Successful Management of Waja’al-Rukba (Knee Osteoarthritis) with Unani Pharmacopeial Poultice: A Case Study

Knee osteoarthritis (Knee OA) is the most common Musculoskeletal disorder, which causes functional disability thus, increasing the economic burden in society. In Unani medicine knee Osteoarthritis is treated with various regimens and drugs. Among these regimens, Dimād (Poultice) is prepared with several single Unani pharmacopeial drugs that exert anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-arthritic actions. Keeping this in mind a case study was conducted to assess the efficacy of Dimād-i-jalinus a pharmacopeial Unani formulation in the management of Knee OA. A 63-year-old female patient with chief complaints of pain and swelling in the left knee joint, joint stiffness and mild tenderness feeling severe pain while performing daily activity for the last 6 months was treated at OPD of Hakim Syed Ziaul Hasan Govt. (Auto) Unani Medical College & Hospital, Bhopal. Dimād-i-jalinus was given to the patient, in paste form and the patient was explained to use this paste over the anterior surface of the Left knee joint and the bandage was wrapped to keep the medicines in place overnight every day for 14 days. The patient was assessed at baseline, 7th day and 14th day based on changes in subjective and objective parameters with the help of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC). The present study reveals that Dimād-i-jalinus is safe and effective in treating Knee OA without any side effects. Therefore, further randomized clinical studies need to be carried out to validate the effectiveness of Dimād-i-jalinus in the management of Knee OA.

Comparison of trunk muscle endurance between women with and without chronic neck pain

PurposeTo compare trunk flexor, extensor, and lateral flexor muscle endurance between women with moderate to severe disability due to chronic neck pain (CNP) and asymptomatic women. DesignObservational case-control study. MethodsThirty women with CNP and Neck Disability Index scores ranging from 30% to 70% and 28 asymptomatic women were included. The visual analog scale was used to assess neck pain intensity at rest and during activity. To assess trunk muscles endurance, trunk flexor endurance test, Sorensen test, and side bridge endurance test were performed. ResultsAnalysis of covariance indicated that neck pain group had lower body mass index-adjusted endurance times of trunk flexor, extensor, and lateral flexor muscles with large effect sizes (p < .001, η2 = 0.378-0.696). Trunk flexor endurance time showed a moderately negative correlation with neck pain intensity at rest and a weakly negative correlation with neck disability score (r = –460 and –365, p < .05). ConclusionsWomen with moderate to severe disability due to CNP exhibited decreased trunk muscle endurance, which may be a predisposing factor for low back pain. Also, trunk flexor endurance was related to neck pain complaints. A holistic approach, addressing the entire spine rather than focusing solely on the cervical region, might be useful for managing CNP. Clinical ImplicationsThe findings of reduced endurance in trunk muscles should be considered when incorporating interventions in the management of CNP to effectively address pain and disability.

Background: Low back pain is the most common musculoskeletal complaint and the leading cause of disability worldwide, with a prevalence ranging from 20% to 33% among all patients with musculoskeletal pain. Low back pain is not only experienced by the elderly but can also occur across all age categories, including the productive adult age group. Factors that may contribute to low back pain include age, length of service, workload, and duration of work. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between age, length of service, workload, and work duration with complaints of low back pain. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of all laborers at the Makassar Health Quarantine Center. The sample comprises 133 respondents from the population of laborers working at the Makassar Health Quarantine Center. The sampling technique used is random sampling with the Slovin formula. The measuring instrument used is the Numeric Rating Scale questionnaire. The statistical test employed is the Chi-Square Test, with Fisher's Exact Test as an alternative. Findings: The results of the study show a significant relationship between age (p-value ρ=0.000&lt;0.05), length of service (ρ=0.000&lt;0.05), workload (ρ=0.009&lt;0.05), and work duration (ρ=0.000&lt;0.05) with complaints of low back pain among laborers. Conclusion: The study concludes that there is a relationship between age, length of service, workload, and work duration with complaints of low back pain among laborers at the Makassar Health Quarantine Center. It is recommended that the Makassar Health Quarantine Center conduct regular medical check-ups for laborers, provide adequate work hours, and monitor and reduce the burden lifted by laborers.

FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KELUHAN NYERI OTOT PADA PEKERJA PEMBUAT GENTENG

The job of making traditional roof tiles is a job that is at risk of experiencing complaints of muscle pain because the work process relies heavily on the intensive use of the body's muscles. Apart from that, there are work activities that cause unergonomic work postures, such as standing for long periods, repetitive bending and twisting movements, as well as the process of lifting and carrying roof tiles for a long time. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between risk factors and complaints of muscle pain in roof tile workers at RT 04 RW 04 Dusun Sarip, Karangasem. This research was conducted from February 2023 to April 2023. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were all workers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research sample was 61 people. The results showed that gender (p=0.126), body mass index (p=0.111), and smoking habits (p=0.993) had no relationship with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), while age (p=0.001), length of service (p=0.002), Physical workload (p=0.011) and work posture (p=0.000) have a relationship with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The conclusion of this research is that age, physical workload, and work posture are related to complaints of muscle pain in roof tile workers.

Case Report : Hepatic Cirrhosis and Nephrolithiasis

Liver cirrhosis and nephrolithiasis are significant health problems with different pathophysiological mechanisms. Liver cirrhosis, the final stage of chronic liver disease, is characterized by fibrosis and regenerative nodules, leading to severe complications, including portal hypertension and liver failure. Nephrolithiasis, commonly known as kidney stones, is a common urological condition characterized by the formation of stones in the renal system. Although these conditions are distinct, metabolic and physiological changes in cirrhotic patients may predispose to nephrolithiasis. It was reported that a man came to the emergency room of RSUD Dr. Suhatman MARS with complaints of left-sided low back pain that had been felt for 1 week. The complaint was accompanied by shortness of breath which was getting worse over time. The patient also felt cough, headache, nausea, fatigue, urine slightly coloured like tea, weight loss. The patient has a history of untreated kidney stones. The patient has a history of hepatitis 31 years ago. The main objective of investigating the coexistence of liver cirrhosis and nephrolithiasis is to understand the relationship between these two conditions and to develop effective management strategies that can address their combined impact on patients.

Development of a virtual surgical plan for reverse shoulder arthroplasty as a treatment for complex proximal humerus fracture in an elderly patient

IntroductionFracture reduction, implant selection and tuberosity reattachment propose significant challenges in reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) for proximal humerus fractures (PHFs). It is hypothesised that preoperative virtual surgical planning (VSP) can improve implant positioning and tuberosity reattachment, resulting in better functional outcomes, reduced surgery time, and decreased complication risk. Therefore, this study aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a VSP protocol for RSA in complex PHFs. MethodsThe VSP protocol is developed using 3D medical image processing software based on CT scans from four previously treated patients with RSA for complex PHF. Next, the VSP was applied prospectively in a patient with a PHF planned for RSA. Evaluation was done using an expert opinion questionnaire evaluating surgical confidence, a comparison between implant positioning on postoperative radiographs and the VSP, functional outcomes and the Oxford Shoulder Score (OSS). ResultsThe study showed that VSP is a useful preoperative tool to optimize clinical outcome by digital fracture reduction, determination of surgical cuts, calculating implant size and height, and optimising tuberosity shape and reattachment. After two and six months, the patient showed good functional outcomes (OSS: 48/48 points), healing of tuberosities, and had minimal pain complaints. ConclusionVSP for RSA in PHF might create a more thorough preoperative understanding of the fracture pattern and implant and fracture fragment placement. Further investigative study would be required to demonstrate this.

Nursing Care In Ny. W With Complaints Of Abdomial Pain At Kardinah Regional General Hospital, Tegal City

Abnormal pain is a general term encompassing various health complaints affecting the area between the chest and pelvis (including the abdominal wall and internal organs), with varying intensity, duration, and pain points. The research aims to identify the application of nursing care for acute pain by providing warm compresses to a patient with the initials Ny.W, who experienced abnormal pain in the Lavender ward at Kardinah Regional Hospital, Tegal City. This study applied a descriptive design. Data were collected through several stages, including anamnesis (gathering of medical history), direct observation, physical assessment, and documentation. The research findings indicated that the patient's issue was resolved on the third day, marked by a reduction in pain intensity. Overall, the nursing problem was managed within three days through the intervention of warm compresses as a nursing action.

A comparison of self-triage tools to nurse driven triage in the emergency department.

Canadian patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) typically undergo a triage process where they are assessed by a specially trained nurse and assigned a Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) score, indicating their level of acuity and urgency of assessment. We sought to assess the ability of patients to self-triage themselves through use of one of two of our proprietary self-triage tools, and how this would compare with the standard nurse-driven triage process. We enrolled a convenience sample of ambulatory ED patients aged 17 years or older who presented with chief complaints of chest pain, abdominal pain, breathing problems, or musculoskeletal pain. Participants completed one, or both, of an algorithm generated self-triage (AGST) survey, or visual acuity scale (VAS) based self-triage tool which subsequently generated a CTAS score. Our primary outcome was to assess the accuracy of these tools to the CTAS score generated through the nurse-driven triage process. A total of 223 patients were included in our analysis. Of these, 32 (14.3%) presented with chest pain, 25 (11.2%) with shortness of breath, 75 (33.6%) with abdominal pain, and 91 (40.8%) with musculoskeletal pain. Of the total number of patients, 142 (47.2%) completed the AGST tool, 159 (52.8%) completed the VAS tool and 78 (25.9%) completed both tools. When compared to the nurse-driven triage standard, both the AGST and VAS tools had poor levels of agreement for each of the four presenting complaints. Self-triage through use of an AGST or VAS tool is inaccurate compared to the established standard of nurse-driven triage. Although existing literature exists which suggests that self-triage tools developed for specific subsets of complaints may be feasible, our results would suggest that adopting the self-triage approach on a broader scale for all-comers to the ED does not appear to be a viable option to enhance the current triage process. Further study is required to show if self-triage can be used in the ED to optimize the triage process.

Patient-reported outcome of lumbar decompression with instrumented fusion for low-grade spondylolisthesis: influence of pathology and baseline symptoms.

Low-grade isthmic and degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) of the lumbar spine are distinct pathologies but both can be treated with lumbar decompression with fusion. In a very large cohort, we compared patient-reported outcome in relation to the pathology and chief complaint at baseline. This was a retrospective analysis using the EUROSPINE Spine Tango Registry. We included 582 patients (age 60 ± 15years; 65% female), divided into four groups based on two variables: type of spondylolisthesis and chief pain complaint (leg pain (LP) versus back pain). Patients completed the COMI preoperatively and up to 5years follow-up (FU), and rated global treatment outcome (GTO). Regression models were used to predict COMI-scores at FU. Pain scores and satisfaction ratings were analysed. All patients experienced pronounced reductions in COMI scores. Relative to the other groups, the DS-LP group showed between 5%and 11% greater COMI score reduction (p < 0.01 up to 2years'FU). This group also performed best with respect to pain outcomes and satisfaction. Long-term GTO was 93% at the 5year FU, compared with between 82% and 86% in the other groups. Regardless of the type of spondylolisthesis, all groups experienced an improvement in COMI score after surgery. Patients with DS and LP as their chief complaint appear to benefit more than other patients. These results are the first to show that the type of the spondylolisthesis and its chief complaint have an impact on surgical outcome. They will be informative for the consent process prior to surgery and can be used to build predictive models for individual outcome.

Telemedical Direction to Optimize Resource Utilization in a Rural Emergency Medical Services System.

Telemedicine remains an underused tool in rural emergency medical servces (EMS) systems. Rural emergency medical technicians (EMT) and paramedics cite concerns that telemedicine could increase Advanced Life Support (ALS) transports, extend on-scene times, and face challenges related to connectivity as barriers to implementation. Our aim in this project was to implement a telemedicine system in a rural EMS setting and assess the impact of telemedicine on EMS management of patients with chest pain while evaluating some of the perceived barriers. This study was a mixed-methods, retrospective review of quality assurance data collected prior to and after implementation of a telemedicine program targeting patients with chest pain. We compared quantitative data from the 12-month pre-implementation phase to data from 15 months post-implementation. Patients were included if they had a chief complaint of chest pain or a 12-lead electrocardiogram had been obtained. The primary outcome was the rate of ALS transport before and after program implementation. Secondary outcomes included EMS call response times and EMS agency performance on quality improvement benchmarks. Qualitative data were also collected after each telemedicine encounter to evaluate paramedic/EMT and EMS physician perception of call quality. The telemedicine pilot project was implemented in September 2020. Overall, there were 58 successful encounters. For this analysis, we included 38 patients in both the pre-implementation period (September 9, 2019-September 10, 2020) and the post-implementation period (September 11, 2020-December 5, 2021). Among this population, the ALS transport rate was 42% before and 45% after implementation (odds ratio 1.11; 95% confidence interval 0.45-2.76). The EMS median out-of-service times were 47 minutes before, and 33 minutes after (P = 0.07). Overall, 64% of paramedics/EMTs and 89% of EMS physicians rated the telemedicine call quality as "good." In this rural EMS system, a telehealth platform was successfully used to connect paramedics/EMTs to board-certified EMS physicians over a 15-month period. Telemedicine use did not alter rates of ALS transports and did not increase on-scene time. The majority of paramedics/EMTs and EMS physicians rated the quality of the telemedicine connection as "good."

Qualitative and Quantitative Tests on the Ingredients of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) Fruit Extract as an Alternative Therapy for Infertility in Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a gynecological disease with complaints of pain, infertility, or both, up to 35-50%. The fruit extract of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, has anticancer prospects and is expected to have ingredients as an alternative therapy for treating infertility in endometriosis. To conduct qualitative and quantitative tests on the content of Phaleria macrocarpa fruit extract, which is expected to contain substances that act as an alternative to infertility therapy in endometriosis. Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) was ripened, and its seeds were extracted using 95% ethanol twice. The results of extracts 1 and 2 were combined and then examined by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). The research was conducted at the Pharmacognosy-Phytochemical Laboratory, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Qualitative test showed that 95% ethanol extract of Phaleria macrocarpa fruit contains flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and steroids. Quantitative test using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method obtained a flavonoid content of 131.51-189.89µg/ml, equivalent to quercetin, in 6 repetitions, with a wavelength of 510 nm. Phaleria macrocarpa fruit contained flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids and steroids. The level of steroids contained in the fruit extract of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) had not been obtained in this study.

A Twin Case Report of Xanthogranulomatous Oophoritis: A Rare Histological Finding

Introduction: Xanthogranulomatous oophoritis is a rare ovarian inflammatory disorder characterised by the extensive infiltration of foamy macrophages and chronic inflammation in the ovarian stroma. Background: We report two cases of xanthogranulomatous oophoritis, both of 34 years of age with complaints of chronic pelvic pain with infertility and with abnormal uterine bleeding. Aim: This case study aims to explore the clinical and pathological features of this rare condition while highlighting the challenges in diagnosis and management.

A clinical approach in the management of endodontic-periodontal lesions of endodontic origin: Two case reports with 2-year follow-up

Abstract The term “endodontic-periodontal” (endo-perio) lesions describe lesions with the involvement of pulpal tissues and the periodontium of a tooth. These cases regarding the diagnosis, management, and prognosis of teeth are challenging for the clinician. The aim of this article was to discuss two cases of endo-perio lesions in molars with large periapical radiolucencies. Two healthy male individuals came with a chief complaint of pain during chewing. During clinical examination, a deep periodontal pocket of 10 mm and 7 mm, respectively, was noticed in both cases, and large periapical radiolucencies extended to the apical region were confirmed by the intraoral periapical radiographs. Evaluation of the symptoms together with the clinical findings determined the diagnosis endo-perio lesion of endodontic origin and accordingly the decision for the management. The successful treatment outcome with the periodontal healing in both cases was observed soon 40 days after orthograde root canal treatment. Conservative endodontic therapy was the key to the healing of the periapical tissues in endo-perio lesions of endodontic origin. The clinical approach as well as the 2-year follow-up of those compromised endo-perio lesions showed that endodontic therapy resulted in the healing, whereas no periodontal therapy was performed and the initial decision-making was confirmed.

Amitriptyline and duloxetine attenuate activities of superficial dorsal horn neurons in a rat reserpine-induced fibromyalgia model

Fibromyalgia (FM) is an intractable disease with a chief complaint of chronic widespread pain. Amitriptyline (AMI) and duloxetine (DLX), which are antidepressant drugs, have been reported to ameliorate pain in patients with FM and pain-related behaviors in several rodent models of FM. However, the mechanisms of action of AMI and DLX are not yet fully understood. Here, we examined the effects of these drugs on the responsiveness of superficial dorsal horn (SDH) neurons in the spinal cord, using a rat FM model developed by injecting a biogenic amine depleter (reserpine). Extracellular recordings of SDH neurons in vivo demonstrated that bath application of AMI and DLX at concentrations of 0.1–1.0 mM on the dorsal surface of the spinal cord markedly suppressed spontaneous discharge and von Frey filament-evoked mechanical firing in SDH neurons. The suppression induced by the drugs was noted in a concentration-dependent manner and the suppressive effects resolved after washing the spinal cord surface. These results show that SDH neurons are the site of action for AMI and DLX in a rat reserpine-induced FM model. Spinal mechanisms may underlie the therapeutic effects of these drugs in patients with FM.

Case Report : Acute Appendicitis

Appendicitis is inflammation that occurs in the Appendix vermicularis where Appendicitis generally occurs due to an inflammatory process of bacteria. This disease is the most common acute abdominal surgical case. Appendicitis can affect all age groups, 16-year-old female patients with complaints of lower right abdominal pain since 2 days ago. The patient was diagnosed with Acute Appendicitis. The procedure is in the form of surgery, namely Appendectomy. The most common complication found in acute appendicitis is appendiceal perforation, either in the form of free perforation or perforation in the appendix which has been affected (infiltrates) in the form of a mass consisting of a collection of appendices, cecum and small intestine. If a perforation has occurred, then the possibility of peritonitis.

A Case Report of Synchronous Lung Adenocarcinoma and Systemic Mastocytosis

Systemic mastocytosis(SM) is an extremely rare disease and is characterized by clonal proliferation of mast cells in any part of the body. SM patients are prone to developing cancer. Although the relationship between lung adenocarcinoma and SM is unclear, they share similar mutations. A female patient in her 40s presented with complaints of shoulder pain and unexpected weight. Later, the patient was diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma. Additionally, systemic mastocytosis was detected while investigating her B symptoms and anemia. Induction chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel was decided as initial treatment. She did not respond to 3 cycles of this chemotherapy regimen. Radiotherapy with etoposide and cisplatin was applied as second-line treatment. Although the size of the lung adenocarcinoma was stable, her anemia, shoulder pain, B symptoms, and cachexia improved after second-line treatment. We present a case of synchronous lung adenocarcinoma and systemic mastocytosis presenting with B symptoms and shoulder pain.

Gulf War Illness Is Associated with Host Gut Microbiome Dysbiosis and Is Linked to Altered Species Abundance in Veterans from the BBRAIN Cohort.

Gulf War Illness (GWI) is a debilitating condition marked by chronic fatigue, cognitive problems, pain, and gastrointestinal (GI) complaints in veterans who were deployed to the 1990-1991 Gulf War. Fatigue, GI complaints, and other chronic symptoms continue to persist more than 30 years post-deployment. Several potential mechanisms for the persistent illness have been identified and our prior pilot study linked an altered gut microbiome with the disorder. This study further validates and builds on our prior preliminary findings of host gut microbiome dysbiosis in veterans with GWI. Using stool samples and Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory (MFI) data from 89 GW veteran participants (63 GWI cases and 26 controls) from the Boston biorepository, recruitment, and integrative network (BBRAIN) for Gulf War Illness, we found that the host gut bacterial signature of veterans with GWI showed significantly different Bray-Curtis beta diversity than control veterans. Specifically, a higher Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio, decrease in Akkermansia sp., Bacteroides thetaiotamicron, Bacteroides fragilis, and Lachnospiraceae genera and increase in Blautia, Streptococcus, Klebsiella, and Clostridium genera, that are associated with gut, immune, and brain health, were shown. Further, using MaAsLin and Boruta algorithms, Coprococcus and Eisenbergiella were identified as important predictors of GWI with an area under the curve ROC predictive value of 74.8%. Higher self-reported MFI scores in veterans with GWI were also significantly associated with an altered gut bacterial diversity and species abundance of Lachnospiraceae and Blautia. These results suggest potential therapeutic targets for veterans with GWI that target the gut microbiome and specific symptoms of the illness.

Cervical cancer is a primary malignant tumor originating from squamous epithelial cells or cells originating from the vagina and urethra, usually occurring in the cervix or cervix which is located between the uterus and the sexual canal (vagina). According to WHO 2018, cervical cancer is the fourth leading cause of death in women throughout the world, estimated at 570,000, while new cases in 2018 or 6.6% of all cancers in women. Human papilloma virus or commonly called (HPV) is known to cause cervical cancer which can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, infection with several types of viruses, and personal hygiene. Symptoms of cervical cancer can be recognized by the presence of fluid from the birth canal, namely abnormal vaginal discharge, contact bleeding (bleeding during intercourse), and feeling pain during coitus / sexual intercourse as well as bleeding even after entering menopause. Early symptoms of pre-cancerous conditions are generally characterized by the discovery of abnormal cells. These abnormal cells develop into cervical cancer and then the following symptoms of cervical cancer appear; the appearance of pain and bleeding during sexual intercourse (contact bleeding), abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as bleeding outside the menstrual cycle, bleeding between regular menstrual periods, menstrual periods that are longer and more abundant than usual, bleeding after menopause, vaginal discharge excessive and abnormal, if the cancer has spread to the pelvis, the patient will suffer from complaints of pelvic pain, difficulty urinating, and enlarged kidneys. Cervical cancer can be prevented 100% by HPV vaccination, using condoms, avoiding tobacco consumption, and early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions.

An abcess is a collection of pus in an indefinite space in the body, an abscess can appear on the surface of the skin and can appear in the tissues of an organ. Abscesses occur due to an infectious process or from parasitic bacteria due to foreign bodies, such as splinters, bullet wounds, needles. Many patients come with complaints of pain, swelling, redness, fever and others. Therefore, to overcome this problem, it is necessary to take quick action to help reduce and deal with the problem of abscess disease among the community by using the clustering method do that it can help agencies in conducting socialization so that the communinty knows more about the factors that cause abscess disease and how to handle it. From this research courced at tha Binjai estate Health Center which consists of several variables, namely age, type of abscess disease data that often appears, the abscess disease data that often appears after doing the 2 cluster process is with age is 26-35 years, with the type of abscess disease is dental abscess, and the casual factor is not maintaining dental hygiene.

Evaluation of Varicocelectomy Operative Therapy for Infertile Couples at the UGM Academic Hospital

Background: Infertility is a condition of the male or female reproductive system characterized by failure to achieve pregnancy after 12 months or more of having regular sexual intercourse without contraception. Since 2013, Rumah Sakit Akademik UGM (RSA UGM) has providing varicocele therapy to infertile individuals. The Ivanissevich varicocelectomy procedure is used for varicocele therapy.Objective: This study intends to examine the management of varicocele patients at RSA UGM.Methods: This research is a retrospective study by opening medical records and interviews. The study population was all patients who underwent varicocelectomy surgery between 2013 and 2021. Data is presented in the form of graphs.Results: The distribution of varicocele lateralization showed that out of 35 respondents, 23 respondents (66%) had one side varicoceles and 12 respondents (34%) both sides varicoceles. The distribution based on successful pregnancy shows that out of 35 respondents, 10 respondent couples (29%) have already gotten pregnant, 25 respondents (71%) haven't gotten pregnant. The distribution of varicocele lateralization in respondents who have children shows that 70% of respondents are one side and 30% of respondents are both sides. Complications of discomfort revealed that 88% of research participants had no complaints of postoperative pain, whereas 11% occasionally suffered pain following varicocele surgery.Conclusion: Varicocele that is one side is more common. Patients with one side varicocele who have surgery are more likely to become parents than those with both sides varicocele. At RSA UGM, the varicocelectomy success rate is comparable to the worldwide success rate.Keywords: Varicocele, success rate, one side, both sides.
