The Impact of Work Motivation, Training, and Career Development on University Academic Staff Performance

This study examines how educational staff performance at a private university in Surabaya is affected by work motivation, career development, and training. Universities, as establishments of higher learning, rely heavily on the performance of their human resources, particularly their faculty. This study is pertinent in light of the critical role that instructional personnel play in facilitating the learning process. Workplace motivation, professional development, training, and instructional staff effectiveness are among the factors under investigation. It is intended that by analyzing the data, we will be able to determine the degree to which these factors affect educational staff performance directly or indirectly. It is intended that this research's findings would aid in creating regulations pertaining to higher education's use of human resources, particularly regarding raising the calibre of teaching personnel. In addition, the findings of this study can serve as a guide for future investigations into the variables influencing individual performance in companies.

Pengukuran Kinerja Industri Kelapa Sawit Menggunakan Metode Balanced Scorecard dan Proses Hirarki Analitis

<p><strong>Palm oil plantations are one of the agricultural commodities in Indonesia that play a crucial role in food availability and the economy. This research employs the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model as an integrated performance measurement system. The BSC measures company performance from both financial and non-financial perspectives. The study aims to measure the performance of the palm oil industry at PT. KMP Masamba, and covers four perspectives</strong><strong> </strong><strong>namely</strong><strong> financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth. The weighting of performance measurement elements is done using the analytical hierarchy process with the assistance of Expert Choice software. The results are expected to assist PT. KMP Masamba in determining necessary improvement priorities. The performance measurements from each perspective, ranked from highest to lowest, are as follows: customer perspective (0.148), internal business perspective (0.048), learning and growth perspective (0.047), and financial perspective (0.030). The overall company performance score is 0.543, indicating satisfactory performance and approaching high targets. Based on these conclusions, recommendations for this research include periodic performance measurement by the company to assess its comprehensive condition and improve functional activities with low performance, to improve their performance indicators.</strong></p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong> - <em>Analytical Hierarchy Process, Balance Scorecard,</em> <em>The Performance Measurements. </em><em></em></p>

A new model of the impact of quality management principles on return on equity

The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent to which implementing the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system (QMS) principles impacts company financial performance measured by return on equity (ROE). A questionnaire was developed and validated through a three-step process. A total of 316 fully compiled questionnaires were included in the survey. Spearman’s correlation analysis and factor analysis were applied to identify correlations between the implementation of the QMS principles and company ROE. Statistically significant positive correlations were found between all seven QMS principles. In terms of financial performance, each QMS principle has a positive impact on ROE, although these correlations are statistically insignificant. The implementation of the seven QMS principles is only to a lesser extent a direct element of company performance. Based on the research findings, an original model was developed proposing the QMS principles as elements influencing company performance. Further research is proposed to investigate QMS maturity, replicate the study in small enterprises, and develop a model of indirect factors that link implementation of QMS principles to improved ROE.

The Impact of Risk Management on the Financial Performance of the General Insurance Companies in Bangladesh

Objective: Proper risk management abilities are the keys to financial success of any company. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between risk management activities and the financial performance of listed general insurance firms in Bangladesh. Methodology: To investigate the impact, secondary data have been collected from the annual reports of the 42 insurance firms listed in the DSE for a five-year period (2017–2021). ROA, the depended variable has been used as a proxy of the financial performance, while risk management performance of the firms was analyzed using credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, underwriting risk, solvency risk management capacity of the companies separately and aggregately. Findings: The regression result shows that solvency risk management has significant positive impact on financial performance while credit risk, operational risk and underwriting risk management activities also have positive impact on firm performance. In addition, while the risk management has been considered in a holistic approach considering all the risk management tools in aggregate, the regression analysis reveals that comprehensive risk management initiatives show significantly positive effect on firm performance of insurance firms. Practical Implications: This study underscores the need for effective risk management strategies within companies to boost their financial results. Originality: Very few papers in Bangladesh have explored this area in Bangladesh specially in insurance sector. Findings of this study in the context of Bangladesh contribute to the literature gap and help the management to take necessary initiatives to improve performance. Limitations: Selecting short time period for analysis and using ROA as the only dependent variable for performance measurement are the major limitations of this study.

Corporate spin-offs and stock performance: a comparative study of pure and composite schemes

PurposeSeveral studies have examined the relationship between spin-off announcements and stock performance. However, a comparison of the announcement effect of different schemes of spin-offs remains relatively underexplored in the literature. This study aims to find the differential impact of pure scheme and composite schemes of spin-offs on parent company stock performance. A pure scheme includes only the separation of business into independent companies, while a composite scheme includes a simultaneous merger of one of the companies with another company along with separation.Design/methodology/approachA total of 109 pure and 51 composite spin-off announcements made by Indian listed companies from 2010 to 2023 are examined using event study methodology. The cross-sectional t-test is used to measure the significance of abnormal returns. The t-test for two sample means (right-tailed) is incorporated to test the significance of variations in the stock returns of pure and composite schemes of spin-off announcements. Cross-sectional regression is also done to evaluate the impact of the type of scheme on the spin-off return.FindingsThe study found a cumulative average abnormal return of −1.06% for the pure spin-off and 8.27% for the composite spin-off over a 41-day event window. The univariate analysis revealed that the composite scheme generates a significantly higher cumulative average abnormal return than the pure scheme. Regression analysis also confirmed that the composite scheme significantly positively impacts the stock return. It can be concluded that investors favour the composite scheme, expecting that it will deliver a better strategic fit and generate synergy.Originality/valueThis paper makes a valuable contribution to the existing literature on corporate spin-offs. The study by analysing and comparing how the spin-off and merger combination differently affects the stock performance, helps the investor who wants to capitalize on the market imperfections and the managers to make complex business decisions.

A Novel Hybrid Model (EMD-TI-LSTM) for Enhanced Financial Forecasting with Machine Learning

Financial forecasting involves predicting the future financial states and performance of companies and investors. Recent technological advancements have demonstrated that machine learning-based models can outperform traditional financial forecasting techniques. In particular, hybrid approaches that integrate diverse methods to leverage their strengths have yielded superior results in financial prediction. This study introduces a novel hybrid model, entitled EMD-TI-LSTM, consisting of empirical mode decomposition (EMD), technical indicators (TI), and long short-term memory (LSTM). The proposed model delivered more accurate predictions than those generated by the conventional LSTM approach on the same well-known financial datasets, achieving average enhancements of 39.56%, 36.86%, and 39.90% based on the MAPE, RMSE, and MAE metrics, respectively. Furthermore, the results show that the proposed model has a lower average MAPE rate of 42.91% compared to its state-of-the-art counterparts. These findings highlight the potential of hybrid models and mathematical innovations to advance the field of financial forecasting.

Financial Performance Measurement Using the Value Added Method to Determine the Effect on Stock Prices

One of the Indonesian government's policies since 2015 has been to increase development through its developed infrastructure, by increasing its budget for this sector from year to year. However, companies listed in the engineering and construction subsector on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, both state-owned enterprises and private companies, experienced losses so it could be said that their financial performance was poor. This study intends to evaluate the financial performance engineering and construction sub-sector companies using the Economic Value Added (EVA), Market Value Added (MVA), Refined Economic Value Added (REVA), Financial Value Added (FVA), and Shareholder Value Added (SVA) in 2018 – 2023 and determine their influence on stock prices. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research using E-Views 12 with a population 26 companies and a sample size 16 companies. Based on the results the calculations and analysis, it stated that EVA, MVA, REVA, FVA, SVA and stock prices engineering and construction companies, both state-owned and private, during the 2018 - 2023 period obtained an average of negative amounts. The research results show that the financial performance variables using value added have an influence on stock prices with influence of 74.57% while the rest is influenced by other variables not examined in this research. Partially only MVA and SVA have an influence on stock prices because based on the probability test using E-Views 12 it appears that only MVA and SVA produce results below the alpha. The suggestion for this research is that company management should pay attention to the company's financial performance, especially the MVA and SVA variables and further researcher can make comparative research between all value-added variables.

Dupont System Analysis For Measure Financial Performance At Automotive Component Industry In Indonesia

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the financial performance of several automotive component industry companies in Indonesia. The research used of descriptive-quantitative research method, the research of attempted to collect and present data from companies for analysis so as to provide a fairly clear picture of the object under study. The type of data used in this research is quantitative data, namely data in the form of explanations or statements in the form of numbers, namely financial reports from several companies listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange which are used as the population in the research, including; AUTO, ASII, DRMA, BOLT, SMSM, GJTL and INDS for the 2019-2023 period. By using the Dupont system method as an analysis method. Analysis of the Dupont system method also shows that factors such as net profit margin, asset efficiency and financial leverage influence the financial performance of companies in the automotive components industry. The results of this research explain how the dupon system determines between six similar companies providing company performance data in terms of Net Profit Margin (NPM), Total Asset Turn Over (TATO), Equity Multiplier (EM) and Return on Equity which can be used by potential investors in investing in automotive component industry companies in Indonesia.

Developments in the world of retail business require companies to have good marketing strategies to face competition. Impulse buying is a consumer behavior that must be considered when marketing products. MR. DIY is a company operating in the retail industry. Companies in this industry have intense competition. This research aims to determine the influence of a hedonistic lifestyle, visual merchandising, and price discounts on MR impulse buying. DIY Plaza Medan Fair. The influence between hedonistic lifestyle, visual merchandising, and price discounts will be analyzed partially and simultaneously. This research uses quantitative methods with 96 consumers as research samples, with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire using a Likert scale which was distributed to respondents directly at MR. DIY Plaza Medan Fair, while secondary data was obtained from literature study. Data analysis methods use validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear analysis, and hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS. The results of the research show that the hedonistic lifestyle variable has a significant effect on impulse buying. Furthermore, the visual merchandising variable has a significant effect on impulse buying. And the price discount variable does not have a significant effect on impulse buying. The result of the determination test was that the correlation coefficient (R) was 0.58, which means that each variable, namely hedonistic lifestyle (X1), visual merchandising (X2), and price discounts (X3) were interconnected with purchasing decisions (Y) by 58%. Strategic Management of Clean Energy Investments: Financial Performance Insights by Using BWM-based VIKOR and TOPSIS Methods

Market share of renewable energy companies increases with the increase in green-energy production. Companies increase their investments depending on the increase in energy production and can provide capital by offering the company to the public. Companies are traded in the exchange market in order to fund their increasing investments and access a large investor base. The increase in the market values of clean energy companies in recent years draws attention of investors. The study aims to identify key financial indicators that influence company growth and investment value by analyzing companies listed in the S&P North America and Europe Clean Energy Index. Therefore, the study evaluates the financial performance of clean energy companies using Best-Worst Method (BWM)-based VIKOR and TOPSIS methods to provide investors with a comprehensive assessment of investment opportunities in the clean energy sector. Also, the comparison of the two methods will contribute to the literature. The sample of this study consists of 10 big companies in S&P North America and Europe Clean Energy Index. Financial tables and exchange market data of the companies for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021 were used in this study. Remarkably, the analysis findings of the two methods differ from each other. The findings reveal significant insights into the financial health and growth potential of clean energy companies, offering valuable guidance for future.

Factors and circumstances affecting the business performance of firms based on new technologies

New technology-based firms (NTBFs) invent, develop, and commercialize original technologies whose research, development, and commercial success is highly uncertain and risky. Their growth is lengthy and often insufficient, but investors’ growth expectations are high. The study aims to determine factors and circumstances that affect the growth of new technology-based firms. The source of knowledge is a personal experience from a guided interview with the founder, which is recorded in the questionnaire. The research sample includes 67 NTBFs doing business in Slovakia. The respondents’ statements were analyzed using critical discourse analysis (CDA) with the support of artificial intelligence. The results are the factors that influence the business performance of the investigated companies. The performance of companies that show a long-term loss is affected by very limited access to financial resources, restrictive regulations, and a lack of qualified employees. The performance of companies that show a long-term profit is influenced by favorable access to external capital, effective management of human resources, optimization of internal processes, and improvement of marketing. The order of the identified factors expresses their importance in the thematic group. The secondary results are the accompanying circumstances of the growth of the investigated companies, namely the reasons for the establishment of NTBF and entry into business, commercialization of new technology, and cooperation with investors and banks. The combination of limited access to finance and a lack of qualified human resources creates a complex set of obstacles to the business performance of NTBFs. CEO pay ratio versus financial performance in Polish public companies

In this paper, we aim to investigate the relationship between CEO pay ratio and corporate financial performance in Polish public companies. Using a sample of 259 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, we demonstrate that links between the pay gap and accounting measures of performance differ from market ones. Our findings indicate a negative correlation between CEO pay ratio and return on sales. This implies that companies pay executives less during periods of high profitability, possibly to avoid the negative impact of excessive pay on firm performance. We also discover that the pay gap, measured by CEO pay ratio, is positively linked with Tobin’s Q and annual stock returns. A high CEO pay ratio signals strong incentives for top executives to perform, potentially leading to better strategic decisions and, consequently, higher Tobin’s Q ratios and annual stock returns.

Evaluasi Peran Economic Value Added (EVA) Sebagai Penilaian Kinerja Manajemen Perusahaan dalam Era Bisnis Kontemporer

This study aims to initiate the role of Economic Value Added (EVA) as an assessment of corporate management performance in the contemporary business era. The approach method used in this study is a literature study to assess the effectiveness of Economic Value Added (EVA). In addition, this study also provides practical suggestions for the application of Economic Value Added (EVA) and aims to deepen the understanding of corporate management performance assessment. The findings in this study indicate that Economic Value Added (EVA) offers a comprehensive approach by considering cost capital, providing a more accurate picture of the increase in company value. However, the use of Economic Value Added (EVA) also requires strong analytical skills and access to complete data, and must be combined with other evaluation methods to provide a holistic understanding of company performance.

Justification for the need to introduce a state classification of freight forwarders

The purpose of the study is to establish criteria for classifying freight forwarders. SWOT and ABC analysis methods were used. Problem areas of the Russian transport services market were identified and a classification option for freight forwarders was developed. A restraining factor in the development of any operator company in the Russian market is low trust on the part of customers. Often, in order to attract a large number of customers, firms take on obligations for which they do not have the necessary resources. The creation of a normative classifier of freight forwarders will solve this problem. Thus, customers will receive better information about the services, and operators will be forced to improve the quality of services by increasing the level of customer focus and integrating innovative technologies. Based on the results of the study, an analysis of the transport services market was conducted and a classification option for freight forwarders by levels was proposed, which will allow the state to collect statistical information on the current state of affairs and form a further development strategy on its basis. This work can be used to develop the transport strategy of the Russian Federation. The practical significance of the study is an option for amending the current legislation in order to increase the level of interaction between customers and freight forwarding companies.

Debt is Not Always Bad Even in Difficult Economic Conditions

The problem faced by the company is the use of debt that is not according to plan. The purpose of this study is to determine whether debt policy affects company performance. This study was conducted on manufacturing sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018–2023 with a population of 296 companies, the sample used was 73 companies for six years. Thus, the number of samples used in this study was 438. The company performance variable is proxied by (ROE) while the independent variables in this study are debt policy proxied by (DER and DER*KE), investment decisions (KI), managerial ownership (MNJR), and economic conditions (KE). The data analysis method uses multiple linear regression methods with SPSS software version 26. The results of the study show that the debt policy variable (DER) has a negative and significant effect on company performance (ROE) and the debt policy variable*economic conditions (DER*KE) has a positive and significant effect on company performance (ROE). This means that when economic conditions are supportive, companies that use debt to finance operational activities or business expansion tend to experience increased performance. Funds obtained from debt can be used for investment, new product development, or market expansion. Proper use of debt can increase a company's return on equity (ROE), as long as the rate of return on the investment financed by debt is higher than the cost of debt. Timing the debt decision is crucial. In improving economic conditions, companies can take advantage of low interest rates and increase production capacity.

So based on the above we will raise the research title "Performance Analysis of National General Insurance Companies and Joint Venture General Insurance Companies in Indonesia," This research aims; To find out the performance of National General Insurance Companies, to find out the performance of general insurance companies and joint venture general insurance companies in Indonesia, and to find out the differences in the performance of national general insurance companies and joint venture general insurance companies in Indonesia. This research method is quantitative descriptive. The conclusions are 1) Asset performance, equity performance, debt performance, revenue performance, cost performance, profit and loss performance, investment performance, technical reserve performance of joint venture general insurance companies have a tendency to increase from 2018 - 2022, while investment performance / technical reserves (%) Joint General Insurance has a downward trend from year to year from 2018 - 2022, 2.a) Asset Performance, Equity Performance, Debt Performance, Income Performance, Investment Performance, and Technical Reserve Performance of national general insurance has an upward trend from year to year 2018 - 2022, 2.b) but the performance of national general insurance costs has a tendency to fall from year to year from 2018 - 2022 then rises and then falls at the end of 2022, while the profit and loss performance of national general insurance has a tendency to be unstable from year to year from 2018 - 2022 with an upward trend, and Investment Performance / Technical Reserves (%) of national general insurance has a downward trend from 2018 - 2022, 3) The differences in the performance of National General Insurance Companies and Joint Venture General Insurance Companies in Indonesia are as follows; 1). Joint Venture General Insurance has better performance than national general insurance companies in; Asset performance, debt performance, cost performance, and investment performance / technical reserves (%), and 2) National General Insurance has better performance than joint venture general insurance companies from 2018 - 2022 in; Equity performance, income performance, profit and loss performance, investment performance, and technical reserve performance.

Perancangan Kebijakan Persediaan e-Commerce dengan Pertimbangan Permintaan Probabilistik dan Performance Score

Julis, a local company focused on the production and sale of perfumes through e-commerce platforms, is one of the SMEs facing such challenges. Julis has encountered difficulties in managing its product inventory, leading to high inventory costs and low customer order fulfillment rates (fill rate). These issues risk hindering the company's growth and diminishing consumer trust. This research aims to design optimal inventory policies for Julis by considering probabilistic demand and the company's performance score. This performance score is a measure of performance that integrates two key criteria: profit, calculated based on total inventory costs, and fill rate. With the right inventory policies, Julis is expected to improve inventory efficiency, reduce costs—particularly ensuring inventory costs meet the target of less than 40% of the company's total revenue or income—and achieve a minimum fill rate target of 95%, which is considered crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction and supporting business growth.The approach used in this research is an inventory optimization model that combines probabilistic methods in determining Order Quantity (Q) and Reorder Point (ROP). This design aims to address demand uncertainty, which often poses a major challenge in inventory management within the e-commerce sector. Additionally, this research introduces the integration of inventory classification based on performance score, enabling the company to prioritize certain products based on relevant performance criteria. As a result, each product category can be managed more efficiently and strategically according to business priorities. The results of this research indicate that the implementation of the designed inventory policies can significantly improve Julis' performance score. Specifically, in terms of cost efficiency, these policies can reduce inventory costs and increasing the fill rate, which directly positively impacts the company's profitability. Furthermore, the integration of inventory classification based on performance score has also proven effective in helping Julis identify the most critical products to prioritize in its inventory management.

ВЛИЯНИЯ ЛОЯЛЬНОСТИ ПЕРСОНАЛА НА ПРОЦЕСС ЭФФЕКТИВНОГО ФУНКЦИОНИРОВАНИЯ ОРГАНИЗАЦИИ

The study is devoted to the urgent problem of studying the influence of staff loyalty on the process of effective functioning of an organization in the dynamic turbulent socio-economic situation of recent years in the Russian Federation. In a period of insufficient personnel caused by demographic reasons and at the same time high rates of staff turnover, the study of the influence of staff loyalty on the process of effective functioning of the organization comes to the fore. A theoretical analysis of the influence of staff loyalty on the process of effective functioning of the company was carried out. The study presents the main aspects of the influence of staff loyalty on the process of effective functioning of the organization. Attitudinal and behavioral approaches to the definition of “loyalty” of personnel are outlined. A formulation is given to the basic concept of “loyalty” of personnel, which is revealed as the quality of an employee’s personality, determined by the willingness to adhere to the principles and established rules of the company, and the attitude towards the performance of job duties at a high level to maintain the functioning of the organization. The criteria for staff loyalty are highlighted, for example, such as: level of staff satisfaction with the conditions and results of work; emotional attachment to the organization (external and internal manifestations); degree of trust between management and employees. A description is given and the results of a practical study of the influence of staff loyalty on the process of effective functioning of the organization are presented. Of particular empirical importance are practical recommendations for the HR manager to determine the influence of staff loyalty, based on the use of methods for assessing the level of loyalty; research into the relationship between loyalty and company performance; analysis of received materials during feedback; monitoring of key indicators of the company’s operational efficiency and effectiveness.

This research, employing a unique quantitative method, seeks to ascertain the influence of job characteristics and job satisfaction on employee performance in plantation companies. The data was collected through a comprehensive questionnaire distribution process. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, ensuring the inclusion of all population members as samples.
