Empirical Study of Cultural Industry Competitiveness in Anhui Province Based on the Diamond Model

Purpose: Cultural industry is such a profound emerging industry that developing cultural industry is the strategic task of building a modern and strong cultural province. As a strong economic and cultural province in China, Anhui province is rich in cultural resources and has a high level of economic development, which provides unique conditions for the development of cultural industries. However, the development of cultural industry in Anhui province lags behind other parts of the nation. Theoretical framework: This study, which takes the cultural industry competitiveness of Anhui province as the research object, examines the current situation of cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province based on the diamond model and presents a holistic approach to cultural industry competitiveness and then investigates the influencing factors that determine and contribute to the growth of cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province. Design/methodology/approach: this study selected 9 indicators as influencing factors to analyze the cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province, namely, total collections in public libraries (X1), collections of public libraries owned per person (X2), number of performance by art performance troupes (X3), number of students enrollment of regular institutions of higher education (X4), consumer price indices (preceding year=100), education, culture and recreation (X5), foreign exchange earnings from international tourism (X6), total investment of foreign funded enterprises (X7), local governments expenditure, science and technology (X8), number of patent applications for inventions of industrial enterprises above designated size (X9). Findings: The results showed the overall competitiveness factor and industry operation factor are determined as the driving factors. This study also puts forward suggestions to improve the cultural industry competitiveness of Anhui province. Research, Practical & Social implications: The study analyzes the current developing situation of cultural industry in Anhui province based on Porter’s diamond model. Secondly, an empirical analysis was performed to determine the influencing factors of cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province. Thirdly, on the basis of the above analysis, this paper puts forward suggestions for the development of cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province. Originality/value: The value of the study formulated differentiated policies to support and develop cultural industries and guide the investment directions of cultural industries in different regions of the province and promote the coordinated development of overall cultural industry competitiveness.

Factors Influencing Cultural Industry Competitiveness in Anhui Province Using Porter’s Diamond Model and the Mediating Effect of Government Support

Purpose: In modern society, culture and economy are closely integrated, with cultural industry gradually playing a more and more significant role for national competitiveness. Anhui province is located in the central plain of China of which cultural industry has developed faster and faster in recent years. However, culture and related industries still lag compared with some provinces and cities in China. There is an urgent need to improve the overall competitiveness of cultural industry in Anhui province. Theoretical framework: This study used Porter’s diamond model theory as the underpinning theory and examined the influencing factors of the dependent variable, cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province, with factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, firm strategy, structure and rivalry, chance as the independent variables and government role as the mediating variable. Design/methodology/approach: Based on a quantitative research methodology, the study utilized a questionnaire survey and manage to gain 536 respondents on the target population. Findings: The finding from the study show that factor condition and chance have unsignificant direct relationship with culture industries. For mediating effect of government support, again, factor condition and chance show unsignificant relationship to culture industries in Anhui, China. Research, Practical & Social implications: The study analyzes the current developing situation of cultural industry in Anhui province based on Porter’s diamond model. Quantifying the Competitiveness of Cultural Industry and Its Impacts on Chinese Economic Growth

One potential way to promote China’s economic growth is to develop a cultural industry and enhance its competitiveness. To confirm this hypothesis, this study first utilizes the five-element diamond model, principal component analysis, and factor analysis to evaluate the competitiveness of the cultural industry in the 31 Chinese provinces during the period 2013–2019. The results reveal that the competitiveness of cultural industry in the eastern region is the strongest, followed in descending order by the central, northeastern, and western regions of China. Then, the panel regression is employed to explore the impact of the cultural industry’s competitiveness index on economic growth. The results indicate that the cultural industry’s competitiveness is positively associated with China’s economic growth. We also conduct another panel regression analysis by examining the impact of cultural industry factors on China’s economic growth to gain insight into the influence of the cultural industry components on growth. In this analysis, our results indicate that cultural industry factors, including fixed asset investment and labor, significantly play an important role in Chinese growth. This study also finds that total patent applications, the total profit of cultural enterprises, and government expenditure positively impact economic growth, but the evidence is weak. Thus, these three variables could be considered potential future driver factors. The empirical findings offer insights into strategies that the national government could implement to strengthen the cultural industry’s competitiveness as China’s new powerful driver of economic development. Compared with previous empirical studies, this research deepens the competitive cultural analysis, increases the number of observations, and lengthens the period studied.

Cultural industry development from entrepreneurship under the background of rural revitalization strategy.

The implementation of the rural revitalization strategy can effectively inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture and facilitate the comprehensive development of the cultural industry. At present, China is promoting the transformation and upgrading of its industrial structure. The criterion for measuring the “cultural soft power” of a country or region is the competitiveness of its cultural industry. The cultural industry has grown rapidly in recent years, and the overall economic benefits of the industry have also improved, effectively alleviating the employment pressure across the country. However, there are still many problems. How to accurately measure the level of competitiveness of the regional cultural industry and enhance its competitiveness is the first problem in the development of the cultural industry. It finds out the main factors that affect the competitiveness of the cultural industry in the context of rural revitalization strategy using the relevant theories of cultural industry and industrial competitiveness. Besides, the evaluation index system of cultural industry competitiveness is constructed from the perspective of the system. The projection pursuit model and data envelopment analysis model are established based on the genetic algorithm. The model is used to carry out empirical research on the competitiveness level of cultural industry in a region, and conclusions are drawn. The average projected value of the base competitiveness in the region exceeds 0.8. The average projected value of dominant competitiveness exceeds 0.7. The average projected value of potential competitiveness exceeds 1.1. This research proposes corresponding suggestions for the problems in the current growth of the cultural industry in this region through the competitiveness of this region and the level of other areas. This study can also provide some help for the in-depth study of the Chinese cultural industry.

Grey Correlation Analysis of Economic Growth and Cultural Industry Competitiveness

The influence of cultural industry competitiveness on economic growth is analyzed by using grey relational degree method. Then, the influence of cultural industry on the three industries is analyzed and compared in the same way. On this basis, further from the cultural industry, the impacts of core layer, outer layer, and related layer on economic growth were compared and analyzed. Finally, the economic growth model is used to measure the impact of investment, labor, and innovation in cultural industry on economic growth. The results show that cultural industry has a great influence on economic growth. The cultural industry has an obvious driving effect on the tertiary industry. The correlative layer of cultural industry has the greatest influence on economic growth. Cultural industry innovation has a huge pulling effect on economic growth. The SPSS software was used to process the data, and the data indicators were screened. Finally, the grey relational degree model was constructed. Then, the improved diamond model was used to select the influential factors of the development of cultural industry, and the main influencing factors were found out through the grey relational degree analysis. This paper analyzes the factors affecting economic benefits and puts forward countermeasures. The results show that it is of great significance to pay attention to the development of cultural manufacturing industry in cultural industry and promote cultural innovation to promote economic growth.

An Empirical Study on the Competitiveness of Jiangsu Province of China Cultural Industry

Since the beginning of the 21st century, more and more cultural factors have been infiltrated into economic activities, which makes the economy gain new developmental forms and motivations. It has become the most fundamental, the most difficult to replace and imitate, the most lasting and the most core competitive advantage in a comprehensive national strength competition. Healthy and mature cultural industry is an important embodiment of the city’s soft power, so the development of Jiangsu local cultural industry characteristic will become an important part of local economic development. It is very necessary to vigorously support and develop local characteristic cultural industry, commit to promote Jiangsu excellent culture and improve the competitiveness of cultural industry.

The Application of Factor Analysis in the Study on Cultural Industry Competitiveness Evaluation Index System

Based on the premise of an existing condition data, using factor analysis methods to build a cultural industry competitiveness evaluation index system and evaluation model, the corresponding indicators in the model will be evaluated at the final evaluation results. Research on Market Competitiveness of Cultural Industry in China’s Minority Regions

At present, the development of China’s cultural industry in minority regions has the following characteristics: firstly, the gap between interregional zones and internal zones is larger, but the speed of overall development is faster; secondly, effectively promote the regional employment and economic development, but the industrial structure is unreasonable; thirdly, the cultural resources with characteristics is abundant, but the cultural infrastructure is backward.
