Survey of Pest Management Practices on US Golf Courses

Integrated pest management (IPM) is an important component of golf course maintenance and includes conventional chemical pesticide use as well as nonchemical cultural management practices. Determining how frequent pest management practices are used on golf courses is critical when developing educational and outreach programs. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of pest management practices and pesticide mixing and storage facilities on US golf courses. A survey was sent to 14,033 operational US golf facilities with 10% responding. Reliance on all conventional chemical pesticides increased from 2015 to 2021. The reliance on biological control products declined to 14% and reliance on the nonpesticide practice of using plant growth regulators remained equivalent to 2015. The most common pest management practices included monitoring weather patterns and scouting for pests, with 93% of golf facilities reporting the use of both. The use of written IPM and pesticide application plans increased from 44% to 63% of golf facilities between 2015 and 2021, respectively. Generally, mixing and storage facilities remained unchanged from 2015 to 2021. US golf facilities continue to use nonchemical pest management practices, but reliance on chemical pesticides has increased.

In silico and in vitro investigation of the antifungal activity of trimetallic Cu–Zn-magnetic nanoparticles against Fusarium oxysporum with stimulation of the tomato plant's drought stress tolerance response

Fusarium oxysporum is the fungus responsible for Fusarium wilt. Tomatoes and other plants acquire Fusarium wilt through their root systems. Occasionally, fungicides applied to the soil are used to combat the disease; however, some strains have developed resistance. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) trimetallic magnetic zinc and copper nanoparticles CMC-Cu-Zn-FeMNPs are one of the most promising antifungal agents against a wide range of fungi. One of the most important aspects of using magnetic nanoparticles is their ability to target cells, which confirms the drug's potent fungicidal activity. Using a UV-spectrophotometer, the characterization of synthesized CMC-Cu-Zn-FeMNPs revealed four peaks at226,271, 321 and 335 nm, as well as spherical nanoparticles with a mean size of 5.905 nm and a surface potential of −61.7 mv. In this study, CMC-Cu-Zn-FeMNPs were used to inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum by interfering with the ergosterol production metabolic pathway. Molecular docking experiments demonstrated that the nanoparticles were able to bind to sterol 14-alpha demethylase responsible for inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis. Real-time PCR analysis showed that the nanoparticles upregulated tomato plants and other assessed parameters under drought stress and downregulated the velvet complex and virulence factors of F. oxysporum on plants. The study results indicate that CMC-Cu-Zn-FeMNPs may be a promising and eco-friendly solution with low potential of accumulation and easy to collected alternative to conventional chemical pesticides that can have negative impacts on the environment and human health. Furthermore, it could provide a sustainable solution for managing Fusarium wilt disease, which can significantly reduce tomato yield and quality.

Bacillus altitudinis-Stabilized Multifarious Copper Nanoparticles Prevent Bacterial Fruit Blotch in Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus L.): Direct Pathogen Inhibition, In Planta Particles Accumulation, and Host Stomatal Immunity Modulation.

The nano-enabled crop protecting agents have been emerging as a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and sustainable alternative to conventional chemical pesticides. Here, the antibacterial activity and disease-suppressive potential of biogenic copper nanoparticles (bio-CuNPs) against bacterial fruit blotch (BFB), caused by Acidovorax citrulli (Ac), in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus L.) is discussed. CuNPs are extracellularly biosynthesized using a locally isolated bacterial strainBacillus altitudinis WM-2/2, and have spherical shapes of 29.11-78.56nm. Various metabolites, such as alcoholic compounds, carboxylic acids, alkenes, aromatic amines, and halo compounds, stabilize bio-CuNPs. Foliar application of bio-CuNPs increases the Cu accumulation in shoots/roots (66%/27%), and promotes the growth performance of watermelon plants by improving fresh/dry weight (36%/39%), through triggering various imperative physiological and biochemical processes. Importantly, bio-CuNPs at 100 µg mL-1 significantly suppress watermelon BFB through balancing reactive oxygen species system, improving photosynthesis capacity, and modulating stomatal immunity. Bio-CuNPs show obvious antibacterial activity against Ac by inducing oxidative stress, biofilm inhibition, and cellular integrity disruption. These findings demonstrate that bio-CuNPs can suppress watermelon BFB through direct antibacterial activity and induction of active immune response in watermelon plants, and highlight the value of this approach as a powerful tool to increase agricultural production and alleviate food insecurity.

The efficacy of biopesticides and synthetic pesticides in managing Cotton Jassids (Amrasca devastans Dist.) and enhancing cotton yield in Pakistan

Cotton production in Pakistan is significantly affected by pest infestations, with cotton jassid being the most damaging pest during the early growing season. To evaluate safer and more sustainable alternatives for pest control in cotton production, a study was conducted using biopesticides and synthetic pesticides against cotton jassids. The randomised complete block design experiment included seven treatments, with neem oil (T2), Datura (T3), and tobacco leaf extract (T4) as biopesticides, and Mospilan (T5), Tamaron (T6), and Confidor (T7) as synthetic pesticides. Standard plant inspection was used to sample and record pest populations, and all treatments were found to be effective in reducing jassid infestation compared to the control. Confidor was the most effective treatment, followed by Tamaron, neem oil, Mospilan, Datura, and tobacco leaf extract. The efficacy of all treatments was highest immediately after application and decreased over time. Using neem oil and Datura can help manage cotton jassids and increase cotton yield in Pakistan while reducing reliance on conventional chemical pesticides and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Organic green route synthesis of multifunctional colloidal sulfur formulation for pesticidal application

Crop protection through multifunctional low dimensional sulfur particles has numerous benefits over conventional chemical pesticides and formulations based on colloidal sulfur are emerging recently. A simple wet chemical route with acetic acid-thiosulphate-SDS system was reported to produce an aqueous colloidal sulfur formulation (CSF) of size ∼190 ​nm. This formulation was also stabilized with plant protective additives (neem oil, chitosan, tannic acid) and Taguchi methodology was applied to optimize the process and improve the stability of the formulation. Microscopic studies revealed that sulfur particles in the formulation are free from agglomerates and the developed formulation was investigated for antimicrobial and insecticidal activities. CSF was found to be effective on the tested phytopathogens (Aspergillus terreus, Fusarium solani and Venturia inequalis) with the supportive zone of inhibition and radial growth assays. Furthermore, CSF spraying onto the Pseudococcus mealybugs resulted in >80% mortality in 24 ​h and electron microscopy analysis displayed ultrastructural variations in the bodies of the insects with distorted morphology. CSF (with 18 ​mM sulfur) being non-toxic to earthworms and with its multifunctional properties could protect a wide range of crops. Its application as a foliar spray has the potential to replace commercial toxic pesticides.

Transcriptomic analysis of Sitophilus zeamais in response to limonene fumigation.

Frequent application of chemical fumigants has contributed to the development of resistance in stored-product pests. Essential oils provide a novel and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional chemical pesticides. In this work, the fumigant activity of Taxodium 'zhongshansha' essential oil (TZEO) and main active components against Sitophilus zeamais were evaluated. In addition, the molecular mechanisms mediating the fumigant activity of limonene were assessed. TZEO showed strong fumigant activity against Sitophilus zeamais, with a 50% lethal concentration (LC50 ) of 22.90 μL L-1 air in 24 h. The main components of TZEO were identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, the main active ingredient (limonene) showed an LC50 of 9.93 μL L-1 air in 24 h which had a serious dose-time-effect. The LC50 value of the positive control (aluminum phosphide) was 1.91 μL L-1 . In total, 3982 up-regulated and 3067 down-regulated genes were sequenced in limonene-fumigated Sitophilus zeamais, the genes related to metabolic detoxification were significantly enriched. The mortality rate of 7day-old Sitophilus zeamais adult mediated with knockdown of SzCYP6MS5 and SzCYP6MS6 raised up to 65.67% and 67.65% after fumigation with limonene in 24 h, respectively. The results showed that SzCYP6MS5 and SzCYP6MS6 are closely involved to the detoxification of limonene. In this study, candidate genes affected by limonene treatment in Sitophilus zeamais were identified. These findings provided insights into the systemic metabolic response of Sitophilus zeamais to limonene and established a basis for the development of limonene as a botanical pesticide for the control of stored-product pests. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Public Perceptions and Willingness-to-Pay for Nanopesticides.

The usage of pesticides is deemed essential to ensure crop production for global food security. Conventional chemical pesticides have significant effects on ecosystems. Nanopesticides are increasingly considered an emerging alternative due to their higher efficiency and lower environmental impacts. However, large knowledge gaps exist in the public perceptions and willingness-to-pay (WTP) for nanopesticides. Thus, we conducted a regional survey of pesticide users and food consumers on perceptions and WTP for nanopesticides across China. We found that 97.4% pesticide users were willing to pay for nanopesticides, with a main price from 25% to 40% higher than for conventional pesticides. Experience with applying pesticides, income, familiarity with and attitude toward nanopesticides, and trust in industries were significant determinants of WTP. Although the public were not familiar with nanopesticides, they had positive attitudes toward their future development and supported labeling nanoscale ingredients on products. Pesticide users presented high trust levels in governments and industries, while 34% of food consumers neutrally or distrusted industries in selling and production. This study highlights the socioeconomic and technological aspects of nanopesticides, which could provide guidance for industries to develop market strategies and for governments to design relevant regulation policies effectively, contributing to crop yield improvement and sustainable agriculture.

RNA Interference-Based Pesticides and Antiviral Agents: Microbial Overproduction Systems for Double-Stranded RNA for Applications in Agriculture and Aquaculture

RNA interference (RNAi)-based pesticides are pest control agents that use RNAi mechanisms as the basis of their action. They are regarded as environmentally friendly and are a promising alternative to conventional chemical pesticides. The effective substance in RNAi-based pesticides is double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) designed to match the nucleotide sequence of a target essential gene of the pest of concern. When taken up by the pest, this exerts an RNAi effect and inhibits some vital biochemical/biological process in the pest. dsRNA products are also expected to be applied for the control of viral diseases in aquaculture by RNAi, especially in shrimp farming. A critical issue in the practical application of RNAi agents is that production of the dsRNA must be low-cost. Here, we review recent methods for microbial production of dsRNAs using representative microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas syringae, Corynebacterium glutamicum, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, and others) as host strains. The characteristics of each dsRNA production system are discussed.

EVALUATION OF SOME CHEMICAL AND NON-CHEMICAL OPTIONS AGAINST THE INFESTATION OF INSECT PESTS OF CUT FLOWER (GLADIOLUS)

he experiment was conducted at the apiary of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka during the period from January to June 2019 to study the efficacy of some promising biopesticides in comparison to conventional chemical pesticides against insect pests of gladiolus. With four replications, the experiment was set up in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The treatments were: (T1) Neem oil @ 3ml/L water, (T2) Neem oil @ 3ml/L water + Trichogramma evanescense @ 0.5 gm/ 6 m2, (T3) Neem seed kernel @ 200 gm/L water, (T4) Neem seed kernel @ 200 gm/L water + Trichogramma evanescense @ 0.5 gm/ 6 m2, (T5) Ripcord 10 EC @ 2.0 ml/L water, (T6) Radial 20 EC @ 3.0 ml/L water and (T7) Untreated. The highest number of plants (54.66) obtained from T1 (Neem oil @ 3ml/L water). The highest number of pest population derived from (T7) Untreated control and the second highest pest population was found from T6 (Radial 20 EC @3.0 ml/L water. The lowest pest population derived from T4 (Neem seed kernel @ 200 gm/L water + Trichogramma evanescense @ 0.5 gm/ 6 m2) at early, mid and late stage of gladiolus respectively. The best outcomes have been obtained from T4 (Neem seed kernel @ 200 gm/L water + Trichogramma evanescense @ 0.5 gm/6 m2) and lowest outcome came from untreated control.

EU microbial pest control: A revolution in waiting

Recent evaluations of the microbial biological control sector indicate that implementing microbial control of pests is still slow in the EU. The top causal factors are the lengthy, expensive, and cumbersome two-stage procedure for approval of biological agents as active substances at the EU level and authorization of formulated products at the national level, limited funding, lack of EU level integrated approaches, and slow implementation of integrated pest management. This article contributes to a better understanding of the factors that limit microbial control of pests in EU agriculture by providing the first evaluation of the evolution of microbial biological control agent (MBCA) EU-level approval combined with that of microbial biological control product (MBCP) national-level authorization, discusses recent trends in research and offers some policy recommendations. By 2020, the EU had caught up with the USA regarding research output, approved MBCAs, and MBCA approval procedures (first stage). Despite improvements from 2014 to 2019, the number of authorized MBCPs (second stage) has progressed slowly and unevenly across the EU. Significant progress is concentrated in countries with more extensive agricultural land and higher research intensity. The EU's focus on promoting more sustainable agriculture by increasing the availability of low-risk pesticides of biological origin as alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides has gained traction in recent years. Nevertheless, more efforts to improve the capacity and expertise of laggard EU Member States to contribute to the approval of MBCA, authorization of MBCP, and stimulating market availability are needed. Furthermore, we recommend introducing more concrete measures to promote the adoption of the microbial control of pests in the National Action Plans for the sustainable use of pesticides. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Lab-to-Field Transition of RNA Spray Applications - How Far Are We?

The drastic loss of biodiversity has alarmed the public and raised sociopolitical demand for chemical pesticide-free plant production, which is now treated by governments worldwide as a top priority. Given this global challenge, RNAi-based technologies are rapidly evolving as a promising substitute to conventional chemical pesticides. Primarily, genetically modified (GM) crops expressing double-stranded (ds)RNA-mediating gene silencing of foreign transcripts have been developed. However, since the cultivation of GM RNAi crops is viewed negatively in numerous countries, GM-free exogenous RNA spray applications attract tremendous scientific and political interest. The sudden rise in demand for pesticide alternatives has boosted research on sprayable RNA biopesticides, generating significant technological developments and advancing the potential for field applications in the near future. Here we review the latest advances that could pave the way for a quick lab-to-field transition for RNA sprays, which, as safe, selective, broadly applicable, and cost-effective biopesticides, represent an innovation in sustainable crop production. Given these latest advances, we further discuss technological limitations, knowledge gaps in the research, safety concerns and regulatory requirements that need to be considered and addressed before RNA sprays can become a reliable and realistic agricultural approach.

Minimum Effective Dose of Chlorantraniliprole and Chromafenozide to Control Oil Palm Bunch Moth Tirathana mundella Walker

The bunch moth, Tirathaba mundella is one of the leading pests in oil palm estates established on peatland. Severely infested male inflorescences usually would fail reaching anthesis. Reduction in the number of inflorescences at anthesis stage would suggest less food source and breeding ground for oil palm pollinating weevils, Elaeidobius kamerunicus, thus, affecting the fruiting percentage of oil palm and its yield. Despite to be less detrimental to the environment, biopesticide usages in the field is losing favour due to its slower rate of kill compared with conventional chemical pesticides, shorter persistence in the environment and susceptibility to unfavourable environmental conditions. The use of high host specificity chemical pesticides, such as chlorantraniliprole and chromafenozide are gaining popularity in pest management regimes. In this study, the optimum dose for chlorantraniliprole and chromafenozide in controlling T. mundella was assessed to provide valuable information for sustainable oil palm pest management. Several dosages of pesticide were evaluated for their effectiveness against T. mundella in a 7-year-old oil palm estate for six months. Based on the results obtained, application of 30 g or 40 g active ingredient (a.i.) per ha chlorantraniliprole were recommended to provide the longest protection period. To make plan for an effective pest management that could reduce material and labour cost per ha as well as the risks in developing pesticide resistance among pest, 30 g a.i per ha of chlorantraniliprole is recommended to be rotated with 25 g a.i. per ha chromafenozide for a total of four rounds in a year.

Nanotechnology: an Emerging Hope in Crop Improvement

The application of nanotechnology in the field of agriculture completely changed the present farming practices. One of the emerging challenges in the current agricultural system is developing disease resistance and increased productivity without accumulating environmental pollutants. Most of the applied conventional chemical fertilizers and pesticides have several side effects on both plants and the environment. Nanotechnology-based crop protection strategies have the potential to induce disease tolerance and enhancement of crop yield. Benefits of using nanoparticles in the agricultural fields include reducing environmental pollutants, rapid disease diagnosis, simple preparation process, less toxicity, and cost-effectiveness. Green synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts gained special attention as it is reproducible, biodegradable, and very effective against several plant pathogenic microbes. In the present review, we have discussed how different nanoparticles are being used to induce disease tolerance in crops, different types of nanoparticles, synthesis and characterization, uptake, and translocation process in plants. The molecular approaches of disease management using nanoparticles and the application of nanobiosensors are also enlightened in this review.

Biological Control of the Raspberry Eriophyoid Mite Phyllocoptes gracilis Using Entomopathogenic Fungi

There is an urgent need to develop biological control methods against the eriophyoid mite, Phyllocoptes gracilis, which causes significant losses in organic raspberry production in Europe. The use of entomopathogenic fungi (EF) is a sustainable alternative to conventional chemical pesticides, reducing the risks of pesticide resistance and other negative environmental impacts of agriculture. The objective of this study was to assess the pathogenicity of three strains of EF, two of Beauveria bassiana and one of Metarhizium anisopliae, on P. gracilis under laboratory conditions. Fungal spore suspensions (1 × 107 spores per mL) were sprayed on detached leaves infested with P. gracilis. Treated mites were kept under controlled conditions (25 ± 3 °C, 72 ± 10% relative humidity and photoperiod of 16:8 (light/dark)) and mite mortality was assessed three, five and seven days after inoculation. At all three measurement points (days after inoculation), the mortality of P. gracilis was highest for B. bassiana strain BB 1.1 and M. anisopliae strain MA 10.1. Our data demonstrate that EFs are promising candidates for the development of biological control agents against P. gracilis in raspberry crops.

A review on nanocomposites and their role in insecticide delivery

The extensive application of conventional chemical pesticides may result into several public health concerns as well as enviornmental hazards. To ensure food safety, use of alternative ecofriendly pesticide formulations is need of the hour. Nanocomposites, a special class of nanomaterials, having improved stability and barrier properties may be a viable option to develop environmentally benign slow/ controlled release pesticide formulations. Presently, the use of nanocomposites in preparation of insecticidal formulations is in early stage of research and development. Application of different nanocomposite materials as vector for chemical insecticides have been summarized in this review with major emphasis on application arenas in crop protection, along with addressing limitations and prospects of this domain.

Why has the authorization of microbial biological control agents been slower in the EU than in comparable jurisdictions?

The aim of this study was to identify reasons why the authorization of microbial pest control agents is lengthier under regulatory frameworks of the European Union (EU) than in comparable jurisdictions. A main conclusion is that although the EUʼs regulatory processes have strong scientific foundations, the most appropriate scientific concepts, knowledge and expertise have not been applied in the safety assessment of microorganisms and biological control. Tradition and conceptual legacies from assessments of conventional chemical pesticides have likely contributed to this by steering the evaluations of microorganisms in less appropriate directions. According to our investigation, the current framework for microbial plant protection products complies poorly with the principles that legislation should have legal predictability, proportionality, and that it should be non‐discriminative, for instance in comparison to corresponding regulations in comparable jurisdictions. We also found that existing possibilities to take non‐safety and ethical considerations into account can probably be used more. To rationalize the EUʼs authorization of microbial control products, both the basic legislation and the evaluations of agents and products need stronger rooting in fundamental microbiological science. © 2020 The Authors. Carmine spider mite Tetranychus cinnabarinus control: Laboratory and field efficacy and biochemical characterization of 2, 4-di-tertbutylphenol and ethyl oleate

Natural pesticides are potential alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides. Recently, studies on pesticide–pest interactions have combined empirical biochemical measurements and practical field experiments. In this study, we performed laboratory and field efficacy analysis and biochemical characterization of two phytochemicals (2,4-di-tertbutylphenol (DTBP) and ethyl oleate (EO)) for carmine spider mite Tetranychus cinnabarinus control. DTBP and EO controlled mites by inhibiting egg hatchability and showed significant residual toxicity in laboratory tests. The control efficacy was confirmed in eggplant and cucumber field trials in three provinces in China. Oxidative stress induced by antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and peroxidase) and detoxification metabolism (involving carboxylesterase and/or mixed-function oxidase) may be involved in the response of mites to DTBP and EO. This study demonstrates the potential of DTBP and EO as effective acaricides for the control of spider mites and provides researchers a better understanding of acaricide–mite interactions.

Food-Grade Microscale Dispersion Enhances UV Stability and Antimicrobial Activity of a Model Bacteriophage (T7) for Reducing Bacterial Contamination (Escherichia coli) on the Plant Surface.

To reduce the use of conventional chemical pesticides, naturally occurring biopesticides such as bacteriophages have emerged as a promising solution, but effectiveness of these biopesticides can be limited because of their UV and desiccation instability. This study developed a biopolymer formulation to improve the phage stability, enhance the antimicrobial activity of phages, and prevent bacterial contaminations on a leaf surface in the presence of UV-A. The mixture of microscale polydopamine (PDA) particles with whey protein isolate (WPI)-glycerol formulation was effective for enhancing the stability of T7 phages in spraying solution and on a model leaf surface during 4 h exposure to UV-A and 1 h exposure to the simulated sunlight, respectively. The T7 phages incorporated with the biopolymer formulation effectively improved the antimicrobial activity of phages, as exhibited by greater than 2.8 log reduction in model bacteria Escherichia coli BL21 and also illustrated by significant potential of this formulation to prevent bacterial contamination and colonization of the plant surface. In summary, this study illustrates that phages combined with a biopolymer formulation can be an effective approach for a field deployable biocontrol solution of bacterial contamination in the agricultural environment.

Why don't smallholder farmers in Kenya use more biopesticides?

BackgroundAlthough Kenya has a relatively high number of registered biopesticide products, little is known about biopesticide use by smallholders. This paper documents farmers' current use and perception of chemical pesticides and biopesticides, their willingness to pay for biopesticides, and the key challenges to biopesticide uptake.ResultsA survey found that chemical pesticides are used widely by smallholders despite awareness of the risks to human health and the environment. Almost half of respondents showed awareness of biopesticides, but current use in the survey localities was low (10%). Key reasons for the low use of biopesticides by smallholders in this study are: perceptions of effectiveness, primarily speed of action and spectrum of activity, availability and affordability. Smallholders who used biopesticides cited effectiveness, recommendation by advisory services and perception of safety as key reasons for their choice. Although farmers viewed both pesticides and biopesticides as costly, they invested in the former due to their perceived effectiveness. Average willingness to pay, above current chemical pesticide expenditures per cropping season was 9.6% (US$5.7). Willingness to pay differed significantly between counties, and was higher among farmers with more education or greater awareness of the health risks associated with pesticide use.ConclusionThis study confirms the low use of biopesticide products in the survey areas, alongside high use of conventional chemical pesticides. In order to promote greater uptake of biopesticides, addressing farmers' awareness and their perceptions of effectiveness is important, as well as increasing the knowledge of those providing advice and ensuring registered products are available locally at competitive prices. © 2020 The Authors. Biopesticides in India: technology and sustainability linkages.

Despite enhancing the crop yields, the so called green revolution (GR) has proven unsuccessful in assuring long term agricultural sustainability. The methods used for productivity enhancement during GR have not only proven to be problematic but have also resulted in deterioration of soil quality and several other issues related to ecosystems and health issues. The damage was mainly caused by the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and insecticides. Various types of pesticides, are now known to be causing huge problems in the agro-ecosystems. In such a situation, where chemicals have caused or are causing irreversible impacts on agroecosystems, the use of biopesticides has emerged as a sustainable alternative leading to safe organic farming. At the global level, environmentally benign nature and target-specificity of biopesticides are gaining wide popularity. However, in developing countries like India usage of biopesticides is still minuscule in comparison to conventional chemical pesticides. Although the Indian government has encouraged the use of biopesticides by placing them into many of the agricultural schemes, at the grassroots level, biopesticides are facing many challenges. The lower adaptability and declining interest of farmers towards biopesticides have become a matter of concern. However, technological challenges related to production, manufacture and application in agroecosystems have also raised a question on their long-term sustainability. The main objective of this review is to highlight the developing trend in the field of biocontrol products in India. Apart from this, the review also focuses on the technological perspectives that are required for the long-term sustainability of biological control products in Indian agriculture and market.
