Komitmen Kerja Kepala Madrasah dalam Meningkatkan Efektivitas Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta di Kepulauan Riau

This study was conducted to see the work commitment of the Madrasah principal in improving the effectiveness of Private Junior High Schools (MTs) in the Riau Islands. As an effort to improve the quality of education in madrasas, it is hoped that private madrasas can compete with other public schools. This study uses a qualitative approach that describes the object of study through the process of extracting facts and object data in the field. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study indicate that the work commitment of the Madrasah principal in improving the effectiveness of private MTs in the Riau Islands is not optimal, because there are still many aspects that have not been achieved in terms of realization, budget constraints for the procurement of Madrasah facilities and infrastructure, increasing the professionalism of human resources, and other facilities that are still very limited. For this reason, the head of private MTs in the Riau Islands Province tries to improve the effectiveness of madrasas by implementing strategic educational development concepts. The roles played by the head of the Madrasah are; 1) focusing on common interests, 2) improving communication and understanding, 3) increasing involvement and participation, and 4) avoiding win-lose solutions. These roles are very helpful in realizing increased effectiveness of education in madrasas.

Entrustable Professional Activities in Medical Education: SELECT Leadership, Values-Based Patient-Centered Care, Health Systems, and Scholarly Excellence

Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) represent a concept in medical education that has gained significant traction over the last few years, particularly in the context of competency-based medical education. An EPA refers to a specific task or responsibility that can be entrusted to a trainee once they have demonstrated the necessary competence. EPAs provide concrete tasks that a trainee should be able to complete at various stages of training in order to clarify expectations and responsibilities they should master. The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine (USFMCOM), Scholarly Excellence, Leadership Experiences, Collaborative Training (SELECT) MD program pairs a unique four-year longitudinal leadership program including the domains of leadership, values-based patient-centered care, health systems, and scholarly excellence with an innovative medical degree program. Students in the SELECT program spend the first two years on the campus in Tampa, Florida, and the clinical years on the regional campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania. These additional threads of curriculum call for a unique set of EPAs. A working group of faculty, students, and administrators within the college from both the main and regional campus developed EPAs for each of the above listed areas of focus within the curriculum. In this paper, the authors describe how Entrustable Professional Activities were developed at MCOM to assess the SELECT curriculum in the areas of leadership, values-based patient-centered care, health systems, and scholarly excellence.

Pemikiran KH. A. Wahid Hasyim (Religius -Rasional) Tentang Pendidikan Islam dan Relevansinya dengan Pendidikan Islam Kontemporer

Among the many thinkers and observers of Islamic education, Wahid Hasyim's name is still rare and has received less attention about his ideas regarding the problems of contemporary Islamic education. In addition to his thoughts and struggles related to the State, the figure of Wahid Hasyim also thinks a lot about the strategy and progress of Islamic education in facing various challenges and demands of the community on the needs of the world of education. Islamic education has always been an interesting study not only because it has its own characteristics, but also because it is rich in concepts that are no less quality than modern education. Many figures have made innovations in the world of education, one of which is Wahid Hasyim's thought in advancing Islamic education. This research uses the literature method (liberary reseach) The results of this study are the educational concepts of K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim, namely, 1) Religion, 2) Development of students' potential, 3) Social, and 4) National spirit. Those are the 4 pillars of the concept of Islamic education contributed by K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim in the Islamic education system.

The Construction of Localized Teaching Model of Orff Music Teaching Method Based on Big Data Analysis

This paper discusses how Orff's music education system is combined with the localized teaching mode under the background of globalization, especially with the support of big data analysis to realize the innovation of music education. Orff's music education has attracted worldwide attention for its openness, diversity and innovation. In China, its localization practice aims to balance the international educational concept with the local cultural needs. The innovations of this paper are as follows: firstly, the big data analysis technology is integrated into the localized teaching mode, and the new mode of music teaching is analyzed; Secondly, advocate students' active participation, get rid of the shackles of traditional teaching and make music learning lively and interesting; Thirdly, from a new discipline perspective, combined with the frontier concept of national music education, this paper interprets Orff's localization theory and practice in order to push Orff's music education in China out of the dependent development mode.

Making sense of big questions that require multiple subjects: preliminary theorisation of an integrative philosophy of knowledge and empirical indications of a lack of subject connection within school curricula

AbstractThis paper provides theorisation about a novel concept for education: an integrative philosophy of knowledge (IPK). This is proposed for school curricula to relate multiple subjects to big questions of personal and existential importance. Critical contemporary issues such as climate change education require multiple subject contributions but there is little clarity in the English education guidance on this drawing together, beyond the encouragement to do so in priority areas. Leading British thinkers have engaged the idea of the unity of knowledge, not without difficulty and criticism. The paper identifies reasons for a practical approach to consilience in school curricula. In addition to preliminary theorisation, in methodological ‘harmony’, this paper adds tentative empirical findings from a related research project that provides quantitative indications that such multi-subject connection is likely not happening. The findings are not definitive, but the perceptions of three groups of beginning and experienced teachers (secondary Religious Education (RE), secondary science and primary teachers) indicate that school curricula do not reflect an integrative approach to climate change education, and sex and relationships education, despite policy priority. A significant national survey could not detect many signs of connection. The paper speculates that RE could have a key epistemic role for the curriculum as a whole in this regard.

Should I Use ChatGPT to Write My Papers?

We argue that students have moral reasons to refrain from using chatbots such as ChatGPT to write certain papers. We begin by showing why many putative reasons to refrain from using chatbots fail to generate compelling arguments against their use in the construction of these papers. Many of these reasons rest on implausible principles, hollowed out conceptions of education, or impoverished accounts of human agency. They also overextend to cases where it is permissible to rely on a machine for something that once required human cognition. We then give our account: you have a moral obligation to respect your own humanity (i.e., your capacity to set and pursue your own ends), and the process of writing a humanities paper is important for the cultivation of your humanity. We conclude by considering objections and offering replies. In the end, we argue that the moral reasons students have to refrain from using chatbots depend crucially on instructors’ ability to make writing assignments worthwhile. This relies on instructors having the right kind of institutional support, which sheds light on implications that this duty has for administrators, legislators, and the general public.

Lioba Keller-Drescher (Munster) and Birgit Johler (Graz) have been organising the Summer School Museology at the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold since 2021. In the spirit of research-based learning, the museum becomes a place and object of research for a week. The participants work on theoretical and practical issues concerning the collection, develop curatorial and educational concepts and present the results to the public at the end of the week in the form of an exhibition. In this way, the programme is geared equally towards the need for practical training and young talent in the museum profession, as well as bringing university and museum closer together. The professional improvisation that such a format requires is intended as an impulse for the development of teaching formats in times of AI. Using three posters and six photographs, Jan C. Brian MacWhinney’s 55 Years Research into Language Education and Psychology: A Systematic Review and Brian MacWhinney’s Personal Reflection

Ali Panahi and Hassan Mohebbi systematically reviewed Brian MacWhinney’s 55 years of research and publication in language education and psychology. The study was conducted in varying sections. Section 1 illustrates a methodology for the systematic review. It presents an impressionistic framework based on which the reviewers developed some exclusion and inclusion rules. Section 2 is concerned with MacWhinney’s overall achievements and contributions; all his research publications were estimated to stand at 540 items. Section 3 presents the themes (micro-themes and macro-themes) in MacWhinney’s research works and presents the extracted technical jargons, terms and concepts for both language education (1548 items) and psychology (447 items). Added to this, nine meta-themes were inferred and extracted for all of his research publications. Section 4 provides a systematic review of his research works. As a result, with reference to the subjective criteria and exclusion and inclusion rules, his research works, i.e., articles, book chapters and books, were systematically reviewed. In the end, Brian MacWhinney provided his own reflection and discussion.

Postgraduate’s Dermatology E-logbook – Perceptions of Faculty and Residents: A Survey

Background: Medical postgraduation is a learning/training period during which residents will be assessed based on their academic performances. Various tools are available to assess postgraduate’s academic work, one important tool being a logbook. Dermatology is a visual specialty, and there are advances in information technology and teledermatology. E-logbook assumes its significance in dermatology. Recently, E-logbook is used in various specialties in other countries. E-logbook has not been used in India in dermatology or other specialties. In India, E-logbook has remained only as a concept in medical education. Aims: A survey was performed to obtain the views/perceptions/suggestions of students and faculty for E-logbook in dermatology. Methods: We used a questionnaire for students and faculty of the dermatology department at a tertiary care hospital. The questionnaire which is based on the fundamentals that form the triad of E-logbook includes (a) principles, (b) benefits for students, and (c) faculty. The survey had 26 questions to be answered by faculty and the first 17 to be answered by students. Both students and faculty were asked to provide their reasons with respect to their views. Statistical analysis was performed. Results: Majority of the respondents agreed with P (0.001) for principles, benefits for students, and faculty. Limitations: The study was confined to students and faculty of a single dermatology department. Conclusions: Faculty and students favor E-dermatology logbook. Interesting cases and dermatosurgery/esthetic procedures can be stored, and faculty can assess and monitor the skills of postgraduates. We strongly recommend E-dermatology logbook app.

The troublesome nature of learning to teach critical thinking: Using Threshold Concepts Theory to support Teacher Education

Teaching critical thinking is fundamental for students’ academic success and helps to equip them for life after university. There are some studies which discuss teachers’ perceptions of the barriers regarding the teaching of critical thinking. However, more empirical evidence is needed about the actual challenges which educators experience when learning to teach it. Using the lens of threshold concepts theory, this small-scale collective case study examines the barriers encountered by 14 HE educators in the UK, as they experimented with teaching critical thinking in their disciplinary contexts. Educators identified the troublesome and transformative nature of learning to do so experienced through shortcomings in curricula, learning environment and ways of thinking and practising. These findings suggest that the process of learning to teach critical thinking could be a threshold concept of higher education which supports educators to think differently about how to teach this subject. It provides initial considerations for professional development programmes and resources to support educators to overcome their barriers and learn to teach criticality within their disciplines.

Geosite Kahuripan Evaluation as Gili Genting Potential Asset for Archipelagic Geotourism Development

Abstract There is a growing global interest in natural tourism, which presents new opportunities for the development of small island regions. Several studies have shown that the development of tourism in the Indonesian Archipelago has led to several significant issues, so within the eastern islands of Sumenep— including Gili genting. The richness of natural features and the unique Maduranese Archipelago community, shown by Kahuripan area. However, the potential for developing a nature-based tourism sector (geosite) with the richness of geotourism, has not been adequately considered yet. Therefore, this study aimed to: 1) conducting inventory of the educational geotourism potential; 2) carrying out evaluations using GAM; 3) developing recommendations for future development of Gili Genting Potential Asset as Archipelagic Geotourism Development. According to inventory analysis, the Kahuripan Geosite consists of six Stop site with various information. The MV assessed 4.25 and AV counted of 4.75. The GAM diagram results indicate that the Kahuripan Geosite lies on Q22 tend to be moderate class of MV and AV. This quadrant suggests that the physical aspects of the geosites are quite interesting, while the tourism management that has begun to be developed needs to be further elaborated towards the geotourism-based education concept.

HOLISTIC EDUCATION IN THE EUROPEAN SOCIO-CULTURAL SPACE IN THE EARLY MODERN PERIOD

The article presents a historical-pedagogical analysis of the content and development of the humanistic idea of holistic education in the European socio-cultural space during the Early Modern Period. It traces the value-based interpretations of the idea of holistic education within both secular (Renaissance humanism) and religious (Christian humanism) worldviews of the early modern era. The study reveals that the concept of holistic education was formulated within the philosophical and cultural discourse of Renaissance humanism. It is noted that the Renaissance ideal of holistic education was based on three key components: first, the virtues of broad erudition, intellectual culture, and the art of rhetoric; second, moral principles focused on the ideals of goodness, virtue, modesty, and personal inner culture, as well as Christian priorities of love and compassion; third, the recognition of the individual as the highest value, grounded in the dignity and rights of the person, and the idea of comprehensive and harmonious development of one’s abilities and talents. This also includes the Renaissance virtues of active engagement, initiative, industriousness, persistence, and the appreciation of physical beauty and courage. It is shown that the institutionalization of the idea of holistic education was carried out through the educational activities of Protestant gymnasiums, Jesuit colleges, brotherhood schools, and other educational institutions founded in the context of Protestant Reformation, Catholic Reformation, and religious reforms in the East Slavic lands. The article outlines the civilizational and human-creative significance of the concept of holistic education for the formation of modern European civilization.

Rehabilitasi Pecandu Narkotika melalui Konsep Pendidikan Islam Menurut Al-Ghazali

This research aims to examine and analyze the implementation of rehabilitation for narcotics addicts based on the concept of Islamic education according to Imam Al Ghazali at IPWL Bahrul Maghfiroh, Malang City. The research was conducted qualitatively using a phenomenological approach with purposive sampling techniques through interviews with Rehabilitation Home Assistants, Guardians of Addicts, and Representatives of Addicts who are currently undergoing or have completed the rehabilitation period. The research results show that Therapeutic Community (TC) is the main program at IPWL BMCI Malang City based on Islamic education through an Islamic emotional approach because it prioritizes environmentally friendly therapy. The TC concept applied is Al-Ghazali's educational concept within the scope of Hablumminallah and Hablumminannas. The Hablumminallah concept can be seen in the principle of Man Helping Man to Help by the Mujahadah Principle, the Recovery Concept by Tadzkiyatun Nafs, as well as the Right Living concept by Al-Ghazali's Educational Curriculum Principles, namely that they are both oriented towards a straight approach to Allah. Konsep Pendidikan Keluarga Dalam Perspektif Al-Qur'an Kajian (Q.S.Thaaha Ayat 132)

This research discusses the concept of family education in the Qur'anic perspective, particularly through the study of Surah Thaaha verse 132. This verse emphasizes the importance of educating the family, especially in the spiritual aspect, focusing on the obligation to establish prayer and maintain a good relationship with Allah. In this verse, there is an order to encourage family members to pray consistently and patiently. Family education in this perspective is not only an individual responsibility, but involves all family members to jointly uphold religious values. This research uses thematic interpretation method to explore the educational values in the verse, as well as how it is applied in Muslim family life. It is found that education in the family should be holistic, covering spiritual, moral, and social aspects, with the main goal of forming a strong character in faith and obedience to Allah.

An Analytical Study of Training Needs of University Teachers in Online Environment in Perspectives of Physical Resources and Pedagogical Skills in the Subject of Social Sciences

The objectives of this research study were about finding out the availability of physical resources, the pedagogical requirements of teachers training for online teaching and examining the ICT skills that the teacher needs to teach in online teaching. The mode of teaching has widely got more importance from regular mode towards online teaching and learning from post COVID time. These days it is very familiar concept. The study aimed to investigate the teachers training need assessment for online teaching at university level. This is the descriptive research study. The population as well as sampling units for this study was 150 male along with female university educators. It was concerned in this study about the needs of training of them for online mode of teaching. Questionnaire was used to collect data from the teachers of social science currently serving in various universities in Islamabad. The data were analysed through SPSS by using mean, frequencies, and standard deviation. The data revealed that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) structure needs to be strengthened for online education environments with the concept of blended education and learning techniques self-paced learning and online interactions as an effective and alternate mode of learning.

A Study on the Implementation Path of the Blended Teaching Model in Geological Hazards Investigation and Evaluation

Geological Hazards Investigation and Evaluation is the core course of Environmental Geological Engineering, aiming to cultivate skilled talents with solid theoretical knowledge and excellent practical skills. At present, the course faces several issues, including a teaching environment disconnected from real-world work scenarios, course content that deviates from job-related tasks, a lack of digital teaching resources, and reliance on a single teaching method, leading to students’ poor feedback from employers. Based on the concept of outcome-based education, the course team of Geological Hazards Investigation and Evaluation establishes a “five-step double-rotation” blended teaching model with the help of a Small Private Online Course platform. The program is designed to improve the teaching environment and expand the digitalized teaching resources in order to improve students’ learning motivation, enhance learning effectiveness, and cultivate skillful talents who meet employers’ satisfaction.

Character education is the process of instilling certain values ​​and attitudes in students, while providing them with a foundation to develop their own unique characteristics when interacting in society. The emphasis on the concept of character education, in this context, refers to the teachings taught by the Prophet in his hadiths. The Prophet's hadiths include moral and behavioral principles that are considered important to learn and apply in everyday life. This concept is an important focus in research, with the aim of understanding how character is formed, the types of character that exist, and how this character can be applied in everyday life, especially from the perspective of tarbawi hadith. This research aims to provide parents, educators and students with a better understanding of the moral values ​​taught by the Prophet through hadiths, with the hope that they will be able to implement these teachings in the practice of their daily lives. The implementation of these values ​​is expected to create individuals who have good character, morals, and are full of compassion for others.

Artistic Education in Jerzy Vetulani’s Perspective: A Comparative Analysis With Irena Wojnar’s Polish Concept of Aesthetic Education

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: This article aims to present the anthropological, aesthetic, and pedagogical foundations of Jerzy Vetulani’s postulate of artistic education and compare it with Irena Wojnar’s concept of aesthetic education. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research questions are: What are the anthropological, aesthetic, and pedagogical foundations of Vetulani’s postulate of artistic education? Is there a similarity between Vetulani’s postulate and Wojnar’s proposal of education through art? To achieve these objectives, the content analysis method based on Karolina Szczepaniak’s model was used. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Starting with Vetulani’s neurobiological views, the article first presents art as a defining characteristic of homo sapiens and a key activator of the human brain, especially its cognitive functions. It then discusses the pedagogical assumptions of Vetulani’s postulate. The comparison between Vetulani’s and Wojnar’s concepts is made by examining their anthropological assumptions and the role of art in human development. RESEARCH RESULTS: According to Vetulani, the relationship between humans and art is bio- logically determined, with art being essential for achieving full humanity. Both Vetulani and Wojnar view humans as inherently open to art, which plays a significant role in the upbringing process. CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: Vetulani and Wojnar both emphasize the importance of art in human education. Brain imaging technology can enhance traditional aesthetic education. Activating the brain’s cognitive functions through art, particularly cognitive attention as highlighted by Vetulani, can be beneficial in treating common concentration disorders in children and adolescents.

The history of Brazil is divided into three periods: colonial (1500-1822), imperial (1822-1889), and republican (1889 to the present). From 2015 at 2024, there have been distinct definitions of what “education” is in Brazil. Therefore, I will examine the concepts of education presented by Dilma Rousseff in her Message to the National Congress (2015), by the National Common Curricular Base – BNCC, (2017), and by Jair Bolsonaro also in the Message to the National Congress (2019), respectively, focusing on the forms of humanist, technicist and elitist education. Having explained the definitions, I present the analysis of two Brazilian “unpublished documents” – a Compendium Philosophicum (1756) and Offended and defended Slavery 1840 – as examples of an education based on innovation and social commitment. From them I point out a critical reading of elitist and technicist forms and advocate for critical and emancipatory education, based on three elements: 1) the need to produce knowledge on a global scale with symmetry, reciprocity and recognition, 2) education thought as an action that transforms the human being, and 3) knowledge and education as the basis for the inclusion and overcoming social inequalities.
