PENERAPAN GOOD AGRICULTURE PRACTICES (GAP) PADA USAHATANI BUAH NAGA MERAH DI KECAMATAN PESANGGARAN KABUPATEN BANYUWANGI

This research develops and applies the implementation of Good Agriculture Practices to red dragon fruit farming, influencing factors, and recommendations for providing extension materials to increase its implementation. Implementing Good Agricultural Practices must be by Control Points, Standard Operating Procedures, Plant Pest Control, filling out workbooks, and re-registration, which are obligations that farmers must carry out after obtaining a Good Agricultural Practices certificate. In this study, as many as 62 red dragon fruit farmers certified as Good Agriculture Practices were selected as a whole or total sampling. The Likert scale is used to analyze the level of implementation of Good Agriculture Practices. Logistic Regression Analysis is used to see the factors that influence the level of implementation of Good Agriculture Practices. Efforts to increase the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices through rankings. The research results show that (1) the implementation of Good Agriculture Practices in red dragon fruit farming is sufficient; (2) factors that influence the implementation of Good Agriculture Practices are the variables of farming experience, perception of production quantity, and perception of selling price. (3) recommendations for increasing the implementation of Good Agriculture Practices in red dragon fruit farming in Pesanggaran District can be done by providing material on priority efforts starting from Mandatory Control Points, Very Green Control Points, filling out workbooks, implementing Plant Pest Control, re-registering, Points Control Recommendations, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.

GO promotes detoxification of nicosulfuron in sweet corn by enhancing photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, and antioxidant enzyme activity

Although graphene oxide (GO) has extensive recognized application prospects in slow-release fertilizer, plant pest control, and plant growth regulation, the incorporation of GO into nano herbicides is still in its early stages of development. This study selected a pair of sweet corn sister lines, nicosulfuron (NIF)-resistant HK301 and NIF-sensitive HK320, and sprayed them both with 80 mg kg–1 of GO-NIF, with clean water as a control, to study the effect of GO-NIF on sweet corn seedling growth, photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence, and antioxidant system enzyme activity. Compared to spraying water and GO alone, spraying GO-NIF was able to effectively reduce the toxic effect of NIF on sweet corn seedlings. Compared with NIF treatment, 10 days after of spraying GO-NIF, the net photosynthetic rate (A), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration rate (E), photosystem II photochemical maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm), photochemical quenching coefficient (qP), and photosynthetic electron transfer rate (ETR) of GO-NIF treatment were significantly increased by 328.31%, 132.44%, 574.39%, 73.53%, 152.41%, and 140.72%, respectively, compared to HK320. Compared to the imbalance of redox reactions continuously induced by NIF in HK320, GO-NIF effectively alleviated the observed oxidative pressure. Furthermore, compared to NIF treatment alone, GO-NIF treatment effectively increased the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) in both lines, indicating GO induced resistance to the damage caused by NIF to sweet corn seedlings. This study will provides an empirical basis for understanding the detoxification promoting effect of GO in NIF and analyzing the mechanism of GO induced allogeneic detoxification in cells.

The Potential of Natural Enemies as Biological Control Agents for Various Pests on Water Spinach (Ipomoea aquatica F.)

Arthropods have the potential as biological control agents for various pests in kale plants. Some arthropod species have potential as natural enemies for biological control of plant pests due to their abundance and availability in the ecosystem. Some natural enemy arthropods consist of insects and spiders. Natural enemies found in the location of West Lombok District, NTB act as predators and parasitoids of pests on kale plants. The number of orders found were Araneae, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Odonata and Hymenoptera. Four orders act as predators and one order, Hymenoptera as parasitoids. Natural enemy arthropods found that have the potential as natural enemies of pests in kale plants were found as many as 10 species, namely Argiope catenulate, Cicurina sp.., Oxyopes attenuates, Lepthypanthes tenuis, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, Coreus Marginatus, Leptoglossus occidentali sp., Onychogomphus forcipatus, Agriocnemis pieris, and Doryctobracon areolatus. While in Ogan Ilir District, South Sumatra, 1 species was found that acts as a natural enemy of the Hemiptera order, Gonocerus acuteangulatus.

Advances in CircRNAs in the Past Decade: Review of CircRNAs Biogenesis, Regulatory Mechanisms, and Functions in Plants.

Circular RNA (circRNA) is a type of non-coding RNA with multiple biological functions. Whole circRNA genomes in plants have been identified, and circRNAs have been demonstrated to be widely present and highly expressed in various plant tissues and organs. CircRNAs are highly stable and conserved in plants, and exhibit tissue specificity and developmental stage specificity. CircRNAs often interact with other biomolecules, such as miRNAs and proteins, thereby regulating gene expression, interfering with gene function, and affecting plant growth and development or response to environmental stress. CircRNAs are less studied in plants than in animals, and their regulatory mechanisms of biogenesis and molecular functions are not fully understood. A variety of circRNAs in plants are involved in regulating growth and development and responding to environmental stress. This review focuses on the biogenesis and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs, as well as their biological functions during growth, development, and stress responses in plants, including a discussion of plant circRNA research prospects. Understanding the generation and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs is a challenging but important topic in the field of circRNAs in plants, as it can provide insights into plant life activities and their response mechanisms to biotic or abiotic stresses as well as new strategies for plant molecular breeding and pest control.

Pemanfaatan Limbah Kulit Bawang Merah Menjadi Pestisida Alami Sebagai Substitusi Pestisida Kimia Di Desa Mungkung, Nganjuk

In Mungkung Village, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency, KKNT students at the East Java "Veteran" National Development University conducted research to use onion skin waste as raw material for making natural pesticides. The main goal is to reduce people's dependence on chemical pesticides which have negative impacts on health and the environment. The research process was carried out through observation, socialization and demonstration. The results of the activity show that natural pesticides from onion skin waste are effective in controlling plant pests and are safe for the environment because they do not leave dangerous residues. The success of this outreach and demonstration increased public awareness of the importance of using agricultural waste wisely. This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in responsible consumption and production as well as protecting life on land, by reducing the use of chemical pesticides and utilizing organic waste. It is hoped that this waste management model can be widely adopted for more environmentally friendly and efficient agriculture.

Thiamethoxam Residuality in Papaya Plant and Fruit (Carica papaya Linnaeus) Cultivated in Rotation with Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus)

There is evidence of the high use of the neonicotinoid insecticide thiamethoxam, in tropical crops, for its effectiveness in the control of soil and plant pests. The objective of this study was to know the residuality and concentration of thiamethoxam in the papaya agroecosystem, in the main papaya fruit producing zone in the central area of the Gulf of Mexico. It was carried out during a papaya growing cycle with watermelon rotation; the taking of samples was according to the technique established by the NOM -AA-103-1988 for leaves and for fruit the NMX -FF-041- 1996 by the method of quartering in papaya and watermelon, the samples were analyzed with a HPLC-UV, the data obtained were statistically analyzed by parametric and non-parametric Kruskal- Wallis tests. The presence of thiamethoxam was found in papaya and watermelon cultivation plants, the concentrations in papaya leaves reported a maximum value of 0.29 mg/kg, while for the leaves of the watermelon rotation fruit it was 0.15 mg/kg. In papaya fruit, thiamethoxam concentrations are within a range of 0.24 to 0.32 mg/kg. The concentrations and residuality of thiamethoxam mainly exceed the maximum tolerance and residuality limits of the EFSA and FAO.

EResNet-SVM: an overfitting-relieved deep learning model for recognition of plant diseases and pests.

The accurate recognition and early warning for plant diseases and pests are a prerequisite of intelligent prevention and control for plant diseases and pests. As a result of the phenotype similarity of the hazarded plant after plant diseases and pests occur, as well as the interference of the external environment, traditional deep learning models often face the overfitting problem in phenotype recognition of plant diseases and pests, which leads to not only the slow convergence speed of the network, but also low recognition accuracy. Motivated by the above problems, the present study proposes a deep learning model EResNet-support vector machine (SVM) to alleviate the overfitting for the recognition and classification of plant diseases and pests. First, the feature extraction capability of the model is improved by increasing feature extraction layers in the convolutional neural network. Second, the order-reduced modules are embedded and a sparsely activated function is introduced to reduce model complexity and alleviate overfitting. Finally, a classifier fused by SVM and fully connected layers are introduced to transforms the original non-linear classification problem into a linear classification problem in high-dimensional space to further alleviate the overfitting and improve the recognition accuracy of plant diseases and pests. The ablation experiments further demonstrate that the fused structure can effectively alleviate the overfitting and improve the recognition accuracy. The experimental recognition results for typical plant diseases and pests show that the proposed EResNet-SVM model has 99.30% test accuracy for eight conditions (seven plant diseases and one normal), which is 5.90% higher than the original ResNet18. Compared with the classic AlexNet, GoogLeNet, Xception, SqueezeNet and DenseNet201 models, the accuracy of the EResNet-SVM model has improved by 5.10%, 7%, 8.10%, 6.20% and 1.90%, respectively. The testing accuracy of the EResNet-SVM model for 6 insect pests is 100%, which is 3.90% higher than that of the original ResNet18 model. This research provides not only useful references for alleviating the overfitting problem in deep learning, but also a theoretical and technical support for the intelligent detection and control of plant diseases and pests. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

IOT- Based Smart Plant Protection and Pest Control by Using Raspberry Pi

In economies heavily dependent on agriculture, such as India, the farming sector plays a crucial role, yet it faces various challenges that hinder its profitability and, unfortunately, contribute to farmer suicides. Pest attacks stand out as a significant factor contributing to the agricultural woes, causing substantial harm to crops. This research proposes a solution leveraging Raspberry Pi technology, incorporating a mathematical model known as Beta regression analysis. The model utilizes farm humidity and temperature as inputs to predict environmental conditions conducive to pest formation and attacks. The resultant Beta regression factor serves as a risk indicator for environmental health. Based on this factor, the system forecasts the likelihood of pest occurrences. By offering advance predictions of pest activity, farmers can strategically apply the right amount of pesticides, effectively mitigating the impact of pests on their crops. This proactive approach allows farmers to manage potential damage before it occurs, fostering a more sustainable and profitable farming environment. The innovative system outlined in this paper aims to empower farmers with accurate pest control predictions, thus enhancing their ability to navigate and overcome challenges in the agricultural landscape.

Peran Penyuluh Pertanian Dalam Penanggulangan Hama Penyakit Pada Bawang Merah (Allium Cepa L) Di Kampung Arsopura Distrik Skanto Kabupaten Keerom

The agricultural sector is a strategic sector in national development. The increase in production has been given by agricultural extension activities. The agricultural instructor must be someone who is competent in the field of agriculture and can communicate effectively and be responsive in dealing with every problem and question quetioned by farmers. The centers for shallot production in Papua Province are Kerom, Merauke, Tolikara and Jayawijaya Regencies. Shallot farming is always faced with risks. in the form of a decrease in production due to unpredictable weather factors and attacks by pests and diseases (such as wilt disease). To overcome the problems above, an agricultural instructor is needed who can help farmers in diagnosing pests and diseases of shallot plants. The research aims to determine the role of agricultural instructors for shallot farmers in controlling plant pests. This research was carried out in Arsopura village, Skanto District, Keerom Regency for 6 months from August 2022 to February 2023. This research used the Arithmetic Mean analysis method with average assessment criteria of 1.00-1.66 with categories of No Role, 1.67- 2.33. There were 60 questions asked by the resource person for each indicator, with 17 facilitator indicator questions, 15 motivator questions, 14 educator questions and 15 communicator questions. The results of the research show that agricultural extension workers play a role in controlling pests and diseases in shallot plants. The scores obtained for the facilitator indicator were 2.69, motivator 2.69, educator 2.34, and communicator 2.44, each in the Role category. Agricultural instructors play a very important role and always provide new technologies to increase shallot production, in Arsopura Village, Skanto District, Keerom Regency.

Synergistic interplay between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and fern manure compost tea suppresses common tomato phytopathogens and pest attacks on-farm

Actually, there are intensive efforts towards eco-friendly integrated agricultural management measures to control plant diseases and pests. One of the most promising approaches is the use of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in combination with organic biopesticides such as eagle fern manure (FM) compost tea. However, their effects have been mainly studied independently from each other. The potential interactions between belowground plant-associated microorganisms such as AMF and aboveground foliar application of biopesticide to mitigate common tomato phytopathogens and pests remain untapped, particularly under on-farm conditions. In a randomized complete block design, the impact of inoculating tomato seedlings with a selected AMF consortium and beyond that the impact of mycorrhized plants receiving three different doses of FM compost tea (0%, 5%, and 10%) on the control of tomato-specific plant diseases and pests and subsequently on the crop yield were examined. The present study demonstrated a sevenfold increase in the rate of mycorrhizal root colonization (from 10% to 70%) in tomato plants that received the combined application of AMF and 10% FM compost tea compared to the control plants that did not receive AMF inoculum and FM compost tea. The combination of AMF and FM compost tea application led to positive synergistic effects that promoted beneficial effects in suppressing the incidence and severity of common tomato diseases and pests. The magnitude of these synergistic effects increased with AMF inoculation and FM compost tea dosage, culminating in greater suppression of tomato plant diseases and pests and, moreover, in an increase in fruit yield compared to control plants. The combination of AMF and 10% FM compost tea revealed a higher suppressive ability against most pathogens and insect attacks. This was evidenced by a 71.3% and 94.7% total reduction in incidence and severity, respectively, compared to control plants. This is the first time that pre-inoculation of AM, combined with FM compost tea application, has been reported as a potential biocontrol alternative to suppress common tomato pathogens and pests while increasing cherry tomato yields sustainably.

This activities aim to provide understanding and skills to the community in Rumpet Village, Krueng Barona Jaya Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency, on utilizing local resources to naturally control plant pests. The primary focus of this activity is the process of making botanical pesticides from neem leaves as an environmentally friendly solution to sustain agriculture in the region. The activity begins with a socialization on the importance of sustainable pest control and the adverse effects of chemical pesticides. It involves active participation from the community in collecting and identifying neem leaves as the main ingredient. The process of extracting active compounds from neem leaves is also taught to the community, along with formulation techniques and the application of the resulting botanical pesticide. The outcomes of this activity include an increase in community knowledge about natural plant pest control and their empowerment in producing and using botanical pesticides from neem leaves. This community service is expected to make a positive contribution in promoting sustainable and resilient farming practices in Rumpet Village, inspiring surrounding communities to adopt similar approaches in their agricultural management.

The potential of seaweeds as a rich natural source for novel bioherbicide formulation/development

AbstractRecently, there has been emphasis on the need to shift away from the use of synthetic chemical herbicides to low-risk alternatives derived from natural sources. This is aimed at lowering or averting the negative impact synthetic herbicides have on the environment and dealing with the emergence of weed species resistant to these chemicals. As a result, more stringent measures or outright bans on the use of most synthetic herbicides have been put in place by regulatory bodies. As seaweeds are abundant resources in the marine environment that have the capacity to produce diverse bioactive compounds, they could serve as sustainably viable, natural, and low-risk alternatives/sources to explore for potential phytotoxic capabilities. This could in turn help to enhance or boost the availability of effective solutions in the global bioherbicide market. This review highlights the prospects of using seaweeds as novel biopesticides for the control and management of various plant pests, including weed species, and for the development of sustainable agriculture/forestry practices. More specifically, it focuses on their use as a rich natural source for novel bioherbicide development, a potential that has remained underexplored for many years. However, to unlock the full potential of seaweed-derived bioherbicides and to create a potential path toward their development, increased research and development efforts are urgently needed to tackle and overcome possible constraints posed in this novel area, such as variability in seaweed chemical composition, formulation technologies, stability and efficacy of seaweed bioactive compounds, cost and scalability, and environmental considerations.

Isolation, identification, and mechanism analysis of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria in tobacco.

Plant growth, crop yield, and pest and disease control are enhanced by PGPR (Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria), which are beneficial microorganisms found in a close symbiosis with plant roots. Phytohormones are secreted, nutrient uptake is improved, and soil properties along with the microbiological environment are regulated by these microorganisms, making them a significant focus in agricultural research. In this study, the efficient PGPR strain T1 was isolated and screened from tobacco inter-root soil, and identified and confirmed by ITS sequencing technology. Tobacco growth indicators and soil property changes were observed and recorded through potting experiments. The activities of key enzymes (e.g., sucrase, catalase, urease) in soil were further determined. High-throughput sequencing technology was utilized to sequence the soil microbial community, and combined with macro-genomics analysis, the effects of T1 strain on soil microbial diversity and metabolic pathways were explored. Following the application of T1, significant improvements were observed in the height, leaf length, and width of tobacco plants. Furthermore, the physical and chemical properties of the soil were notably enhanced, including a 26.26% increase in phosphorus availability. Additionally, the activities of key soil enzymes such as sucrase, catalase, and urease were significantly increased, indicating improved soil health and fertility. Comprehensive joint microbiomics and macrogenomics analyses revealed a substantial rise in the populations of beneficial soil microorganisms and an enhancement in metabolic pathways, including amino acid metabolism, synthesis, and production of secondary metabolites. These increase in beneficial microorganisms and the enhancement of their metabolic functions are crucial for plant growth and soil fertility. This study provides valuable references for the development of innovative microbial fertilizers and offers programs for the sustainable development of modern agriculture.

Characteristics and Agronomic Efficiency of Fertilizer Urea Granules- Acidic Coated Bamboo Biochar Acrylate on Plant Onion Red (Allium ascaloniucm L.)

The use of urea-biochar granular fertilizer is intended to overcome the problem of inefficiency in the excessive use of urea fertilizer. The efficiency of urea is relatively low because 40-70% of N is lost from the soil. The purpose of this study was to determine the agronomic efficiency of acrylic acid-coated bamboo urea-biochar fertilizer on shallot plants. The research was conducted in the greenhouse of UPT Plant Pest and Disease Control Center in Celuk Sukawati Gianyar Village, and in the Laboratory of Soil and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with a single factor consisting of 9 treatments and repeated 3 times. Parameters observed were plant growth yields (height, weight of tubers and fresh litter, weight of tubers and oven-dried litter, number of tillers), fertilizer agronomic efficiency. The results showed that the S30 treatment significantly increased the shallot plant height by 43.67 cm, the weight of the oven-dried bulbs by19.68 g and the RAE value by 362%, so that fertilization with the S30 treatment was the most efficient compared to other treatments and could be used by farmers in increasing the growth and yield of shallot plants.

ISOLASI DAN PEMANFAATAN BAKTERI KITINOLITIK DARI CANGKANG UDANG PUTIH (PENAEUS MERGUENSIS) DALAM MENGHASILKAN ENZIM KITINASE

Indonesia is listed as the third largest shrimp producing country in the world. Shrimp is one of the leading export commodities. Shrimp is one of the main commodities in the fishing industry. Thus encouraging Indonesia to become one of the shrimp producing countries. In the shrimp processing process, usually the heads and shells of the shrimp are thrown away or used as animal feed. Traditionally, shrimp shell waste is generally used as a mixture for making crackers, paste, shrimp paste and as additional animal feed and returned to the shrimp cultivation itself. One use of shrimp shell waste that has prospects for development and has quite high economic value is processing it into chitin, chitosan and glucosamine. The aim of this research is to obtain isolates of chitinolytic bacteria from isolation and to utilize chitinolytic bacteria from white shrimp (Penaeus merguensis) shells to produce chitinase enzymes. Chitinolytic bacteria are bacteria that produce chitinase enzymes which play a role in degrading chitin into oligomers and chitin derivative compounds. Chitinolytic bacteria can be obtained from various sources such as the rhizosphere, phyllosphere, soil or from water environments such as seas, lakes, ponds or shrimp ponds and so on. Chitin that exists in nature is easily degraded by microorganisms. There are two pathways in the chitin degradation process. First, degradation by chitinolytic which hydrolyzes the ?-1,4-glycoside bond. Second, the polymer undergoes first deacetylation and then hydrolysis by chitosanase. Chitinase has many benefits, including as a bioinsecticide and biofunctional agent in controlling plant pests and is used to process chitin waste in the shrimp and crab freezing industry. It can also be used in the medical and food fields. From the test results, three types of bacteria were obtained, namely Vibrio sp, Bacillus sp, and Pseudomonas sp.

ШЛЯХИ ПОБУДОВИ ЕНЕРГОЕФЕКТИВНИХ СВІТЛОДІОДНИХ СИСТЕМ ФІТООСВІТЛЕННЯ

Lighting of plant crops (phytolighting) realized on the basis of LEDs has revolutionized the field of indoor agriculture and cultivation of crops in closed controlled environments due to the possibility of optimizing the spectral composition and high energy efficiency. The use of specialised quasi-monochromatic radiation allows the activation of specific photomorphogenic, biochemical or physiological responses in plants, while LED radiation of a specific spectral composition (e.g. UV radiation) allows the control of plant pests and diseases. The literature review indicates that there is a species- and cultivar-specific response of plants to light radiation of a particular spectral composition and that this response varies with the stage of plant development, the intensity of illumination, the duration of plant development and specific interactions with the environment. Based on the developed recommendations for the spectral composition of radiation intended for plant illumination, the requirements for the spectral composition of light for phytolighting systems were determined. The efficiency of LEDs with different spectral compositions for plant illumination and the most energy efficient LEDs for use in phytolighting systems were determined. Special software was developed to determine the photon radiation efficiency and it was determined for a wide range of LED light sources. The LEDs studied had photon efficiencies ranging from 3.78 μmol/J (quasi-monochromatic blue LEDs) to 5.46 μmol/J (quasi- monochromatic red LEDs). White LEDs, depending on their colour rendering index, had a photon spectral efficiency in the range of 4.62-4.79 μmol/J. Some modern white LEDs with a high colour rendering index have a photon spectral efficiency close to that of phytolighting based on special quasi-monochromatic LEDs, but their efficiency, taking into account the weighting factor of the use of photons of different wavelengths for photosynthesis, is much lower.

Application of Fuzzy Inference System Takagi-Sugeno Methods for Diagnosis of Diseases and Pests of Madura Paddy Rice Based on Symptoms

Diseases and pests of lowland rice are one of the factors that can cause a decrease in rice yields. Therefore, it is necessary to have a diagnostic system to identify diseases and pests of paddy rice from an early age based on damage symptoms. The process of diagnosis requires expertise, knowledge, and experience from experts. Therefore, this research tries to build an expert system that can diagnose diseases and pests of paddy rice early by applying the Fuzzy Inference System Takagi with the Sugeno method. Fuzzy Inference System Takagi forms fuzzy sets using implication functions (rules). Rule composition is obtained from a data set of relationships between regulations, where the affirmation (defuzzification) and input from defuzzification is a constant or linear equation. The Sugeno method is used to diagnose diseases and pests of rice plants based on the symptoms experienced. This research aims to help plant pest control officers diagnose diseases and pests of paddy rice plants from the symptoms that attack the rice. The testing technique used is system accuracy testing and Mean Opinion Score (MOS) testing. The MOS test was carried out by involving 30 respondents consisting of 10 farmers and 20 extension workers, where 4.27 was obtained on a scale of 5 which was categorized into a good system. while testing the accuracy obtained from testing the system on two experts on diseases and pests of Madura paddy rice plants in 30 different cases has resulted in an accuracy rate of 86.66%. The expert system built in this study was able to diagnose 13 diseases and pests of Madura paddy based on the knowledge of two experts on 38 symptoms, and the plan was feasible to use and categorized into a good system.

Edukasi Tentang Identifikasi Dan Pengendalian Hama Dan Penyakit Tanaman Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Pestisida Nabati Di Desa Bangun Sari, Kecamatan Kampar Kiri Hilir, Kabupaten Kampar, Riau

Bangun Sari Village is a village in Kampar Kiri Hilir District. Judging from its geographical location, Bangun Sari Village has great potential for development as an oil palm plantation business. Behind its potential, there are disturbances that can reduce oil palm productivity, namely plant pest organisms. One of the caterpillars that eat oil palm leaves is the fire caterpillar (setora nitens). Fire caterpillar attacks are generally treated by using synthetic chemical pesticides. However, the use of synthetic chemical pesticides can have negative effects. The best solution to overcome this is to use vegetable pesticides. Many plants can be used as raw materials for vegetable pesticides, such as babadotan plants, lemongrass leaves, neem leaves and others. Based on surveys and interview results, the PKM team received information that the community had no knowledge of identifying and controlling plant pests and diseases. Therefore, pest and disease control must be right on target and carried out with good and correct procedures. Control measures are expected to increase palm oil production and productivity.

Keanekaragaman Coccinellid Predator sebagai Musuh Alami Hama Kutu-Kutuan pada Ekosistem Pertanaman Cabai Merah di Kecamatan Merawang, Kabupaten Bangka

Coccinellid beetles (Coleoptera), most of which are predatory species on small, soft-bodied insects. Predatory Coccinellids are biological agents that functions as pest control in cultivated plants. The control of plant pests needs the availability of data on potential coccinellid predators. This reserach aims to study the diversity, richness, evenness and dominance of predatory coccinellid and to determine their relationship with environmental microclimate parameters. The research was carried out in the red chili plantation ecosystem at Merawang District, Bangka Regency. Three stations were used, i.e., station 1, 2, and 3 in Kimak, Jada Bahrin, and Balunijuk villages, respectively. Predatory coccinellid were collected by hand picking and by using a sweep net. Data on diversity analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener, Data on richness analyzed using the Margalef, Data on evenness analyzed using the Pielow evenness indices. dominance species was analyzed using the Simpson formula. The results showed that there were 7 species of predatory coccinellid, namely Coccinella tranversalis, Harmonia octomaulata, Menochilus sexmaculatus, Coelephora. macullata, C. bisellata, Verania lineate, and V. discolor with diversity at a moderate level (1,254), evenness at a low level (0.239) , the richness at a low level (1,628), and dominance of coccinellid at a low level (0.369).
