The annual sessions of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology, which gather outstanding experts in a three- or four-day symposium on a major area of ophthalmology, have resulted over the years in a dozen or more bound volumes. The present book is the tenth successive annual issue still available in print. Participants in the 1973 symposium on contact lenses gave 18 formal presentations in addition to taking part in five panel discussions (accessory contact lens solutions, hard contact lens-fitting techniques, complications of contact lenses, multifocal and aphakic contact lenses and therapeutic use of contact lenses), and a series of round-table discussions. Local moderators included Oliver H. Dabezies, who contributed a formal presentation on storage and asepsis of contact lenses, and four others.
