Ionic Polymerization-Based Synthesis of Bioinspired Adhesive Hydrogel Microparticles with Tunable Morphologies from Microfluidics.

Shape-anisotropic hydrogel microparticles have attracted considerable attention for drug-delivery applications. Particularly, nonspherical hydrogel microcarriers with enhanced adhesive and circulatory abilities have demonstrated value in gastrointestinal drug administration. Herein, inspired by the structures of natural suckers, we demonstrate an ionic polymerization-based production of calcium (Ca)-alginate microparticles with tunable shapes from Janus emulsion for the first time. Monodispersed Janus droplets composed of sodium alginate and nongelable segments were generated using a coflow droplet generator. The interfacial curvatures, sizes, and production frequencies of Janus droplets can be flexibly controlled by varying the flow conditions and surfactant concentrations in the multiphase system. Janus droplets were ionically solidified on a chip, and hydrogel beads of different shapes were obtained. The in vitro and in vivo adhesion abilities of the hydrogel beads to the mouse colon were investigated. The anisotropic beads showed prominent adhesive properties compared with the spherical particles owing to their sticky hydrogel components and unique shapes. Finally, a novel computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) coupling simulation was used to evaluate particle migration and contact forces theoretically. This review presents a simple strategy to synthesize Ca-alginate particles with tunable structures that could be ideal materials for constructing gastrointestinal drug delivery systems.

Impact of sediment uniformity from steep tributary on transport in main Channels: A CFD-DEM study

During flash flood events, a prominent size segregation phenomenon often occurs in the mixture of sediment particles of varying diameters moving with the floodwaters. However, the impact of the inherent inhomogeneity of the sediment on its transport process continues to be unclear. This study evaluates the sorting phenomenon in the transport behavior of flood-impacted, loosely deposited sediment particles originating from steep tributary feeders in mountain channels. To achieve this objective, a computational framework integrating Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) was utilized to directly simulate the detailed paths of all particles. After validating the CFD-DEM model, we investigated the influence of the sediment particles’ coefficient of uniformity (Cu) on sediment transport characteristics. The results suggest that under different Cu values, coarse particles initially accelerate rapidly but later slow down and converge to a consistent speed, whereas fine particles demonstrate a more uniform speed increase and eventually maintain a constant velocity. With rising Cu, the peak degree of sorting between coarse and fine particles first increases and then stabilizes. The temporal variation of the dimensionless sediment transport rate of any sediment component at a given section can be represented using a modified dual-branch Weibull function. The overall transport process can be determined through linear superposition based on mass proportion. Additionally, we found that the heterogeneous characteristics of the sediment provide a mode of overall sediment transport where fine particles roll at the bottom, while coarse particles slide and saltate at the top, leading to reduced frictional dissipation in the movement of coarse particles. This phenomenon is commonly observed in mountain flood channels with slopes less than 60 degrees. These findings bolster the explanation for the poor application of existing sediment transport rate formulas in flash flood channels.

CFD-DEM mixing of rod-like and spherical particles in fluidized beds

Understanding the behavior of particle mixing in fluidized beds is crucial for enhancing process design. This article focuses on investigating the effect of key parameters, such as volume fraction of spherical particles, length of rod-like particles, and aspect ratio of rod-like particles, on the mixing of binary mixtures containing spherical and rod-like particles. The study employs a computational approach which couples the computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) to explore mixing behavior of particles. Non-spherical particles are modeled using the multi-sphere method. A combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches is employed to assess the mixing performance, including visual examination of the fluidized bed and calculation of the subdomain-based mixing index. It was shown that an increase in rod-like particle length, aspect ratio, and volume fraction of rod-like particles weaken the mixing. Furthermore, the quality of mixing is directly influenced by bubble size and particle granular temperature. This study offers valuable insights into the mixing behavior of rod-like and spherical particles, contributing to the design and optimization of binary fluidization processes.

A comprehensive heat transfer prediction model for tubular moving bed heat exchangers using CFD-DEM: Validation and sensitivity analysis

This study established a complete heat transfer prediction model that integrates four heat transfer sub-models, including contact heat conduction, gas film heat conduction, heat radiation, and heat convection, along with an artificial softening correction based on combined approach of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM). The model’s precision was confirmed by experimental results with relative errors below 5 %. The discussion on the heat flux contributions of the above four heat transfer mechanisms shows that with an initial particle temperature of 200℃, tube wall temperature of 30℃, and particle descent velocity of 1.3 mm/s, gas film conduction heat flux is the primary contributor to the total tube wall heat flux at 60.5 %, followed by radiation heat flux (19.5 %), contact conduction heat flux (12.1 %), and convection heat flux (7.9 %). Besides, the presentation of physical fields related to particles and the fluid showcases the model’s capability in elucidating the heat and mass transfer characteristics of the particle–fluid-wall system within tubular MBHEs. Furthermore, a local nominal range sensitivity analysis, along with a study of factors’ influence rules, was performed to quantify the effects of the 8 key model parameters on heat transfer results. The analysis indicates that fluid thermal conductivity is the predominant factor with its nondimensionalized first-order sensitivity coefficient of 54.9 %, succeeded by particle-to-wall angle factor (15.4 %), wall emissivity (14.4 %), gas film thickness (9.6 %), wall thermal conductivity (2.3 %), wall roughness (-1.6 %), particle Young’s modulus (-1.4 %), and particle specific heat capacity (0.4 %). Finally, their impacts on the heat prediction results were presented in detail.

CFD-DEM numerical investigation of the effects of water content and inclination angle on interactions between debris flows and slit dam

Debris flows, composed of sediment–water mixtures, can pose significant risks to downstream populations and infrastructure in mountainous regions. Slit dams have been demonstrated as being effective measures for decreasing the destructivity of debris flows. Reliable evaluations of the interactions between debris flows and slit dams are challenging if the complicated component characteristics of debris flows, such as the water content, are not considered. Here, a multi-scale study of debris flows impacting a slit dam is conducted via computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) simulations to understand the influences of the water content (controlled by solid volume fraction in this study) and the channel inclination angle on flow–slit dam interactions. The results indicate that both the initial solid volume fraction and the channel inclination angle have significant effects on the impact kinematics of flow–slit dam interactions and regulation functions of the slit dam: (i) For gentle slopes, the deposition of debris flows is primarily influenced by flume basal friction, and the normalized peak total impact forces have little difference for a given inclination angle, whereas for steep slopes, an overtopping can occur, further result in the increasing of the normalized peak total impact forces with the increase of solid volume fraction. (ii) The run-up height and retention efficiency are also analyzed to provide a scientific reference for optimizing the design of slit dams.

Numerical investigation of flow patterns in cuttings transport for extended-reach horizontal wells with rotation drillpipe

During the drilling process of extended-reach horizontal wells, the formation of the cuttings bed at the bottom of the wellbore is prone to cause drilling sticking and pump accidents. A coupled method of Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) is used here to study the flow patterns and transition of cuttings transport. Firstly, the model is validated with experimental results, which shows a good agreement. Then, the impact of the rotation speed, eccentricity, and conveying velocity on cuttings flow pattern are analyze. The total Reynolds number is introduced here to established a curve with dimensionless pressure drop, which divides the parameter interval of each flow pattern, and the change rule of cuttings flow pattern is also revealed. This study will establish a theoretical foundation for enhancing borehole cleaning efficiency and hold practical significance in guiding the drilling field construction of extended-reach wells.

Fiber Stiffness: An Essential Parameter of the Effectiveness of Fiber-Based Lost Circulation Materials—A CFD-DEM Numerical Investigation

Summary Fiber materials have become an attractive choice for lost circulation material (LCM) applications recently. While there has been significant attention on the size, aspect ratio, and size distribution of fibers, the stiffness or basically the effect of their deformability on the sealing capability has not been studied rigorously. Experimental evaluations of fibers with different material properties could be a cumbersome, time-consuming, and expensive process. Most laboratory studies are limited to one or just a few different types of materials. Hence, a novel two-way-coupled computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM)-based numerical model is used to overcome this limitation and to simulate motion, collision, deformation, and finally entanglement of individual LCM fibers moving with the fluid along a fracture. Fiber stiffness is determined by the Young’s modulus, the fiber diameter, and the fiber length. Therefore, we investigate this effect in a parametric study with a focus on the impact of the length, diameter, and Young’s modulus of the fiber on their sealing capability. An in-depth analysis reveals that the bridging mechanism for fiber LCM changes with the stiffness of the fiber. Two distinct bridging mechanisms dependent on the fiber stiffness for fiber LCMs are identified. Based on the simulation results, we developed a conceptual model for the different mechanisms that fibers use for bridge initiation. It is also observed that in determining LCM effectiveness, both the fiber stiffness and the fiber dimensions go hand in hand. Stiff fibers were associated with greater maximum plugging pressures (MPPs). The effect of using a mix of soft and stiff fibers on fracture plugging effectiveness has been evaluated. The fiber LCM effectiveness as a consequence of the bending stiffness on bridging larger fractures is also investigated. CFD-DEM investigation of the flow characteristic of biomass particles and heat carrier in a novel V-shaped down-tube pyrolysis reactor

During biomass thermochemical conversion, addition of inert heat carriers such as sand, metal and ceramic balls into the reactor can effectively promote the flow mixing and conduction heat transfer of biomass. Therefore, it is important to understand the flow behavior of the binary mixture containing biomass and heat carrier for efficient utilization of biomass energy. In this study, computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) were used to evaluate the flow behavior and law of the binary mixture of heat carrier and biomass in a novel down-tube pyrolysis reactor. The results show important effects of different ceramic ball sizes and different mass ratios on the flow behavior of binary mixtures. Under the same mass ratio, the smaller the particle size of ceramic balls were, the greater the effect to promote the motion of biomass particles. The fluid-like motion changed more obvious with the increase of mass ratio and biomass particles.

CFD-DEM investigation of the effects of aperture size for a capsule-based dry powder inhaler

Capsule based dry powder inhalers (DPIs) often require piercing of the capsule before inhalation, and the characteristics of the apertures (punctured holes) affect air flow and the release of powders from the capsule. This work develops a numerical model based on the two-way coupling of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) to investigate the effect of aperture size on powder dispersion in the Aerolizer® device loaded with only carrier particles (lactose). Powders (carrier particles) in the size range 60–140 μm (d50: 90 μm and span: 0.66) were initialized in a capsule which had a circular aperture at each end. Boundary conditions corresponding to an air flow rate of 45 L/min were specified at each inlet to the mixing chamber (i.e., a total flow rate 90 L/min), and a capsule spin speed of ∼ 4050 rpm. The velocity magnitudes inside the capsule were considerably lower than those in the mixing chamber in the vicinity of the rotating capsule, with the exception of the capsules featuring 2.5 mm and 4 mm apertures. Larger apertures reduced the capsule emptying time and increased the particle evacuation velocity; the fluid drag force on the particles issuing from the capsule peaked for an aperture of 1.3 mm. Inside the capsule, particle–particle (PP) collisions were more frequent than particle–wall (PW) collisions due to high concentration of powder, but PP collisions had smaller (median) impact energy than PW collisions. Larger apertures resulted in fewer collisions in the capsule with higher PW and virtually unchanged PP collision energies. Outside the capsule (i.e., in the inhaler mixing chamber), PW collisions occurred more frequently than PP collisions with median collision energies typically two orders of magnitude higher than inside the capsule. Larger apertures resulted in more collisions with slightly reduced collision energy, but this effect plateaued for aperture sizes larger than 1.3 mm. Powder dispersion, expressed as the fine particle fraction (FPF) of the powder, was predicted using an empirical equation based on carrier PW collisions. Therefore, consistent with the model prediction of the effect of aperture sizes on the chamber collision frequency, FPF increased with aperture size but plateaued beyond 1.3 mm.

Impact of Airflow Rectification on Spreading Uniformity for UAV-Based Multichannel Pneumatic Granular Fertilizer Spreader

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are an important part of smart farms and have been widely used in granular fertilizer spreading. The multichannel pneumatic granular fertilizer spreader (MPGFS) has the advantages of light weight and precision spreading, and has been applied to UAV variable rate fertilization. Based on the problem that the airflow field disorder of the existing MPGFS reduces the uniformity of spreading, the aim of this study was to further improve the performance of the MPGFS through rectification. The computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) and coupling simulation method were used to study the characteristics of the airflow field and fertilizer particle motion, and a honeycomb rectifier and grid rectifier were developed. The aperture of the honeycomb rectifier and the grid size of the grid rectifier were optimized. Then, the test bench was built to test the consistency of the discharge rate of each channel and the spreading uniformity of the MPGFS. The simulation results of the existing MPGFS showed that the airflow provided by the axial flow fan was rotational, and this caused the particles’ motion to be skewed in the shrinkage section, so the discharge rate of each channel was inconsistent. The airflow field analysis results of the shrinkage section showed that the airflow rotation was reduced after the rectification of the honeycomb rectifier and the grid rectifier. The bench test results showed that the coefficient of variation (CV) of each channel discharge rate of the existing MPGFS was 20.16%, the optimal honeycomb rectifier was 13.07%, and the optimal grid rectifier was 5.27%. The bench test results of spreading uniformity show that the CV of spreading uniformity of the existing MPGFS was 15.32%, the optimal honeycomb rectifier was 15.81%, and the optimal grid rectifier was 8.02%. The grid rectifier spread pattern was more reasonable and the CV of uniformity was better. This study demonstrated that the use of a grid rectifier to rectify the airflow field of MPGFS can effectively improve its spreading uniformity, which was of guiding significance for the design and research of MPGFS.

Characteristics of cuttings migration with new cuttings removal device in horizontal well

Cuttings accumulation in horizontal wells has become an important engineering problem. In this research, the influence of normal drill pipe and cuttings removal device on debris migration behavior are studied by using the CFD-DEM (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method) coupling approach. The efficiency of cuttings removal is evaluated by the cuttings concentration and cuttings removal time. In addition, the experiment is employed to study the cuttings migration law under different rotational speed of drill pipe, fluid inlet velocities and drill string assembly. According to the numerical and experimental results, cuttings concentration and removal time are obviously decreased by improving inlet fluid velocity and drill pipe rotating speed. The cuttings removal time with cuttings removal device is decreased in range of 32.9%–71.8% compared with the normal drill pipe. The reliability of the designed device is validated by results, which provides guidance for cuttings removal in horizontal wells.

Research on a new-designed Venturi ejector and dazomet particle motion characteristics for dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems based on CFD-DEM

To disperse dazomet, a commonly used soil fumigant for soil disinfection, over large soil surfaces, dilute-phase pneumatic conveying can be utilized. Currently, most research has focused on pneumatic conveying systems for large particles, such as coal conveying or pneumatic seeding However, there has been almost no research on the dilute-phase pneumatic conveying of dazomet particles. Therefore, a coupled simulation model based on computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) was established to study the effect of the structural parameters of the Venturi ejector on the motion of particles and airflow fields variation characteristics for the pneumatic conveying system of dazomet particles. Based on the Box–Behnken experimental design method, a 3-factor and 3-level response surface simulation experiment was carried out by selecting the contraction angle, throat diameter, and diffusion angle of the Venturi ejector as factors. The suction-flow ratio, average velocity of particles, average coordinates of particles in the vertical direction, and corresponding standard deviation at the outlet of the pipeline were chosen as response indexes. Multiple linear regression models were established between each factor and response index. The simulation results showed that the impact of factors on the 4 response indexes from strong to weak were throat diameter, contraction angle, and diffusion angle. With decreasing throat diameter, the suction flow ratio and average velocity of the particles increased. The average coordinates of the particles in the vertical direction decreased, while the standard deviation increased, indicating that the pneumatic conveying performance of the system increased. The optimal structural parameters for the contraction angle, throat diameter, and diffusion angle were 34.5°, 15 mm, and 12.0°, respectively. The experimental results demonstrated that the application precisions of the optimised Venturi ejector were 99.23%, 98.46%, and 98.56% at application rates of 15, 20, and 25 g/s, respectively. The results provide a theoretical reference for the structural optimisation of the Venturi ejector and operational performance evaluation of the pneumatic conveying system for dazomet particles.

Suspension characteristics of the coal-quartz dust mixture in the working environment during the fully mechanized mining process.

Dust exposures during mining activity can result in lung diseases such as coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP) and silicosis, and it is closely related to quartz dust. In the present study, coal-quartz dust mixture were investigated considering the particle size and the specific constituents. Multiple numerical techniques, including computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM), hard sphere model, and direct Monte Carlo simulation (DSMC), were presented, and the dust diffusion processes were investigated. According to the validation of the numerical method, the suspension characteristics of the polydisperse mixed dust were analyzed in detail. The results show that PM10 responds quickly, has a large diffusion range, and is easily affected by the reflux. The particle size increases gradually from top to bottom. When the air velocity is low, the percentage of coal dust in the breathing zone tends to be 50%. The results provide theoretical guidance for the comprehensive prevention of the mixed dust in underground coal mines.

Analysis of gas-solid two-phase flow characteristics of mobile shot blasting machine recovery device based on CFD-DEM

The shot blasting machine recovery device is an important part of the operation of the shot blasting machine to recover solid particles and reduce environmental pollution. The recovery efficiency of solid particles has an important influence on their processing efficiency and service life. The computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) simulation method is applied to study the gas-solid two-phase flow characteristics and solid particle recovery efficiency of shot pellet recovery unit. The results show that the simulation results of outlet and inlet wind speeds and pressures are in good agreement with the experimental data, which verifies the accuracy of the simulation model. The existence of particle phase divides the recovery pipeline into inner high-speed flow area and outer low-speed flow area, which has little influence on the air flow distribution inside the recovery bin. The results of solid particle recovery efficiency show that with the increase of incident angle, the recovery efficiency of waste particles and shot particles first decreases and then increases, and the recovery efficiency is the lowest when the incident angle is 30°. With the increase of particle formation rate, the efficiency of shot recovery first increases and then decreases. When the particle formation rate is 2000 n/s, the efficiency of shot recovery is the highest, which has little influence on the efficiency of waste recovery.

Study on Flow Characteristics of Hydraulic Suction of Seabed Ore Particles

Efficient and environmentally friendly ore collecting operation requires that the ore collecting head can provide just enough suction to start the ore particles in different working conditions. In this work, computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) is used to simulate the hydraulic suction process of ore particles. After analyzing the pressure and velocity characteristics of the flow field, the effects of different suction velocities on the lateral displacement offset, drag coefficient Cd and Reynolds number Rep of particles are studied. It is determined that the lifting force is caused by the different flow velocities of the upper and lower flow fields; particle start-up time and the lateral offset are inversely proportional to suction speed. When h/d ≥ 2.25, the vertical force on particles is no longer affected by h/d. When S/d = 2.5, FZ decreases to 0 N; when h/d increases from 1.5 to 1.75, FZ decreases by nearly half. Three empirical equations for FZ represented by D/d, h/d, and S/d are obtained. After integrating the above three equations, the functional relationship of FZ with D/d, h/d and S/d is finally obtained within a certain range. The errors of the equations are within 6%. The particle stress characteristics obtained in this paper can be applied to the establishment of ore collecting performance prediction model and provide data support for the research and development of intelligent ore collecting equipment.

Non-spherical drug particle deposition in human airway using computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method

Currently, the air pollution and the respiratory disease problems that affect human health are increasing rapidly. Hence, there is attention for trend prediction of the located deposition of inhaled particles. In this study, Weibel’s based human airway model (G0-G5) was employed. The computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) simulation was successfully validated by comparison to the previous research studies. The CFD-DEM achieves a better balance between numerical accuracy and computational requirement when comparing with the other methods. Then, the model was used to analyze the non-spherical drug transport with different drug particle sizes, shapes, density, and concentrations. The results found that all the studied factors affected the drug deposition and particle out-mass percentage except the drug concentration. The drug deposition was increased with the increasing of particle size and particle density due to the influence of particle inertia. The Tomahawk-shaped drug deposited easier than the cylindrical drug shape because of the different drag behavior. For the effect of airway geometries, G0 was the maximum deposited zone and G3 was the minimum deposited zone. The boundary layer was found around bifurcation due to the shear force at the wall. Finally, the knowledge can give an essential recommendation for curing patients with pharmaceutical aerosol. The design suggestion of a proper drug delivery device can be summarized.

Revisiting the empirical particle‐fluid coupling model used in DEM‐CFD by high‐resolution DEM‐LBM‐IMB simulations: A 2D perspective

AbstractThe work investigates the applicability of the unresolved Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method (CFDDEM) technique based on empirical equations for fluid‐particle coupling. We first carry out a series of representative volume element simulations using the high‐resolution particle‐resolved Lattice Boltzmann method and Discrete Element Method (LBMDEM) coupled by an Immersed Moving Boundary (IMB) scheme. Then, we compare the results obtained by both LBMDEM and empirical equations used in unresolved CFDDEM with analytical solutions. It is found that the existing empirical equations used in solving fluid‐particle interactions in 2D CFDDEM fail to accurately calculate the hydrodynamic force applied to solid particles. The underlying reason is that the existing empirical models are obtained based on 3D experimental results and thus are not applicable to 2D problems. Based on the simulation results, a new drag coefficient model is then proposed. The estimated drag forces using the new model are compared favourably with the simulated ones, indicating the good performance of the proposed model.

Numerical investigation on dynamic performance of vertical hydraulic transport in deepsea mining

Owing to great demands of natural resource and huge reserves of seabed minerals, deepsea mining technology has been proposed in the past decades. The most promising way to convey the deepsea ores to the sea surface is vertical hydraulic transport (VHT). Numerical investigations on dynamic performances of VHT were conducted by Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM). The convergence study on the pipe length, simulation duration, spacial and temporal resolutions were carried out, followed by the method validation through the experiments. The characteristics of particle and fluid were analyzed from different aspects. In most conditions, the local volume concentration of particles in the pipe is larger than the feeding concentration owing to the velocity lag of particles in the upward flow, indicating that instantaneous particle characteristics should be considered in engineering applications. Sensitivity analyses of transporting parameters and particle properties were conducted. Flow velocity and feeding concentration are two key factors dominating the dynamics of the mixture. A special range of particle diameter was recognized in which the particle accumulation was severe, whereas a proper particle size distribution would benefit VHT. Based on the numerical simulations, empirical formulas were proposed to have a rough estimation of particle velocity, slip velocity and local concentration for the initial design of VHT.

CFD-DEM modeling of filtration through conventional and conical geotextile filter systems

A significant contributor to retaining wall structural failure occurs due to inadequate drainage in the backfill. A numerical model based on a computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) coupled approach was developed to simulate particle movement in the graded filter zone and piping through the geotextiles. The model was used for conventional as well conical geotextile filter systems that use a series of woven geotextiles filtering a coarse-grained backfill soil. The model results were compared with laboratory results to verify the accuracy. The results indicated that conical filter systems contribute to higher soil piping rates but provide higher permeability than conventional geotextile filtration system counterparts. The model predictions compared with the laboratory measurements indicated that the movement of particles (i.e. suffusion) influenced the soil-geotextile contact zone permeabilities and caused a decrease in system permeabilities. A retention ratio, [Formula: see text], successfully predicted piping rates for different types of woven geotextiles with a percent error range of 13–29%. Overall, the model predictions matched the laboratory results within an order of magnitude or less, indicating the predictive capability of the model.

Behavior of maize grains on the three-dimensional translational vibrating sieve

To improve the working efficiency of the cleaning device for maize mixture with a large feeding mass and to realize rapid dispersion of the maize grains on the sieve, a sieve with three-dimensional translational motion was designed based on a cylindrical cam. CFD-DEM (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Discrete Element Method) was used to investigate the motion of materials on the three-dimensional translational vibrating sieve (3TVS). The results show that the dispersion degree of transverse velocity of particles (DTVP) is correlated with the radius and rotation speed of the cam table and the height of the cylindrical cam positively. It is increased compared with the planar reciprocating vibrating sieve (PRVS). The effects of different factors on 3TVS cleaning device were obtained. This study provides a reference for designing a multidimensional-motion sieve for a large feeding-mass grains cleaning.
