Low levels of financial literacy and poor financial management practices are still the main problems faced by micro, small and medium enterprises that are based on community and religious organizations. Problems with unorganized financial recording systems, in addition to the inability to separate business from personal finances, are obstacles to obtaining financing as well as making appropriate business decisions. The community service program is intended to improve the financial management capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises based at the Al-Muhajirat Mosque Taklim Assembly in Biring Romang Village, Makassar City through practical training on basic accounting. The method used is lectures, tutorials, and discussions tailored to the needs of partners with a participatory approach. The evaluation was carried out using participatory observation, case studies as well as post-training assessments to measure the effectiveness of the program. The results showed a significant increase in participants' ability to record transactions, implement a simple accounting cycle, and separate business from personal finances. Participants can also prepare basic financial reports for decision-making purposes. This program strengthens MSMEs' readiness for more accountable, transparent, and sustainable financial management.

  • Jurnal Pengabdian Nasional (JPN) Indonesia
  • Bonifasius H Tambunan + 4 more

This community service initiative addresses the outstanding Land and Building Tax (PBB) receivables at the Regional Revenue Agency (BAPENDA) of North Tapanuli Regency, which has become a significant obstacle to optimizing Regional Original Revenue (PAD) realization. The initiative aims to identify factors hindering PBB receivable collection effectiveness, analyze critical points of prevailing issues, and formulate applicable strategies to enhance collection performance. Methods employed include field observations, technical staff mentoring, and arrears data analysis using Excel software. Findings indicate that collection process barriers are influenced by two primary factors: internal and external. Internal factors include limited human resources, lack of integrated database systems, and inadequate information technology infrastructure. External factors encompass community socio-economic conditions, geographical constraints, and low taxpayer legal awareness. Based on these findings, several strategic measures are recommended: strengthening information systems and databases, enhancing personnel capacity, implementing public education programs, and optimizing inter-agency coordination. Implementation of these strategies is expected to reduce PBB receivables and improve regional financial management accountability.

Tourism village development through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) serves as a key strategy for rural economic empowerment. Klampitan Village, Purwoasri District, Kediri Regency, encounters several obstacles including limited human resource capacity, weak digital promotion, and lack of systematic spatial planning for BUMDes development. The community service program aimed to design a BUMDes site plan as a guideline for physical tourism area development and to enhance digital promotion capacity. A qualitative participatory approach was employed through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework for village asset mapping, complemented by SWOT analysis for strategy formulation. Implementation took place from July to August 2025, involving 10 key informants through observation, interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Data validation was conducted using source triangulation and member checking. The program produced a conceptual BUMDes site plan comprising 11 main sections with economic, social, educational, and recreational functions. Additionally, official BUMDes social media accounts were established as digital promotion channels. Evaluation showed 92% community participation and improved capabilities of MSME actors in utilizing social media for product marketing. These achievements demonstrate that the program not only generated initial plans and facilitation but also established institutional foundations and human resource capacity for sustainable BUMDes management. The resulting site plan and digital enhancement function as initial instruments supporting the acceleration of Klampitan Village toward becoming a tourism village in 2026.

  • Dwi Wahyuni + 9 more

This community service activity aims to build students' awareness of the psychological impact of bullying through a school literacy approach at MI Nurul Jadid Bondowoso. The main problem is the low level of student understanding regarding the forms and impacts of bullying, which are often considered normal. The program was carried out by seven students through three meetings on September 20, October 4, and October 19, 2025, using a participatory literacy approach involving discussions, video analysis, mini-dramas, and reflections. Evaluation results showed a 91% increase in student understanding based on a comparison of pre-test and post-test results. The activity concluded with the distribution of snacks and an educational trip to the lake behind the school as a means of applying the values of empathy and togetherness. Teachers responded positively as the activity helped students understand the dangers of bullying and fostered an attitude of mutual respect. The program succeeded in changing student behavior to become more caring and is expected to create a school environment free from bullying.

  • Ben Gal Dahan A + 3 more

The mass civilian attack on October 7th, 2023, marked a watershed moment in Israeli history, particularly for frontline communities such as Sderot. This paper presents an in-depth descriptive analysis of the response provided by the Sderot Resilience Center (SRC), a community-based mental health facility established in 2007 to address chronic exposure to security-related trauma based on over 13,000 electronically documented treatment records, this study documents a dramatic surge in service demand following the events of October 7th, identifies demographic and treatment-related shifts-including a marked increase in adult service utilization and a relative decline among children and adolescents-and reflects on the unique therapeutic model employed by resilience centers in Israel. Beyond the clinical response, the SRC exemplifies an innovative community-based governance model that integrates mental health, welfare, education, and community services under a unified resilience framework. Operated independently but closely collaborating with the municipality, the SRC's longstanding presence within Sderot fostered trust and accessibility, allowing residents to view it as a familiar, reliable resource rather than an external intervention. This foundation of trust, combined with the center's capacity to rapidly scale interventions and adapt to evolving needs, formed the basis of its success in responding to the crisis. Findings demonstrate that such centers can rapidly scale mental health interventions and adapt to evolving needs in times of national crisis.

Find Worker app is an initiative that offers a mobile service platform that will help solve the long-standing service gaps of accessing skilled daily workers in rural and semi-urban settings. The system fosters efficient task-worker matching of important home and community services by combining the location-based search, systematic skill classification, and real-time availability detection. The platform also includes voice interaction and recommendation with the help of artificial intelligence to assist users with weak digital literacy. Additional benefits, such as customer-verified worker accounts, safe communication, and real-time tracking, contribute to the transparency and safety of operations. Unlike more urban-oriented service applications, Find Worker prioritizes rural access to digital and fair access to employment. The prototype can be evaluated empirically and it can be argued that it has improved accessibility to services, increased visibility of workers, and increased user satisfaction, which emphasizes the potential of the platform in supporting a sustainable socio-economic development

  • Apr 27, 2026
  • IKRA-ITH ABDIMAS
  • M Arizal + 1 more

Climate change is a real threat to the long-term viability of farms and the economic stability of farming families, especially in rural Indonesia. This makes farmers even more vulnerable because they can't plan their finances flexibly when they don't know how much they'll make from their harvest. The goal of this community service project is to help farming families become more financially literate. It took place on October 30, 2025, in Waru Village, Parung District, Bogor Regency, and involved 30 members of the PKK of Waru Village. The extension materials taught people how to manage their household income and expenses, keep simple financial records, plan their finances for the seasons, and get to know formal financial institutions. A questionnaire was used to evaluate participants' financial knowledge and access to financial institutions. The results show that 76.6% of participants knew about banks, 60% had savings accounts, and 73.3% knew about more than one type of bank. After the extension, comprehension levels were over 80% of the target set. These results show that using contextual and participatory lecture methods as a first step to help rural farming communities address climate change challenges is an effective way to improve their financial literacy.

  • Didik Purnomo + 2 more

Community Service Order an alternative sentencing aimed at reducing dependence on imprisonment while restoring social balance within the community. This study examines how the Community Service Order can represent the values of social justice as reflected in the fifth principle of Pancasila. The study analyzed the philosophical, juridical, and penological bases of Community Service Order as well as its legal implications within the framework of the 2023 Criminal Code. In this juridical-normative study, philosophical and penological approaches were used based on the analysis of legislation, legal literature, and the thoughts of criminal law experts. The results show that Community Service Order has the potential to balance community protection, victims' interests, and offender rehabilitation. In addition, this punishment reflects the values of distributive and corrective justice in line with the principles of social justice in Pancasila. Therefore, Community Service Order does not only function as an alternative sanction but also as a criminal policy instrument that supports the development of a more humane, restorative, and socially just Indonesian penal system.

The wait for "geripsych": Prolonged boarding of older adults awaiting inpatient psychiatry.
  • Apr 26, 2026

  • Danilo Rojas-Velasquez

Prolonged boarding of older adults with neuropsychiatric illness has become a common, yet underrecognized, feature of contemporary mental health care delivery. I highlight the ways boarding functions as a de facto stage of care that impacts the system and hospitalists tasked with caring for these patients. Boarding reflects structural vulnerabilities around psychiatric capacity, long‑term care, and community services. Boarding time should be treated as a reportable safety metric, paired with unit‑level prevention and escalation pathways to guide hospital leaders, hospitalists, and regional planners.

Revisiting labor productivity growth in Turkey: accounting for relative prices, structural change, and sectoral dynamics
  • Apr 24, 2026
  • New Perspectives on Turkey
  • Zeren Tatar Taşpınar + 1 more

Abstract This study decomposes aggregate labor productivity growth in Turkey from 1999 to 2023 using a chain-linked gross domestic product (GDP) series with an exactly additive decomposition method. Traditionally, this growth has been decomposed into two components: productivity growth within sectors and labor reallocation across sectors. Using the chain-linked GDP series introduces a third component: changes in relative sectoral prices. Although these relative price changes cancel out at the aggregate level, they influence sectoral contributions to overall labor productivity by altering each sector’s weight in total output. Incorporating them, therefore, provides a more comprehensive view of sectoral dynamics by capturing their contributions to aggregate productivity growth. On average, the contribution of structural change slightly exceeds that of the within component. However, both the magnitude and composition of contributions vary considerably across sub-periods. During crisis years, structural change contributed positively while the within-sector component was negative. In contrast, during non-crisis periods, aggregate labor productivity growth declined because the structural-change component weakened persistently and nearly vanished after 2018, despite a positive though limited within-sector component. At the sector level, construction, finance and real estate, community, personal, and government services, and transport and communication largely account for the slowdown, while manufacturing’s contribution stayed steady; its composition shifted away from within productivity across periods.
