Counseling on Cooperative Management as a Driving Force for Economic Empowerment at the Sukamiskin Islamic Boarding School Bandung

This Community Service aims to provide understanding to cooperative administrators and students at the Sukamiskin Islamic Boarding School regarding the benefits and effective management strategies of cooperatives. The method used in this research is interviews and direct observation of cooperative administrators and students involved in cooperative activities. The research results show that counseling about cooperative management is very important to increase the understanding and skills of cooperative administrators and students in managing cooperatives. In this outreach, information and training is provided regarding the basic principles of cooperative management, financial planning, risk management and marketing of cooperative products. With this outreach, it is hoped that cooperative management at the Sukamiskin Islamic Boarding School can become more effective and have a positive impact on community economic empowerment. Cooperative administrators and students will become more competent in managing cooperatives, so that they can generate better income for their members. Counseling on cooperative management as a driving force for economic empowerment at the Sukamiskin Islamic Boarding School, Bandung City is very important to increase the understanding and skills of cooperative administrators and students in managing cooperatives. It is hoped that this counseling can provide significant benefits in increasing the income and welfare of cooperative members.

A research report on a novel typological study of the Chinese metaphorical and metonymic idioms.

This report shows a novel classification of the Chinese metaphorical and metonymic idioms based on the Spreading-Activation Model (SA Model). Identified first are three features of the source domain within the Chinese metaphorical and metonymic idioms: (1) the relationship between the source and target domains, (2) the number of source domains within idioms, and (3) the inherent characteristics of the source domain. Then drawing on the SA Model, this report arrives at a novel classification of the Chinese metaphorical and metonymic idioms into four categories: (1) Directional activation Idioms, (2) Cooperative activation Idioms, (3) Spreading activation Idioms, and (4) Superimposed activation Idioms. Discussion is made on each category and a continuum of cognitive difficulty is established with respect to understanding different categories. This classification is of great help within the realm of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

The Influence of Negative Transfer of Mother Tongue on Oral English in Senior High Schools and Its Countermeasures

This study discusses the phenomenon of negative transfer of mother tongue, which is common in oral English learning in senior high schools. The research topic is divided into two parts: the influence of negative transfer of the mother tongue and its countermeasures, covering vocabulary misuse, phonetic influence and corresponding teaching strategies. Through literature analysis and theoretical comparison, the phenomenon of rigid mother tongue order and mechanical Chinglish is deeply discussed, and some countermeasures are put forward to solve the problem of negative transfer of mother tongue, such as contextualization practice, in-depth understanding of language characteristics and structure, application of cooperation and correction strategies, peer discussion and cooperative activities. The results show that these strategies can effectively reduce the negative impact of the mother tongue on oral English learning. The research conclusion emphasizes that in order to overcome the challenge of negative transfer of mother tongue, diversified and practical teaching methods should be adopted, emphasizing practical communication and cultural integration, aiming at cultivating students' all-round English application ability and cross-cultural communication ability.

In practice, cooperatives are institutions that are not only profit or profit oriented profit oriented but also on service or service oriented. One cooperative that is oriented towards these two aspects is Cooperative X, where this cooperative is a cooperative multipurpose which in carrying out its business activities has several business units to support or serve the needs of its members. With the existence of several business units to support members' needs, of course Cooperative X needs to serve its members well. One of them is by providing price benefits, both selling prices and purchasing prices, to members of the cooperative. Where the intended benefits are better known as direct economic benefits. The rise and fall of economic benefits is directly related to the management of the cooperative's capital structure which will later finance the cooperative's business activities. The aim of this research is to obtain an overview of the relationship between capital structure and direct economic benefits. The method used in this research is a case study and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of this research show that there is a negative relationship between capital structure and direct economic benefits, which means that when the capital structure of a cooperative decreases, direct economic benefits will increase. This can be seen from the development of the capital structure and direct economic benefits in 2022. Based on this, it can be concluded that in carrying out its business activities, Cooperative X has managed or used its loan capital well.

A teaching-learning sequence on colour in the context of a motivational stage for high school students

In this article we present a Teaching-Learning Sequence (TLS) on colour performed in the non-formal setting of a vocational stage with a sample of N=38 18-year-old high school students. Based both on previous educational research and the analysis of the characteristics of the Italian high school curriculum, the TLS adopts cooperative experimental investigation activities with low-cost equipment which help students distinguish different physical situations involving the combination of colours; furthermore, it focuses on developing a solid understanding of the connection between the physics and physiology of colour phenomena. The TLS was highly appreciated by students and, thanks in part to the inclusion of advanced topics such as photonic crystals and plasmons, it may have a significant motivational value.

Utilizing “E-Cooperative” Financial Technology For Business Sustainability

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on cooperative business activities. Business management models and mass marketing and direct selling are difficult to implement because of the high risk of spreading COVID-19 through direct interaction. Therefore, innovative efforts are needed so that the cooperative's business is running well so that the sustainability of the cooperative's business is maintained. Utilization of information technology is an alternative to solve the problem impact of the COVID-19 pandemic through the development of e-cooperatives, which are information technology-based media to facilitate virtual cooperative business management. E-cooperative is an alternative that allows the management of cooperatives with less contact. The stages of development are carried out through; identification of requirements/requirements definition, system and software design, implementation and unit testing, integration and system testing, operation and maintenance. The implementation of the e_cooperative application is expected to help manage cooperatives effectively and efficiently and facilitate cooperative management so that it has a positive impact on the business development of members, so that cooperatives and their members can remain productive and carry out economic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic by running a less contact economy. THE USE OF ENGLISH INTERACTION STRATEGIES IN COOPERATIVE LEARNING: A CASE STUDY OF FOUR CHINESE COLLEGE STUDENTS’ SPOKEN DISCOURSE

Background and Purpose: Previous studies have examined the efficacy of the cooperative learning approach to enhance speaking outcomes, but little is known about what happens in the interaction process of cooperative learning and how cooperative learning works to promote speaking interaction. The current study examines Chinese college students’ interaction strategies in cooperative learning activities and how cooperative learning instruction influenced their interaction strategy use.
 
 Methodology: This research adopted the sequential explanatory design. Thirty students from an intact class at a Chinese public university participated in a 12-week cooperative learning instruction and kept learner diaries over time. One cooperative learning team of four members was randomly chosen for observing their interaction strategy use throughout the semester fortnightly. The frequencies of their interaction strategies employed in the transcribed recordings were analysed through descriptive statistics and the learner diaries were analysed through thematic analysis.
 
 Findings: The findings indicated that the four students’ Modified-Interaction strategies were employed much less frequently than Social-Interaction strategies when they worked cooperatively, and training in Modified-Interaction strategies was greatly needed for promoting students’ effective interaction and language development. It has also been found that cooperative learning instruction was helpful in promoting students’ Social-Interaction strategy use as it provided a natural and conducive environment for students to socialize and cooperate towards the group goals. 
 
 Contributions: This study can provide insights into implementing cooperative learning activities and training interaction strategies in a formal language classroom context.

Initiating, innovating and accelerating edible cities. A case study based on two transition experiments in the city of Dresden (Germany)

Civic transition experiments targeting sustainable food production increasingly engage with edible cities aiming at providing free food on public urban spaces. To deepen the understanding regarding how transition experiments can build urban transformative capacities, this paper presents a transdisciplinary case study on two civic edible city initiatives and their measures to cooperatively initiate, innovate, and accelerate edible cities in Dresden (Germany). We identified the two key action areas “civic participation” and “cooperative area activation” covering ten key transition activities to illustrate the variety and content of a transformation towards an edible city. Based on expert interviews and document analyses, we evaluated their process progression by linking research from urban ecology with transformation science. By visualizing its quantitative results, common and distinct patterns of the edible city initiatives could be made visible. Overall, we found that the level of activity is highest in the key action area of “citizen participation”. In this context, both transition experiments had different but specific foci in terms of their key transition activities (i.e. education, activation of stakeholders), whereby activities related to civic empowerment and social cohesion were lacking in both cases. To re-shape narratives pertaining to land access, food production, and participation under the principles of justice, we suggest that transition experiments related to “civic participation” and “cooperative area activation” must be approached together. Our systematic assessment can then enable civic transition teams to strategically identify common goals that need to be prioritized for initiating, innovating, and accelerating urban edible commons.

Teaching-Learning Grammar via Cooperative Language Learning: Kombolcha Secondary School in Focus

This study is mainly concerned with the assessing challenges English teachers of Kombolcha Secondary School face in teaching grammar through cooperative language learning with particular reference to, grade 9. The data was gathered by four data gathering instruments questionnaire, interview, classroom observation, and text analysis. The data, which were obtained through a close-ended questionnaire, were analyzed and interpreted in the quantitative method, whereas the data which were gathered through interviews and classroom observation were interpreted and analyzed in the qualitative method. Finding shows that lack of student centeredness, lack of being facilitators, inappropriateness of CLL in grammar teaching were the major factors that hamper teaching grammar using Cooperative Language Learning. Tunable DNMT1 degradation reveals DNMT1/DNMT3B synergy in DNA methylation and genome organization.

DNA methylation (DNAme) is a key epigenetic mark that regulates critical biological processes maintaining overall genome stability. Given its pleiotropic function, studies of DNAme dynamics are crucial, but currently available tools to interfere with DNAme have limitations and major cytotoxic side effects. Here, we present cell models that allow inducible and reversible DNAme modulation through DNMT1 depletion. By dynamically assessing whole genome and locus-specific effects of induced passive demethylation through cell divisions, we reveal a cooperative activity between DNMT1 and DNMT3B, but not of DNMT3A, to maintain and control DNAme. We show that gradual loss of DNAme is accompanied by progressive and reversible changes in heterochromatin, compartmentalization, and peripheral localization. DNA methylation loss coincides with a gradual reduction of cell fitness due to G1 arrest, with minor levels of mitotic failure. Altogether, this system allows DNMTs and DNA methylation studies with fine temporal resolution, which may help to reveal the etiologic link between DNAme dysfunction and human disease.

Professional business management includes, among other things, implementing management functions correctly and precisely. One of the fundamental management functions is preparing rational, detailed, and measurable planning. For this reason, all cooperative managers must be able to prepare plans, both work program plans and financial plans to implement the work program, which is often called the cooperative income and expense budget. This reason is one of the reasons for providing technical guidance carried out by the West Java Province Cooperative Education and Training Center with material including the preparation of the Cooperative Work Plan and Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RKAPBK). The work plan is prepared according to the type of cooperative activity, which in this case is consumer cooperatives and savings and loan cooperatives. If the cooperative has activities related to the financial services business, then all management, including the preparation of the RKAPBK, must be made separately. This is absolutely necessary because financial services businesses are financial sector businesses and trading businesses are real sector business activities. In the financial services business of savings and loan cooperatives, money is a product whose benefits are taken, which will generate income over time. Meanwhile, in the real business sector, the products being traded are goods and money is the means of payment. For this reason, in this technical guidance, the RKAPBK case for financial sector businesses in Savings and Loans Cooperatives and the RKAPK case for the real sector business of Consumer Cooperatives are discussed.

Pelatihan Pengelolaan Keuangan bagi Pengurus Koperasi di Kabupaten Purwakarta

Financial management is very important in cooperative business activities, considering that financial reports are a form of accountability to the management stakeholders especially to members as owners. The financial report must at a minimum describe the condition of assets, liabilities, and capital stated in the balance sheet report and transaction activities with members and non-members as well as costs incurred which are stated in the business results calculation report (PHU). Cooperative financial reports must be well understood by cooperative administrators so that they can account in writing for all cooperative business activities carried out accurately. Considering the very importance of financial reports, it is necessary to provide training in preparing financial reports on an ongoing basis. The training was held by the Purwakarta Regency Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Service.

THE COOPERATIVES IN BULGARIA – PAST AND PRESENT

In Bulgaria, the emergence of modern cooperatives as a social business model dates back to the end of the 19th century. Cooperatives develop over time a variety of specific models based on their different subject of activity. Given the wide scope of the researched topic, we limit the purpose of the scientific development to the study of the spread of cooperatives in the economic life of Bulgaria, analyzing their characteristics manifested in the current century, looking for a connection with the period of their emergence, in order to explain certain trends in their development. The methodological approach used is based on statistical groupings of a large array of official data on cooperatives registered in the Commercial Register of Bulgaria from 2005 to the current year. Selected indicators reflecting in the development of cooperatives by planning areas, economic sectors, annual revenues, etc. are established. Through the historical analysis, individual moments of the birth of the first Bulgarian cooperatives are revealed. Results: In Bulgaria, cooperatives were first born in the villages to meet the needs of the local population, and then cooperatives appeared in the cities. This process in our country is the opposite of other countries in Europe with a more developed market economy.; Due to the agrarian direction of development of the Bulgarian economy at the end of the 19th century, the first type of cooperatives built were agricultural credit cooperatives in the villages. Years after them, at the beginning of the 20th century, consumer cooperatives appeared, followed by the popular urban banks, as well as some professional cooperatives/associations.; In Bulgaria, the cooperative as a legal organizational form is widespread in almost all economic sectors of the national economy. Its role is dominant, however, in two sectors: A. „Agriculture, forestry and fisheries“ and G. „Trade, repair of cars and motorcycles“; The activity of the Bulgarian cooperatives is low-profit; In regional terms, the largest number of functioning cooperatives is in the South Central region, with a dominant location in the Plovdiv and Haskovo areas for almost all economic sectors, followed by the Southeast region, where the Stara Zagora area has a leading position. In the conditions of modern challenges and heterogeneous problems, the study of cooperatives in Bulgaria must continue and be upgraded in order to find answers to many questions related to their past and future development. Finding an answer to the problematic aspects in their development is important not only to enrich the theory, but also above all to support the cooperative practice in our country. Changes in patterns of peer relationships in primary education classroom networks through cooperative learning.

We studied the impact of cooperative learning on positive peer relationships, that is, liking to work together, in classroom networks. Cooperative learning was implemented as part of the "Success for All" program. Longitudinal social network analysis was used to investigate the development of structures and patterns of relationships in 16 intervention and 16 control classrooms, including a total of 791 students. Results showed significantly less reciprocation and transitivity in the dynamics of the intervention networks, while the number of nominations in the intervention classes was at least not smaller than in the control classes, indicating less tendency toward the formation of small clusters or cliques. We did not find that peer relationships became more diverse with regard to gender, socioeconomic status, or academic performance through the implementation of cooperative learning. In intervention classrooms, children tended to nominate their teammates with whom they work together in cooperative learning activities; however, also in control classrooms, children tended to nominate children with whom they are seated in the classroom. A comparative study on the effectiveness of online and in-class team-based learning on student performance and perceptions in virtual simulation experiments

BackgroundThe swift transition to online teaching in medical education has presented the challenge of replicating in-class engagement and interaction essential for active learning. Despite online team-based learning (TBL) offering potential solutions through structured cooperative activities, its efficacy in virtual simulation experiment courses remains scantily researched. This study investigates the effectiveness of online TBL for teaching virtual patient experiments in a basic medical laboratory course and contrasts it with traditional offline teaching in terms of student performance and perceptions.MethodsA comparative analysis involved 179 Year 3 medical students using online TBL, face-to-face TBL (FTF-TBL), and the flipped classroom (FC) approach. The learning outcomes were assessed based on experiment reports, IRAT scores, TRAT scores, and final exam performance. Students’ perceptions of both online and in-class TBL methodologies were also surveyed.ResultsBoth online and in-class TBL groups demonstrated comparable academic outcomes and surpassed the FC group in academic performance. Students displayed a marked preference for the TBL format (whether online or in-class), valuing its enhancement of learning interest and practical knowledge application. Nevertheless, refinements in discussion efficiency, platform convenience, and student-instructor interaction were indicated as potential areas of improvement in the online setting.ConclusionsOnline TBL, along with its in-class counterpart, showed superior academic performance and a more positive learning experience compared to the FC group. These findings underscore the potential of online TBL in adapting to modern pedagogical challenges and enriching medical education through virtual simulation experiments.

Structural basis for the oligomerization-facilitated NLRP3 activation

The NACHT-, leucine-rich-repeat-, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) is a critical intracellular inflammasome sensor and an important clinical target against inflammation-driven human diseases. Recent studies have elucidated its transition from a closed cage to an activated disk-like inflammasome, but the intermediate activation mechanism remains elusive. Here we report the cryo-electron microscopy structure of NLRP3, which forms an open octamer and undergoes a ~ 90° hinge rotation at the NACHT domain. Mutations on open octamer’s interfaces reduce IL-1β signaling, highlighting its essential role in NLRP3 activation/inflammasome assembly. The centrosomal NIMA-related kinase 7 (NEK7) disrupts large NLRP3 oligomers and forms NEK7/NLRP3 monomers/dimers which is a critical step preceding the assembly of the disk-like inflammasome. These data demonstrate an oligomeric cooperative activation of NLRP3 and provide insight into its inflammasome assembly mechanism.

The environmental and economic effects of international cooperation on restricting fossil fuel supply

Achieving the Paris Agreement’s global temperature goal of keeping warming well below 2 °C and ideally 1.5 °C requires limiting fossil fuel production. In the United Nations climate change negotiations, this need is only beginning to be acknowledged. Nevertheless, as some countries have already adopted supply-side climate policies, initial cooperative activities have started, and calls grow for a fossil fuel treaty, questions arise about the prospects and possible effects of international cooperation on limiting fossil fuel supply. Combining qualitative insights on possible participants in a supply-side coalition with a quantitative analysis based on integrated assessment general equilibrium modelling, this article addresses these questions. Through k-means clustering based on fossil reserves per capita, fossil fuel rents and existing supply-side policies, we first identify which (groups of) countries are most likely to lead the formation of an international supply-side coalition, and which (groups of) countries are likely to follow. Drawing on these insights, we develop several scenarios for the evolution of international supply-side coalitions and compare these to a business-as-usual scenario. By doing so, we demonstrate the global and regional environmental, trade and macroeconomic effects of international cooperation on limiting fossil fuel supply and combining fossil supply restrictions with carbon pricing to meet the Paris goals. Our findings underscore the importance of pursuing supply-side and ambitious demand-side climate policies in parallel, and identify the scope and coverage, size of the coalition, and incentives for participation as key design elements for an international supply-side coalition.

Better Together: 14-Month-Old Infants Expect Agents to Cooperate.

Humans engage in cooperative activities from early on and the breadth of human cooperation is unparalleled. Human preference for cooperation might reflect cognitive and motivational mechanisms that drive engagement in cooperative activities. Here we investigate early indices of humans' cooperative abilities and test whether 14-month-old infants expect agents to prefer cooperative over individual goal achievement. Three groups of infants saw videos of agents facing a choice between two actions that led to identical rewards but differed in the individual costs. Our results show that, in line with prior research, infants expect agents to make instrumentally rational choices and prefer the less costly of two individual action alternatives. In contrast, when one of the action alternatives is cooperative, infants expect agents to choose cooperation over individual action, even though the cooperative action demands more effort from each agent to achieve the same outcome. Finally, we do not find evidence that infants expect agents to choose the less costly alternative when both options entail cooperative action. Combined, these results indicate an ontogenetically early expectation of cooperation, and raise interesting implications and questions regarding the nature of infants' representations of cooperative actions and their utility.

Putting it Together, Together.

People are not as fast or as strong as many other creatures that evolved around us. What gives us an evolutionary advantage is working together to achieve common aims. Coordinating joint action begins at a tender age with such cooperative activities as alternating babbling and clapping games. Adult joint activities are far more complex and use multiple means of coordination. Joint action has attracted qualitative analyses by sociolinguists, cognitive scientists, and philosophers as well as empirical analyses and theories by cognitive scientists. Here, we analyze how joint action is spontaneously coordinated from start to finish in a novel complex real-life joint activity, assembling a piece of furniture, a task that captures the essentials of joint action, collaborators, things in the world, and communicative devices. Pairs of strangers assembled a TV cart from a stack of parts and a photo of the completed cart. Coordination prior to each assembly action was coded as explicit, using speech or gesture, or implicit, actions that both advanced the task and communicated the next step. Initial planning relied on explicit communication about structure, but not action nor division of labor, which were improvised. That served to establish a joint representation of the goal that informed actions and monitored progress. As assembly progressed, coordination was increasingly implicit, through actions alone. Joint action is a dynamic interplay of explicit and implicit signaling with respect to things in the world to coordinate ongoing progress, guided by a shared representation of the goal.

Mechanism of influence of agricultural cooperation on the development of human capital of rural areas of Ukraine

The article is devoted to highlighting the impact of agricultural cooperation on the development of human capital in rural areas and substantiating the components and architectonics of the mechanism of this process. It is substantiated that one of the most promising forms of horizontal integration of small and medium-sized agricultural producers in Ukraine is cooperation, which is an objective necessity for the socio-economic development of both the agrarian sector of the economy and rural areas. It has been established that, depending on the species' activities, service cooperatives are divided into processing, procurement and sale, supply, service, and others, and the features of their tasks and functions in the process of economic activity are characterized. The efficiency of the functioning of agricultural service cooperatives in the European Union, aimed at improving management efficiency and protection from competition with monopoly structures in the processing and sale of agricultural products, is shown. The importance of developing agricultural service cooperatives to solve sales problems and increase energy efficiency in agriculture, particularly with the help of "green" energy cooperatives, is indicated. Attention is focused on the low quality of legal norms and the complexity of administrative and legal regulation of the activities of cooperatives, and the need for further support from the state and improvement of information support is determined. The groups of negative factors influencing the development of the agricultural service cooperative are generalized and disclosed, dividing them into three groups: State, economic, and organizational. A mechanism of influence of agricultural service cooperation on the formation and development of human capital in rural areas of Ukraine has been proposed. During the study, considering the negative factors influencing the development of the agricultural service cooperative, the architectonics of the mechanism of influence of agricultural service cooperation on the formation and development of human capital in rural areas of Ukraine, which can ensure the creation of economic, social, and environmental conditions for the formation and development of human capital in rural areas, was presented and substantiated.
