This case study reviewed the implementation of Section G. Women in Power and Decision-Making of the Beijing Platform for Action in Finland. The process of implementation was studied and divided into four categories to determine the Finnish Government's compliance with the Beijing Platform. Data was collected through official documents from the United Nations and the government of Finland. These documents were reviewed to determine the implementation process and the goals developed by Finland. Analysis of the government programs then determined the status of compliance. The extensive programs and continual review of the status of women by the Finnish government revealed a strong commitment to the goal of achieving gender equality. In all four categories used to determine the complete adoption of gender mainstreaming policies, the Finnish Government successfully established methods of meeting the implementation goals. While Finland has successfully begun the implementation process, evidence from analysis of the statistical data shows improvement of these policies is clearly needed. Recommendations for continued enforcement of the Beijing Platform include increased promotion of women's participation in municipalities, and public education efforts.
