Іncrease in the number of sentences for commitment of family violence as an indicator of increase in the level of legal culture of the society

The article highlights the issue of the increase in the number of cases of domestic violence known to law enforcement agencies. Factors affecting the increase of legal awareness of citizens and encouraging them to take decisive actions for zero tolerance to various types of violence in families are analyzed in detail. We analyzed the changes in the legislation of Ukraine, which became the driving force for the fight against domestic violence, the protection of victims and the punishment of offenders. An important step for this was the introduction of amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the addition of Article 126-1 “Domestic violence”. At the same time, an important factor in the formation of public awareness of the inadmissibility of domestic violence is the activity of public organizations, public figures, the media community, and mass media. The trend of increasing the level of legal culture of the individual in terms of zero tolerance for the actions of offenders is being followed. Society increasingly does not tolerate violence and strives for justice. It also shows that the legal culture of the individual is growing, people respect the law more and more and understand the importance of human rights. The connection is investigated, according to which increasing the level of awareness of citizens about their rights and about the possibilities of protection against violence leads to an increase in the number of appeals to the police and restoration of their rights by legal means. It has been proven that people seek help more and more often, knowing that they have support from the state. The number of sentences contained in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions for domestic violence in the period 2020–2024 is analyzed. It has been studied that the increase in the number of sentences for committing domestic violence is directly proportional to the increase in the level of legal culture of the individual and society. This fact confirms the opinion, however, that domestic violence is gradually leaving the category of latent crimes and victims are no longer ready to put up with violence in families. It was concluded that the development of legal culture in this context means that people not only know about the inadmissibility of violence, but also realize the importance of observing laws and actively participating in the fight against this problem.

Adherence of inactivated polio vaccine immunization for children in Central Java Province

Indonesia is a country with high-risk polio transmission. Administering inactivated polio vaccination (IPV) after drops-polio or oral polio vaccination (OPV) was a strategy stopping polio transmission because its ability to ward off poliovirus which was very dangerous. The IPV coverage was very low and have never reached the target since it was launched in 2016. The study purpose was analyzing determinants factors of IPV adherence. A cross-sectional survey conducted in 31 districts in Central Java Province. Sample was 685 children aged 11-23 months and selected using purposive and accidental sampling method. Collecting data by interview using structured questionnaire and observation with maternal and child health (MCH) Handbook to identify immunization status. The collected data was analyzed univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. As many as 74.3% of children received IPV. Partially, variables of delivery history, immunization status, knowledge, attitudes, sources of information, and service satisfaction were related to IPV adherence. Simultaneously, immunization status, attitudes, and sources of information influenced IPV adherence with an overall effect 35.2%. Immunization status as the dominant influencing factor. Efforts were needed reducing resistance to IPV through psychological approach that was motivating and personal, also using of social media as a medium for positive information and communication, in addition to improve immunization service system.

Mass Media and Communication

Mass communication can be defined as the process of using mass media to send messages to large audiences for the purpose of informing, entertaining or persuading. In many respects the process of mass communication and other communication are same. Someone conceives a message, essentially an intrapersonal act. The message then is encoded into a common code such as language. Then it is transmitted. Another person receives the message, decodes it and internalizes it. In other respects, mass communication is distinctive. Crafting an effective message for thousands of people of diverse backgrounds and interest requires different skills than chatting with a friend across the table. Encoding the message is more complex because a device is always used, for example a camera or recorder. We shall first take up the print media because that happens to be the original type of mass media in India. We shall then give an account of radio, film and TV as media of mass communication in India, their spread, reach, people’s access to these media and their impact on the society. New technologies made their entry during 1970s and 1980s. They are video, cable and satellite TV.

Clinical and cost-effectiveness of spironolactone in treating persistent facial acne in women: SAFA double-blinded RCT.

Acne is common, can cause significant impact on quality of life and is a frequent reason for long-term antibiotic use. Spironolactone has been prescribed for acne in women for many years, but robust evidence is lacking. To evaluate whether spironolactone is clinically effective and cost-effective in treating acne in women. Pragmatic, parallel, double-blind, randomised superiority trial. Primary and secondary healthcare and community settings (community and social media advertising). Women aged 18 years and older with facial acne persisting for at least 6 months, judged to potentially warrant oral antibiotic treatment. Participants were randomised 1:1, using an independent web-based procedure, to either 50 mg/day spironolactone or matched placebo until week 6, increasing to 100 mg/day spironolactone or matched placebo until week 24. Participants continued usual topical treatment. Primary outcome was the adjusted mean difference in Acne-Specific Quality of Life symptom subscale score at 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes included Acne-Specific Quality of Life total and subscales; participant self-assessed improvement; Investigator's Global Assessment; Participant's Global Assessment; satisfaction; adverse effects and cost-effectiveness. Of 1267 women assessed for eligibility, 410 were randomised (201 intervention, 209 control), 342 in the primary analysis (176 intervention, 166 control). Mean age was 29.2 years (standard deviation 7.2) and 7.9% (28/356) were from non-white backgrounds. At baseline, Investigator's Global Assessment classified acne as mild in 46%, moderate in 40% and severe in 13%. At baseline, 82.9% were using topical treatments. Over 95% of participants in both groups tolerated the treatment and increased their dose. Mean baseline Acne-Specific Quality of Life symptom subscale was 13.0 (standard deviation 4.7) across both groups. Mean scores at week 12 were 19.2 (standard deviation 6.1) for spironolactone and 17.8 (standard deviation 5.6) for placebo [difference favouring spironolactone 1.27 (95% confidence interval 0.07 to 2.46) adjusting for baseline variables]. Mean scores at week 24 were 21.2 (standard deviation 5.9) in spironolactone group and 17.4 (standard deviation 5.8) in placebo group [adjusted difference 3.77 (95% confidence interval 2.50 to 5.03) adjusted]. Secondary outcomes also favoured spironolactone at 12 weeks with greater differences at 24 weeks. Participants taking spironolactone were more likely than those taking placebo to report overall acne improvement at 12 weeks {72.2% vs. 67.9% [adjusted odds ratio 1.16 (95% confidence interval 0.70 to 1.91)]} and at 24 weeks {81.9% vs. 63.3% [adjusted odds ratio 2.72 (95% confidence interval1.50 to 4.93)]}. Investigator'sGlobalAssessment was judged successful at week 12 for 31/201 (18.5%) taking spironolactone and 9/209 (5.6%) taking placebo [adjusted odds ratio 5.18 (95% confidence interval 2.18 to 12.28)]. Satisfaction with treatment improved in 70.6% of participants taking spironolactone compared with 43.1% taking placebo [adjusted odds ratio 3.12 (95% confidence interval 1.80 to 5.41)]. Adverse reactions were similar between groups, but headaches were reported more commonly on spironolactone (20.4% vs. 12.0%). No serious adverse reactions were reported. Taking account for missing data through multiple imputation gave an incremental cost per quality-adjusted life-year of £27,879 (adjusted) compared to placebo or £2683 per quality-adjusted life-year compared to oral antibiotics. Spironolactone resulted in better participant-reported and investigator-reported outcomes than placebo, with greater differences at week 24 than week 12. This trial is registered as ISRCTN12892056 and EudraCT (2018-003630-33). An Analysis of the Challenges Faced by Female Undergraduate EFL Students in Speaking English at ULM

Speaking skills play an important role in daily life conversation through which we express feelings, emotions, and ideas easily and confidently. English has gained the status of a global language as it is spoken and understood all around the world. English is the medium of communication enabling people of different linguistic backgrounds to connect, cooperate, and collaborate. The present study investigates the challenges that undergraduate female EFL students face in speaking English. The present study is an attempt to find out the reason for the challenges faced by undergraduate female students in speaking English at ULM and how we defeat these challenges through some achievable actions. To find out the challenges that undergraduate female students in speaking English at ULM, we used the quantitative method. We collect data through questionnaires from the different semester students of the department of English and Applied Linguistics, and then we analyze it on SPSS software by applying the descriptive statistical analysis method. The finding reveals various factors or challenges including social, environmental, economic, and psychological. Moreover, the study also highlights some possible strategies to approach these challenges and enrich English speaking fluency among female EFL students. Understanding and confronting these challenges is critical for developing English language education for female undergraduate EFL students, thus upgrading their academic and professional avenues.

Assessing the English Language Needs and Challenges of Chinese Undergraduates in Thai Universities

Background and Aim: Studying undergraduate in Thai universities is a popular option for Chinese students. International programs covering popular fields not only meet the goals of Chinese students but are also seen by Chinese students as the best way to harvest specialized knowledge and English ability because of the all-English teaching course. However, since the English language is the only communication medium for Chinese students, there are some difficulties and problems encountered by these students who are not English native speakers. Therefore, this study aims to explore the specific English language skills Chinese undergraduates need and the challenges they face in academic and everyday contexts in Thai universities. Materials and Methods: Participants involved 80 Chinese undergraduates studying four-year international programs in Thai public universities with an IELTS overall score of 5. Employing a mixed-methods approach, we distributed a questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale to all participants and conducted focus group interviews with 12 participants. Results: Findings indicate a critical need to enhance writing and speaking for academic success, with an emphasis on specific-field terminology, and to improve listening and speaking skills for daily life communication. Besides, the lack of academic writing strategies and English communication in official institutions are the problems that undergraduates encounter in academic and daily contexts respectively. Conclusion: The study underscores the urgent need for tailored EAP courses that address both academic and everyday English use, with a particular focus on writing with academic vocabularies and enhancing communicative competence in key scenarios like immigration processing.

RITUAL BELA DIRI KUTAU DALAM MASYARAKAT DESA SURO, KABUPATEN MUSI RAWAS

This paper discusses the Kutau martial arts ritual practiced by the people of Suro Village, Muara Beliti District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province. Kutau is one of the ancestral heritages consisting of a set of rituals. Kutau takes the form of traditional martial arts that has been developed by the Suro Village community. Applying the qualitative approach, this study aimed to systematically document all forms of rituals in Kutau and its functions within the Suro community. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using Victor Turner’s ritual approach and Talcot Parsons’ function approach. Results show that Kutau is a medium of communication between the community and their ancestors to pass down the Kutau knowledge, which is closely related to Suro people’s belief system. Kutau still prevails thanks to the latency function of the Kutau community, so that the whole system is able to survive and adapt to the current society.

This community service initiative aims to promote understanding of tourism entrepreneurship and destination branding, vital for harnessing local potential and enhancing regional tourist attractions. By encouraging environmental responsibility and fostering collaboration in developing regional tourism, the program seeks to empower Cijengkol Village residents. Effective tourism communication skills are seen as key to unlocking economic opportunities indirectly. The initiative addresses two main challenges: a lack of awareness regarding tourism's potential as a key sector, affecting micro, small, and medium enterprises, and underutilization of modern digital media for tourism communication. The approach involves specialized training for community members, particularly those involved in Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Cijengkol Village. The outcome includes the formation of Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) candidates who understand a tourism vision and mission aligned with SMART goals for sustainable tourism management. Consequently, the candidates are equipped with collaborative concepts and strategies for tourism management in Cijengkol Village, serving as a foundation for future implementation.

The study reveals a staged adoption process influenced by factors such as farmer age and crop vulnerability. While the application has enhanced access to agricultural information and improved pest management, challenges including the digital divide and integration with traditional practices persist. The findings highlight the complex interplay between digital innovation and existing agricultural systems, emphasizing the need for context-sensitive approaches in implementing agricultural technologies. Fraud crime using stocks (hereinafter referred to as fraud crime) refers to defrauding investments by supplying listed stocks, unlisted stocks, and overseas futures at lower prices than the actual transaction price using virtual securities companies and inducing investment by guaranteeing high returns. Since this crime is committed using fake phones and fake bank accounts in cyberspace called communication media, it is difficult to identify criminals, making it difficult to arrest them. Victims of fraud suffer from mental pain such as depression, anxiety, regret, and despair due to financial loss. Therefore, related agencies will not be able to stop crimes unless legal, institutional, and policy countermeasures are sought to prevent them. To prevent this, it is necessary to seek proactive and follow-up measures. First, the preliminary precautionary measure is ① by enacting a law on criminal law alarms to prevent damage by informing investigative agencies or financial institutions of the criminal law to the entire population. ② Even if an investor remits the investment, the investment should not be remitted for a certain period of time through the remittance transfer delay system, so that the investment should not be remitted to the criminal's account when the investor is judged to be fraudulent. ③ Financial institutions notify the investigative agency when a large amount of deposit and withdrawal accounts occur for a certain period of time, and when a damage report is received for the account, the investigative agency must immediately obtain a seizure and search warrant and confiscate it to prevent further damage. ④ Employees of financial companies should be able to impose the obligation to notify them through the revision of related laws that they can be punished if they are used for identification procedures and crimes when opening mobile phones and bankbooks. Next, the follow-up measures are ① The National Assembly should strengthen criminal punishment through the revision of the criminal law so that fraudulent crimes are not considered “remaining business,” so that potential criminals do not only prevent crime but also lead to crime. ② When a crime damage report is received, the investigative agency should obtain a real-time communication warrant so that the criminal can be located and arrested. ③ The National Assembly should unify the request for a search warrant from the police to the court so that investigative agencies can obtain warrants early and confiscate mobile phones and bank accounts. ④ The Ministry of Justice should establish a law enforcement agency dedicated to fraud so that it can arrest criminals and prevent crimes by securing expertise and giving investigative power superior to criminal methods. ⑤ The National Assembly should enact a law on suspension of withdrawal to prevent withdrawal when a financial institution requests the suspension of withdrawal, knowing that the investor is a fraud. These countermeasures will be a great driving force in preventing fraudulent crimes.

The material discussed in the program is about health in the form of physical, facial, internal medicine, psychology and much more about Health which is discussed in the KLINIK 24 program. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The theory used to analyze is the theory of Susan Tyler Eastman's strategy. The results of this study indicate that the broadcasting strategy used by the KLINIK 24 program is a mass attracting strategy.

The Problem of Visual Complexity: Criteria for Analysis and Evaluation

The article analyses the concept of visual complexity, highlighted by different researchers as a significant characteristic of contemporary visual communication and culture. The problem of ambiguity of the concept and its dependence on different objective and subjective factors and perception variables is posed. Formal categories and criteria for assessing visual complexity are defined, its stable patterns in the subject area of corporate identity —logo, are revealed. With the help of the identified categories visual complexity is analyzed through specific formal universal attributes that can be systematized, which makes it possible to answer the question of what makes a logo complex. The concept of complexity of corporate identity is meaningfully revealed from the point of view of designers — its direct developers, who determine the visual-graphic, constructive and plastic character of the brand logo. For the first time in the Russian-speaking scientific space, an empirical study of the position of professional designers regarding the significance of the proposed criteria was conducted. The quantitative survey method allowed objectifying the point of view of the professional audience: the data is characterized by stability in comparison with the data obtained from the general audience. Visual complexity is thus conceptualized and empirically operationalized without a gap between the theory and practice of visual communication. It is concluded that, as an expressive design tool, visual complexity is a positive characteristic in contemporary media communication.

This research investigated the evolving role of emojis in shaping paralanguage within social media communication, with a particular focus on how these visual symbols enhance linguistic and emotional expression. The study examined the nuanced ways in which emojis contribute to the overall tone, context, and meaning in written discourse, while also considering cultural and contextual variations in emoji usage among individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Conducted with a sample of 55 Year-3 Bachelor of Education students at a university in Fiji, where English is a second language, the research employed a mixed methods approach to analyze data on the usage and perception of emojis in social media communication. This paper argues that emojis play a crucial role in conveying emotions, fostering engagement, and adding personality to messages, thereby augmenting textual communication with emotional nuance and clarity, leading to more empathetic and meaningful online interactions. The findings indicate that emojis are widely used across various communication channels, including text messages, comments, and direct messages, reflecting their versatility and widespread adoption. Respondents overwhelmingly perceive emojis as positive tools that enhance the effectiveness of digital communication by conveying emotions, fostering engagement, and adding personality to messages. The study also highlights the significant role emojis play in nonverbal communication, particularly in expressing emotions that may be difficult to articulate through text alone. By providing emotional nuance, clarity, and depth, emojis contribute to more empathetic and meaningful interactions in online spaces. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the dynamic interplay between emojis and paralanguage in contemporary digital communication, signifying the importance of these symbols in enriching text-based exchanges and fostering more engaging and emotionally resonant social media interactions.
