Artificial intelligence (AI) has long since found its way into foreign language teaching. Teachers need to be aware of not only the opportunities and possibilities, but also the dangers, such as fake news and bias, when using AI in the classroom. To support teachers in this challenge, subject-specific, effective teacher training is required to enable them to use AI technologies confidently. As part of this, the Bremen sub-project of the BMBF-funded joint project 'Digital sovereignty as the goal of pioneering teacher training for languages, social sciences and economics in the digital world (DiSo-SGW)' is developing a concept for such training in a blended learning format. The project is empirically supported by a design-based research study as part of a doctorate. The design has already been subjected to an initial evaluation by means of a pilot project in which quantitative and qualitative survey methods were used. The learning processes of the participants were analyzed and based on this, lines of improvement were identified. The results of an individual interview and a group discussion are presented in this article.
