Research of Intersection Bridge Span Arrangement of Urban Expressway

Based on the problems of development and modernization of urban transportation in China, it introduces the fact that the widely construction of expressway over the past decade as a starting point to analyze its characteristics. Firstly, it analyzes the features of intersection and general design principles of intersection, and studies the specific design methods of intersection. Secondly, the paper studies the span arrangement of Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge based on the structural characteristics of the bridge itself. Finally, it studies the span arrangement concerning the traffic design of intersection, and the writer designs the traffic arrangement of intersection and the span arrangement of the bridge above, which is located at the middle ring expressway, Kunshan, Jiangsu and eastern part of Jianghai expressway, Nantong, Jiangsu to give an example.

Research on Construction Control of Long-Span Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge

On the background of 318 highway bridge of the Yinjiang Jihan Navigation Project, it introduces the methods and contents of the construction control of long-span prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, it adopts Midas/Civil softwares to have a simulation analysis and effective control for the construction process of whole bridge. The result indicates that safety of the bridge construction, linear and the variation of prestress are all in control. Finally, the condition of structure of bridge suits for computational state theoretically.

Fine-Analysis for the Concrete Upper Rotation Table and Pier of a Bridge Using Rotation Construction Method

This paper focuses mainly on the case of a three-span prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge. A solid element model of the concrete upper rotation table and pier was established adopting the Midas/Civil Software, considering four unfavorable conditions including eccentric load effects. Then a strict inspection was given on the stresses and deformations of the model in each condition to check the safety of the structures during both processes of girder casting and bridge rotation. The results are positive and satisfactory.

Procedure Inversion Effect Analysis of Final System Transformation of Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge

When the cantilever construction is adopted by the prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, the order of two key procedures between removing temporary support and tensing remanent prestressed cable is used to be ignored. In order to study the influence of procedure inversion, the influences on bridge shape, stress distribution and prestressing loss were calculated for one common prestressed continuous concrete box girder bridge by MIDAS CIVIL 2006, respectively. The obtained result presents that: the influence on the bridge shape and the prestressing loss are not apparent, but the influence on the stress distribution is serious; the maximal compressive stress of procedure inversion is more 42.3% than common construction procedure only by tensing the remaining steel beams at box girder; especially, the combining area between the box girder and temporary support is easy to pull out. So, the procedure inversion construction method cant be accepted.

Research on Deflection and Cracking of Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge

Through the checking comparison of example bridge, to analysis the major causes of the cracking and too much deflection for prestressed concrete continuous box girder bridge. Calculated weak position and the current presence of cracks in the bridge position basically consistent, so cracks mainly caused by the prestress loss, concrete creep and the temperature effect, the structure stiffness weakened after cracking, then the actual mid-span deflection is greater than the calculated values bound. Therefore, the cracking and too much deflection appear simultaneous and mutual promote. The view that by improving the mechanical behavior of box girders, design parameters optimization, just the fundamental solution to cracking and too much deflection, also, several key issues need study to be addressed.

Parametric Analysis on Incrementally Launched Construction for Concrete Box Girder

The structural behavior of incrementally launched bridges in the construction stages depends on different parameters. Internal force of main girder is influenced by the dead load and stiffness of main girder, the length and stiffness of launching nose. Parametric analysis on the effect of internal force of an 8×60m-span concrete continuous box girder bridge was carried out. The results show that bending moment increases following the increase of weight and stiffness of corresponding segment of main girder. The phenomenon is even more obvious in the negative bending moment region of main girder segment nearby the launching nose. The bending moment of main girder reduces significantly when the stiffness ratio among launching nose and main girder is less than 0.15. While, the negative bending moment of main girder reduces significantly when the length ratio among launching nose and main span is more than 0.58.

Application of Displacement Back Analysis in Geometry Monitoring of Segmental Construction of Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge

This paper apply displacement back analysis theory for geometry form monitoring and calculating work of segmental construction of prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, making use of displacement back analysis method to optimize bridge structure parameters, ensuring accuracy of geometry form control with calculated results of every girder segment in entire construction. This method is used in the construction monitoring and supervision for Yuanyichang circular curved rigid frame bridge on Pingan-Adai highway, to make the closure accuracy and the bridge geometry form reaches the effect of aspiration. Through the result of the finished bridge, what we can obtain is that the displacement back analysis theory could fulfill the requirement of factual project and be widely used for geometry monitoring of segmental construction of prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge.

Study on Spatial Effect of Wide Box Girders under Unbalance Loading

Prestressed concrete continuous wide box girder bridge is widely used in urban bridges, because of its large width-span ratio, spatial effects from unbalance load cannot be ignored. When the bridge was analyzed by beam element system, the increased coefficient of unbalance loading is used to simplified space problem into plane problem. Spatial effect of wide box girder under unbalance loading is calculated by solid finite element method, and used in a project example in Hangzhou. Comparing analysis results of solid finite element with other simplified methods, it shows that the solid element method is more applicable and accurate. This method and results offer reference for similar bridge design calculation.

Research on Diaphragm Reinforcement Design of Continuous Composite Girder Bridge with Corrugated Steel Webs

Diaphragm distributes lateral loads, and improves mechanical properties of bridge structure of prestressed concrete (PC) continuous wide girder bridge. The role of diaphragm is more prominent in composite wide girder bridge with corrugated steel webs, which stiffness is smaller compared with PC continuous bridge. Diaphragm is calculated and analyzed of composite box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs, and reinforcement schemes are presented, aimed at diaphragm crack width overrun and insufficient bearing capacity. The reinforcement scheme is adding prestressed steel cables and special supports, stress and crack resistance are analyzed on reinforced diaphragm to verify the existing problems can be completely solved.

Analysis the same Continuous Girder Bridge Based on Different Construction Methods

As the object to a prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge, which is an actual bridge, finite element modes were established respectively for the same actual bridge in different construction methods. The calculation results were analyzed comparatively and then the difference of the design results between the two construction methods was discussed in the gravity of structures, combination for action effects and the reinforcement bars, in order to accumulate useful experience in designing bridges.

A Comparative Assessment of Sliding and Elastomeric Seismic Isolation in a Typical Multi-Span Bridge

This article compares the performance of sliding vs. elastomeric seismic isolation in a typical Multi-Span Continuous Concrete Girder bridge using advanced nonlinear seismic isolator models. The Friction Pendulum System (FPS) and the Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) are selected as representative examples of sliding and elastomeric isolators, respectively. The newly presented LRB model captures the horizontal and vertical coupling of the response and allows monitoring the strength and stiffness fluctuations in the time domain. The elastomeric scheme provides a more uniform response along the bridge, and imparts lower demand to the substructure but acquires higher displacements than the sliding alternative.

Analysis of the Causes of the Formation of Crack in Inclined Web of Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge in Cantilever Construction

The crack in inclined web of the prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge which is constracted by the way of cast-in-place cantilever method that become one problem that should be more cared about[1-2]. This paper analysis the bridge in three different conditions which are according to the pratical and special engineering to find the causes of the formation of crack in inclined web of prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge in cantilever construction. The results of the analysis show that the additional stress caused by the different temperatures between internal and external components leads to the formation of the crack in inclined web of the bridge.

Stress Analysis of High Thin-Walled Box Girder Bridge in Chong He Bridge

Based on the Chong He Bridge as research object, this paper expounds the purposes, methods and analysis results of prestressed concrete continuous thin-walled box girder bridge in the process of cantilever construction. The purpose of the research is to make a reasonable structure which meets the designed stress monitoring and to ensure the quality of construction. The method is to layout stress control points in the main control section and conduct real-time control. The result shows that the beam stress is within the safety range and can predict that the structure meets strength requirements in next stage. The conclusion is that through the data analysis, the results guide the whole process of bridge construction as well as fit the design plan.

Prestressed Concrete Continuous Girder Bridge Reinforcement Simulation Analysis and Carrying Capacity Assessment

This article simulates prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge reinforced many times and evaluates carrying capacity after reinforcement. Taking the FuFeng bridge for an example, we analyze the bridge’s stress state in using by Midas software, evaluate the concrete ability of crack resistance, check the reinforced concrete structure ultimate carrying capacity, the cracking resistance and the stiffness, assess reinforcement effect and verify the accuracy and reliability of the simulation results. The maximum main compressive stress, maximum compressive stress, maximal main tensile stress and maximum tension stress of mid-span cross-section of the bridge are 1.6Mpa, 1.6Mpa, 0.3~0.5Mpa, and -1.2Mpa respectively, the mid-span center cross-section of deflection is 2.89cm. Reinforcement suppresses the development and expansion of the crack; the mid-span deflection tends to stabilize; the ultimate bearing capacity meets the Standard requirement basically; the emergency capacity is not enough; and the car whose weight over 55 tons is prohibited from passing.

Influence of Cracks Parameters on Bearing Capacity for Prestressed Concrete Box Girder

For long-span pre-stressed concrete continuous box girder bridges, cracks and other damage problem are often found because of influence of loads, climate, operations management and other factors during operation. The problem of cracking is serious increasingly, which has a direct impact on usability, durability and security. In order to analyze the bearing capacity of the bridge with cracks under different parameters, such as cracks width, cracks height and cracks spacing and provide the basis for the safety assessment and reinforcement, the paper puts forward the cracking reduction coefficient that evaluates the bearing capacity of the damaged bridge based on the tensile stress control. A three-span continuous rigid frame bridge is analyzed and the result shows that the bearing capacity of the bridge is in inverse proportion to cracks width and cracks height. The bearing capacity of the bridge is in direct proportion to cracks spacing.

Structural Optimization of Prestessed Concrete Continuous Box Girder Bridges in Highway Viaduct

According to using status of short span concrete bridges commonly used in highway viaduct, structural finite element analysis taking account of some parameters like connection between pier and beam, pier height, transverse bearing spacing and early support differential settlements was given based on existing cracking beams of small box girders during construction and operation. Some structural optimization recommendations and construction control suggestions was proposed. The study results are constant well with the data of the survey results and the actual status of projects, which may be taken as reference for similar projects in the design and construction.

Numerical modelling of continuous concrete box girder bridges considering construction stages

The aim of this study is to analyse the concrete continuous box girder bridges by considering segmentally construction stages through balanced cantilever method. Time-dependent material properties of concrete and steel are also taken into account. Budan Bridge is selected as a numerical example. The Bridge constructed with balanced cantilever method and located on Artvin–Erzurum highway, Turkey, at 55 + 729.00–56 + 079.00 km is modelled using SAP2000 program. Geometric nonlinearities are taken into consideration in the analysis using P-Delta and large displacement criterion. Time-dependent material properties are considered as compressive strength, aging, shrinkage and creep for concrete, and relaxation for steel. The structural behaviour of the bridge at different construction stages is examined. Variation of internal forces such as bending moment, shear forces and axial forces, and displacements for bridge deck and pier are given with detail. Analyses show that, to obtain real behaviour of concrete bridges, segmentally construction stage analysis using time dependent material properties and geometric nonlinearity should be considered, because construction period continue along time and loads may change during this period and after.

Effects Analysis of Web Cracks on Long-Term Deformation of Large Span Pre-Stressed Concrete Continuous Box Girder Bridge

Excessive deflection and its long-term sustainable development has become a common disease of large span pre-stressed concrete continuous box girder bridge, but the causes of it is difficult to reach consensus. A three-spans continuous pre-stressed concrete box girder bridge is studied in this paper. The web inclined cracks near L/4 of the continuous girder bridge is simulated by FEM (finite element method), in order to explore the influences of web inclined cracks near L/4 on the overall deflection of the bridge and the effect differences of the crack width, length and numbers. The results show that when the web inclined cracks reach a certain level, it will cause a long-term sustainable development of the deflection of the bridge. Therefore, web inclined crack is the main factor that causes the sustainable development of long-term deflection of large span pre-stressed concrete continuous box girder bridges.

Optimization on Closure Scheme of Multi-Span Prestressed Concrete Box-Girder Bridge

The stress state of finished bridge and service stage is influenced by various closure schemes in cantilever construction of multi-span prestressed concrete box-girder bridge. Two typical bridges—multi-span prestressed concrete continuous rigid frame bridge and girder bridge are investigated, The stress state in different closure schemes are analyzed using finite element(FE) analysis. Meanwhile, compared the healthy monitoring data, it has been found that taking the closure sequence from side span to middle span in cantilever construction of multi-span prestressed concrete box-girder bridge can lower stress of girder and pier in finished bridge stage, as well as reducing deformation of girder in service stage. Hence, the closure sequence from side span to middle span is more suitable for cantilever construction of multi-span prestressed concrete box-girder bridge.
