Reform Practice of College Students’ Employment Guidance Course under the Concept of Curriculum Ideology and Politics

Under the background of “fostering character and civic virtue,” higher education must effectively integrate ideological and political education. The concept of curriculum ideology and politics has become increasingly developed and sophisticated, which can be a guiding concept for the teaching and reform practice of college students’ employment guidance courses. Based on educational observation and logical analysis, this paper elaborates on the connotation of the concept of curriculum ideology and politics, analyzes the key points of the reform of college students’ employment guidance courses under this concept, and affirms the value of course reform. On this basis, this paper specifically analyzes the common problems in the reform of the employment guidance course under the new concept and makes a detailed interpretation of the performance problems such as the vague course objectives and the lack of innovation in the course teaching methods. Combined with the relevant problems, this paper proposes strategies such as building the course objective system by linking the curriculum ideology and politics, and driving the teaching innovation of the course from multiple perspectives, aiming to provide more references for the corresponding course reform.

“Groups Are Still a Problem … but a Different One!”: Reflecting on the Role Played by Non-Violent Extremist Groups in the Radicalisation Pathways of Individuals in the UK

Non-violent (vocal) extremists are at the centre of inflamed debates in the UK as they use their freedom of speech to legally oppose key democratic values and national authorities while targeting specific groups in the society as alleged enemies. This paper aims to explore the radicalisation pathways of individuals in the UK who hold radical and extreme ideas but who have not (yet) committed any offence. More precisely, this paper aims to uncover the role (if any) played by non-violent extremist groups in pathways to radicalisation. To do so, this paper focuses on people supported by the Channel programme, the main early de-radicalisation programme within the Prevent Scheme. This paper innovatively uses first-hand data reflecting the views of Channel practitioners on radicalisation pathways. This study concludes that non-violent extremist groups (as structures) still play a role in familiarising/acculturating individuals with specific ideological concepts. However, the processes of identity building and resource mobilisation seem to be strongly agent-led when observing Channel population in the UK.

К ВОПРОСУ О ПРОФИЛАКТИКЕ РАСПРОСТРАНЕНИЯ ДЕСТРУКТИВНОЙ ИДЕОЛОГИИ, ПОСЯГАЮЩЕЙ НА ТРАДИЦИОННЫЕ РОССИЙСКИЕ ДУХОВНО-НРАВСТВЕННЫЕ ЦЕННОСТИ

The article provides a brief analysis of the concept of ideology, destructive ideology, including the ideology of extremism. The opinions of Russian scientists, including the author's, on the role of the Internet in spreading destructive ideology are presented, including certain ways to combat the ideol-ogy of extremism through virtual space. The risks contributing to the spread of destructive ideology both from outside and inside the state are identified. The most priority goals and objectives on the part of the state have been identified, correcting the policy of countering extremism in connection with the tragic events at Crocus City Hall, as well as during the Special Military Operation.

Constitution of the "Kolo" Ensemble and Choreography of Traditional Dance – Anthropological Interpretation and Socio-Political Context

The Ensemble of Folk Dances and Songs of Serbia "Kolo" was founded in 1948 in Belgrade, on the initiative of the Committee for Culture and Art of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. The task of the Ensemble was to artistically interpret and present the so-called folk artistic creativity, which predominantly encompassed various folklore creations of the rural population, on stage, in the country and abroad. Although seemingly simple and folk-oriented, the art of traditional dance choreography has clear ideological and politically important messages of the then state leadership embedded in it foundations, intended to be spread among the Yugoslavs, but also beyond the state borders. The ensemble was supposed to present a desirable and appropriate image of Yugoslavia in its performances. The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the formation of the “Kolo” Ensemble and the process of constituting the art of traditional dance choreography, taking into account the socio-political and historical context of the Second Yugoslavia. In addition, the paper approaches the deconstruction of the intention of choreographers and artistic directors, in order to reveal the ideological messages embedded in the artistic expression. The basic assumption in this paper is that dance troupes and traditional dance choreographies are strongly connected to the ideology and cultural policy of the nation-state. In this regard, even when choreographers and artistic directors create programs without direct political-ideological objectives, their decisions always rely on the socio-political context and the dominant ideologies within the state. The theoretical framework of the work is based on contemporary anthropological discussions about the concepts crucial for the interpretation of the material, primarily referring to the concept of ideology, understood in the Althusserian sense, but also to the ideas of the combination of state ideology, cultural policy, and dance with the aim of presenting the dance troupe with a desirable image of the nation-state. The methodology of the work consists of a combination of two approaches: classical anthropological, qualitative and archival research. Qualitative research includes conducted in-depth semi-structured interviews with 15 dancers who worked in "Kolo" in different time contexts, while archival research included reviewing the documentation of the "Kolo" Ensemble, the Archives of Yugoslavia and the personal and family archives of the dancers.

Dissecting Putin’s regime ideology

ABSTRACT Does the Putin regime have an ideology? This question has attracted renewed attention since Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Some scholars claim that the war is directly linked to the Putin regime’s ideological aspirations to restore Russia’s greatness and challenge the West internationally, while others argue that contemporary regimes in the “Putinist mold” have limited need for ideology and use wars instrumentally for survival purposes rather than messianic aspirations. In this paper we will, first, review arguments pro and contra ideology under the Putin regime and identify existing gaps in such literature: definitional ambiguity, conflation of concepts of totalitarianism and ideology, overfocusing on ideal types of ideology, and so forth. Second, we will offer operationalizable metrics against which the ideology is measured: coherence of ideological repertoire, temporal consistency, elite commitment, codification, indoctrination, internalization, and futuristic vision. This paper finds that the current Putin regime checks most of the ideological boxes (even if it has not necessarily always been the case historically). Lastly, we will conclude by discussing the implications of our findings to the analysis of contemporary autocracies.

THE EFFECT OF USING HEYDAR ALIYEV'S HERITAGE IN THE TRAINING PROCESS ON THE COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS

A wide network of pre-school, general, vocational, secondary and higher education institutions operating in our state today, and a powerful scientific and pedagogical staff potential have their core from the purposeful policy on education carried out under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev in the 70s of the last century, and the comprehensive educational creativity that will be carried out in the future has created a strong foundation of progress. At that time, full-time educational institutions in Azerbaijan rose to the level of modern development compared to previous years, and the consistent national policy implemented in this direction played a special role in raising the educational, general cultural and intellectual level. The life and political active activity of Heydar Aliyev is the founder of the modern history of the Azerbaijani nation, the creator of the free Azerbaijan state and statehood in every citizen of Azerbaijan. It evokes a sense of pride. The life of the national leader, full of struggles, is a living chronicle of a special period, an epoch, which he dedicated to his native nation. For the first time in the history of the Azerbaijani nation, Heydar Aliyev put forward the idea of creating the concept of national ideology, gave recommendations on the work to be done in this field, the areas of application of these works, means and opportunities. The leader attaches special importance to the promotion of the subjects of the Azerbaijani language and Azerbaijani history, religious viewpoints, traditions, and our statehood meetings, and highly valued the work and role of teachers, whom he especially respected, in creating, organizing, and implementing this ideology.

Ideological Constitutionalism

A renewed interest in the concept of ideology is evident in recent constitutional theory. Ideology has featured prominently not only in restatements of traditional Marxist positions and attempted retrievals of the material conception of the constitution, but also in democratic critiques of liberal constitutionalism and theories of constitutional identity. The intention of this article is twofold. Firstly, the article defends the explanatory power of a conception of constitutional ideology that is centred on political domination and the ‘universalisation’ of contingent power relations, rather than more diffuse notions like the symbolic construction of reality or worldviews. Secondly, the article considers distinctive ideological dimensions of modern constitutionalism. An analysis of these dimensions, I contend, confirms modern constitutionalism's strong ideological ‘potential’.

Research on the Practice Path of Public Physical Education Courses in Private Universities under the Concept of Ideological and Political Education in the New Era Curriculum

With the continuous improvement of China’s education system, private higher education has also entered a period of rapid development. The number and quality of private universities are significantly increasing. This article explores the development of physical education in private universities against the background of their rapid development. This article first explores the policy documents of physical education in universities, analyzes the key points of public physical education curriculum reform in universities, and finally analyzes the effective paths of physical education curriculum reform in universities. It is hoped that through text analysis and research, some reference can be provided for the reform of public physical education curriculum in private universities under the new era of curriculum ideological and political concepts.

Analysis of the Ideological and Political Concepts and Teaching Strategies for Quality Improvement in Physical Education Courses in Colleges and Universities

In this paper, we will discuss the connotation of the concept of ideology and politics in college physical education courses, analyze the methods to effectively integrate the ideology and politics elements while guaranteeing the quality of teaching, and put forward the corresponding strategies to improve the quality, with a view to providing new ideas and methods for the construction of ideology and politics in college physical education courses.

The Influence of Role-Play Activity in Improving English Learner’s Communicative Skills

Under the influence of traditional English teaching, coupled with the constraints of ideological concepts, geographic environment and economic conditions, teachers and students in junior and senior high schools only pay attention to the learning of English vocabulary, grammar and sentence patterns, neglecting the ability to listen and speaking in English, which leads to the fact that students are afraid to open their mouths to speak English, and such a form of education creates a significant obstacle to the student's English learning. With the introduction of the new standard, cultivating students' communicative ability and focusing on their overall development have become the general objectives of the English curriculum, and cultivating students' oral expression ability and verbal communication abilities are the primary tasks of English teaching.

Joel Barlow in Denmark: American Republicanism and the Republic of Translations in Continental Europe in the Revolutionary 1790s

ABSTRACT Through a case study of the Danish and German translations of the American revolutionary Joel Barlow's 'Advice to the Privileged Orders of Europe' (1792), this article explores the role of translations and the example of the American Revolution in forming ideas of republicanism in the Age of Revolutions. While it is today a little-known text, the article shows that Barlow's Advice had a significant impact on the formation of revolutionary ideology in the Northern Germany and Denmark. The article furthermore argues that contrary to what historians have hitherto believed, republicanism did make its way into Denmark in the period. Here, the article shows, it influenced the political ideas of key intellectuals such as Christen Henriksen Pram, August Hennings, and C.U.D. von Eggers. Because censorship made it difficult to express republican ideas, studying translations may give us a fuller and more precise picture of political ideas in the Age of Revolutions including in places like Denmark. The article thus argues that Barlow and his text was part of a broader ‘republic of translations,’ which was transformed in the wake of the American and French Revolutions and through which spread republicanism across the world, including Northern Europe.

The Saudi-Iranian Rapprochement and Its Reflection on the Arab Region

The protracted geopolitical rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran has been one of the major shaping factors in Middle Eastern dynamics for decades. However, signs of a potential improvement in diplomatic and political relationships between the two powers have raised hopes that the regional situation could change. This study will provide a detailed analysis of the ongoing Saudi-Iranian rapprochement and its implications for the Yemeni crisis, the Syrian conflict, the Palestinian cause, economic trade, security cooperation, and diplomatic ties. In examining these critical aspects, the research will develop the current understanding of the impact of the new deal between Riyadh and Tehran on the Middle East. One of the longest-standing rivalries across the Middle East has finally taken a first albeit inadequate to address two main foreign policy tenets of both Saudi Arabia and Iran. The Saudi-Iranian deal acknowledges the principles of “sovereignty of states” and “non-interference in internal affairs.” Over decades, their competition had a significant footprint in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, and Yemen. In these states, the foreign policy struggle of Riyadh and Tehran overlapped with the powerful and complex domestic counterparts. Internally, their fight took on ethnic, tribal, religious, sectarian, political, and ideological forms.

The changing dynamics of Indian nationalism in contemporary Hindi movies

ABSTRACT Nationalism, an ideological concept that people of shared national identity adopt, is one of the most explored genres of the Hindi film industry. The theme of nationalism which once demanded a sacred and elevated treatment from cinema-makers has faced a comparatively light-hearted, ordinary, and relatable approach in contemporary times. Rather than confining the notion of nationalism within the nation's territory, such new-age movies depict how exiles and immigrants redefine the notion of nationalism. Replacing the exaggerated, parochial, and exclusive depictions of hyper-nationalism in early Hindi war movies with what Benedict Anderson calls ‘long-distance nationalism’, contemporary movies have the potential to expand the idea of the nation beyond its borders. Two such movies that depict characters redefining the notion of nationalism through their acts of transnationalism are Meghna Gulzar's Raazi and Raja Krishna Menon’s Airlift. Both the films refrain from engaging in the classical discourse of nationalism to reveal how dispersed immigrants contribute to the spirit of Indian nationalism through their acts of political participation.

Can We Design Spontaneity? Hayek, Design, and the Normative Appeal of Spontaneous Orders

Spontaneous orders are an essential concept in political theory and political economy. Such orders entail the impossibility of predicting outcomes in detail and hence controlling and directing social processes. Many phenomena characterizing contemporary societies can be depicted as spontaneous orders, from the housing and financial markets to the evolution of norms and trends. Yet, it is well known that not every spontaneous order is beneficial. Therefore, what form of political framework is compatible with recognizing such orders? In this article, I address this problem through the example of the work of Friedrich Hayek, a prominent liberal theorist of spontaneous orders. His work shows the necessity to theorize a government of spontaneous orders based on maximizing reasonable expectations and individual freedom. I finally emphasize what such a theory implies for political power, which is not abolished but should handle complexity appropriately.

Khe Sanh and Jung

Abstract This paper looks at the 2015 use of the Australian rock song Khe Sanh by far-right nationalist group Reclaim Australia and how it points to deeper archetypal dynamics at play, which are driving the appearance and behaviour of groups like this. Drawing from the work of Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, I treat the song as an expression of the archetype of the fallen hero, who confronts darkness but cannot reintegrate back into the social world and, instead, remains fallen. As I discuss, this song resonates deeply with Reclaim Australia members because it reflects their own ideological conceptions of their place in the changing Australian nation. I use a Jungian archetypal approach because it allows us to explore the underlying psychic structure and instinctive patterns that drive the behaviour of groups like this. Where other approaches may simply focus on the behaviour, an archetypal approach goes much deeper, addressing the root of the behaviour.

Exploring Pluriverse: A Decolonial Examination of the Pakistan Independence Movement through Hamza Alavi’s Works

This study offers a decolonial study of Hamza Alavi’s discernment on the Pakistan independence movement in the theoretical framework of decoloniality by Walter Mignolo. It endeavors to unearth indigenous intellection of the post-colonial Pakistan that confronts the hegemonic knowledge claims that tends to essentialize the Pakistan independence movement. This research intends to explore the ductile pluriversality of narratives and border thinking versus the inflexible concept of a single ideology based on religion as the driving force of the Pakistan independence movement. The significance of this study lies in bringing forward literary decoloniality by promoting critical thinking from post-colonial Pakistan. Mignolo’s concepts of pluriversality and border thinking provide a theoretical lens through which to interpret Alavi's notion of Pakistan's independence movement in the contemporary era. By deploying an interdisciplinary approach encompassing perspectives from politics, history, and cultural studies, this research explores deeper, covert layers of multifarious factors that accelerated the partition of the subcontinent, leading to Pakistan's independence.

АКСИОЛОГИЧЕСКИЙ АСПЕКТ СОВРЕМЕННОЙ ИДЕОЛОГИИ РОССИИ

Ideology, as an expression of a certain worldview, is the spiritual core of the strategic state development, defining the goals and objectives of its ex-istence. As there is no person without a certain worldview, there is no state without ideology. Despite the fact that ideological diversity and absence of state or compulsory ideology have been declared in modern Russia, liberal hu-manistic ideas as a superstructure of the capitalist socio-economic system abso-lutely dominate in Russia in reality. The article identifies four basic ideological systems and shows that any complements from traditional socialist or spiritual and moral ideas to the ideological core of liberal humanistic ideology are not really effective and palliative in nature. Therefore, current confrontation with the West is an opportunity to transit to the intercivilizational conflict, during which new socio-economic and political development mechanisms and corre-sponding ideological conceptions of spiritual development of the personality will be formed, opposing the liberal conceptions of consumerism, individual-ism and competition.

Non-green ecological conservation: right-wing ecology in contemporary Germany

ABSTRACT After the rise and mainstreaming of the modern ecological movement, the right-wing ecological ideology has not gradually died out, and right-wing ecologists are still very active today. They not only actively participate in ecological debates and activities, but also combine their ideological concepts with practice, and focus on right-wing land grabbing in rural areas. As ecological issues tend to blur the boundaries between political camps, right-wing ecological conservation in ‘green’ garb is extremely misleading and harmful, and therefore needs to be studied in depth. Firstly, this article analyses the ideological basis of right-wing ecology in contemporary Germany from three aspects: historical view, human view and worldview. Secondly, by analyzing the basic positions of right-wing ecologists in the three main fields of ecological conservation, namely species protection, animal protection, green genetic engineering and organic agriculture, and their specific modes of action, this article identifies the motives of the right-wing ecologists’ participation in ecological conservation in terms of historical reasons and practical needs, and analyses the characteristics of their argumentation. Finally, on the basis of the above research, this article specifies the essential differences between right-wing ecological conservation and modern, civilized and scientific ecological conservation and its harms.

Saudi Arabia and daʿwa Mission: The Role of Muslim World League and Islamic University of Medina in Spreading Wahhabi-Salafi Doctrine in the 1960s.

Starting from the 1960s, Saudi Arabia began an international daʿwa campaign with the aim of positioning itself as the representative of the international Muslim community and spreading its religious beliefs, identified in the Wahhabi-Salafi doctrine. At the head of the process, controlling the whole system, there were two institutions, the Muslim World League (Rābiṭa al-ʿālam al-islāmī) and the Islamic University of Medina (al-jamiʿa al-islamiyya al-Madīna al-munawwara). Focusing on the socio-political and ethical-academic aspects, MWL and IUM tried to exercise their influence over the umma by controlling Islamic institutional, religious, and youth centres globally, and taking care of the ideological formation by managing educational centres, school, and universities; most of the scholars formed in Medina – both professors and students - held positions of high relevance in some MWL-circuit organizations established in different countries, with the aim of disseminating the teachings and playing an active geopolitical role. MWL and IUM represented the primary tools for religious propaganda and worked towards creating an international network that directly or indirectly served the Saudi agenda.
