regression prove that CSR to stakeholders, a dimension of overall CSR performance, is positively associated with brand association. Results also show that interaction between assertiveness and CSR to stakeholders have a negative and moderating effect on brand association in Bangladesh. If corporate CSR activities are taken in line with the findings of this article, the country will be able to build better resilience against natural and other disasters, a target under SDG 13. At the same time, it will help organizations to enhance their brand image; and more specifically, strengthen associations of consumers with the brand itself.

Corporate social responsibility and financial performance: Evidence from U.S tech firms

This study provides quantitative evidence on the positive effect of spending on socially responsible causes on the long-term growth of U.S technology companies. Maximizing shareholder wealth remains the overarching principle driving organizational strategies, but this has always conflicted with other stakeholders’ interests. Because of these conflicting priorities, entrenching the principles of social responsibility has become imperative. We leverage content analysis, fixed-effects and pooled regression models to examine the effect of engaging in CSR on tech companies’ corporate financial performance in the U.S. The empirical study consists of panel data of the top 100 tech companies listed on the S&P 500 for the period 2017 and 2019. We examine the link between corporate financial performance and CSR proxies. The main results indicate that tech companies that spend more on CSR experience a corresponding increase in revenue and profitability. Contrary to previous studies, we observe insignificant evidence to support a relationship between CSR and Tobin’s Q. • We investigate the effect of CSR on the corporate financial performance of U.S technology firms. • The model shows spending on CSR activities increases organizational growth. • Corporate governance moderates the impact of CSR spending on firm performance.

Measuring the association of environmental, corporate, financial, and social CSR: evidence from fuzzy TOPSIS nexus in emerging economies.

The purpose of this research is to measure the combing impact of corporate social responsibility on company performance and to conduct a comparative analysis among local and foreign companies in this context. This research aims to conduct an empirical analysis about how corporate social responsibility contributes to company performance. The study utilizes AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS theory to conduct research. The results revealed that environmental corporate social responsibility has a vital role in the development of organizational reputation and employee commitment. It can be observed from the results that the weights of environmental CSR, corporate CSR, financial CSR, and social CSR are 0.30, 0.25, 0.24, and 0.21, respectively. The preference of these four criteria is environmental CSR > corporate CSR > financial CSR > social CSR. The corporate CSR criterion got the maximum weight of 0.30, whereas the social CSR criteria received the lowest weight of 0.21. The financial CSR get weights of criteria 0.25, and the commercial potential obtained 0.24 weights, while the financial CSR got the 2nd highest criteria weight of 0.25, and the social CSR get weights of criteria 0.21 lowest weighted. The research provides valuable information for decision-makers. The study provides a valuable information for policy makers.

Corporate governance, law, culture, environmental performance and CSR disclosure: A global perspective

This paper investigates the impact of corporate governance and culture background on firms’ environmental performance and CSR disclosure from a global perspective. It provides evidence of a positive relationship between environmental performance and CSR disclosure, supporting the voluntary disclosure theory. We find that common internal corporate governance best practices (such as CEO non-duality, ESG committees and gender diversified boards) are associated with better environmental performance and more disclosure of CSR related information. Debt is an effective internal governance vehicle and positively affects firms’ environmental performance and CSR disclosure. Cross-listed firms perform better environmentally and disclose more CSR information. Firms residing in countries with stronger legal systems have less voluntary CSR disclosure, implying that external governance is functional and may partially serve as a substitute for internal governance. In terms of culture influence, we find that firms in countries with low power distance, individualism, femininity, high uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation perform better environmentally. Firms in low power distance, collectivistic, feminine, long-term oriented, high uncertainty avoidance and restrained countries disclose more CSR information.

기업의 갑질과 CSR 효과: 기업-CSR 적합성과 소비자의 CSR 이슈 관여도의 영향을 중심으로

갑질로 인한 기업의 위기는 국내의 기업들이 직면하는 가장 빈번한 종류의 위기이다. 과거와는 달리, 기업 갑질에 항의하는 소비자 불매운동은 일회성으로 그치지 않고 기업의 존폐까지 위협하는 상황을 초래하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 갑질로 인한 기업 위기가 만연한 국내 환경에서 갑질과 CSR 효과의 관계를 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구는 2(갑질 여부: 갑질/비갑질 기업) × 2(기업-CSR 적합성: 높음/낮음) × 2(CSR 이슈 관여도: 높음/낮음)의 실험 연구로 진행됐다. 총 222명의 답변이 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 비갑질 기업의 CSR 활동과 비교하여 피험자들은 갑질 기업의 CSR 활동에 대해 부정적으로 반응했다. 기업의 갑질 상황에서도, 기업-CSR 적합성은 CSR의 효과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변인이었다. 즉, 갑질 기업의 경우에도 기업-CSR 적합성이 높으면 CSR의 효과는 긍정적이었다. CSR 이슈 관여도는 CSR의 효과에 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 변인이었다. 반면, 소비자들의 제품 관여도는 기업의 CSR의 효과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 함의와 한계가 논의되었다.

About Whom to Care? Political Ideology and Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure in China

Using a nine-year sample of 3084 firm-year observations from Chinese listed firms, we are the first to theorize the ideological atmosphere, institutional contexts and their interactions on corporate social responsibility disclosure (CSR disclosure). We find that the corporate socialist atmosphere is significantly positively associated with CSR disclosure, implying that ideological influences in China are efficient in regulating organizational behavior in a scant of efficient market rules. The provincial marketization strengthens the positive association between the corporate socialist atmosphere and CSR disclosure, which implies that socialist ideology and marketization converge in driving CSR disclosure. These findings also lend insight into the compatibility of socialism and the market economy. Implications from this study provide a better understanding of the role of the Communist Party of China (the CPC) in economy transitioning, and a new understanding of CSR disclosure in ideology- dominated societies.

Impact of corporate governance on CSR disclosure

The study examines the impact of corporate governance on CSR disclosure practices of Indian companies. The corporate governance variables such as board age, audit committee size, board meetings, CEO duality, board independence, employee CSR training, independent directors board meetings, sustainability committee and women on board were used. The sample consists of 386 companies listed in the BSE 500 index for a period of 10 years from 2007–2016 and panel data regression is used for analysis. The study finds that the corporate governance variables such as board independence, CEO duality and sustainability committee improve CSR disclosure. In contrast, board age, employee CSR training and women on board weakens CSR disclosure. This study is important due to following reasons, firstly, Indian policymakers issued a wide set of voluntary and non-voluntary rules and guidelines on corporate governance and CSR disclosure. It is interesting to see its impact on Indian companies. Secondly, this study uses a more advanced Bloomberg ESG scores as well as individual environment, social and governance scores to measure the CSR disclosure. Finally, the study aims to fill the literature gap concerning corporate governance and CSR disclosure in India covering a larger study period and sample size.

A Study of Corporate CSR Effects on Corporate Crisis Management

Purpose: In modern corporate management, the establishment of a crisis management system that minimizes damage through measures used to respond to corporate crises is no longer an option. The importance of corporate reputation and brand asset management in modern enterprise management cannot be overemphasized and negative events that might arise from a number of different causes can cause brand crises. Research design, data and methodology: More than half of the questionnaire respondents were female (252 or 53%). More than a fourth of the respondents were aged 20 (122 or 26%) and the number of married participants was 196 (41%). Of the participants, 32% (153) had graduated from college. Only 18% (87) were employees and the monthly household income was 121. In this study, we conducted factor analysis in order to extract the variables that may enhance the explanation capability of each variable. For the method of factor extraction, an Eigen value of at least 1 was used as was factor loading. An analysis was performed using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient to verify the reliability of the measurement scale. Results: First, the analysis of the impact of the social responsibility activities on brand image revealed that the social, economic, philanthropic, ethical, and environmental responsibility activities significantly affected brand image, but legal responsibility activities were not statistically significant. Second, the analysis of the impact of brand image on loyalty showed that brand image had a significant impact on loyalty. Third, the analysis of the impact of social responsibility activities on loyalty showed that they had a significant impact on loyalty. Conclusions: The pro-social enterprise image is not only a brand asset that can be shared, but also a heavy proposition followed by a corresponding social responsibility, it will have to practice transparent corporate management based on clear principles through the establishment of various systems and the implementation of a strict code of conduct within the enterprise.

Echoes of CEO Entrepreneurial Orientation: How and When CEO Entrepreneurial Orientation Influences Dual CSR Activities

We explore the potential impact of CEO entrepreneurial orientation on firm choice of CSR activities (corporate philanthropy vs. CSR innovation). Integrating upper echelon theory and attention-based view of the firm, we find that CEO entrepreneurial orientation leads to more engagement in CSR innovation rather than corporate philanthropy. We find that the effect of CEO entrepreneurial orientation on firm choice of CSR activities varies under two situational contexts: state-owned enterprises and incoming/departing CEO. The hypotheses are tested using two different studies. Study 1 uses a cross-sectional survey of Chinese CEOs, whereas study 2 employs a longitudinal analysis of Chinese publicly listed firms from 2003 to 2017. Both studies support our theoretical hypotheses.

Examining Corporate Communications of Environmental Responsibility on Corporate Websites: Main Themes, Linguistic Features, and Text Reuse

The present study intends to examine environmental corporate social responsibility (ECSR) disclosure on official corporate websites within and across a collection of companies. Through an automated content analysis, the findings suggest two broad themes underlying corporate disclosure, and significant associations between personal pronoun usage/lexical diversity and corporate CSR performance were found. In addition, text reuse analysis illuminated certain communication patterns across different industries. Overall, the present study implicates not only theoretical research on ECSR disclosure, but also practical ECSR reporting on corporate websites.

The research location is divided into three areas, with three observation points. The study was conducted in August-September 2019. The sampling of mangroves was carried out using the Spot Check Method. The results showed that the types of mangroves found were 18 species from 12 families consisting of 14 species of true mangrove and four types of associated mangroves while the fauna found in the mangrove ecosystem of Bagan Serdang Village was 16 species of fish, nine species of crustaceans, 13 species of mollusks, four species of birds, one species of reptile, one species of mammal and one species of horse shoe crab. The results of the mangroves analysis in the Bagan Serdang Village’s mangrove ecosystem, including in moderate heading to damage condition. This could be seen from the death of several trees and the flourishing of A. ilicifolius species as a marker of mangrove, which tends to be damaged. The diversity of mangroves in the Bagan Serdang Village is lower (1.63) compared to aquatic organisms that reach 2.09 - 2.44. Corporate responsibility or CSR that PT Pertamina (Persero) TBBM Medan Group carried out in the village of Bagan Serdang with mangrove planting activities and ecotourism, as well as the development of processed mangrove products, could increase the value of diversity and increase the economy of the surrounding community.

The Strength of CEOs’Influence on CSR in Chinese listed Companies. New Insights from an Agency Theory Perspective

This study examined the strength of CEOs’ influence on CSR in Chinese listed companies. The companies chosen belonged to the non-financial sector and were listed in the Shanghai stock exchange from 2010 to 2019. The data was extracted from audited annual reports of companies including the director’s report, chairman’s statements, and notes to financial statements. We applied OLS regression as a baseline methodology to determine the extent and impact of CEO power on CSR disclosures. The results indicated significantly negative relationship between the CEOs’ power and CSR disclosure. Our results showed that separate roles of chairman and CEO can reduce agency problems and increase the CSR disclosures. This study is of importance for regulators, as it enforces the view that regulators and policymakers should continue efforts to improve corporate governance practices and CSR reporting in China, as these changes will not only improve the performance of companies but also befit society at large.

THE EFFECT OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DISCLOSURE ON COMPANY PROFITABILITY AND REPUTATION: EVIDENCE OF LISTED FIRMS IN INDONESIA

Corporate social responsibility or later abbreviated to CSR has become a trend and a hot topic that is widely discussed in Indonesia. Business practices in the past that tended to have a negative impact, made the discourse on corporate social responsibility or CSR. There seems to be a paradigm shift from being initially profit oriented, where any activity must be viewed from the point of adding financial benefits or not, becoming more concernedtowards socially responsible responsibilities. This topic became even more interesting with the enactment of Law no. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies, (UUPT) as of August 16, 2007, has given rise to a variety of controversies and disagreements. The resultsshow thatcorporate social responsibility disclosure is significant on profitability (ROA) ofhigh profile, but not significant on low profile firms. The Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure is significant on profitability (ROE) of high profile and low profile firms. The Corporate Social Responsibility disclosure is significant on reputation of high profile and low profile firms.

Menakar Plus Minus Penerapan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) di Industri Jasa Penerbangan

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to determine the company's understanding of CSR. In addition, this research is also to find out what has been done by the company in implementing CSR as well as to find out the impact on the implementation of CSR in the company. The research method used is a qualitative method. This research explores the interpretation and application of CSR of an airport management company as well as the impact of implementing the CSR. Data collection with interview techniques. The informants used as research objects were six people. Informant selection using a purposive sampling technique. The research location is PT. Angkasa Pura I (Persero) I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The results of the interview can be concluded that the company understands that CSR is not just a contribution. The company implements CSR in terms of workforce management and the Partnership and Community Development Program. Recipients of corporate CSR are labor and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and the general public. The impact felt by workers, SMEs, and the community also gives positive results. Workers get benefits for their needs and self-development opportunities in the form of education and training. SMEs get loan funds for the development of their businesses. Communities also get grant assistance to use what is needed. This study only uses manpower management and contributes to the community as an object of research. It is hoped that further research can add another aspect in the implementation of CSR in accordance with ISO 26000: 2010 namely corporate governance, human rights, fair business practices, consumer issues, and the environment.

Green Illusions: Governing CSR Aesthetics

This article makes a novel argument that governance of corporate environmental activities should recognize that the business corporation is an aesthetic phenomenon, including the environmental practices and communications undertaken in the name of “corporate social responsibility” [CSR]. Corporate identities and CSR practices are aesthetically projected through logos, trademarks, websites, the presentation of products and services, stylish offices, company uniforms, and other aesthetic artefacts. This corporate “branding” dovetails with the broader aestheticization of our pervasive media and consumer culture. Aesthetics has particular salience in CSR for influencing, and sometimes misleading, public opinion about corporate environmental performance. Consequently, in disciplining unscrupulous corporate behaviour, governance methods must be more responsive to such aesthetic characteristics. The green illusions of business communications create difficulties for regulation, which is better suited to disciplining discrete misleading statements about retailed products or trademarks rather than tackling the broader aesthetic character of business and the marketplace. The article suggests that non-state actors who are more sensitive to aesthetics can help to fill some of this governance void. The “counter-aesthetic” strategies of social and environmental activist groups can inject a subversive narrative that can help to unmask these green illusions. Although the history of such tactics suggests they probably have only a modest effect in challenging corporate deception, the law can assist by protecting public spaces from corporate marketing and sponsorship.
