Activities of Students During Learning Process in Mobile Learning Based on Android Package Kit

The current outbreak of COVID-19 has affected lives including closure of educational institutions. Based on Android Package Kit (APK), developed by authors, a learning multimedia-interactive can be accessed as a whole learning activity by the students, including the worksheet. The instrument used to collect data in this study is a worksheet that is integrated in the APK This worksheet is used to monitor students involvement and comprehension during mobile learning process. Students’ engagement of learning process on sound waves topic is measured manually based on the analysis of their written answers against the worksheet. In this study, 12 boys and 23 girls student of class XI answered the questions in worksheet to exceed passing score in sound waves concept during learning process. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning by using worksheets integrated into an APK can attract students’ interest to access it and increase student involvement in the learning process.

Photothermal defect imaging in hybrid fiber metal laminates using the virtual wave concept

This study presents photothermal imaging results of subsurface material defects within fiber metal laminates utilizing the virtual wave concept. Therefore, we theoretically analyze the propagation of the virtual wave signal in a hybrid composite laminate via the method of images. For provoking local material damage, the hybrid composite sample is subjected to a defined impact loading. The results obtained from photothermal defect imaging, utilizing rectangular laser pulse excitation, are compared with results obtained from 3D x-ray computed tomography. To sum up, we demonstrate a fast, non-invasive, and easily interpretable reconstruction of defects within macroscopic hybrid composite laminates based on the virtual wave concept.

Surface Acoustic Waves (SAW) Sensors: Tone-Burst Sensing for Lab-on-a-Chip Devices.

The article presents the design concept of a surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based lab-on-a-chip sensor with multifrequency and multidirectional sensitivity. The conventional SAW sensors use delay lines that suffer from multiple signal losses such as insertion, reflection, transmission losses, etc. Most delay lines are designed to transmit and receive continuous signal at a fixed frequency. Thus, the delay lines are limited to only a few features, like frequency shift and change in wave velocity, during the signal analysis. These facts lead to limited sensitivity and a lack of opportunity to utilize the multi-directional variability of the sensing platform at different frequencies. Motivated by these facts, a guided wave sensing platform that utilizes simultaneous tone burst-based excitation in multiple directions is proposed in this article. The design incorporates a five-count tone burst signal for the omnidirectional actuation. This helps the acquisition of sensitive long part of the coda wave (CW) signals from multiple directions, which is hypothesized to enhance sensitivity through improved signal analysis. In this article, the design methodology and implementation of unique tone burst interdigitated electrodes (TB-IDT) are presented. Sensing using TB-IDT enables accessing multiple frequencies simultaneously. This results in a wider frequency spectrum and allows better scope for the detection of different target analytes. The novel design process utilized guided wave analysis of the substrate, and selective directional focused interdigitated electrodes (F-IDT) were implemented. The article demonstrates computational simulation along with experimental results with validation of multifrequency and multidirectional sensing capability.

Online physics laboratory course: United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework perspective from Walailak University, Thailand

This paper describes a case study of an online physics laboratory course implemented for 254 engineering students at Walailak University in Thailand in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The laboratory sequence was designed based on the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework and covered eight experiments on fundamental concepts of motion, electricity, waves, and fluid mechanics. The experiments were conducted at students' homes using physics education technology simulations, Tracker for video analysis, smartphones, and home-based apparatuses. During the experiments, students shared their progress with classmates and lecturers through screen sharing, which facilitated exchanges of ideas and difficulties. The paper discusses the successful implementation of the online laboratory course and the challenges encountered, such as student engagement, resource limitations, and practical skill development. The insights gained from this case study may be useful for online laboratory education beyond the pandemic.

CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF HYPERCONTRACTILE WAVES VIGOR TO DEFINE HYPERCONTRACTILE ESOPHAGUS DISEASE.

The current definition for hypercontractile esophagus was arbitrarily set at the uppermost range in volunteers for a specific equipment. This study aims to critically analyze the concept of hypercontractile waves to redefine hypercontractile esophagus parameters. We reviewed 500 unselected and consecutive HRM tests (5000 waves) performed in a water -perfused system. Mean distal contractility integral (DCI) was 825±1492 (0-42775) mmHg.cm.s, two standard deviations above average = 3810; 95th percentile = 2798 mmHg.cm.s. In healthy volunteers, two standard deviations above average is 4000 mmHg.cm.s, we thus suggest this value to define hypercontractile waves and define hypercontractile esophagus in a water-perfused HRM system.

Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Fisika Berbantuan 3D Application Scratch Pada Topik Getaran Dan Gelombang Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik

Physics is often considered a less desirable subject due to the complexity of the learning faced by students. The use of physics learning media is very important in the teaching process to attract students' interest. The use of 3D Scratch applications can help in making learning media, such as vibration and wave simulations using balls. By utilizing Scratch, physics material that is abstract can be explained more easily and interestingly for students. This research focuses on the development of scratch-based physics learning media, especially on the topic of vibrations and waves, with the aim of improving student learning outcomes. The research method used is the 4D development model, involving the defining, planning, developing, and disseminating stages. Evaluation was conducted using the SBi method by converting ordinal data to intervals using MSi analysis. The results showed that the learning media created can be categorized as feasible. Thus, this learning medium can be effectively used in physics learning activities, helping students understand the concepts of vibration and waves.

Physics Micro Learning Video: Forming Pancasila Learner Profiles in Physics Learning

Pancasila learner profiles can be implemented in physics learning. This article publishes the results of research and development of physics learning videos. This physics learning video presents physics lessons that shape the Pancasila learner profile. Physics content is a wave that is presented contextually. This learning physics video use research and development of the Lee & Owens model. Product feasibility was assessed using a questionnaire by experts. The components assessed are the feasibility of the physics content, the feasibility of the learning process, the feasibility of the wave concept physics learning media in -learning videos. Sequentially get an assessment of 93.75%, 98.0%, 99.0%. The The implementation of the learning process on learning video products has facilitated the formation of Pancasila learner profiles. Overall, it can be concluded that the resulting physics learning video is very appropriate to be used to form a profile of Pancasila students.

Analysis of the Use of Optical Waves in the World of Health: Literature Study

Waves are vibrations that propagate at any time. Waves are divided into two, namely mechanical waves and electromagnetic waves. In the world of health, what we often encounter are tools whose use is accompanied by one of the physics concepts, namely optical waves. Optical waves in the world of health are very important to apply because they are the basis for learning in health science or in the sense that the concepts that are developed in health science use the concept of optical waves. Optical waves are known as electromagnetic waves, because these waves describe visible light rays, infrared, and ultraviolet rays, so these rays are used as materials for the use of optical instruments. There are many kinds of optical instruments, including loupes which are used to magnify small things, microscopes as a tool to see objects that are far away with the sense of sight, binoculars as a tool to see the distance of objects that are far from the surface of the earth, and the eye as a tool for our vision. Then scientists applied the wave concept with optical tools to serve as a reference in the world of health. Waves according to Prof. Yohanes Surya, Ph. in the title of the book Vibrations and Waves (2019), propagating vibrations produce energy and move at a certain speed, and do not drag the material they pass through. The use of optical waves is widely applied in medical science, including X-rays as a detector for internal body elements to clarify broken parts such as bones or other things. From the explanation above, it can be concluded that waves are the basis in the world of health, which are of course used in optical equipment, and are a reference for the health team and as a basic concept in physics learning. This underlies the fact that optical waves are not only used in the world of education but are very It is also needed in the world of health.

STEAM Approach to Students' Critical Thinking Ability on the Concept of Sound Waves for Developing PBL Model Learning Tools

One learning model that supports improving critical thinking skills and developing 21st century education is the PBL model. This research aims to describe the quality of the STEAM approach-based PBL model learning tools development for Students' Critical Thinking Ability on the concept of sound wave using the ADDIE development model. The results of the validation carried out by three validators obtained an average percentage for the learning implementation plan of 93.08%, student activity sheets of 92.58%, teaching materials of 90.82%, and critical thinking tests of 92.72%, and all included in the very valid criteria. The practicality of learning tools is seen from learning implementation of 90.72% with excellent criteria, the student's response to the learning tools was very positive with the ease aspect percentage of students' responses was 86.67%, the enthusiasm aspect percentage of 93.33%, the motivated aspect percentage of 86.67% and the involvement aspect percentage of 83.33%. The effectiveness of learning tools in student activity of 91.67% with excellent criteria, the results of the critical thinking test increased by 49.00%, from previously the overall average score of students was 30.33% to 79.33% and the effectiveness category through the N-Gain test was 0.71 with high criteria

Development of Knowledge Enrichment Digital Book of Tectonic Earthquake

This research aims to develop a digital knowledge enrichment book about tectonic earthquakes. Useful for study concepts of waves, elasticity, and Hooke's law. This research method uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The validation scores of material experts, learning experts and media experts are in the high category. This digital book has been tested on 49 physics students at San Pedro University, Kupang, Indonesia, and the results are positive. All respondents can enjoy reading this book, increasing their knowledge, and the contents of the book can be understood easily. The test results for this book received a very good assessment in the media aspect, formulating the main problem, revealing facts, choosing arguments logically, and detecting information bias in the book. All respondents were able to draw conclusions from the book and the book was not boring. So, this book can be used as an effective learning resource.

Improve critical thinking skills using traditional musical instruments in science learning

Experiment activity is an essential part of science learning. <em>Suling </em>(flute), a traditional musical instrument from West Java, can be used as a learning media for sound wave concepts. Technology-based mobile can be used as an experimental tool is <em>Phypox</em>. This study aims to report using a combination of <em>Suling</em> and <em>Phypox</em> in experiment activities. The designed activity aims to engage students in critical thinking. The instrument for measuring critical thinking consists of five questions based on the critical thinking aspect: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. The study used a one-group pre-and post-test design on 32 8th-grade students at one of the junior high schools in West Java Province, Indonesia. The study procedure is a pre-test, discussion of <em>Suling</em>’s concepts, introduction to <em>Phypox</em> application, experiment activity, presentation, and post-test. Data analysis uses the normalized gain to compare the pre-and post-test. Experiment activities help students to understand frequency, open organ pipes concepts, and investigate the speed of sound produced by <em>Suling</em>. The study found a significant change in the pre-and post-test scores of students after experimenting, so it could be interpreted that the experimental activities using <em>Suling</em> and <em>Phypox</em> affected critical-thinking students.

Reducing Misconceptions on the Concept of Vibration and Waves with CCM CCA to Improve Creative Thinking Skills

Education in the 21st century currently requires students to improve higher-order thinking skills (Higher Other Thinking Skills), one of which is creative thinking skills. A good conceptual understanding will support higher-order thinking skills, especially creative thinking skills. This study aims to reduce students' misconceptions about the concept of vibration and waves with CCM CCA and to improve students' creative thinking skills. Subjects in this case amounted to 29 students. Students' creative thinking skills are measured from the results of tests carried out 2 times, namely in the form of an initial test (pretest) and a final test (posttest) which refer to indicators of students' creative thinking skills. Items in both tests are equipped with response answers (reasons for answering questions) and all test items are equipped with several answer choices that indicate the level of certainty of answer responses. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative. The results of the study show that the CCM CCA learning model can reduce students' misconceptions about vibration and wave concepts and improve their creative thinking skills.

CoSiReT: Innovation of ReT (Refutation Texts) to Reduce Students' Misconceptions Concerning Transverse Waves

The research goal was to develop innovative learning media on refutation texts (ReT), scilicet integrating Computer Simulations on Refutation Texts (CoSiReT). CoSiReT's role is to reduce students' misconceptions concerning the basic concept of transverse waves. This research design used 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Participants include 64 students aged 16-18 years in the Tuban region, East Java, Indonesia (37 male were called Mas, and 27 female were called Mbak). The research instrument used a media validation sheet (15 assessment indicators). The pre-post test instrument used the Multi-representation of a Four-tier Instrument on Transverse Wave (MOFI-OTW). Analysis of data validation results was using a rater test assisted by Rasch's Mini-Facets software. According to the seven validators, the results of CoSiReT fulfill aspects of instructions for use, language, content presentation, and appearance. The percentage of students' misconception reduction was analyzed using the Reduction Misconceptions (RM) adapted from Hake's n-gain equation. Overall, the reduction of misconceptions is in the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that CoSiReT can be developed and used a role in reducing student misconceptions. Researchers or practitioners are expected to implement CoSiReT as a learning innovation that aims to reduce basic misconceptions of transverse waves.

Supporting Students’ Problem Solving Skills Using Science, Technology, Religion, Art, and Mathematics (STREAM) Approach on Sound Wave Concept

This study aims to investigate the effect of using science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and mathematics (STREAM) approach on students' problem-solving skills. The study was carried out in physics subjects, especially sound waves. Sixty high school students from one of the senior high schools in Tangerang Province, Indonesia, were divided into two groups to participate in a quasi-experimental study. Each group completed a particular learning sequence in sound wave topics where students in the experimental class carried out learning with the STREAM approach by following the engineering design process while students in the control class used conventional learning. Students' problem-solving skills were measured by eight essay questions. The study revealed that the STREAM approach had a significant effect on students' problem-solving skills (p<0.05). Students' problem-solving skill score in the experimental class was higher than the students' score in the control class. In addition, based on the comparison of the N-Gain values, the increase in the problem-solving skills of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. The researchers conclude that STREAM is an effective teaching approach that science teachers might also incorporate in their classrooms.

One-dimensional photothermal characterization of subsurface interfaces utilizing the virtual wave concept

This work presents one-dimensional photothermal results for estimating subsurface interface parameters using the virtual wave concept. The performed study demonstrates the capability of the virtual wave concept as a feature extraction method for estimating the depth position and thermal mismatch of subsurface interfaces within layered materials. The mathematical relationship between the reflection coefficient of the thermal wave and the signal of the virtual wave is demonstrated for exact one-dimensional solutions. For experimental validation, pulsed thermography in the pulse-echo configuration for different metallic specimens is applied. This method yields a very good estimation of the interfacial parameters for the analyzed samples. In summary, a feasible and fast one-dimensional photothermal evaluation of subsurface interfaces using the virtual wave concept is demonstrated.

Revolutionizing Physics Education: Enhancing High School Students' Understanding of Standing Wave Concepts through Mictester-Based Smartphone Experiments

The study aims to test the effectiveness of using the audio analysis software, Mictester, on smartphones in experiments on standing waves in order to improve students' understanding of concepts in high school. The sample consisted of 19 students of 11th grade at State High School 1 SoE. The instrument used was a test sheet of conceptual understanding of standing wave matter. The results show a significant improvement in students' understanding of concepts after the application of Mictester for audio analysis on Android devices/smartphones. Thus, standing wave experiments that utilize Mictesters software for audio analytics can be an alternative in physics learning, replacing conventional experimental equipment such as oscilloscopes, thereby reducing the cost of experiments.

Long waves, paradigm shifts, and income distribution, 1929–2010 and afterwards

The way income is distributed in an economy is perhaps the most notable result of its growth patterns. Understanding the joint persistence of economic crises and changes in social inequality since 1929 is considered a great challenge. This paper tries to analyze growth and income distribution in the long run using the concept of long waves, the evolutionary concept of ‘systems’, and empirical information. We conjecture that the social system is in turn an outcome of the co-evolution of four partially autonomous subdomains: (i) technology, characterized by a paradigm whose evolution follows the shape of a ‘Schumpeterian boom’; (ii) the economy or productive system, essentially defined as the succession of intermediate-length fluctuations in investments, and strongly associated to sectoral and structural changes; (iii) science, which contributes to development by generating innovations; and (iv) institutions, which set the rules in which income distribution is framed. Following this scheme, the data reveal that income distribution is an emerging result from this ‘global social system’ and not only the result of economic productivity and technology; apparently, the weight in the income distribution of institutional factors is as relevant as economic and technological factors. Second, the long-run growth trends are most possibly non-linear and, to great extent, non-deterministic, which would support the representation of long-run phenomena as long waves. Finally, we have found that in the long period 1929–2010 and afterwards, two sub-periods are manifested, with very different regimes of income distribution: (1) 1929–1975, when inequality decreased, and (2) from 1975 to present time, when inequality increased. Concerning the years after 2010, two alternatives follow: either these correspond to the recovery phase of a new long wave, or to the end of the depression phase of our second period. In both cases, we are currently moving towards the expansionary phase of a new long wave, which will have important implications for contemporary economic policies.

Analisis Ripple Voltage pada Rangkaian Half-Wave Rectifier dan Full-Wave Rectifier Menggunakan Kombinasi Filter Kapasitor dan Resistor

The aim of this research is to investigate and analyze the ripple voltage in half wave and full wave rectifier circuits with a focus on the use of a combination of capacitor and resistor filters. This research is experimental research using Circuit Wizard. The tools and materials used include CT transformers, diodes, resistors, capacitors, multimeters, alternating power sources, and oscilloscopes. The research process begins by designing and implementing a circuit in the Circuit Wizard simulator according to the concept of half wave and full wave rectification with capacitor and resistor filters. The research results show that to produce a small ripple voltage, use large capacitance and resistance values. The best ripple voltage value produced is 0.6 V when using a 150 mF capacitor or 1000 Ohm resistor.

Application of Virtual Reality in Learning Quantum Mechanics

Quantum mechanics is a physical theory that describes the behavior of microscopic matter. According to quantum theory, a microscopic particle may be described as either a particle or a wave, called wave–particle duality. Many students in high school or college (BC level) find it difficult to imagine that microscopic particles have both particle and wave properties. This is mainly caused by the scale of the world they see since quantum mechanics deals with things that are too small, while the wave and particle phenomena at the microscopic scale are difficult to understand, measure, or verify in the real world. In this study, virtual reality technology was used to develop teaching modules on quantum mechanics, allowing learners to see the particles and wave phenomena of electrons and photons in the microscopic world through interactive operation in virtual experiments. A teaching experiment was conducted by recruiting 60 high school students as research subjects. The control group (30 students) used physics textbooks, and the experimental group (30 students) used the virtual teaching modules for learning quantum mechanics. The analysis results show that the experimental group’s learning effectiveness is higher than the control group. The questionnaire results show that students were satisfied with the learning experience using virtual teaching modules with high learning motivation and low cognitive load because virtual reality can visualize the abstract concepts of wave–particle duality and help them understand quantum mechanics.
