This article reviews the design of an effective and interesting Arabic curriculum and teaching material, aimed at improving students' understanding and skills in the language. The main focus is on the creation of curricula that are dynamic and responsive to student needs, as well as the development of educational materials that vary and utilize technology. The methodology described includes the analysis of students' needs to design a competence-based curriculum, the integration of technology into the teaching material, and the use of interactive media to create an exciting learning experience. Implementation of these curricula and teaching materials shows positive results, with significant increases in student motivation and involvement, as well as improvements in their language skills. Continuous evaluation and adjustment based on student feedback are key to ensuring that the curriculum and the teaching material remain relevant and effective. This article provides insight into how a systematic approach to curriculum design and the development of teaching materials can improve the quality of Arabic learning and meet student learning needs in a comprehensive way.

Strategi Guru Mata Pelajaran Fiqh Dalam Peningkatkan Pemahaman Agama

This study examines the strategies employed by fiqh teachers to enhance students' religious understanding at MA Raden Rahmat Mojowarno Jombang. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research reveals comprehensive efforts made by fiqh teachers through a combination of classroom learning and extracurricular religious activities. The main strategies include planning and implementing routine religious activities such as congregational Dhuha prayer, Qur'an recitation, and other religious practices. In the classroom, teachers apply varied learning methods including expository, heuristic, and reflective approaches. Despite facing challenges such as time constraints and limited infrastructure, teachers demonstrate creativity in optimizing available resources. The holistic approach implemented encompasses cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, aiming not only to enhance theoretical understanding but also to shape students' character and behavior in accordance with religious values. This study highlights the importance of collaboration among schools, families, and communities in supporting students' religious education. The research findings indicate that the applied strategies have the potential to address the challenges of religious education in the modern era, yet require continuous evaluation and systemic support for long-term effectiveness.

Implementation of religious and cultural tourism development policies in Penyengat island

The tourism development program on Pengenyat Island, Tanjungpinang City has been running with the aim of increasing public awareness about the importance of culture and religion. The aim of this research is to analyze the policy implementation model using Meter & Horn (1975) theory. This research method uses a descriptive-qualitative approach by studying related documents and conducting interviews with relevant informants. Data analysis uses triangulation techniques which are analyzed in depth. The research results show that the tourism development program on Penyengat Island has made a positive contribution to tourism development. Model in the Implementation Process of Meter & Horn (1975) Development Policy for Tourism Development on Penyengat Island on Policy Standards and Targets requires continuous evaluation and improvement, then resources are carried out such as training and increasing insight into both human resources and natural resources. The characteristics of the Implementing Organization have the potential to increase cooperation with the government and other related parties. Next, Inter-Organizational Communication is related to institutional capacity in decisions on Development Programs so that the importance of community participation in monitoring, then the Disposition or Attitude of the Implementer and the Implementing Activities that have been carried out must pay attention to the importance of the government playing an active role by paying attention in the early stages of the plan, providing guidance and education to the community . Finally, socio-economic and political environmental conditions need to pay attention to the customs and cultural awareness of local communities that must be maintained in the policy implementation process. The conclusion of this research is that local governments need to increase public awareness about the importance of culture and religion through Tourism Development programs that are in accordance with local culture and traditions.

Conceptual framework for enhancing project management practices among women entrepreneurs in event management

It includes practical strategies and tools for effective planning, resource management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and continuous evaluation. The framework's application in real-world scenarios is discussed, providing actionable recommendations for women entrepreneurs. The paper also identifies future research directions, including empirical validation, case studies, technology integration, cross-cultural analysis, and longitudinal studies, to further refine and expand the framework.

Long-term pure- and mixed-gas performance of carbon molecular sieve membranes derived from a tetraphenylethylene-based ladder polymer of intrinsic microporosity (TPE-PIM) for propylene/propane separation

Continuous long-term evaluation of propylene and propane permeation through narrow slit carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes is essential for an in-depth study of their steady-state separation performance. CMS membranes are characterized by finely tuned ultramicroporous structures, exceptional thermal and chemical stability, and hold great promise for the energy-intensive separation of propylene and propane. However, the gradual changes in their performance over time due to penetrant-induced structural chain rearrangements have often been overlooked. In this study, we prepared CMS membranes using a polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM) with a highly aromatic tetraphenylethylene (TPE) based building block. The presence of bulky and sterically hindered TPE repeat units renders this polymer an excellent precursor for the fabrication of high-performance CMS membranes. The TPE-PIM-based precursor underwent pyrolysis at temperatures ranging from 550 to 700 °C for 1 h. Pure- and mixed-gas permeation tests were accompanied by various characterization techniques to assess the carbonization state of the CMS materials. The CMS pyrolyzed at 700 °C exhibited a decline in pure-gas C3H6/C3H8 selectivity from an initial value of 300 to 161 at steady state over a 20-day period. Even more notable, under equimolar mixed-gas feed conditions, the isotropic CMS film displayed a substantial C3H6/C3H8 selectivity reduction from 214 to 62 over a 24-day period. This performance decline can be attributed to competitive sorption and very slow dilation kinetics, which led to moderately reduced propylene permeability while significantly enhancing propane permeability. Our study suggests that long-term, continuously performed mixed-gas permeation experiments are essential to assess the ‘steady-state’ performance of CMS membranes for mixtures containing highly sorbing feed components, as observed for propylene/propane separation.

Toward the first Red List of Latvian lichens according to the IUCN criteria

Lichens are well-known bioindicators and exhibit high sensitivity to environmental changes due to their unique biological characteristics. Despite their ecological significance, lichens are often overlooked in conservation policies both at the European Union (EU) and global levels. The situation is better at the level of national Red Lists that can provide candidate species for regional or global Red Lists, thereby helping to prioritize conservation efforts. To fill a gap at the national level, this article presents the comprehensive data of the Red List of Latvian lichens. For the first time, IUCN threat categories and criteria were applied to assess 85 lichenized and one lichenicolous fungus during 2022–2023. Of these species, 3 were classified as Least Concern (LC), 2 as Data Deficient (DD), 11 as Near Threatened (NT), and 68 were ascribed the threatened categories: 14 to Vulnerable (VU), 27 to Endangered (EN), 27 to Critically Endangered (CR). The majority of Latvian lichens categorized as threatened or near threatened inhabit woodlands, particularly old-growth forests, which face the primary threat of intensive forest management. This article emphasizes the importance of continued evaluation efforts, while also addressing challenges associated with data scarcity and limited lichenological research capacity in Latvia.

SCREENING OF COTTON (GOSSYPIUM HIRSUTUM L.) GERMPLASM AGAINST COTTON LEAF CURL VIRUS (CLCUV)

Cotton Leaf Curl Virus (CLCuV) is a devastating disease affecting cotton production worldwide, particularly in South Asia and Africa transmitted by the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). CLCuV infection leads to severe symptoms, including leaf curling, vein thickening, stunted growth, and significant yield losses. Developing resistant cotton varieties is the most suitable strategy for managing CLCuV, given the limitations and environmental concerns associated with chemical controls. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance and susceptibility of different cotton varieties to CLCuV under natural field conditions and artificially infected condition using a disease severity scale ranging from 0 (highly resistant) to 5 (susceptible). A total of five cotton varieties, were assessed at three critical growth stages: vegetative, flowering, and boll formation. Disease severity, and yield components were recorded to determine extent of resistance of each variety. The results indicated that genotypes and treatments had significant variation in control compared to T1. According to DSI, NIAB-852 was scored as resistant with 10% infected leaves. FH-142 and CIM-496 were scored as tolerant according to DSI with 10-25% infection in leaves. NIAB Karishma and CIM-448 were scored as moderately susceptible with 50-75% infection. All genotypes had significant reduction in number of bolls, boll weight and seed cotton yield in T1 than control. These findings provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of existing cotton germplasm against CLCuV and highlight the need for continuous evaluation and development of resistant varieties. The study highlights the importance of generating resistant cultivars, thereby ensuring sustainable cotton production.

Factors of Authenticity: Exploring Santorini’s Heritage Hotels

The purpose of this article is to investigate the factors that influence the authenticity of heritage hotels in popular tourist destinations. Using the Greek island of Santorini as a case study, the following three (3) factors, which have not been systematically studied so far, are examined and appear to have a significant impact on authenticity in the conversion of a heritage architectural building into a heritage hotel: (a) its structural characteristics, (b) the influence of the star classification system and (c) the extent to which each business promotes authenticity elements and heritage identity. For the purposes of this study, a threefold methodological approach was conducted, which includes archival research in the registry of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels for all the heritage hotels in Santorini (69 units), research in the accounting data of the island’s heritage hotels certified with the national star ranking system for their services and amenities and research analysis of the information regarding the promotion of the heritage hotels through their official websites. Additionally, a cartographic representation of the locations of these hotels was created and their positioning was compared to the boundaries of traditional or non-traditional settlements. The results validated the basic finding of the literature review, that the authenticity of a heritage hotel is a construction under constant negotiation, influenced by a multitude of factors. The conversion of a historic building into a heritage hotel is a multidimensional process that requires a delicate balance between preserving cultural value and adapting to the needs of modern tourism, as well as a continuous evaluation and review of the policies in place.

Kontroversi Kurikulum Pesantren dan Tantangan dalam Membangun Standar Mutu Pendidikan : Menemukan Keseimbangan antara Tradisi dan Modernisasi

The Islamic boarding school curriculum is considered not to suit the demands of the modern world. There are also challenges for Islamic boarding schools to improve the quality standards of their education. This research aims to determine curriculum design and improve the quality standards of Islamic boarding school education in achieving a balance of tradition and modernization. The research uses a qualitative approach with the literature study method. Data collection techniques use document studies in the form of journals, books and other sources. Data analysis uses content analysis. Research findings show that there is educational curriculum controversy and challenges to quality standards in Islamic boarding schools. Several solutions were found, namely: Development of an integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum, teacher training and development, use of technology in education, collaboration with other Islamic education institutions, and continuous evaluation. This solution must be implemented with the principle of continuity and change.

The prince of insiders: a multiple pathway approach to understanding IP theft insider attacks

Purpose Intellectual property (IP) theft is an increasing threat that can lead to large financial losses and reputational harm. These attacks are typically noticed only after the IP is stolen, which is usually too late. This paper aims to investigate the psychological profile and the socio-technical events that statistically predict the likelihood of an IP threat. Design/methodology/approach This paper analyses 86 IP theft cases found in court documents. Two novel analyses are conducted. The research uses LLMs to analyse the personality of these insiders, which is followed by an investigation of the pathways to the attack using behaviour sequence analysis (BSA). Findings These IP theft insiders scored significantly higher on measures of Machiavellianism compared to the normal population. Socio-technical variables, including IP theft via photographs, travelling overseas, approaching multiple organisations and delivering presentations, were identified. Contrary to previous assumptions that there is a single pathway to an attack, the authors found that multiple, complex pathways lead to an attack (sometimes multiple attacks). This work, therefore, provides a new framework for considering critical pathways to insider attacks. Practical implications These findings reveal that IP theft insiders may come across as charming, star employees rather than the stereotype of disgruntled employees. Moreover, organisations’ policies may need to consider that IP theft occurs via non-linear and multiple pathways. This means that sequences of events need to be considered in detecting these attacks instead of anomalies outright. The authors also argue that there may be a case for “continuous evaluation” to detect insider activity. Originality/value This paper offers a new framework for understanding and studying insider threats. Instead of a single critical pathway, this work demonstrates the need to consider multiple interconnected pathways. It elucidates the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and provides opportunities to reconsider current practices in detection and prevention.

Implementasi Total Quality Management dalam Meningkatkan Daya Saing Perusahaan

This research examines the effect of implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) on company competitiveness. The results show that TQM has a significant and positive effect on increasing competitiveness and company performance. Key contributing factors include customer focus, continuous system improvement, education and training, and employee involvement and empowerment. TQM improves various aspects of competitiveness such as operational efficiency, innovation, customer satisfaction, productivity and product quality. Effective strategies to overcome TQM implementation challenges include top management commitment, development of a quality culture, gradual implementation, effective communication, use of quality tools, continuous evaluation, and encouraging innovation. The research also discusses the impact of TQM on supply chain management and the importance of data-based decision making. In conclusion, effective TQM implementation can significantly increase a company's competitiveness in an increasingly competitive global market.

A Cross-sectional Study to Assess the Patient Satisfaction in the Polyclinic Complex of a Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital

Abstract Introduction: Assessment of patient satisfaction is a commonly used indicator for measuring the quality of health care. This study aimed to assess patient satisfaction, identify system gaps, and provide recommendations to improve patient satisfaction. Materials and Methods: It is a cross-sectional study which employed a prevalidated “Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire-18” (PSQ-18) developed by RAND Corporation. Data collection spanned 4 weeks, involving 332 participants selected through simple random sampling. The analysis included descriptive statistics and scoring based on the Likert scale. Scoring focused on seven dimensions of patient satisfaction, and classification into satisfied, neutral, or dissatisfied categories was guided by guidelines provided by the PSQ-18. Results: The study revealed an overall patient satisfaction rate of 72%, with variations across dimensions. The highest satisfaction was observed in general satisfaction (86%). Conclusion: The findings aligned with global trends, emphasizing the importance of patient satisfaction in evaluating health-care quality. Continuous evaluations and the implementation of recommendations contribute to improved satisfaction and enhanced health-care quality.

RETAINING EMPLOYEE COMMITMENT: UNDERSTANDING FACTORS IN RETENTION MANAGEMENT AT THE MINISTRY OF INVESTMENT/BKPM A CASE STUDY IN THE NON-INDUSTRIAL LICENSING DIRECTORATE

This research aims to determine the factors that influence employee retention and commitment within the Directorate of Non-Industrial Licensing at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM. The main goal is to understand how job satisfaction, organizational support, and career development influence employee retention. This research addresses the challenge of retaining a high-performing and committed workforce, which is critical to achieving the Ministry's strategic objectives. The Ministry of Investment/BKPM, since its transformation from BKPM, has made a significant contribution to increasing foreign and domestic investment through improving licensing and facilitation processes. This research was conducted through a qualitative approach using the triangulation method to obtain comprehensive employee insight. The internship program is focused on analyzing retention management practices, organizational support systems, and career development opportunities in the Ministry. Key accomplishments include detailed assessments of employee perceptions of job satisfaction, effectiveness of organizational policies, and clarity of promotion processes. Based on these findings, several recommendations are proposed to improve retention strategies. Continuous evaluation and improvement of organizational practices, policies and processes is essential. Factors such as a supportive work environment and fair treatment were identified as important factors for employee commitment, while ambiguity in the promotion process was an issue. Future internship programs should focus on analyzing these aspects more thoroughly and implementing regular feedback sessions to understand employee perspectives better. This will help in increasing employee commitment and satisfaction.

A critical review of the Iranian National Olympic Committee's performance in designing the opening parade costumes: signs of inefficiency and damage to the national identity

This research aims to evaluate and critique the performance of the Iranian National Olympic Committee in designing the costumes for the Olympic opening parade. The study seeks to identify the strengths and weaknesses of these designs and compare them with successful global examples to help improve future designs. A review method was used to achieve this goal. This method involved examining previous research related to the design of Olympic uniforms and the criticisms they received. The analysis included public and media critiques, athlete surveys, and an examination of the characteristics of successful international designs.The findings indicate that Iran's Olympic uniforms have struggled to make a positive impact internationally due to weaknesses in aligning with global standards, a lack of attention to cultural symbols, and inadequate use of modern technologies. Compared to successful global designs, these uniforms have faced challenges in representing national identity and effectively communicating with audiences. The study concludes that to improve future designs, the Iranian National Olympic Committee should focus on enhancing collaboration with cultural and social experts, using international consultants to align with global standards, and establishing continuous evaluation processes to identify and address weaknesses. Additionally, developing specialized teams and providing training for designers are recommended to improve design quality and elevate national prestige on the international stage.

Overview of Malaria in Pregnancy: Challenges and Strategies for Effective Prevention

Malaria in pregnancy is a significant public health issue in sub-Saharan Africa, with 30 million pregnancies at risk each year. Pregnant women are particularly vulnerable due to immunological changes and the placental environment that facilitates parasite sequestration. The predominant malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, is associated with significant maternal and fetal complications. Effective malaria prevention strategies include insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and intermittent preventive treatment (IPTp) with Sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine. However, adherence to preventive chemotherapy is challenging due to side effects and socioeconomic barriers. Health education programs are crucial for increasing awareness and promoting preventive behaviors. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment are critical for managing severe malaria cases. Environmental and vector control measures, such as indoor residual spraying and larval source management, are vital for reducing mosquito populations and transmission. Nutritional interventions support immune function and overall health. Access to healthcare services, innovative technologies, and cultural and socioeconomic factors are essential for overcoming barriers to malaria prevention and treatment. Accuracy Analysis of Topographical and Morphological Code in the RSUP Dr. Sardjito Cancer Registry, Indonesia

In cancer cases, a cancer registry functions as a national cancer control program to analyze cancer severity and risk factors in specific areas, aiming to reduce morbidity and mortality. Accurate coding is essential for producing a high-quality cancer database. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of the cancer registry at RSUP Dr. Sardjito in assigning topography and morphology codes. A mixed-methods approach was employed to evaluate code accuracy and identify factors influencing accuracy and inaccuracy based on the 5M framework. Data were sourced from the Hospital-Based Cancer Registry at RSUP Dr. Sardjito, with a total population of 4500 patients in 2021. A sample of 1000 cancer patients was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Each sample was analyzed as true or false based on verifier notes, revealing that 904 topography codes were accurate (90.40%) and 96 were inaccurate (9.60%). For morphology codes, 913 were accurate (91.30%) and 87 were inaccurate (8.70%). Researchers conducted in-depth interviews with registrars and verifier doctors and observed all cancer registry activities, focusing on topography and morphology codification. Observations and interviews indicated no obstacles in codification activities, but inaccuracies occurred, possibly due to case complexity. In conclusion, the study demonstrates high accuracy in the coding of cancer cases at RSUP Dr. Sardjito. The complexity of cases may contribute to inaccuracies. The study suggests continuous evaluation to enhance coding accuracy, which is crucial for effective cancer control programs.

What does it take to offer high-quality, community-based, accessible mental health care in Lebanon?

Background: Armed conflict, economic collapse, the 2020 explosion, the COVID-19 pandemic, and persistent political and social instability have had severe impact on mental health in Lebanon. Aim: To highlight the critical elements for setting up a free community-based mental health care centre in Lebanon. Methods: Following the Beirut blast in 2020, a non-government organization started providing free, essential, personcentred, and holistic mental health care to residents in Lebanon through a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and mental health nurses. Results: During its first year of operation, the health centre provided 5392 free mental health consultations to 590 beneficiaries. Majority (67%) of the beneficiaries were female, and nearly half (45%) were aged 18–24 years. The most prevalent mental health disorders were major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Beneficiaries self-reported a 70% improvement in depression and a 76% improvement in anxiety after 3 months of treatment. Conclusion: Based on our experience, we advocate the community-based model as an effective approach to delivering mental health interventions and recommend a continuous evaluation of its impact in community settings.
