This paper takes the environmental design major in colleges and universities as the research object, and analyzes the teaching status quo of the environmental design major in colleges and universities in China, and finds that there are problems such as the curriculum is out of line with the social demand, the practical teaching resources are insufficient, the structure of the teaching staff is unreasonable, and the students' innovation ability is insufficient, and so on. Aiming at these problems, this paper puts forward a series of countermeasures and suggestions, including optimizing the curriculum and teaching content, strengthening the construction of practical teaching system, improving the overall level of the teaching staff, and stimulating students' innovative potential and practical ability. The results of the study have certain theoretical reference value for promoting the reform and development of environmental design professional education in colleges and universities in China.
