Cu−Ti−O catalyst for complex purification of gases

Cu−Ti−O catalysts activity in the reactions of complete oxidation of CO and C4H10, selective catalytic reduction of NO by ammonia, SO2 oxidation to SO3, as well as the catalyst resistance to sulfur poisoning were studied. We suggest these catalysts for the combined removal of NO, CO and toxic organics from flue gases.

Catalytic activity and sensitivity of CoAl 2O 4 towards sulphur dioxide during oxidation of carbon monoxide

A solid phase reaction between Co(NO 3) 2·6H 2O and Al 2O 3 is used to obtain CoAl 2O 4 whose activity in the complete oxidation of CO and stability with respect to the catalytic poison SO 2 are investigated. The activation energy of oxidation in the absence of SO 2 and in its presence after a 6 h reaction is determined. It is established that CoAl 2O 4 is stable towards SO 2 and its catalytic activity in the oxidation of CO is commensurable with the activity of a platinum catalyst.

Procedure for testing CO oxidation promoters in laboratory units

This article proposes a procedure for studying the dependence of the relative conversion of CO to CO/sub 2/ on the content of the promoter KO-4 or KO-9 in a sample of catalyst that had been precoked to a carbon content of 3.5% by weight. It is determined that as the content of the promoter dropped from 1% to 0.1% by weight, the relative conversion of CO to CO/sub 2/ changed very little. The goals of the experiments in a reactor with a vibrofluidized catalyst bed were to determine the approximate content of the promoter in the fluidized catalyst bed that is required for complete conversion of CO to CO/sub 2/, and to develop a rapid procedure for the comparative evaluation of the oxidation activity of promoters. The tests were performed under conditions such that the operating indexes of commercial unit regenerators would be approximated and complete oxidation of CO would be avoided. The high level of catalytic activity of the materials tested is demonstrated.
