Pelatihan Penerapan Streamlining Production Flow dalam Upaya Continuous Improvement di Pabrik Mie Ho Kie San, Patikraja

Ho Kie San Noodle Factory is one of the MSMEs in Patikraja District, Central Java that produces traditional noodles. Previously, the community service team had assisted this partner in increasing its production potential. However, there are still many improvements that can be made. The management conveyed the need for Kaizen (continuous improvement) material. Therefore, community service activities were carried out again in this factory. The method used is training. There were 9 participants who attended, representing the human resource department, finance department, general department, administration department, technical department, production department, inventory department and marketing department. The stages of the activities carried out were factory surveys and interviews with management, training implementation preparation, compiling training materials, filling preliminary questionnaires, training to representatives of each department within the company regarding the concept of continuous improvement and streamlined, and filling evaluation questionnaires. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was found that the level of understanding of the participants increased after the training. Providing materials of Kaizen (continuous improvement) as well as production flow streamlining can help participants in streamlining the flow in each department and can also give motivation to continue making improvements in each department.

Modern infrastructure is a complex of systems, networks, objects and technologies that ensure the effective functioning of society and the economy in the conditions of modern challenges and technological progress. The creation and maintenance of such infrastructure is a critically important aspect for the development of the country, its competitiveness and ability to adapt to new conditions. The introduction of innovative methods, such as the business process approach, allows creating efficient and adaptive infrastructure systems. At the same time, business practices have not become sufficiently widespread in infrastructure enterprises, which is an important problem in the conditions of directing significant funds to restore damaged and create new infrastructure. The purpose of the research is to determine the features of the business model of infrastructural solutions and to develop proposals for evaluating its effectiveness. The study identifies the key elements of the infrastructure services business model. The main directions of transformation of business models in the infrastructural sphere are considered. In accordance with modern management standards, the key principles of the concept of continuous improvement of business processes in the field of service enterprises have been defined. DEA analysis was used for the comparative assessment of the effectiveness of the business model of business structures based on the results.

Lean Six Sigma, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal auditing

PurposeIn light of the recent changes in the internal audit (IA) landscape, the role of auditors has undergone a significant transformation. This paper aims to investigate the effects of applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) techniques on the effectiveness and efficiency of IA.Design/methodology/approachThe study used a quantitative approach, surveying Iranian internal auditors with a sample size of 384 participants. Data analysis involved confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling.FindingsThe analyses demonstrate a significant association between LSS application and IA effectiveness and efficiency. In addition, an exploratory analysis indicates that the application of LSS techniques by less experienced internal auditors had a reverse effect on IA function quality as a component of IA competency. However, IA motivation factors, including education and position, did not mediate the impact of LSS on IA effectiveness and efficiency.Research limitations/implicationsThis study was conducted with Iranian internal auditors, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other countries. However, the primary academic implication of this research lies in its novel perspective on emphasizing the concept of continuous improvement in IA through the use of LSS techniques. By focusing on the need for internal auditors to add value to the business in new ways, this research contributes to the literature on IA quality.Practical implicationsThis study has significant implications for the effective management of IA departments. By promoting the application of LSS techniques in IA, lean auditing is enhanced, and IA can create value by improving the quality of its functions. Moreover, IA regulators can benefit from this study as it emphasizes providing guidance and training on LSS techniques to enhance IA skills.Originality/valueThis research is pioneering in applying LSS methodology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of internal auditing. It also considers the integration of lean thinking into current audit practices, making it unique and valuable in internal auditing research.

Implementation Of Accreditation Follow-Up Management (IAFUM) To Enhance Vocational High School Education Quality (Descriptive Study Of SMK XYZ In Bandung City)

This research identifies key post-accreditation issues in Vocational High Schools (VHS/SMK), highlighting low awareness of educational quality, limited involvement in planning, and a mismatch between SMK graduate skills and industry needs. Busy schedules hinder evaluating accreditation outcomes, delaying improvements and re-accreditation preparations. The study applies Corrective Action, Preventive Action, and Continuous Improvement concepts aligned with ISO 9001:2015. It analyzes Accreditation Follow-up Management's (IAFuM) impact on SMK XYZ in Bandung, employing a descriptive qualitative method. Accreditation, crucial for program eligibility, operates independently based on open criteria and government regulations. Findings reveal that while IAFuM was executed at SMK XYZ with documented planning, implementation, and evaluation actions, no records of the Inventory of Problems Resulting from Accreditation (IPRA) were found. The School Self-Evaluation based on National Education Standards (NES) and the School Quality Management System (QMS) lacked documentation. Post-IAFuM implementation, improvements in teaching processes, educator competency, administrative services, community participation, and industry collaboration were observed. However, not all schools saw enhanced alumni absorption or national exam scores. Insufficient follow-ups such as corrective actions, preventive measures, and sustainable enhancements were noted.Recommendations to boost education quality at SMK XYZ Bandung include: schools and accreditation teams reviewing issues, integrating IAFuM with QMS, policymakers considering IAFuM for accreditation gaps and school mentoring, and Accreditation Body for School/Madrasa (AB-S/M) including accreditation result records in school certificates.

The effect of patient quality measurements and HCAHPS patient satisfaction on hospital reimbursements

BACKGROUND: The Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) links hospital reimbursements to quality metrics. Likewise, the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) program offers financial incentives to acute-care hospitals based on performance improvements on several quality measures included in the national Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. A research gap exists with regard to assessing the effectiveness of VBP incentives on improving the patient’s quality of care. OBJECTIVE: This study is to determine whether hospitals which reported better patient quality metrics and lower frequency of pressure sores received higher reimbursements. METHODS: The data were retrieved from the CMS Care Compare website utilizing matched data from 2297 US hospitals. Information on HCAHPS, the VBP Program in Patient Safety Index, and Reimbursements was obtained for this study. Partial Least Square (PLS) was utilized thru SmartPLS 3.0 to test the hypotheses. RESULTS: The results did not reveal any financial penalties when hospitals reported lower patient quality outcomes and increased numbers of pressure sores. However, lower patient quality measures were associated with lower patient satisfaction. Controversially, lower patient satisfaction scores were associated with higher reimbursement rates overall. CONCLUSIONS: The main contribution of this study reveals that the effectiveness of value-based reimbursements and the concept of continuous improvement is constrained due to the lack of unified measurement objectives across US healthcare institutions.

Implementation of Total Productive Maintenance in a Jute Bag Industry:a Case Study

In this competitive world, manufacturing industries are suffering from several problems such as breakdown of machine, production adjustments, poor working of defective equipment, poor maintenance and management, unhealthy working area and this lead to low productivity, increasing wastage, fire damage and major losses in the company’s growth. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approaches can be promising solution to overcome these problems. Therefore, this study attempts to evaluate the contributions TPM initiatives towards improving manufacturing performance in a Jute bag manufacturing industry in Bangladesh. Specific objectives of this study are identification and reduction of major losses by using TPM tools and evaluation of the effectiveness by analyzing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). The correlations between various TPM implementation dimensions and manufacturing performance improvements have been evaluated and validated by employing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) in the jute bag plant. In this study TPM tools such as 5S, Autonomous Maintenance, Kobetsu Kaizen, Planned Maintenance and Education and Training have been implemented in the selected company. The equipment failure losses are reduced 3.85% through continuous improvement concept. The defect rate is reduced by 1.84% by taking preventive action. Curriculum syllabus reform from the perspective of engineering education professional certification

It takes the international integration of engineering education as a breakthrough, and improves the quality by strengthening the development of connotation. This paper takes the course "WeChat Platform Development" selected by the software engineering major as the main research object, and aims to provide necessary theoretical support and practical guidance for the construction of other curriculum systems in the process of engineering education certification for software engineering majors. Mainly, under the support of the three educational concepts of student-centered, output-oriented, and continuous improvement, it solves the problems related to the adaptability of students, the effectiveness of the curriculum, and the satisfaction of students after learning in the construction of the relevant software engineering curriculum system. This paper starts from the construction of the "WeChat Platform Development" course system for software engineering majors, the formulation of course syllabus, the achievement of course teaching objectives, and the design of relevant course assessments to carry out course teaching reform. The achievement of the teaching goal corresponds to the achievement of the graduation goal and then to the achievement of the training goal as the evaluation standard of the course. Reflecting how well students have learned, based on the achievement of the teaching objectives of the course and the output of the students as the quality evaluation, the relevant course files are formulated, and the plan is given to reflect the concept of continuous improvement in engineering education certification.

Continuous production improvement concept for shipbuilding enterprises

Aim. The presented study aims to investigate a relevant quality management method and to propose ways of adapting the continuous production improvement methodology to the operating conditions of a shipbuilding enterprise.Tasks. The authors describe a productive management system and effective lean production tools; popularize commitment to continuous improvement at every workplace and in every production process of a shipbuilding enterprise; describe an algorithm for the continuous improvement of production processes to increase labor productivity.Methods. This study uses systems analysis, synthesis, and methods of logical analysis to systematize existing approaches, basic tools, and methods of quality management, in particular the concept of continuous improvement for enterprises.Results. Adapting the concept of continuous improvement for shipbuilding enterprises and becoming a lean enterprise requires not only a special management style, but also a new way of working through new thinking and attitude to work. For this, corporate culture should focus providing value for the consumer and continuous improvement.Conclusions. The concept of continuous improvement and lean production based on a constant desire to eliminate all types of losses and a technology for steadily reducing costs; active involvement of employees in the transformation of the enterprise in the context of limited resources and strong competition — all this will increase the competitiveness and stability of the shipbuilding enterprise in the market.

A Systematic Review of Kaizen Approach in Industries

This paper contribution to define research variable domination in various tools used in Kaizen concept and research variable of Kaizen dominated by VSM and Continuous Improvement with the same percentage number 21%, then Lean 18%, TPM 10%, 5S 8%, PDCA 4%, in this calculation one research paper can use more than one tools of Kaizen.

Penyuluhan Warehouse Management pada UMKM melalui Perbaikan secara Berkelanjutan

The business development that is getting faster needs continuous improvements. Implementation of continuous improvement is carried out in large companies and needs to be carried out by MSMEs (Medium Small Micro Enterprises). One activity that needs to be appropriately managed by MSMEs is warehousing. Optimal warehouse management can improve MSME business performance. However, MSMEs do not own knowledge and awareness of continuous improvement optimally. This resulted in warehouse management has not performed optimally by MSMEs. This community service activity aims to provide knowledge to MSMEs about how to identify Muda, Mura, Muri and how to make continuous improvements in warehouse management. Implementing activities is carried out by direct observation and counseling to MSMEs. This community service activity was carried out for two days. The counseling activity was carried out on April 27, attended by owners and employees of Puppet MSMEs in Bogor. The counseling was carried out by providing material on the concept of continuous improvement and identification of Muda, Mura, Muri and continued with a discussion session.

The Impact of Continuous Improvement Concepts on the Performance of Furniture Production Processes

Most small and medium-sized enterprises in the furniture industry use simple partial approaches to improve or manage production processes. The article aims to present research results focused on continuous process improvement through the implementation of Six Sigma (SS) and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) concepts in furniture production. Their impact on the performance via the level of the ROE (Return on Equity) indicator was evaluated using statistical methods of Chi-square test and Cramer’s contingency coefficient. The results of the research showed that furniture enterprises that had implemented selected methods of quality management reached a medium level of ROE values. The absence of a more comprehensive approach to managing the performance of processes was the impulse for a model creation based on the interconnection of SS and LSS concepts. The model should a practical use of appropriate methodologies and procedures in the management of furniture production processes, as well as in their optimisation. A thorough analysis of non-conforming products performed in furniture manufacturing processes transformed into SS and LSS metrics and the implementation of the model in the enterprise led to reduced process waste by reducing the number of non-conforming products, reducing the cost of such products, and increasing the capability of critical processes. Implications for Central European audience: The combination of theoretical knowledge in performance management and quality of production processes and practical knowledge from the real implementation of methods and tools for continuous improvement of production process capability in the company proved to be a good basis for creating a model within SS and LSS. These facts have contributed to the development of scientific knowledge. The presented application of methods and tools within SS and LSS will provide instructions for the use of new management methods. The specific outputs of the research work improve defining problems, measuring process parameters, analysis of measured data, improving furniture production processes.

Application of Toyota Way Incorporating Kaizen, Kaikaku and 5S in Agricultural Sector

Abstract: A noble operational framework – 2K5S, a modified form of Toyota production system (TPS) incorporating Kaizen, Kaikaku and 5S is introduced in this paper. Kaizen is continuous improvement concept implementing a small step at a time to produce a small or moderate improvement in productivity. Kaikaku is a moderate innovative approach implementing new work method or means to produce a drastic improvement in productivity by eliminating wastes at the same time. The 2K5S is then implemented in the operations of a pineapple farm and a series of case studies are conducted. The outcomes of the case studies have revealed that through the introduction and implementation of the 2K5S operational framework, some significant organisational improvements have been witnessed. Apart from significantly increment in productivity, other advantages achieved including increasing in effectiveness and efficiency in the operational processes, improved visual management of the process, improved operational health and safety and morale of the workers, improved housekeeping, waste elimination and process standardization. The outcomes of this study have demonstrated that 2K5S is a powerful and practical operational framework model which is applicable for agricultural organisation. Integration of the controlling mechanism into the Deming-Shewhart PDСA cycle in the context of digitalization

Digitalization provides an increase in the efficiency of production management, and also opens up wide opportunities for the formation of models of management decisions using predictive technologies. Digital technologies systematize and combine information flows of different origins. Thus, a predictive model of strategic and tactical production management is created. A condition for the successful digital transformation of economic sectors is the development of a set of measures for the technical re-equipment of enterprises. This article proposes an integrated controlling model based on the concept of continuous improvement of PDCA processes. The PDCA cycle model is adapted to the process of technical re-equipment of the enterprise and is integrated with the controlling mechanism based on the process approach. Such integration will ensure an increase in the controllability of the technical re-equipment process, improve the coordination of personnel actions, and create effective feedback mechanisms. The proposed model will increase the validity and efficiency of management decisions.

Post-Acute COVID-19 Rehabilitation Network Proposal: From Intensive to Extensive and Home-Based IT Supported Services.

Management of COVID-19 post-acute syndrome is an emerging health issue in rehabilitation. This article aims to present a proposal, based on the principles of clinical governance, health management and information technology (IT), and to respond to the need for a structured organization model for post-acute COVID-19 rehabilitation. The authors present a regional-based model of a network of clinicians and healthcare managers using a dedicated IT platform to achieve both effectiveness and efficiency objectives, to ensure coordination of the available resources and the most appropriate rehabilitative treatment for patients. The proposed post-acute COVID-19 rehabilitation network has been designed according to the model of a clinical management project within the Italian national healthcare system, and its context is an easily adjustable model for the European healthcare systems. The authors base the project on current laws and scientific guidelines in rehabilitation in Italy and in Europe and use the SWOT analysis technique to assess the proposal feasibility. The primary aims of the project are: (1) standardizing the minimum assessment tools of post-COVID-19 patients with disabilities; (2) ensuring an individual rehabilitation project for each patient with international classification of functioning, disability and health (ICF) coding and (3) reporting the activity performance with appropriate indicators. The secondary aims are: (1) developing educational programs for patients and care givers also aimed at acquiring better empowerment and positive behavior; (2) creating a regional database for data collection and (3) improving IT, and specifically tele-rehabilitation, as a suitable approach during the COVID-19 emergency and also in the future. Expected results are: continuum of care; effectiveness, efficacy and appropriateness in the delivery of rehabilitation treatments through a standardized minimum assessment and the wording of the individual rehabilitation project and a precise reporting of performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of clinical activities and the satisfaction of patients and caregivers. The assessment of results will be analyzed at three and six months to implement corrective actions according to the concept of continuous improvement of the Deming cycle. The IT remote approach allows the patient to meet the needs of proximity of care and empowerment, and, at the same time, to contain the spread of infection. This project could have a significant healthcare impact ensuring a more efficient and effective management of the demand of rehabilitation post-acute COVID-19, expanding the professional skills of the rehabilitation team members, improving both clinical and process data, in addition to optimal allocation of available economic resources.

Eliminating Muda (Waste) in Lean Management by Working Time Standardization

Process improvement is a constant search for opportunities to improve the processes in the daily operations of the company, and to enhance the relationships between processes. One of the concepts of continuous improvement is the Lean Management approach. Lean management is the way to achieve the perfect level of the organization through the gradual and ongoing, which is characteristic for continuous improvement approach, elimination of waste (“muda” in Japanese) and losses in all the aspects of business, and the integration of activities connected with the stream creating customer value. The approach to classification of wastes dominating in the literature comprises seven groups. The authors focused on just the last type of waste that is on the under-utilization of the potential of employees. However, according to the author’s interpretation, thinking of “muda” is not using the available working time of employees. In the opinion of the authors, this loss is due to a lack of standardization of working time of employees In order to eliminate wasted time at the workplace, the authors suggest using the techniques of work analysis and standardization. The purpose of this article is to present the methods mentioned and focus on the possibility of their inclusion in the concept of Lean Management, in the context of elimination of waste in the form of under-utilized potential of employees. The above approach combines the Japanese approach in terms of improvement of processes and European approach in the context of research on work.

Realidade Aumentada na Indústria: uma Análise Bibliométrica

Esta pesquisa visa apresentar uma análise bibliométrica com o objetivo de apresentar os estudos sobre a realidade aumentada na indústria. O atual cenário da indústria mundial reflete uma busca incessante por novas tecnologias que auxiliem na gestão da produção seguindo, dessa forma, o conceito de melhoria contínua apresentado pelo Lean Manufacturing. Grande parte das melhorias implementadas em processos tem como base os pilares da indústria 4.0. Com a alta competitividade presente nesse cenário, a implementação da realidade aumentada em diferentes segmentos industriais tem apresentado resultados que mostram que ela proporciona ganhos importantes em processos, já que é uma técnica que soluciona problemas de não conformidade e qualidade, treina os funcionários de maneira mais eficaz, auxilia em manutenções preventivas e até gera uma maior segurança. Sendo assim, com base na expansão da realidade aumentada no ambiente industrial, justifica-se a necessidade de compreensão dos principais usos dessa tecnologia por meio de uma revisão da literatura científica. Para a análise bibliométrica deste artigo, a plataforma escolhida foi a Scopus e o período escolhido foi de 2015 a 2019. Com essa análise, notou-se a diversidade de aplicações de realidade aumentada em diferentes países e setores industriais.

The article presents historical material that highlights the main stages of the development of the modern economic model of "lean production", which allows optimizing any process by means of traditional technologies without large investments to achieve a long-term, sustainable economic effect.

Exploration and Consideration on Teaching Reform of Data Structure Course for the Engineering Education Professional Certification

As a core curriculum of computer science, data structure plays a key role in connecting the preceding with the following in the professional curriculum system. This paper analyses the problems existing in the traditional teaching method of data structure course. Based on the results-oriented concept of engineering education for professional certification, the student-centered and continuous improvement concept of teaching, some ideas and measures for the reform of data structure course are presented, including adjusting teaching aims and improving teaching methods and reforming assessment methods, etc. Through the reform, we can effectively improve the teaching effect of data structure course, learning interest and initiative of the student and improve engineering practice ability for them.

Оперативная оценка качества публичного управления объектами инфраструктуры инвестиционной деятельности на мезоуровне на основе рейтинга привлекательности объектов для потенциальных инвесторов

The investment policy of the state at the present stage of the country's development predetermined the need for the development of processes of public management of socio-economic meso-level systems. These processes are the subject of research. The paper describes the main requirements to the methodology for the development of the process of public management of the investment infrastructure at the meso-level. The authors propose an approach to the development of the public management process at the meso-level on the basis of the concept of continuous improvement of E. Deming's process. The approach includes tools for monitoring and controlling the quality of management of the investment infrastructure. It is an approach to the organization of one of the tools for assessing the quality of public management of investment infrastructure objects, i.e. the index of attractiveness of investment infrastructure objects for potential investors. This indicator is proposed to be assessed on the basis of the attractiveness rating of infrastructure facilities (RAIF). The application of the methodical approach was demonstrated on the basis of data from the information site of the holding company DEGA GROUP. The paper also contains ratings of the attractiveness of the economic favored zones, industrial parks and technological parks of the subjects of the Russian Federation of the Siberian Federal District.

The implementation of total quality management (TQM) in housekeeping department of W Bali-Seminyak

Competition in the business field is rapid and tight, particularly in the hospitality industry. A company needs the efforts to do continuous improvement toward the potential of human resources, process, and the environment to bring about the best quality of product or service. The effective and efficient way to improve those capabilities is by implementing Total Quality Management (TQM). TQM contributes the benefit such as increasing the competitiveness of the company. TQM concept denotes the concept of continuous improvement that applies to every level of the operation. W Bali – Seminyak, specifically housekeeping department has objective to offer the unique and special moments, inventing the creative staff, and recultivating the hospitality in Bali which committed to implementing TQM optimally. The purpose of the study was to investigate the implementation of Total Quality Management in the housekeeping department of W Bali-Seminyak as well as the obstacles to it. Methods of analysis used in this study were descriptive qualitative and descriptive statistical analysis. The result of this study indicated TQM had been implemented in the housekeeping department, W Bali- Seminyak.
