Risk management in Moroccan public hospitals: a literature review.

The objective of this review is to provide a comprehensive analysis of risk management practices in the healthcare sector, with a particular focus on identifying challenges and strategies in Moroccan hospitals. A literature search was carried out on several academic search engines using search terms reflecting the relationship between risk management and public hospitals in Morocco. The Moroccan public hospital is confronted with several disjunctions, which can be sources of multiple risks. This influences the quality of care provided to patients and can sometimes threaten their vital prognosis. The risk management process can help health professionals, researchers and risk managers to be agile and identify and anticipate risks in order to avoid serious accidents that can affect the whole organization, especially after the pandemic lived experiences (COVID-19). Protecting human life in an environment where risks are omnipresent is a dilemma that every hospital organization must confront. So, risk management in the hospital is not a simple process, given the interaction of several components and the sensitivity of the field. Risk management in this establishment must be rigorous because every error can cost human life. In this sense, the analysis of risk management processes in Moroccan hospitals, based on what really exists, enables the identification of shortcomings in order to master the risk management system and thus protect goods and services as well as human life, which is the ultimate goal of the hospital organization's existence.

Knowledge Acquisition and Audience Retention in Stroke Education: Results From a Global Study by the World Stroke Organization.

The World Stroke Academy (WSA), the educational platform of the WSO, provides high-quality stroke education to health care professionals worldwide. Understanding the learning needs and preferences of WSA members is crucial for effective knowledge translation. This study aims to (1) assess demographics and professional backgrounds of WSA members, (2) identify preferences in knowledge acquisition, and (3) evaluate audience retention during WSA webinars. A survey was developed using Qualtrics and distributed via email to all WSA members from May 8 to May 23, 2023. The survey included multiple-choice, rating scale, and ranking questions. Audience retention data were obtained from the latest 6 WSA webinars (May 2023-December 2023). Descriptive variables were reported, and χ2 analysis and multinomial regression models were used. A random sample of 1065 WSO members received the survey; 327 initiated it (participation rate, 30.7%), and 236 completed it (completion rate, 72.2%). The mean age (SD) of participants was 46.7 (±11.6) years; 57.2% identified as male. Most respondents were stroke specialist physicians (65.3%) and were based in Europe (35.2%). Online journal articles represented 41.6% of the total time allocated for stroke education, with 17% allocated to webinars. Social media usage patterns showed X (formerly Twitter) as the top choice (34.7%). Age, profession, and location significantly influenced social media platform use. Audience retention was at 50% at the 57-minute mark and 44.3% at the end of webinars. Tailoring WSA webinar content to meet health care professionals' needs and enhancing interactive components can improve audience retention. These insights will guide the future development of the WSA portfolio.

Temporal decay of similarity in bee-plant relationships throughout the day.

Assessing plant-pollinator relationships often employs a snapshot approach to describe the complexity and dynamic involving species interactions. However, this framework overlooks the nuanced changes in species composition, their interactions, and the underlying drivers of such variations. This is particularly evident on less explored temporal scales, such as the dynamic decision-making processes occurring within hours throughout the day. To address these gaps, in this study, we evaluated the temporal and environmental factors shaping the change of species and interactions (beta diversity) between bees and plants throughout the day in a coastal environment in Mexico. In general, we found that the changes in species composition of bees and plants were mainly associated with species turnover throughout the day, while the principal component of changes in interaction composition was interaction rewiring (reassembling of pairwise bee-plant interactions). This was mainly because a few species (6 of 47 bee species, and 5 of 35 plant species) with many interactions remain permanent most of the day, leading to rewiring being the most important component of beta diversity interaction. While environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity did not significantly drive the compositional dissimilarity of species and interactions, we observed that nearby time intervals have a similar composition of species and interactions. In conclusion, our study emphasizes the importance of considering shorter temporal dynamics in understanding species interactions during the day. These insights deepen our understanding of the intricate dynamics shaping plant-pollinator interactions, providing valuable implications for future studies focused on conservation and management strategies.

Effect of DM Interaction in the charging process of a Heisenberg spin chain quantum battery

Abstract We investigate the charging performance of an anisotropic XYZ model of Heisenberg Spin Chain Quantum Battery (HS QB) along with different components of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction (DMI) for three cases - short range, long range and infinite range interactions. We find that the presence of DMI enhances the charging power and total stored energy of the QB considered here, when compared to HS QB in most of the cases, by considering both local and collective charging protocols. The maximum stored energy increases linearly with the number of spins (N). An extensive scaling of maximum charging power with the number of spins is obtained in which the maximum power approaches a scaling exponent α = 1.846 for collective charging of the model consisting of Heisenberg spin chain with Y component of DMI under infinite range interactions. Finally, we optimize the performance of the battery by measuring the quantum energy fluctuations with in the system.

Empathy and Semiotic Narrative Practices concerning Art: A Cognitive Semiotic Approach to Aesthetic Experience and Emotion

This paper proposes a cognitive-semiotic approach to aesthetics to understand aesthetic emotion and its relation to the process of producing and valorizing art. The core argument presented is that the emotional aspects of aesthetic experience are integral to the processes of evaluation and meaning-making and that this interplay significantly influences individuals’ engagement with art, highlighting the importance of these dimensions in the overall experience. Therefore, the initial step in my approach is to illustrate that the process of meaning-making is significantly influenced by our active participation, as well as our interpretation and understanding of our own emotions and those of others. I intend to demonstrate that throughout this process, empathy is a vital component of the reciprocal interaction between the viewer and the artwork. In this regard, I will explore various concepts related to empathy, focusing on aesthetic empathy. Additionally, I will emphasize the correlation between aesthetic experiences and everyday life, explaining how a work of art can effectively mirror the core of daily life through a semiotic narrative practice. I believe that by exploring these narratives more thoroughly, we can achieve a deeper, empathetic understanding of both the artist and the artwork and that this understanding can lead to explicit and implicit responses to the artwork, ultimately shaping our overall attitude toward it. Hence, I will conclude that our aesthetic experiences provide us with opportunities to actively explore aspects of our narrative selves, which might help us understand how these experiences significantly change our relationship with ourselves and the social context we are a part of.

Fundamental Thermodynamic Aspects for the Effective Dispersion of Carbon Nanotubes and Improve Performance Grade of Bitumen

The application of carbon nanotubes to enhance bitumen properties is relevant due to the need to increase the durability of asphalt concrete pavements and reduce maintenance costs. Key areas requiring further study include the processes during ultrasonic dispersion, the selection of the optimal medium, and the stability of the resulting dispersions. This study examines dispersions containing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) Taunit M (from 5·10−4 to 5·10−2%) and various hydrocarbon plasticizers. For the first time, the change in Gibbs free energy, enthalpy (interaction energy), and mixing and disordering entropy was calculated based on experimental data (surface tension, average cubic diameter of MWCNTs, molecular mass, etc.). The data were compared with the storage stability of polymer-modified binders (PMBs). It was found that mixing entropy plays a key role in forming thermodynamically stable dispersions, while the contribution of disordering entropy is minimal. High dispersion enthalpy of MWCNTs can reduce dispersion stability at high concentrations despite entropy growth. Systems with selective purification extracts showed the best PMB stability despite thermodynamic instability. The property changes after 3 days at 180 °C were no more than 5%. This suggests structural changes from component interactions are critical, highlighting the need for an integrated approach considering both thermodynamic and macroscopic properties.

Study on the Influence Mechanism of Soil Covering and Compaction Process on Maize Sowing Uniformity Based on DEM–MBD Coupling

In the production process of maize, the uniformity of maize sowing is one of the main factors affecting maize yield. The effect of soil coverage and the compaction process on sowing uniformity, as the final link in determining the seed bed position, needs to be further investigated. In this paper, the parameters between soil particles and boundaries are calibrated using the Plackett–Burman test and the central composite design. Furthermore, based on the DEM–MBD coupling, the influence of soil coverage and the compaction process on the seed position of the seeding monomer at different forward speeds are analysed. It was found that the adhesion between the soil and the soil-touching component can have a significant effect on the contact process between the component and the soil. Therefore, the EEPA model was used to analyse the soil–component interaction process and the contact parameters between the soil and components were obtained for the calibration. Further, based on the above work, it was found that before and after mulching, the displacement of seed particles of all shapes in the longitudinal direction increased significantly with the increase in the advancement speed of the sowing unit, while the displacement of seed particles in the transverse and sowing depth directions decreased with the increase in the advancement speed of the unit. In addition, before and after suppression, as the forward speed of the sowing unit increased, the displacement of seed particles of all shapes in the longitudinal and transverse directions gradually increased, and the displacement of seed particles of all shapes in the direction of the sowing depth decreased; the disturbance of seed displacement by the mulch suppression process was not related to seed shape. As the operating speed of the seeding unit increased, the mulching compaction process significantly reduced the sowing uniformity of maize seeds. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the next step in optimising the structure and working process of the soil coverage and the compaction.

Purpose. The study aims to examine the psychological features of interaction between SES employees under conditions of continuous traumatic stress. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were performed: assessment of interpersonal interaction; diagnosing the personal components of interpersonal interaction; to determine the style of interpersonal interaction. Methods. The research used the method of theoretical analysis of scientific literature and empirical study of the problem using the «Methodology for assessing the personal components of interpersonal interaction» (S. Sitnik). Result. Analyzing the study, it is worth noting that in the process of interaction, all types of attitudes towards others are in a certain way connected by the motives of interpersonal interaction, the desire for acceptance, and the desire to establish and maintain relationships. There are also low communication needs, demand for attention from partners, disinterest in establishing emotional relationships, a desire to be among people, and the need to be liked by people, to be accepted into the community. Conclusions. The study allowed us to draw the following conclusions: interpersonal interaction of employees of external services is defined as personal contact that operates in space and time. The interaction took place through communication joint activities, and training, which influenced each other and built certain relationships. For the group, communication skills are the most important factor determining success in both professional and personal spheres. Interpersonal interaction was developed in the process of defining goal and establishing psychological contact.

Advances in the pathogenesis and treatment of pneumococcal meningitis.

Streptococcus pneumoniae is a common pathogen associated with community-acquired bacterial meningitis, characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates. While vaccination reduces the incidence of meningitis, many survivors experience severe brain damage and corresponding sequelae. The pathogenesis of pneumococcal meningitis has not been fully elucidated. Currently, meningitis requires bacterial disruption of the blood - brain barrier, a process that involves the interaction of bacterial surface components with host cells and various inflammatory responses. This review delineates the global prevalence, pathogenesis, and treatment strategies of pneumococcal meningitis. The objective is to enhance the thorough comprehension of the clinical manifestations and biological mechanisms of the disease, thereby enabling more efficient prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.

The Gut Microbiota and Major Depressive Disorder: Current Understanding and Novel Therapeutic Strategies.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common neuropsychiatric challenge that primarily targets young females. MDD as a global disorder has a multifactorial etiology related to the environment and genetic background. A balanced gut microbiota is one of the most important environmental factors involved in human physiological health. The interaction of gut microbiota components and metabolic products with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and immune mediators can reverse depression phenotypes in vulnerable individuals. Therefore, abnormalities in the quantitative and qualitative structure of the gut microbiota may lead to the progression of MDD. In this review, we have presented an overview of the bidirectional relationship between gut microbiota and MDD, and the effect of pre-treatments and microbiomebased approaches, such as probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, fecal microbiota transplantation, and a new generation of microbial alternatives, on the improvement of unstable clinical conditions caused by MDD.

Theoretical study based on molecular docking to investigate the potential interaction of known antiviral food components with SARS-CoV-2 proteins

Many food components have antiviral activity, but in most cases, studies in the literature do not report detailed investigations of molecular mechanisms. We performed a comprehensive molecular docking study to investigate the potential interaction of several food molecules, selected for their known antiviral activity, with twelve SARS-CoV-2 target proteins (NSP3, NSP5, NSP7, NSP8, NSP9, NSP10, NSP12, NSP15, NSP16, ORF7A, protein N, and Spike protein). The results suggest that some molecules, particularly β-carotene, all-trans-retinoic acid (ATRA), epigallocatechin 3-gallate and kaempferol, can interact with SARS-CoV-2 protein targets. The study opens new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the antiviral properties of food components.

Modeling and risk assessment of workers’ situation awareness in human-machine collaborative construction operations: A computational cognitive modeling and simulation approach

Insufficient situation awareness (SA) among workers remains a prominent factor contributing to construction accidents in complex and high-risk human-machine collaborative construction operations. However, previous studies have not fully explored the impact of various internal and external factors on the formation of workers’ SA, making it difficult to understand the potential changes in SA and respond to its error risks in specific scenarios. To address this issue, this paper proposes a proactive analysis approach of worker’s SA and the corresponding error risk based on computational cognitive modeling and simulation. This approach establishes a perception model by quantitatively depicting the mechanism underlying workers’ attention formation. Bayesian network is employed to represent the belief propagation process involved in worker’s comprehension and projection of the situation. The Monte Carlo method is applied to dynamically analyze the uncertainty inherent in the formation of workers’ SA. To demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed approach, a shield tunneling construction project was adopted as an example. The results indicate that crucial factors such as stress, mental fatigue, and risk preference significantly impact shield machine operation workers’ SA, revealing dynamic changes and interactions of cognitive components within the SA formation process. The findings suggest that the proposed approach can serve as a proactive analysis tool to offer new insights for predicting and controlling risks associated with workers’ SA errors.

Colleges as anchors of their communities: emergence and agglomeration

ABSTRACT This paper argues that colleges anchor their communities by developing knowledge and skills within their region; establishing links and exchanges outside the region; contributing to civic, political, cultural, and social activities and networks in their region; developing facilities and amenities used by the community; and, contributing to their region’s economic activity. Particularly important are colleges’ development of shared, collective or communal capacities, since these develop communities as communities, rather than individuals and organisations as discrete members of communities. We use Durkheimian sociology and critical realism to re-interpret the concept of agglomeration which we borrow from economics to trace the evolution of the concept of anchor institutions. Agglomeration is a particular type of emergence of phenomena from the interaction of components, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We argue that colleges benefit their communities through the agglomeration of activities and organisations, from which emerge distinctive characteristics of their communities. This leads to the economic, social, and cultural benefits of agglomeration or clustering of activities within a geographic area. The accumulation of knowledge and knowledgeable people in communities increases the sharing of knowledge between people and organisations, and facilitates the generation and diffusion of knowledge.

Loss calculation and temperature prediction method for High-Speed amorphous alloy PMSM considering the coupling effect of Multi-Physical field factors

The correct prediction of the loss of amorphous alloy stator cores (AASC) is challenging due to factors such as temperature fluctuations, interference fit stress, and skin effect in high frequency environments. In the complicated operating conditions of high-speed amorphous alloy permanent magnet synchronous motor (HSAAPMSM), an accurate prediction of AASC loss is accomplished by introducing a refined modeling approach of iron loss that considers the interaction of several physical field components. This approach combines with the 3D lumped-parameter thermal network model to generate bidirectional iterative coupling between the temperature distribution of the entire machine and different forms of losses in HSAAPMSM. A steady-state temperature rise result from Maxwell-Fluent bidirectional magnetothermal coupling simulation and test validates the effectiveness and computational superiority of the temperature model that considers the coupling effect of multi-physical field variables.

The paper deals with the descriptions of modern educational paradigms as genesis indicators of innovative changes in higher education, which are determined by integration processes aimed at introducing innovative ideas, models and technologies into the foreign language training of higher education students. Foreign language and foreign language training of higher education students is considered in the context of the competence paradigm. The conceptual foundations of foreign language training and the structure of foreign language competence are highlighted. The purpose of foreign language training of higher education students is defined, which is to form skills of tolerant interaction, communication and life-creation in the youth environment on the basis of foreign language competence. It is proved that theories of communication, multiculturalism and dialogue are used in building the content of foreign language training. The essence of dialogical interaction, which has communicative, interactive and perceptual components, is characterized. Professional dialogue interaction in the multicultural/multicultural environment of the university presupposes a certain level of accumulated professional knowledge, facilitates the implementation of multi-vector tasks facing the future specialist. It is proved that social reflection plays an important role in the foreign language training of higher education students in the structure of professional training in the university environment. It has been found that the implementation of foreign language training for higher education students at a university requires the design of an appropriate creative educational environment, built taking into account the objective laws of the processes of learning a foreign language for the purpose of professional application in the future.

Color as a Key Factor in Creating Sustainable Living Spaces for Seniors

Color as a feature of interior spaces is a fundamental component of human interaction with the built environment. Therefore, planning the design concept of an interior space with attention to color choices is extremely important, especially when the users of a given space include individuals who require additional support and care, such as the elderly. The colors used in architecture and interiors play a crucial role in the well-being of older adults, influencing their spatial perception, behavior, and activity. With age, color perception changes due to the effects of the aging process on vision. Visual deficits lead to shifts in sensory perception, which can, in turn, affect the sense of well-being, often creating a heightened sense of uncertainty. These changes in color perception due to aging may impact the color preferences of older people within their living environments. To create supportive environments for seniors, it is necessary to investigate which colors are most easily recognized, which colors are easiest to distinguish, and which colors are preferred by older adults. Based on a review of the literature and research findings on age-related changes in chromatic and spatial perception, design recommendations and guidelines have been developed. To supplement this knowledge, a survey was conducted among seniors to gather insights on their color preferences. Observations and analyzes of the survey results point to strategies for color use and underscore the importance of color in designing sustainable living spaces for seniors.

TCMT: Target-oriented Cross Modal Transformer for Multimodal Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis

Multimodal Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (MABSA) technology aims to utilize both textual and visual modalities to achieve Multimodal Aspect Term Extraction (MATE) and Multimodal Aspect Sentiment Classification (MASC) in tweets. Current research has overlooked the impact of noise from irrelevant regions in images on model performance. Additionally, there has been insufficient utilization of the textual information contained within images and the syntactic features of sentences. In this paper, we propose a Target-oriented Cross Modal Transformer (TCMT) for MABSA. The model consists of a textual auxiliary module, a visual auxiliary module, and a main module: the textual aspect-sentiment extraction module, the visual aspect-sentiment prediction module, and the textual-visual alignment cross-modal module. In the textual auxiliary module, we utilize syntactic features to assist the model in identifying the boundaries of multi-word aspect terms and employ Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to capture textual information contained within images. In the visual auxiliary module, we employ Adjective-Noun Pairs (ANPs) detection for supervised training of images. Additionally, we have improved the cross-modal Transformer structure by designing a GCN-based Transformer in the textual auxiliary module to learn syntactic graphs, and a CNN-based Transformer in the visual auxiliary module to focus more on important information in images. In the cross-modal MABSA module, we design a target-oriented interaction component to facilitate modal interaction learning and mitigate the impact of image noise, along with an alignment auxiliary component to optimize modal alignment training. We conducted extensive experiments on two publicly available benchmark datasets. The results demonstrate that the performance of the TCMT model is significantly superior to that of the baseline model, achieving state-of-the-art results. Both the textual auxiliary module and the visual auxiliary module effectively assist the cross-modal MABSA module in completing the task more efficiently.

Strengthening Maternal and Child Health Services: Evaluating the KIA Book Training Program for Posyandu Cadres

This study explores the effects of a comprehensive training program on the skills, knowledge, and motivation of Posyandu cadres in Guntung Manggis, Banjarbaru, Indonesia—a region with notably high maternal and infant mortality rates. The sample included 68 Posyandu cadres, divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group underwent an interactive, hands-on training program, which led to significant improvements in knowledge and practical skills compared to the control group. Post-training, the intervention group’s mean skills score increased from 48.24 ± 6.47 to 74.15 ± 7.85, while the control group showed no significant change. These findings suggest that comprehensive training programs, which incorporate practical and interactive components, are more effective than traditional lecture-based methods in enhancing cadre competencies. It is recommended that health authorities consider adopting such training programs on a larger scale, particularly in high-need areas, as a strategy to improve maternal and child health outcomes and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

Extracellular Matrix as a Target in Melanoma Therapy: From Hypothesis to Clinical Trials.

Melanoma is a malignant, highly metastatic neoplasm showing increasing morbidity and mortality. Tumor invasion and angiogenesis are based on remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Selective inhibition of functional components of cell-ECM interaction, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and integrins, may inhibit tumor progression and enhance the efficacy of combination treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), chemotherapy, or immunotherapy. In this review, we combine the results of different approaches targeting extracellular matrix elements in melanoma in preclinical and clinical studies. The identified limitations of many approaches, including side effects, low selectivity, and toxicity, indicate the need for further studies to optimize therapy. Nevertheless, significant progress in expanding our understanding of tumor biology and the development of targeted therapies holds great promise for the early approaches developed several decades ago to inhibit metastasis through ECM targeting.

Exploring the application of molecular simulation technology in food sector: Focusing on food component interactions and food quality

The intricate interactions between component molecules that occur during food processing and storage are challenging to elucidate with traditional experimental techniques at the molecular level. Molecular simulation technology, conversely, offer an expedient methodology for investigating these molecular behaviors and anticipating macroscopic experimental phenomena. This review outlines the fundamental principles of molecular simulation techniques commonly employed in the field of food science and their associated computational procedures. It also examines their applications in the context of food component interactions and the quality control of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. This technique can be employed to elucidate the interactions between food nutrients, facilitate the rapid detection of pesticide and veterinary drug residues, identify foodborne pathogens and biotoxins, and conduct molecular mechanism analysis of toxicological effects at the atomic and molecular levels. By dynamically characterizing changes in molecular conformation, electron transfer and bonding processes, molecular simulation has become an important tool for optimizing food processing and storage conditions. Further studies should investigate the relationship between molecular conformational changes and food quality in greater depth and seek to optimize the application of molecular simulation in food science in order to provide critical insights into practical operations.
