The article is devoted to the constitutional and legal study of the influence of the state language when it is applied in the field of education of Ukraine on the formation of constitutional identity. The relevance of the study is due, among other things, to the unconditional influence of the Ukrainian language in its constitutional and legal status as the state language on the formation of national identity and on the issue of the Ukrainian national idea. In the course of the study, it was determined that constitutional identity is built on the basis of national, ethnic, linguistic and educational identity. The path of the transformation of the phenomenon of identity from a social to a legal category, which is accompanied by the direct influence of the social, economic and political situation in the state, is also clarified. The concept of «constitutional moment» is identified and characterized as a basic historical and legal event that influenced the selection of the legal phenomenon of the state language as a factor influencing the formation of constitutional identity, as well as the filling of the state language with axiological potential, which, among other things, gives grounds to classify it as “ eternal constitutional provisions”. In addition, the author draws attention to the valuable influence of the Ukrainian language, which in the future can become the basis for the development of new theoretical approaches to clarifying the significance of the state language as a constitutional value. The obtained research results confirm, in addition to another thesis, that the sociocultural phenomenon of identity through transformation and integration into the legal sphere becomes an environment of interaction between the language of the titular ethnos (the state language) and the national constitutional order, thus forming a unique and special model of constitutional identity, which is revealed in the relevant constitutional and legal provisions, which directly affects the regulation of language relations in the sphere of education of Ukraine.
