A thin simplified cloak is proposed with constitutive tensors $$\epsilon $$ (or μ) which are spatially variant along the radial and angular directions, and invariant along the axial direction. The proposed simplified material properties $$\epsilon $$ (or μ) are free of infinity value at inner boundary and also, the cloak is perfectly impedance matched with the free space at the outer boundary. The practical realization of proposed simplified media is possible with two-dimensional metamaterials. The dynamic range of each of the spatially variant simplified constitutive tensor is reduced in contrast to the earlier reported cloak. Numerical results also confirm that the cloaking performance remains good for proposed thin cloak even with small dynamic range of material properties.
