Table tennis as part of an elective course in physical education

Importance. One of the methods to improve the level of physical education teaching is the introduction of elective disciplines. Elective disciplines allow the student to satisfy his professional interests and personal inclinations, and give the teacher the opportunity to organize the educational process most effectively.Materials and Methods. One of the issues of teaching is carrying out constant monitoring and recording of progress, the correct distribution of points for completing assignments. Continuous monitoring allows the teacher to identify shortcomings and issues that arise when teaching elective disciplines and timely adjust the educational process.Results and Discussion. Using the pedagogical principles of sports-oriented physical development, we are developed a system of criteria that allows us to effectively assess the preparation of students in the process of studying the elective discipline “Table Tennis”. The assessment system is focused on the content of educational material in the module and took into account the main areas of training such as special technical training, theoretical and methodological foundations of tennis, general physical training. The assessment of the level of students’ training in special technical training is carried out by testing the skills of performing certain technical techniques. The quality and speed of performing these techniques are translated into points. During the learning process, the set of technical techniques becomes more complex or the requirements for the speed and quality of its implementation increase.Conclusion. The presented assessment system made it possible to effectively assess the level of students’ preparation when studying the elective discipline “Table Tennis”.

THE CONTENT OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL ON MECHANICAL SCIENCE IN THE TRAINING OF FUTURE LABOR AND TECHNOLOGY TEACHERS

The article deals with the solution to the problem of the low level of machine science knowledge of pre-service teachers of labor education and technology. It has been found out that it is based on a contradiction between the real content of mechanical training of students and the content of technological education of schoolchildren. The goal of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of students' knowledge of mechanical engineering, based on the study of the technology of transformation of mechanical energy of rotational movement. The methods of analysis and synthesis of achievements of machine science and scientific achievements of technological education have been used. It has been found that in the work of researchers of mechanical science, as well as researchers of technological education of schoolchildren, there are enough guidelines for a well-founded choice of the subject of study. It is described that it should meet a number of different level requirements, for example to contribute to the formation of the technical outlook of schoolchildren; correspond to the content of technological education of schoolchildren; have a polytechnic character; simultaneously belong to different types of working machines. Technical knowledge about it must be integrated with knowledge of mathematics and physics. It must be used in educational projects of schoolchildren being a model of implementation of natural and scientific knowledge in practice, and suitable for technical construction of schoolchildren. The machine drive as a subject of the study meets all the specified requirements. It has been revealed that the subject of study for the formation of students' general idea about machines should provide a large amount of knowledge about the types of working machines and at the same time a moderate content. It has been established that such contradictory requirements are met by the drive of the machine as a subject of study. It is described that the concept of drive has the property of fractality as far as it enables a free transition from the study of the drive of any mechanism to the study of the drive of any working machines. It is described that the condition for choosing the content of educational material for the formation of students' general idea about machines is the use of the mental operation of abstraction and the corresponding transition from the level of description of the morphology and functions of technical objects to the level of energy conversion technology. It has been substantiated that the didactic value of the basic technical phenomena of the machine drive is the transmission of mechanical motion to a distance, the change of the kinematic parameters of the mechanical motion and the change of the power parameters of the mechanical motion. There has been revealed the importance of the results of this study for the disclosure of approaches to the use of the project method, as well as the use of technical construction for the visual presentation of the basic technical phenomena

Lecture: "First Aid to the Population in Case of Traumatic Shock during Accidents, Catastrophes, Natural Disasters, and Terrorist Attacks. Anti-shock Measures in the Center of Mass Destruction and during the Evacuation Stages" of the Subject "Life Safety" for Humanitarian and Technical Universities

To prepare the population for first aid in case of traumatic shock, algorithms for the fundamentals of didactics of the educational topic “First aid to the population in case of traumatic shock during accidents, disasters, natural disasters and terrorist attacks” of the subject “Life Safety” are proposed. 32 years of experience in teaching the subject in humanitarian state educational institutions of higher professional education of a non-medical profile in the city of Syktyvkar are summarized. Educational questions are considered: 1) The concept of shock; 2) Traumatic shock; 3) Mechanisms of injury that contribute to the development of traumatic shock. Predisposing factors. Complications. At-risk groups; 4) Classification, phases, and degrees of shock; 5) Universal first aid algorithm; 6) Basic anti-shock measures in the source of mass destruction and at the stages of evacuation; 7) Features of anti-shock measures in children; 8) Typical first aid mistakes for traumatic shock. For each of the educational issues considered, a summary of the material presented is given. Depending on the purpose of studying the topic, purpose, content of educational material, and form of organization of training, the number of hours allocated to its presentation and study in various forms of the educational process is established. Their distribution includes 1 lecture (2 hours), 1 seminar (2), 1 practical lesson (2), and 6 hours of independent work by students.

Physical education program for schoolchildren with autism spectrum disorders

Programs focusing on a single type of physical activity may not be suitable for schoolchildren with ASD as they fail to provide sufficient variety of means, which can lead to decreased interest in physical education and one-sided development of children. The issue of meaningful content development in physical education programs to improve the quality of life, psycho-physical, and social development of schoolchildren with ASD remains inadequately addressed. Research Objective: To develop a physical education program aimed at improving the quality of life and psycho-physical and social development of schoolchildren with ASD. Methods. To justify the content and structure of the physical education program prioritizing the development of coordination abilities of children with ASD, levels of quality of life indicators, physical fitness, and adaptive behavior of children with ASD were determined; relationships between them were established; indicators for boys and girls were compared. To assess the effectiveness of the physical education program, a pedagogical experiment was conducted. Nineteen boys and five girls participated in it. Throughout the academic year, children followed the program prioritizing the development of coordination abilities. Results. A low level of physical fitness, adaptability, and quality of life indicators in children with ASD was established, requiring effective ways to improve them. Based on the results obtained, the structure and content of the physical education program for children with ASD with a priority focus on the use of means for developing coordination abilities were justified. The program differed from traditional ones by focusing on the development of all muscle groups, a wide range of means from various sports. The volume of exercises prioritizing the development of coordination abilities was 55%, they were used in all parts of physical education lessons throughout the academic year in the content of educational material of all optional modules and in homework; various sports equipment and musical accompaniment were used. Some means were excluded as children with ASD were unable to perform them. The educational program was nominally built on a modular system, containing an invariant (mandatory) and a variable component. The invariant part included: theoretical- methodological knowledge and general physical training, the content of which was implemented during each lesson. However, the material of variable modules was implemented not sequentially, but simultaneously in all lessons. Material from three variable modules (games, athletics, gymnastics) and physical training was combined in one lesson. Conclusions. The author's physical education program contributed not only to a significant improvement in their level of development but also to the speed strength and endurance of various muscle groups of boys with ASD; it was effective (p=0.01) in improving the cognitive component of the quality of life of boys with autism spectrum disorders; significant positive changes occurred in boys' vision (p<0.05). Most indicators did not change statistically significantly but tended to improve. The absence of significant changes in the results may be due to a large spread around the arithmetic mean.

Features of the formation of patriotism in the course of teaching humanitarian academic disciplines of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia

This author discusses the features of the research of the sense of patriotism among the cadets of the educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, conducted at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the introduction of methods to supplement the content of academic disciplines in the educational process. For this purpose, the author conducted experimental work on the formation of a sense of patriotism among police cadets at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy. The article describes the types of information elements directly introduced into the content of educational material or indirectly used during training sessions, reveals the specifics of their use for patriotic education. The specifics of the education of patriotism in the course of teaching humanitarian academic disciplines are revealed. The description of promising areas of further research on the topic of education of patriotism is given, and recommendations for improving the system of patriotic education in a departmental university are proposed. The transformation of the content of humanitarian disciplines is described in order to form a sense of patriotism among cadets. The researcher gives the author's typology of the feeling of patriotism, actualizes the question of the need to improve the process of patriotic education in new information and political conditions. The paper managed to show the peculiarities of the formation of patriotism in educational practice, in the process of teaching academic disciplines of the humanities cycle at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy in the educational system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Teaching the Python programming language in higher education institutions

In the modern digital society, the range of professions whose activities are related to the tasks of processing a large amount of data is expanding. For a quick, efficient, and high-quality solution of such tasks, appropriate software tools developed by professional programmers are required. The Python programming language allows fast, simple and economic development of new software tools within the framework of professional duties by employees who do not have deep knowledge in the field of programming but are well aware of the subject specifics of tasks. For this reason, the introduction of Python into the educational process in universities taking into account the peculiarities of educational directions can be a good tool for increasing the level of readiness of graduates for professional activity.This article discusses the problem of integrating the Python programming language into the informatics course at universities. It is proposed to determine the content of educational materials depending on the specifics of the field of study. It is recommended to organize the process of learning the Python programming language based on the classification of modules. The research uses methods of analysis and synthesis of existing sources on the Python language, training programs in various educational directions, standard programs for teaching informatics and information technology. An approximate list of topics and educational literature on the Python language is proposed, taking into account the specifics of educational directions of bachelor’s degree programs.University graduates with Python language skills within the limits recommended in this article, in addition to professional skills, will also have programming competencies and will be able to implement programming skills within their professional duties.

The paradigm of gender inclusion in the right to education: domestic and international experience

The issue of gender inclusion in the right to education is extremely relevant and characterized by scientific novelty. Given the active European integration movements of Ukraine, the stable position on the international arena and the adoption of relevant legislation, gender inclusion is gaining its popularity and the need for research.
 Within the framework of this scientific article, we conducted a conceptual and categorical analysis of the terms that form the basis of the work. It was concluded that the concept of “gender” can be represented as a designation of social, cultural, psychological and behavioral characteristics that society attributes to the female and male sexes based on social ideas, expectations and roles. Outlined the understanding of “gender inclusion” as an active practice and policy aimed at ensuring equal opportunities, rights and participation for women, men and persons with other gender identities in all spheres of society. The main goal of gender inclusion in the right to education was presented as a process of creating an inclusive, fair and equal educational system in which all participants can reveal their potential and develop their abilities without external marginalization pressure. Key aspects of the paradigm of gender inclusion in the right to education were presented, namely: provision of equal opportunities for learning and development regardless of gender and gender identity; elimination of gender stereotypes and practices of discrimination in educational institutions and pedagogical processes; implementation of gender analysis in the planning and development of educational programs, the content of educational materials and teaching methods; implementation of policies, legislation and programs aimed at protecting the rights of individuals in the field of education against any form of gender discrimination.

Educational Curriculum to Improve Clinical Outcomes in Diabetes Mellitus Patients: A Systematic Review

The success of controlling the current condition of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is not only determined by the help of medicine. DM therapy management is strongly supported by the success of providing education to DM patients, so that patients comply with treatment, adopt a healthy lifestyle, and can prevent complications that can end in death. This systematic review aims to find out what curriculum or content of educational materials needs to be given to DM patients to improve the achievement of clinical outcomes. Sage, Scient direct, and Pubmed were searched for relevant articles published between 2012 and 2022 using multiple search terms. STROBE tools were used to conduct quality assessments. Following that, a narrative synthesis of the findings was performed yield 1619 citations. After de-duplicating and screening, 18 studies were eligible for inclusion giving results. Educational materials related to diet/nutrition (n=17), physical activity (n=15), DM treatment (n=14), complications and risk factors (n= 13), goal setting or Healthy Living with DM (n=13), monitoring blood glucose levels parameters (n=11), description of DM (n=7), mental health (n=5), and foot care DM (n= 4). The review was hampered by the poor quality of the included studies. However, the evidence presented shows that educational materials provided to DM patients can improve clinical outcomes. Overall, the evidence base for educating DM patients in the community is still limited, and further research is needed.

ESTIMATING THE DIFFICULTY OF TEST QUESTIONS

The purpose of the presented work is to develop an approach that allows reducing the degree of subjectivity in assessing the complexity of a test task. The educational process consists of many different disciplines. Disciplines differ in the content of educational material, volume, number of hours devoted to study, type of control and tasks. Accordingly, teachers who make up questions of varying degrees of complexity (simple, medium complexity, increased complexity), when setting the complexity, may introduce some subjectivity. To obtain a timely assessment of the level of knowledge of trainees, a verified bank of test tasks of varying complexity is required. Adaptive testing allows to get an adequate assessment of trainees quickly. Adaptive testing is carried out using tasks of varying complexity. It is necessary to have a formal apparatus, that allows to get a bank of tasks with varying degrees of complexity. A formal apparatus reduces the degree of subjectivity in assessing the complexity of tasks. A bank of test items with calibrated questions with varying degrees of complexity will allow for adaptive testing in a number of disciplines. The solution of the problem posed is difficult to perform with the available classical methods of information processing. This problem can be solved using the apparatus of fuzzy sets, which allows to process parameters of various nature.

Living with metastatic breast cancer (LIMBER): experiences, quality of life, gaps in information, care and support of patients in the UK

PurposeTo determine the experiences, information, support needs and quality of life of women in the UK living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) to provide content for educational materials.MethodsAn online survey, hosted for 3 months on a UK MBC charity website, comprised sections covering issues such as communication about MBC treatment and management, helpful and less helpful things that healthcare professionals, family and friends did or said and completion of the Patient Roles and Responsibilities Scale (PRRS).ResultsA total of 143 patients participated; 48/143(33%) presented de novo; 54/143(38%) had been living with MBC > 2 years. PRRS analysis revealed that MBC imposed a serious impact upon most respondents’ own caring abilities and social lives. A majority 98/139 (71%) wished they had known more about MBC before their diagnosis; 63/134(47%) indicated that they still did not fully understand their illness; merely 78/139(56%) had access to a specialist nurse and only 69/135(51%) had been offered any additional support. Respondents reported little consideration given to their lifestyle/culture during consultations and inconsistent information, support services, continuity of care or access to clinical trials. They commented upon things health care professionals/friends and family did or said that were useful and cited other behaviours that were especially unhelpful.ConclusionsMBC exerted a deleterious impact upon patients’ activities of daily living which were exacerbated in part by significant gaps in support, communication and information.Implications for cancer survivorsLIMBER results are informing the content of educational materials currently being developed for patients’ formal and informal carers.

STRENGTHENING APPLIED ORIENTATION OF SCHOOL NATURAL EDUCATION BY MEANS OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES

The article reveals essence of the applied orientation of school education. Organizational and pedagogical conditions for the introduction of information and communication technologies in the practice of school work is determined. The application of such technologies in the educational process of the new Ukrainian school attaches special importance to the problem of strengthening the applied orientation of school natural education, development of computer-based ways of solving applied problems of industrial nature, filling the content of educational material with mathematical methods of displaying and processing information and reference support, etc. In order to visualize and define the system-creative relations of the concept of “applied orientation”, its structural and functional model which contains the main pedagogical objectives of school science education and possible ways to implement them is constructed. The pedagogical tasks reflect the goals of basic secondary education, as they present the main functions of the studied concept, determine its purpose and meaning of existence. Ways to implement the applied orientation are structural elements of the concept and reflect the actions and relationships in it.
 The main types of computer modeling used in IR support systems for teaching natural subjects, didactic possibilities of their use in teaching students of general secondary education are characterized. The analysis of interactive environments for solving applied problems using appropriate models is carried out. An algorithm for their design in various computer-aided design environments has been developed. Features of the formation of basic knowledge, practical skills in the use of measuring instruments, key competencies, cross-cutting skills and attitudes in computer-oriented environments are highlighted. In order to solve the tasks, the following methods and types of activities were used: the study of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical, scientific and methodological literature, advanced pedagogical experience, the content of curricula, programs, textbooks, didactic manuals for school science subjects and computer science, modeling of educational activities with the use of information and communication technologies, conversations, questionnaires, interviews and expert evaluation; experimental teaching using the developed system of tasks and diagnostics of student achievements; analysis of the results of educational activities using ICT; pedagogical experiment and statistical data processing.

UNIVERSAL EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL. EXHIBITION BY PER ISAK JUUSO FOR YOUTH AND CHILDREN

This article explores the strategies employed by educators at the Sámi Center for Contemporary Art in Karasjok, Norway, in the production of educational materials related to an exhibition by Sámi duodji artist Per Isak Juuso. The study examines the process of creating materials that are suitable for various age groups of children and youth, and applicable to both local Sámi and international visitors. The research question is: How can the content of educational material within an art exhibition be designed to appeal to diverse audiences of children and youth? The aim of the study is to identify what kind of educational material about Sámi art can be used by different age groups and backgrounds, including local Sámi and international visitors. This aim is achieved through the following objectives: the design of educational material, presentation of the material to various groups of youth and children and their educators, evaluation of feedback on the content of the developed material, and a comparison, through observation, of the quantity of material used during the exhibition. The results of the research provide recommendations for art institutions and museums on how to develop universal educational materials that are suitable for various groups of learners and can be adapted by teachers to different levels of understanding during conversations.

Russian Statehood as a Didactic Unit of the Educational and Methodological Complex “Foundations of the Russian Statehoodˮ

The article was written as part of a public discussion about the introduction of a new discipline “Fundamentals of Russian Statehoodˮ into professional educational programs of higher education. The subject of consideration is the Russian statehood as a system-forming didactic unit for constructing the content of educational material. The concept of “Russian statehoodˮ indicates a broad subject area of public relations, including both the system of relations of public power (the state at various stages of its development), and the supersystem of relations of public power with non-state forms of organizing the public life of ethnic groups (territorial community), – the supersystem, which forms the “contextˮ of development and sustainable functioning of the state. The general methodological basis of the findings is a systematic approach, the key theoretical and methodological concept is social (public) attitude.

Лабораторно-практические занятия по методике обучения литературе: моделирование уроков изучения художественного произведения с использованием элементов культурологического анализа

The aim of the study is to demonstrate the possibilities of laboratory and practical classes on methods of teaching literature by the example of class modelling for studying a literary work with the help of cultural analysis elements and forming the creative activity and professional competencies of the students – future teachers of literature. In the article the specificity of such laboratory and practical classes is described. Their didactic tasks, stages of preparation and implementation, criteria of students’ assessment are defined. The example of laboratory and practical class on class modelling of certain type (class of studying a literary work with the help of cultural analysis elements) is given. The scientific novelty consists in working out the methods of holding such classes to form creative activity and professional competencies of the students-teachers. The class scheme-model of studying a literary work with the help of cultural ana¬lysis elements on the material of M. A. Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita” has been developed and the realization of this scheme-model in a laboratory and practical class has been pre-sented. As a result, it has been proved that such type of classes contributes to future teachers’ initiative and development of creative approach, provides the future teachers’ independence in choosing the topic of a lesson, content of educational material, methods and techniques and has a positive influence on the further professional development of the future teachers of Russian language and literature.

PECULIARITIES OF TEACHING PATHOMORPHOLOGY AND SECTIONAL COURSE TO FOREIGN STUDENTS IN TERMS OF DISTANCE LEARNING

The technology of visualization of educational information is a system that includes a setof educational knowledge; visual ways of their presentation; visual and technical meansof information transmission; psychological methods of using and developing visualthinking in the learning process. The visualization technology displays key elements ofthe educational material content. Scribing methodologies (English «scribe» in the senseof «drive a pen»), the use of WebQuests when working with macro drugs in preparationfor the final module control № 2 in «Pathomorphology» and the use of mental maps haveproven themselves in terms of distance learning. The article evaluates questions about thepeculiarities of teaching the subject «Pathomorphology» and sectional course to foreignstudents in terms of distance learning and in the context of proper preparation for theUnified State Qualifying Exam Step-1, discusses effective practical training in general.The aim – to analyze the peculiarities of teaching the subject «Pathomorphology» andthe sectional course to foreign students in terms of distance learning and to determinefurther prospects.Conclusions. The use of modern teaching technologies can help to improve the processof learning material from disciplines, to increase the efficiency and quality of modernstudent learning. Skillfully used computer technology should help to develop a student’screativity, develop clinical thinking, and promote better memorization.

Efficient Questioning in Teaching Mathematics: Teachers’ Attitudes and Practices

The paper is an exposure to the latest practices of questioning in teaching and learning math (TLM) on the basis of psychological-semiotic approach. Emphasis is placed on the degree of semantic support of the expected answer when formulating educational questions. The paper explored: whether teachers are able to distinguish between types of questions and to use them in sync with didactic purpose; what types of questions teachers consider to be the most effective; what factors influence this process. To achieve these goals, survey-based research was conducted among 173 high school mathematics teachers across Ukraine. The research proved that, in their majority, teachers are able to correctly distinguish among the types of the questions offered. According to the teachers, questions with full semantic support for the answer are less useful in TLM. The study showed teachers’ lack of ability to identify the goals of the questions. There has been revealed a gap between the teachers’ attitude to the expedience of using questions with several possible answers and the practice of their implementation in TLM. The study yielded 35 variables characterizing the current status of the problem. They were optimized to 13 factors. It was stated that questioning should comply with the content of educational material, and the questions formulated with the use of topical vocabulary known to the students are viewed as most cost-effective. The research revealed the significant impact of the number of questions that teachers or students ask. The factor of primary importance appears to be that of time.

Education for Sustainable Development: Moral and Environmental Choice

The relevance of the article is due to the need to consider the issue of an environmentally-oriented moral position formation in students in assessing human behavior in the environment. The article points out the objective obstacles in the formation of the indicated skills in students in connection with the anthropo- and ecocentric attitudes of ecological consciousness that are adjacent in the content of modern education and mutually exclusive to each other, unreflected textbook authors and teachers. This has determined the purpose of the article, which is to update the problem of the formation of a conscious moral and ecological position among students in assessing human behavior in the environment and identifying the features of its formation by means of archetypally significant cultural concepts. The article puts forward a hypothesis and substantiates the need to develop in the younger generation the ability to give an environmentally oriented moral assessment of human behavior in terms of its impact on the environmental quality of the common environment for all, a conscious moral and environmental choice in situations containing an anthropo- or ecocentric context, on basis of national values, based on ethno-cultural archetypal cultural concepts. The main research methods are theoretical methods aimed at creating theoretical generalizations that allow revealing the essence of an environmentally-oriented moral choice and assessment, as well as the leading provisions of cultural and linguoculturological approaches. The ability to make a moral and ecological choice and its justification not only from the point of view of legal norms, but also from the position of the ecological imperative is considered as one of the central ones in education for sustainable development. It is assumed that taking into account the findings obtained as a result of the study will allow teachers to reconsider the issue of the content of educational materials from the point of view of the cultural patterns of behavior in the environment contained in them, based on the tasks of modern education in the formation of an ecological culture of youth.
