Managerial Competency and Social Competency of School Principals in Improving the Quality of Education in Vocational Schools

Successful education in achieving school goals requires the competence of the school principal. Principal competency is the ability possessed by the principal in terms of planning, organizing, developing and supervising educational institutions to be able to utilize existing resources to achieve quality learning and quality education..The aim of this research is to find outmanagerial competence and social competence of school principals in improving the quality of education at State Vocational Schools in Banda Aceh City. This research uses quantitative methods. Questionnaires, interviews, and observation are all used as data collection methods. Both qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis are the methods of data analysis that are employed. The R-squared test, which shows that the management competency variable has an R-squared value of 0.893, indicating that 89% of the variation in this variable can be explained by the model research, makes it a powerful model. Based on research findings, it was found that managerial and social competencies have an influence on improving the quality of education in schools. In the meantime, the social competency variable is regarded as moderate because its R-squared value of 0.655 indicates that the model accounts for 65% of the variation.

Leadership training and character education for teachers in assisted schools is carried out to improve the quality of education through increasing leadership abilities and instilling character values. As educators and classroom leaders, teachers have a major impact on students' intellectual and moral development. Therefore, this training is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed so that teachers can become leaders and shape students' strong character and integrity. This program includes leadership theory, effective communication techniques, conflict management, getting to know one's identity, as well as strategies for developing student character according to the independent curriculum. The approach used combines active learning methods such as group discussions and case studies, so that teachers can apply the concepts learned in real contexts. The main focus is on developing student character through values ​​such as honesty, responsibility, empathy and cooperation. This training can improve the leadership competence of school principals and classroom teachers, create a positive school environment, and produce the next generation with strong character and harmony. Students are expected to be able to have better character in the future in knowing themselves, culture, the environment and nationalist spirit.

The implementation of learner integration and its challenges in a selected former Model C school: Learners’ perspectives

The purpose of the study reported on here was to explore the implementation of learner integration and its challenges in a selected former Model C school. This is an expansion of the findings of a larger study, “Understanding and enhancing of learner integration in a selected ex-model C school” by Theresia Joakim Kanyopa. Based on South Africa’s history, the term “former Model C” (also ex Model C) is still commonly used to describe those schools that were formerly Whites-only but are now multiracial schools. Learner integration is a major issue in global contemporary education practice. Contemporary literature on learner integration in former Model C schools reveals complex impediments. Some of the impediments are essentially beyond the capabilities and competencies of learners, teachers and principals. In this article we argue that the lack of an effectively designed practice is central to the impediments to learner integration. This was a qualitative case study grounded within the critical research paradigm, hence the critical emancipatory research (CER) theoretical framework was adopted. We used purposive and convenience sampling to select the research site and participants. Four Grade 11 learners (2 boys and 2 girls) were purposively selected because of their availability and willingness to participate in the study. Their ages were between 16 and 19 years. Data were generated through interviews and reflective writing. Importantly, to achieve successful learner integration in former Model C schools, we affirm that these schools must revise their practices, programmes and policies to create an integrative learning environment that ensures learner safety and an environment that supports, develops end enhances their academic goals. The findings from the study indicate that learner integration in former Model C schools can be successfully done by valuing the learners’ diversities regardless of their backgrounds, ethnic groups, status or races.

Pengaruh Kompetensi Manajerial Kepala Sekolah terhadap Kinerja Guru di SMP Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan

This research aims to determine the influence of the managerial competence of school principals at Al-Ulum Integrated Islamic Middle School in Medan. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The population in this study was 30 teachers, so the sample size in this study was 30 teachers, because the population was less than 100, based on Suharsimi Arikunto opinion, the entire population was used (population study). The main data collection technique uses a 5 Likert scale answer choice form. Data is analyzed using simple linear regression to test the research hypothesis. Based on the data processing carried out statistical testing resulted in Ho being rejected and Ha being accepted, which explains that there is an influence of the principal's managerial competence on teacher performance. This is obtained from the result of the Pearson correlation test which shows that the value is 0.512 > tubel 0.361 and the results of the simple linear regression test produce contribution Y’ = 100.242 + 0.322 X, so the results of this test explain that there is a correlation between the managerial comptence of school principals and teacher performance.apart from that, tests are carried out T-test which produced a t-count of 3.157 > t-table, namely 2.048, with a significance value of 0.004 < 5% (0.05). The results in the ANOVA table also support the acceptance of Ha, where the sig. 0.004 < alpha value or 0.05. So, the hypothesis simultaneously proves that there is a significant influence between the managerial competence of school principals on teacher performance. Calculation of the coefficient of determination shows that the principal's managerial competency variable is able to explain the student learning achievement variable by 26,2%. Meanwhile, the remaining 73.8% is explained by other variables not studied. From the results of these calculations, it can be concluded that there is an influence between the principal's managerial competence on teacher performance at Al-Ulum Terpadu Islamic Middle School, Medan. This influence can be seen from the school principal in making a defined plan, making decisions, organizing the resources they have, and carrying out evaluations to improve teacher performance.

Transformational Leadership Training for Vocational School Principals in Ponorogo District : Strengthening Professional Learning Communities

This community service aims to improve the social competence of school principals through transformational leadership training to encourage professional learning communities in the Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity era. The method used in this community service used an IGROW- based coaching approach. The target participants of the training consisted of principals and vice principals of vocational schools in Ponorogo District who were accompanied by coaches from the field of education management with expertise in transformational leadership and educational organizations. The evaluation of this training was conducted using questionnaires. The data collected from these instruments were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this activity showed that this transformational leadership model training was carried out well and smoothly so that the targets and outcomes of this community service activity could be achieved. Participants were active in conveying and elaborating on the leadership problems faced in their schools. The analysis of the training implementation evaluation data showed that principals were highest in applying the inspirational motivation aspect of transformational leadership. This aspect of inspirational motivation could include the principal's ability to inspire and motivate staff and teachers to achieve the school's vision and goals. This indicates the importance of the principal's role in fostering a positive work environment and motivating their team to achieve better.

Challenges in implementing instructional leadership: Insights from Turkish school principals

The growing international literature on instructional leadership notes that its implementation often varies depending on cultural and contextual factors. Previous studies have indicated that while Turkish school principals demonstrate some instructional leadership behaviours, they frequently do not practice its key components such as shaping teacher professional development, goal setting, curriculum development and instructional supervision. This study used qualitative research methods, including interviews with 33 school principals, to identify and understand the major barriers hindering the implementation of instructional leadership in Türkiye. Factors such as a lack of authority, beliefs about the profession, workload, community context, inadequate resources and principal competency are key influences affecting the implementation and effectiveness of instructional leadership in Türkiye. The findings contribute to a broader understanding of the nature of instructional leadership in diverse cultural contexts.

Pendampingan Penyusunan Asesmen Diagnostik pada Sekolah Dasar di Kota Samarinda

The Mobilizing Organization Program is a community empowerment program through government support to improve the competence of teachers and school principals as evidenced by increased student learning outcomes. This program was attended by 127 community organizations from all over Indonesia as partners of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, which was appointed as the implementer of this program, and one of them was the Yayasan Kasih Sejati Kalimantan. The activity period for this program starts from February – June 2023. The targets of this activity are school principals and elementary school teachers in the city of Samarinda, totaling 20 schools. This activity aims to provide understanding to teachers and school principals about diagnostic assessments which are part of independent curriculum learning. The implementation of this activity is divided into three stages, namely preparation, training implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The material provided in this activity includes cognitive and non-cognitive diagnostic assessments, stages of diagnostic assessments, time to carry out diagnostic assessments, and examples of cognitive and non-cognitive diagnostic assessments. Apart from preparing a diagnostic assessment, participants are also required to complete a worksheet prepared by the resource person during the training. In general, participants' perceptions of the assistance activities in preparing diagnostic assessments gave a very good response. Participants can also implement the preparation of diagnostic assessments in their respective schools, this is based on the results of monitoring and evaluation.

The Level of Social Intelligence and its Relationship with professional Competencies of School Principals in Jordan

The current study aimed to reveal the level of social intelligence among school principals in Bani Kinana District in Jordan, and its relationship to the level of their professional competencies. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method, where the study sample consisted of (98) individuals. To achieve the objectives of the study a "questionnaire" was prepared and used to collect its data after verifying its validity and reliability, and using the SPSS program to analyze its data. The results of the study showed: The level of social intelligence among the principals of public schools in the Bani Kenana District, from their viewpoint was at medium level. And the level of professional competencies came at medium level. There is a positive, statistically significant correlation at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average estimates of the sample members on the social intelligence level scale and their estimates on the professional competency scale. There are no statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average estimates of the sample members on all areas of the level of social intelligence & professional competencies among the principals of public schools in the Bani Kenana District according to the different study variables (gender, educational qualification, years of administrative experience). In light of the results, the study came out with several recommendations, including: - Number of training courses and programs for the development and activation of social intelligence among school principals. - Work to develop the professional competencies of school principals so that they can perform their duties and work tasks with distinction and mastery, which is positively reflected on the outputs that achieve the desired and desired goals of the educational process.

Hubungan Keterampilan di Abad 21 Terhadap Peningkatan Kompetensi Kepala Sekolah di Kota Gorontalo

In the 21st century, school leaders are expected to be able to streamline school administration, including developing the teaching and learning process. School administrators must have special skills and skills that are superior and different from previous school administrators. This research aims to examine the relationship between skills in the 21st century and increasing the competency of Gorontalo City school principals. The research method used is quantitative research with a survey approach. The participants in this research were 30 school principals in Gorontalo City who were chosen randomly. Data was collected through a questionnaire that assessed skills in the 21st century and increased competency of school principals. Data analysis was carried out using correlation statistical techniques to determine the relationship between these variables.

PERSEPSI GURU TERHADAP KOMPETENSI KEPRIBADIAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DI TANA TORAJA

The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of elementary school teachers in Makale District, Tana Toraja regarding the personality competence of school principals.The research method used is quantitative research with a phenomenological approach. This research was carried out at UPT SDN 3 Makale, UPT SDN 5 Makale, UPT SDN 6 Makale, and UPT SD Kristen Makale 2. The research population was all elementary school teachers in Makale District, totaling 209 teachers. Determination of samples using the Slovin formula. The data analysis technique is carried out by processing all data that has been obtained in the field and then testing its validity so that reliable research results are obtained.The results of the research explain that teachers' perceptions of the personality competence of school principals in Tana Toraja, especially in Makale District, are very good. This is shown in the teacher's perception of the principal's personality competency where teacher recognition is at a percentage of 71% - 96% strongly agreeing with the statement given while agreeing at 8.8% - 47%. This means that the personality competency of the school principal is in accordance with the mandate of National Education Ministerial Decree No. 13 of 2017 concerning School/Madrasah Principal Standards.

School management and organizational culture towards teachers` performance: The perspective of educational transformation

This research addresses the limited deep understanding of the direct impact of the School Movement Management practices on various aspects of teacher performance within the framework of a dynamic organizational culture in the continually transforming educational era. The study aims to examine the influence of school movement management and school culture on the pillars of teacher performance in this era of educational transformation. The research method is quantitative, utilizing a sample of 62 elementary school teachers selected through purposive sampling based on their involvement in the implementation of School Movement Management and their activities within the school's organizational culture. Data was collected through surveys and documentation, including trial testing of the research instruments. Data analysis was conducted using T-test and F-test. The research findings confirmed three points. First, there is an influence of School Movement Management on the performance of elementary school teachers. Second, there is an influence of Organizational Culture on the performance of elementary school teachers. Third, there is a combined influence of School Movement Management and Organizational Culture on the performance of elementary school teachers. This study highlights the importance of collaboration among schools, principals, the community, and supervisors to enhance the competencies of principals in School Movement Management and Organizational Culture. The results provide evidence that both aspects significantly impact teacher performance, supporting more effective human resource management policies in the context of educational transformation

Principal’s Managerial Competence in Improving Teacher’s Professional Competence

Improving the quality of education needs to be supported by improving the professionalism of teachers which will also affect the quality of graduates. In this case, the role of the principal is very necessary to support the success of the teacher professional improvement program. The purpose of this study is to discuss the managerial competence of school principals to improve the professional competence of teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Krian Sidoarjo. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study reveal that with the managerial competence possessed by the principal of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Krian in improving the professional competence of teachers, teachers have tried to carry out their roles to the maximum. By looking at the planning of programs to improve teachers' professional competence, school organization management, cooperation with vice principals, educators and education staff, control, find solutions to the challenges faced in improving teachers' professional competence and evaluation at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Krian. Establishing a KKG program for teachers also provides opportunities for teachers to continue their S2, PPG and PMM studies as an effort to improve teacher professionalism. This research is expected to be a reference for academics to continue to strive to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. Not only for teachers and school principals, but all levels of society to show their concern for education.

Αn ICT’s integration Model in the Educational Context and the Greek STEM education (1984-2006)

School heads in the modern educational and social context are called upon to effectively manage schools and manage a variety of pedagogical and administrative issues. The administration of the school unit is a factor of primary importance for its effectiveness and smooth operation. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the administrative competence of principals and teachers in the Prefecture of Achaia, according to the perceptions of school administrators. This research is the first phase of a long-term management competence program for newly appointed managers, following the recent executive selection crises, designed at the initiative of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Achaia. For the investigation, an electronic structured questionnaire was constructed, which was answered by 72 principals out of a total of 122.The results showed a satisfactory degree of administrative competence and managerial readiness, while the administrative competence of teachers is presented with a low grade according to the perceptions of the interviewed principals.

Pengaruh Kemampuan Manajerial Kepala Sekolah terhadap Kinerja Guru Sekolah Dasar di Gugus Lampeuneurut Aceh Besar

The quality of education in an area is influenced by various factors, including teacher performance. Teachers must work professionally to develop outstanding students. Teacher performance is believed to be related to the principal's leadership abilities. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of school principal management skills on the performance of elementary school teachers in the Lampenurut Aceh Besar cluster. This research is a type of correlational research. The research was conducted in elementary schools in Aceh Besar district. The populations of this study were all teachers who taught in elementary schools in the Lampenurut Aceh Besar cluster. The sample was then taken through a proportional random sample of 156 teachers. Data was collected using a questionnaire distributed to respondents. The questionnaire contains the principal's management skills and teacher performance. Research variables were measured using a Likert scale. The data obtained was then tested using the Pearson product-moment correlation test using the SPSS 26 program. The research results showed that the average management ability of school principals was moderate. This can be seen in the competence of school principals in the planning, implementation, organizing/management, and supervision processes. Likewise, the average teacher performance is also in the middle category. Teacher performance is evaluated using three indicators, namely planning, implementation, and learning assessment. The results of statistical tests show that the principal's leadership influences the performance of elementary school teachers in Lampenurut District. The better the principal's management skills, the better the teacher's performance, and vice versa.

Designing A Leadership Training Program For School Principals To Improve The Quality Of School Management

This article discusses designing a leadership training program for school principals to improve school management amidst the changing dynamics of education. This research uses qualitative methods by collecting data through observation, documentation and interviews from foundation leaders, school principals and school representatives in the three schools that are the research objects. The research results show that developing school principal competencies can be carried out with a comprehensive approach involving training strategies, skill building, and conceptual understanding. The quality of school management as reflected in school leadership greatly influences school performance. School principals have an important role in improving educational standards, but not all have adequate leadership abilities. With a designed program, school principals can become leaders who are adaptive to changes and challenges in the world of education. This article also emphasizes the importance of improving school management through effective leadership, with the hope of creating a learning environment that motivates staff and encourages innovation to improve the quality of education. Thus, this article provides valuable insights for educational institutions to understand the key role of school principals in improving the quality of school management.

This research aims to find out the competence of school principals in educational leadership and examine the leadership competence of school principals who are effective in improving the quality of education. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection and analysis techniques by searching for literature through several books and scientific articles as well as other trusted sources. A leader is a figure who can be trusted and fosters a strong sense of loyalty towards his teammates. Leadership is one of several factors that determine an organization's ability to succeed. The principal is the person who leads the school. Effective leadership to organize, motivate, and influence leadership in organizations, which also summarizes performance and success. As an action, leadership functions to help achieve previously established work programs. Leaders encourage their subordinates to do things. According to Hersey and Blanchard, the four main dimensions of the principal's role are delegation, coaching, direction, and support. Education is essentially a process of knowledge transfer that is carried out gradually, continuously and requires a long process. So in the process it is necessary how to manage so that it can run optimally. The purpose of this study is to determine the managerial competence of principals in improving professional competence and strategies of principals in an effort to improve teacher professionalism at SMP Al-Kamil Islamic Boarding School. This research uses qualitative methods with the process of data collection through observation techniques, documentation studies and interviews. Miles and Huberman are used in conducting data analysis including: presenting data, reducing and drawing conclusions. While the data validity process is inseparable from 4 validation standards consisting of: credibility, transferability, dependability and certainty. The results of the study found that teachers at SMP Al-Kamil Islamic Boarding School have professionally seen the teaching process in class even though it has not run as a whole. The managerial competence of the principal in ensuring teacher professionalism is consciously carried out through planning involving teachers, several activities in supporting teacher professionalism include workshops, training and supervision in an effort to assess teachers related to their responsibilities and responsibilities.

Competencies of Secondary School Principals in Cameroon

We investigated the professional competencies, encompassing both knowledge and management practices, employed by secondary school leaders in Cameroon. A total of 73 principals from both public and private francophone-sector establishments participated in this study, providing responses to a comprehensive 38-item questionnaire. Employing exploratory factor analysis, we identified five distinct factors (competencies) associated with these principals. The findings reveal that, beyond the conventional competencies linked to their pedagogical responsibilities and the management of material and financial resources, school principals have also acquired and refined skills pertinent to the effective management of school communities and the promotion of diversity within their respective educational institutions.

Analysis of Communication and Policy Information in Improving the Managerial Competence of Elementary School Principals in Banjarnegara District

The competence of the school principal as a managerial person who manages the school as an educational organization plays a role in making plans as a goal for the school as an organization that aims to achieve the goals set by all school members. In carrying out school institutional activities, it cannot be separated from the coordination of institutions in the field of education that provide guidance and design policies, in this case the Department of Education, Youth and Sports in Banjarnegara Regency. However, the implementation of communication and information which should be able to be established well has not yet been fully realized. This research aims to analyze communication and policy information in improving the managerial competence of elementary school principals in Banjarnegara Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by condensing data, displaying data and drawing conclusions and verification. The research results show that policy communication and information has been implemented well and effectively from the aspects of transmission, clarity and consistency. The school principal has good managerial competencies in accordance with the principles of leadership management, namely the ability to plan, organize, implement and supervise. In this way, communication and policy information can improve the managerial competence of elementary school principals in Banjarnegara Regency.
