Since the 1970s, China’s economy has been changing rapidly, especially after joining the World Economic and Trade Organization, and with the increase in multinational enterprises, the development of overseas markets has become more convenient, contributing to the further strengthening of our economic power. The financial industry plays an essential role in the development of a country, and commercial banks are the leaders in the financial sector. They have made significant contributions to national economic growth. Under the background of substantial economic development, the economic management decisions of commercial banks have become more complex, which makes the risks faced by commercial banks increase continuously. The rapid growth of global informatization has effectively boosted the development of all walks of life. Based on the intelligent characteristics of big data, this paper analyzes the influencing factors of economic management decisions of commercial banks based on wise choices of big data, hoping to enable commercial banks to achieve the ideal expectation of financial management of “reducing risk and creating value” to enhance the competitiveness of commercial banks in the whole market.

Analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on financial technology (FinTech), interest rate liberalization (IRL) and commercial banks’ risk-taking: Chinese empirical evidence

ABSTRACT Financial Technology (FinTech), which drove changes in the financial business landscape during COVID-19 May 2001also contribute to Interest Rate Liberalization ( IRL ) and increase risk-taking by commercial banks. Therefore, it is important to analyse the impact of FinTech and IRL on risk-taking behaviour, and to examine whether the development of FinTech will hinder IRL. To analyse the complex relationship between FinTech and commercial banks under the COVID-19 lockdown, reduce the possibility of systemic risk outbreak in the banking industry, based on the data of 34 commercial banks in China from 2008 to 2022, this paper empirically tests the impact of FinTech and IRL on risk-taking of commercial bank under the COVID-19 lockdown. Under the impact of the COVID-19, IRL has pushed up the risk of commercial banks, which is not conducive to the stability of the asset-liability structure of commercial banks. Second, there is a U -shaped relationship between FinTech and risk-taking, that is, the risk-taking level is reduced at the beginning of the development of FinTech, and then increased. Third, under the impact of COVID-19, the development of FinTech has accelerated the process of IRL , intensified the price competition of commercial banks, and further pushed up the risk-taking levels.

Research on the Evaluation of Core Competitiveness of Commercial Banks: Based on the Perspective of Digital Transformation

With the full arrival of the financial technology 3.0 era, commercial banks have realized the importance of using financial technology to accelerate their transformation and upgrading. Studying the influencing factors of commercial banks digital transformation has important practical implications for commercial banks to improve their core competitiveness. In the respect of digital transformation, this paper uses principal component analysis method to evaluate the core competitiveness of some typical commercial banks in depth. Finally, it draws some conclusions that with the development of digital transformation, the scale, profitability and solvency of commercial banks become stronger. In this case, core competitiveness of banks becomes better. Driven by digital transformation, the scale, profitability and solvency of commercial banks show a clear positive relationship with the core competitiveness of commercial banks. According to the research conclusions, this paper shows that the development strategies of using digital transformation to improve core competitiveness should be different for banks of different sizes and degrees of development, but all commercial banks should pay attention to the advantages of what digital transformation can bring in improving core competitiveness.

The impact of digital inclusive finance on the growth of the renewable energy industry: Theoretical and logical Chinese experience

The development of renewable energy is the key to tackling climate changes and ensuring energy security. Meanwhile, the process is usually associated with a huge investment and financing gap, especially for transitional countries like China. Hence, developing and innovating the traditional financial system is urgent. However, existing studies have mainly focused on traditional financial perspectives, and few papers have critically examined how digital financial inclusion affects the growth of renewable energy industries. To this end, using Chinese provincial data from 2011 to 2020 and applying Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) method, this study explores the effect of financial inclusion on renewable energy and its underlying mechanisms from the production and consumption perspectives. It is found that the impact of financial inclusion on the production side of the renewable energy industry is significantly better than on the consumption side, and there is heterogeneity effect in different energy resource varieties, different regional locations, and different financial regulation intensities. The financial inclusion on renewable energy has a significant pulling effect in photovoltaic and wind provinces, but not in large hydropower provinces. Then, its driving effect is particularly pronounced in the northern region. Nonetheless, it is not significant for renewable energy consumption in the southern region. Besides, this positive effect cannot be achieved without stronger financial regulation. The mechanism of action assessment finds that optimizes the consumption pattern, increase the competition of commercial banks, and improve technological innovation all contribute to the positive effect whereas, FDI shows the negative effect. This study provides new evidence on China's achievement of the energy transition, suggesting the need to further improve incentives for FDI firms and to strengthen consumption-side guidance.

Competition Profile Matrix of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank

Applying the competitive profile matrix to analyze the competitiveness of commercial banks plays an important role due to the benefits it brings to bank managers in the process of forming strategies competition of banks. This article was conducted to build a competitive profile matrix of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank to clearly indicate the strengths and weaknesses of the bank compared to other banks with similar resources and models. Operations as well as business methods. To construct the competitive profile matrix, the three-step theory is applied. Combined with that, the questionnaire survey method was used twice. The first time is to identify the 10 most important factors affecting the competitiveness of commercial banks in general. The second time is to determine the weight and level of influence of the factors. The research results of the article show the competitive profile matrix of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank in comparison with four other banks VIB, TPbank, OCD and BacAbank.

Risk Analysis on Chinese Commercial Banks in the Context of FinTech Empowerment

In recent years, most commercial banks are facing the innovation of information technology and digital technology in the context of financial technology, showing a positive development trend. Under this positive development, how to use financial technology to identify risks and effectively improve the efficiency and quality of risk management will become the core competitiveness of commercial banks in the future.Therefore, Studying risk management in the context of China's commercial banks with FinTech capabilities is crucial.This paper collates and summarises the results of previous studies through literature research and finds that there are two types of risks that persist in most commercial banks under the technological empowerment of FinTech, namely liquidity risk and credit risk. In addition, two additional risks, namely technology risk and data risk, are innovatively proposed in the context of FinTech-enabled commercial banks. After explaining in detail the four types of risks, namely liquidity risk, credit risk, technology risk and data risk, a detailed analysis of the above two main types of risks, namely liquidity risk and credit risk, is conducted through relevant data. Based on the problems identified, the paper proposes measures for Chinese commercial banks to cope with the above four types of risks in the context of FinTech-enabled commercial banks. This paper not only completes the current research system and framework, but also aids Chinese commercial banks in raising the level of their own risk management, which would promote long-term growth of the entire financial market.

FOREIGN EXPERIENCE IN INCREASING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF COMMERCIAL BANKS

In modern economic conditions, the sustainable development of the state, the expansion of the economic sector and the achievement of a quality standard of living of the population is not possible without the effective functioning of the financial sector, which is the most important sector that ensures the vital activity of all sectors of the economy. The role of commercial banks as the driving force behind the development of the financial sector in the age of progress in science and technology has increased significantly and continues to grow rapidly. The article analyzes foreign experience in increasing the competitiveness of commercial banks and the prospects for its application in Uzbekistan. The purpose of the study is to designate the main directions in the field of increasing the competitiveness of a commercial bank. The results of the study can be used in the system of making strategic decisions for the development of countries with economies in transition.

FOREIGN EXPERIENCE IN IMPROVING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF COMMERCIAL BANKS

The article analyzes the foreign experience of increasing the competitiveness of commercial banks and the prospects for its application in Uzbekistan. The analysis showed that an integrated approach combining many measures is used to increase competitiveness abroad - legal protection of depositors and other participants in transactions, implying, first of all, ensuring the anonymity of customer cash flows, a favorable tax climate, promotion of banking products in all areas of business, reducing the share of overdue loans, a well-thought-out government policy aimed at attracting foreign investment, timely marketing research aimed at studying the interests of consumers, improving innovation of banking services, liberalization of the banking sector, etc. The results of the study can be used in the system of strategic decision-making for the development of countries with economies in transition.

Research on the Competitiveness Analysis of Commercial Banks Based on the Malmquist Index - A Case Study of 26 Listed Commercial Banks in China

Bank Competitiveness is a concentrated reflection of China's financial strength. Using the Malmquist Index calculation method based on the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) approach, this study analyzes the performance of 26 commercial banks in terms of operating expenses, net fixed assets, net interest income, and non-interest income indicators. Through empirical analysis, the competitiveness of commercial banks is evaluated from aspects such as efficiency change, technological change, scale efficiency, and total factor productivity. The research findings indicate that although commercial banks have shown some improvement overall in different years, their progress in terms of production efficiency remains limited. Based on the analysis results, suggestions for countermeasures are proposed, including optimizing resource allocation, promoting continuous technological innovation, optimizing scale management, and establishing effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

Market Innovation and Competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya

The dynamics of change in the business environments catalysed by globalization, changing consumer preferences, and the whirlwind development of technology have exerted immense pressure on commercial banks to introduce new approaches to enter new markets and exploit existing ones. Market innovation has thus become a vital tool for survival and development. This study examined the influence of market innovation on the competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya. The study was guided by the dynamic capability theory. The study utilized a positivist research philosophy. Descriptive and correlational research designs were used. The target population consisted of 175 directors and general managers of tier-one commercial banks in the following departments based in head office: Research and Development, Marketing and Communication, Customer Service, Credit, and Payments. Banks were classified into tiers through stratified sampling. Managers were classified into directors and general manager levels. Simple random sampling was then employed to select 122 respondents. Primary data was collected using closed and open-ended questionnaires. Reliability was tested by a pilot study done on Equity Bank. To ensure content validity, the research questionnaire was subjected to thorough examination with two university supervisors and two experts from the banking sector. The study adopted the Principal Component Analysis approach to test for construct validity. The study utilized descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis included the use of frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation while inferential statistics employed correlation and regression analysis. Correlation was done using Pearson’s product moment while regression was conducted using simple linear regression. Data collected from open-ended questionnaires was analyzed using content analysis. Results were presented in the form of tables, graphs, and pie charts. The study findings reveal that market innovation influenced the competitiveness of commercial banks in Kenya. There was a statistically significant relationship between market innovation and competitiveness (r=0.651, p<0.000) which indicated that there was a significant relationship between market innovation and competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya. The study thus recommends that commercial banks should embrace market innovation as a tool to achieve competitiveness. Market innovation should be enhanced by carrying out continuous market surveys, use of account cash flows to measure clients’ financial strength, regular reviews on bank marketing strategies to match the dynamic business environment, differentiated product offering, promotional campaigns on various media platforms, use of artificial intelligence technology to target new customers and use of intermediaries to onboard new clients.

The Difference Evaluation of The Core Competitiveness of Commercial Banks Under the Background of Green Finance

Green finance plays an important role in China 's green low-carbon circular development economic system. As the main body of practicing the concept of green finance, commercial banks ' innovation of the core competitiveness system of the banking industry has a profound impact on stimulating the motivation of China 's commercial banks to implement green credit. This paper selects the data of 23 different types of commercial banks in China in 2019, innovatively introduces relevant green performance indicators to improve the core competitiveness system of commercial banks, and uses factor analysis to score and rank the competitiveness of banks. On this basis, cluster analysis is further carried out to divide commercial banks into three categories. Finally, according to the analysis results, specific suggestions are put forward.

Managerial Innovation and Competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya

This study investigated on the influence of managerial innovation on competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya. This study used the descriptive and correlational research designs with the sample of 175 middle level management employees (directors and general managers) through stratified and simple random sampling. The study used a questionnaire as the main source of data from the field. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers through the reading of literature and previous studies. Data was analyzed using the descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlations. The bank showed proof of existing elements of competitiveness. Managerial innovation has a significant positive influence on competitiveness of commercial banks in Kenya. The study recommends that commercial banks in Kenya should continue to embrace subjects of managerial innovation. The study also recommends that commercial banks should regularly review elements that exhibit competitiveness and act accordingly for improvement. Finally, the study recommends that commercial banks should apply practices associated with managerial innovation in order to be competitive.

Product Innovation and Competitiveness of Commercial Banks in Kenya

Product innovation has thus become a vital tool for survival and development. This study examined the influence of product innovation on the competitiveness of commercial banks in Kenya. The theory of creative destruction served as the study's guide. The study utilized a positivist research philosophy. Descriptive and correlational research designs were used. The target population consisted of 175 directors and general managers of Tier 1 commercial banks. Stratified and simple random sampling was then employed to select 122 respondents. Primary data was collected using closed and open-ended questionnaires. A pilot study was done on Equity Bank. To test validity, the study used content and construct validity. The study utilized descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis included the use of frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation, while inferential statistics employed correlation and simple linear regression analysis. Data collected from open-ended questionnaires was analysed using content analysis. The results were presented in tables. The study found that product innovation had a positive and significant influence on the competitiveness of commercial banks in Kenya (t = 0.6.438, P = 0.000). The study thus recommends that commercial banks embrace product innovation as a tool to achieve competitiveness. Product innovation should be enhanced by carrying out regular surveys, seeking client views in the development of mobile and internet product innovations, and training clients on the usage of mobile and internet banking products before onboarding.

Prediction and Clustering of Bank Customer Churn Based on XGBoost and K-means

Due to the fierce competition of commercial banks, customers are becoming more and more important to banks. Therefore, customer churn has become a major problem that banks need to face. In this paper, XGboost algorithm was used on a data set of customers of a US bank from Kaggle to predict customer churn, and grid search method was used to find the best hyperparameters. Moreover, K-means algorithm is adopted to further subdivide the lost customers. For predicting customer churn, XGBoost algorithm achieves 0.84 in accuracy, 0.83 in precision, 0.84 in recall and 0.84 in F1 score on the test set. And the most important score for features in the case of the algorithm adopted are customers' estimated salary, credit score and balance. For the segmentation of churn customers, K-means algorithm divides these customers into 5 groups. These five groups of customers have different values for banks, so this paper puts forward corresponding recovery suggestions for their respective characteristics

How does the central bank recapitalization policy affect competition in commercial banks of Sub-Saharan Africa?

In the last two decades, central banks in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries have witnessed a trend of the recapitalization policy for commercial banks, and many more are bracing up to undertake the same reform. This has raised debates on whether and how it affects the competitiveness of commercial banks. Nevertheless, empirical evidence remains sparse and inclusive, especially for SSA countries. It is on this premise that this study, therefore, investigates competition in commercial banks before and after recapitalization for six selected SSA countries. The study employs the Panzar-Rosse model to analyze bank-level and macroeconomic indicators between 2000 and 2015. The results show that the H-statistic increased from –0.15, –0.28 and -0.82 before capitalization to 0.94, 0.97 and 0.7 after recapitalization for the first, second and third estimations respectively. This showed that bank competition is higher for the period after recapitalization than the period before recapitalization. The study, therefore, concludes that bank recapitalization could be necessary, especially for countries with low minimum paid-up capital. It is to the extent that banks can now be self-reliant with a higher capacity to invest, as this will significantly improve competition in commercial banks’ services. Business Model of Supply Chain Finance

Supply chain finance is a new type of financial product designed by commercial banks to provide financial aid for the weak medium and small-sized enterprises in the supply chain. It can effectively eliminate the obstacles of information asymmetry between banks and enterprises, but also effectively solve the problem faced by the medium and small-sized enterprises in getting bank credit loan due to insufficient mortgage, as well help them to improve the core competitiveness of commercial banks, eventually bring new profit growth for commercial banks and the third-party logistics enterprises. A Deep Convolutional Neural Network Based Risk Identification Method for E-Commerce Supply Chain Finance

With the popularity of the Internet, the rise of e-commerce platforms has led to the rapid development of supply chain (SC) financial services in China, and the competitiveness of commercial banks and core enterprises in the supply chain is now gradually increasing, rapidly expanding into an important area of competition between the two. As an emerging force rebounding from the economic downturn, e-commerce platform transactions, with their unique characteristics of informatization, diversification, and convenience, have provided a broad space for Internet SC finance. The article mainly analyzes the risk identification method of e-commerce SC finance, analyzes its risk from the financing process, gives corresponding data support for the matters or processes that may cause financing risk based on DCNN model, and takes Jingdong SC finance as an example and analyzes its main financing methods and risk identification process; based on different experimental comparisons, a multigroup experimental study shows that the accuracy of supply chain finance risk identification using deep convolutional neural network models can reach 95.36%, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method by providing better performance compared to traditional BP and SVM networks.
