Gender Inequality in Latin America: A Multidimensional Analysis Based on ECLAC Indicators

This article analyzes the behavior of gender indicators on the economic, physical, and decision-making autonomy of Latin-American women, based on data compiled and published in 2020 by the Gender Equality Observatory of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), for 17 countries. Using the HJ-Biplot multivariate technique, it is concluded that the three evaluated areas interact with each other, in such a way that they cannot be interpreted in isolation because their relationships and interdependencies explain the differences in the participation of men and women in the socioeconomic and political environment of the nations in the region. Additionally, it is concluded that in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Bolivia, and Ecuador, greater public policy actions are required to seek the economic empowerment of women; while in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, laws are necessary to regulate violence against women. It is necessary to continue promoting gender equality in the region as a determinant factor in methodological frameworks and transformational policies to enable moving towards the construction of sustainable societies and economies.

Graphene Nanoarchitectonics: A New Material Horizon for Reinforcement of Sustainable Polymers

Using nanoscience to solve the issues that limit the development of sustainable society is one of the most important topics at present. Sustainable polymers play an important role in the construction of sustainable society, but its large-scale application is usually limited by the poor mechanical and shape-memory properties of the commonly-used epoxy resin. The utilization of nanoarchitectures to improve the shape memory performance of composite materials is an effective approach. Graphene, amongst the used reinforcement materials for epoxy resin, is undoubtedly the most fascinating example. In this paper, the shape memory and mechanical properties of graphene-modified epoxy resins are described respectively for different response types. In this mini review we present an overview on the research results of graphene nanoarchitectonics in modification of shape memory epoxy resin composites. Besides, this paper has reviewed the properties of different types of graphene/epoxy composites, which looking forward to the development of graphene/epoxy composites and future prospects.

Building Sustainable Communities in China - Status and Outlook

Due to rapid urbanization process and fast urbanization rate, China will consume a large amount of embodied energy accompanied with carbon emissions in the next decades. As the basic society unit and the city epitome, sustainability development of the community is essential for construction of sustainable society and acceleration of prosperous economy. In the present paper, low carbon technologies, strategies and energy-related lifestyles concerned with sustainability development of the community have been briefly introduced. Typical practices, characteristics and measures of some sustainable communities in China have been reviewed. Existing evaluation tools and indicators at community level have been analyzed for the evaluation, implementation and standardization of sustainable communities. In the end, some suggestions have been proposed to promote the large-scale demonstration of sustainable communities in the future.

Motivation for Career in Teenagers

Career motivation is an important field of study in the construction of sustainable society. Identify and develop intimate mechanisms that shape career choices by teenagers becomes a strong indicator of how society as a whole proves its effectiveness. Given crossing a prolonged crisis which calls into question the dominant social structural elements, unclear coherent and consistent process of career management in adolescents can lead to premature exhaustion of their involvement in learned helplessness phenomena, ambiguity and professional failure. There is also the risk of not achieving career maturation phenomenon which can lead to phenomena misfit search and permanent redefinition of the role of teenager – now reached adult – in social landscape. The paper aims to analyze and define the phenomenon of career choice motivation to intrinsic- extrinsic dimension (the intrinsic dimension by reference to the orientation towards reality and the need to experience stimulation, and matters extrinsic referring to extrinsic motivation identified, etc). This can provide an appropriate response, reported on the career management paradigm in this age group.
