Impact of Cross - Cultural Exchanges on Dual - Cultural Identity: Taking “The Mutual Learning between Chinese Culture and Chinese - Greek Civilizations” as an Example

Background: In the context of globalization, cross - cultural communication has become a prominent feature, and , as a symbol of Chinese culture, play an increasingly important role in cross - cultural communication. This study explores the impact of cross - cultural wushu communication on dual cultural identity through the case of Greek students participating in Chinese wushu communication. Methods: The study adopts a qualitative research method, with semi - structured interviews as the main data collection tool. The sample includes 12 Greek students and 2 wushu teachers. The interview data is analyzed using the thematic analysis method. Results: The results show four main themes and eight sub - themes. The strong interest of Greek students in Chinese culture is the main motivation for them to learn wushu. They showed a hard-working spirit during the learning process and overcame numerous difficulties. Wushu cultivation has cultivated students' self - discipline, perseverance, and respect for etiquette. The contact with wushu cultural elements has enhanced the understanding and comparison of Chinese and Greek cultures and strengthened dual cultural identity. Conclusion: Cross - cultural wushu communication has a positive impact on dual cultural identity and is an important way for skill transmission and cultural understanding and comparison. However, this study also has a small sample size as a limitation. Future studies can expand the sample and further explore this topic.

Perceptions of Local and Traditional Government Leaders for Enhancing Community Development

Purpose: There are two key governance forms in Ghana, specifically traditional governance and democratic governance. Accelerating development in the local communities requires effective collaboration and the fusion of the two governances divide to harness the unique capabilities and opportunities embedded within each paradigm. The perceptions hold by local and traditional leaders about each other is fundamental to collaborative efforts. Such perceptions speak to the psychosocial, convictional and behaviour of local leaders. Methodology: This study through a field survey samples the views of two leadership divide about each other in terms of their ability to drive positive change in the community to drive accelerated community development. The study was conducted among three select districts specifically, the Accra Metropolis, Kumasi Metropolis and the Tamale Metropolis using key informant interviews, and focus group discussions to gather the data. The data was analysed using thematic analysis. Findings: The findings of the study indicated that there are shared perceptions of strengths of both systems of governance for developing local communities. The traditional leaders are seen to be strong on cultural legitimacy, moral authority, communication competence, and historical knowledge, all of which helps in social mobilization within the local communities. The local government leaders were found to exercise strength in the areas of access to money and resources, legal authority, and enforcement authority. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: We conclude that there are opportunities to harness each of these strengths such that a successful fusion of local and traditional systems of government will lead transformative leadership for sustainable local development.

Inheritance and Protection of Traditional Musical Intangible Cultural Heritage

Musical intangible cultural heritage refers to the transmission of intangible cultural expressions with cultural connotations and social significance through music as a carrier. It covers a rich variety of musical forms and traditional musical instruments, and embodies the creation and inheritance of music by human beings in different historical periods and regional environments. Through the inheritance of traditional music, it can promote and pass on national culture and local culture, and strengthen people's sense of cultural identity and belonging. Music has the ability to cross languages and cultures, and through music inheritance, it can promote cultural exchanges and communication between different regions and nationalities, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship. For individuals, music heritage can enhance their sense of identity, self-knowledge and self-confidence. The safeguarding of musical intangible cultural heritage is a brand new field and a mainstream discourse in the field of international cultural studies. At the same time, it should be the historical mission of every individual worker related to music.

Reasons for resistance to technology adoption in university libraries in Bangladesh

This article explores the reasons for resistance to technology adoption in university libraries in Bangladesh. Through interviews and focus group discussions with LIS professionals, four main themes emerged: personal, organizational, social, and financial factors. Personal barriers included lack of awareness, reluctance to learn, and fear of consequences. Organizational challenges encompassed cultural norms, change Management Strategies, and management support. Social influences included peer pressure and power dynamics, while financial factors involved budgetary constraints and ongoing operating costs, which pose significant challenges to technology adoption. Recommendations for overcoming resistance include providing training and support, fostering a culture of change, effective communication, incentivizing adoption, collaborative decision-making, pilot testing, continual evaluation, education and training, incentives and rewards, communication and collaboration, user-centered design, and change management. Implementing these strategies can facilitate technology adoption, enhancing library services in Bangladesh and beyond.

Innovative Strategies for Hosts in the Dissemination of China's Narrative System in the Age of Intelligent Media

In the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the "second integration" emphasized the contemporary significance of excellent traditional Chinese culture, highlighting the construction of an independent narrative system based on the integration of traditional Chinese culture and local cultural practices. In today’s society, China faces challenges in the dissemination of its narrative system, such as the external shaping of cultural symbols and a relatively singular form of cultural communication. The integration of culture and tourism has become a popular topic in recent years, with tourism programs serving as a window to showcase Chinese culture. Although cultural programs and tourism programs have both seen substantial development, creating a comprehensive program that effectively integrates both remains a task requiring continuous reflection from hosts. Particularly, current tourism programs face challenges like weak cultural relevance, lack of distinctive hosting styles, and hollow content. These issues present new challenges to hosts and offer great development potential for related programs. The key topic of this paper is how hosts can leverage their expertise to expand the program’s reach or enhance its content dissemination. Through research, the paper identifies innovative approaches for hosts in cultural tourism programs, summarized into three phases: tasks to be completed in the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. The analysis covers the core content, the host’s positioning, and communication methods. The proposed innovative paths provide new perspectives and ideas for more effectively disseminating Chinese cultural symbols abroad.

Knowledge Dissemination and Social Functions: The Multiple Roles of Shanghai Libraries in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China

This study focuses on the multi-dimensional function of Shanghai libraries in academic exchange and social functions from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. Through the analysis of the social dynamic changes of Shanghai in this historical period, the first thing is to outline the social evolution of the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, and reveal the role of Shanghai as an important city in China. Then, the paper reviews the development of Shanghai Libraries since its establishment in detail, and emphasizes its cornerstone position in the collection, storage and cataloguing of document resources, especially its effectiveness in promoting the popularization of national education and promoting international cultural communication. In addition, the paper further discusses its function as a public place for leisure study, as well as its role in promoting social enlightenment and urban historical and cultural inheritance. By reflecting on the function and limitation of Shanghai Libraries in the historical moment and evaluating it from a fair and impartial perspective, this can provide historical reference for the construction and forward-looking planning of modern libraries. RCTV's "Wewara" Program in Preserving Cirebon Local Wisdom

The rapid development of technology has made it easier for humans to communicate. Communication is a process of conveying and receiving symbols that contain a meaning, whether in the form of information, thoughts, knowledge or other forms. The researcher conducted a study related to a RCTV "Wewara" Program in preserving Cirebon Local Wisdom. The purpose of this research is so that all people and readers know the importance of maintaining local wisdom and cultural communication from an area that we live in, besides that the researcher wants to know more about the process, principles, and editorial policies of the Cirebon language contained in the "wewara" news broadcast program. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method, by conducting an interview and conducting a direct observation in the field. The results of this study show that the agenda setting agenda in RCTV's "Wewara" Program in Preserving Cirebon Local Wisdom gives birth to three stages, namely the process of problem identification (problem stream), policy determination (policy stream) and finally the political process (political stream).

Evaluating the effectiveness of a new curriculum for transcultural nursing education: a mixed-method study

BackgroundIn recent years, limited studies have evaluated the development of cultural awareness, sensitivity, skills, communication and competence among nursing students using different models and curricula.ObjectivesThis study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a new internationally developed curriculum for transcultural nursing education.MethodsThis mixed methods study was conducted on nursing students (n = 83) who attended a transcultural nursing course from 2021 to 2022 during the fall semester. A paired samples test was used to compare total scores, and the related-samples Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare subscale scores.ResultsThe vast majority (94.0%) of the participants mentioned Islam as their religion. Turkish was the mother tongue of 91.6% of them, while 10.8% were able to speak English and 6.0% were able to speak Kurdish fluently. The mean score for the achievement of cultural competence subdimension posttest was significantly greater (p < 0.001). Posttest mean scores for challenges and barriers in providing culturally competent care subdimensions were significantly lower (p = 0.003). The mean score on the culturally sensitive communication subdimension pretest was 21.00 ± 4.76, and the mean score on the posttest increased to 23.02 ± 6.05, which was a statistically significantly greater difference (p = 0.024). According to the qualitative results of our study, five main themes were analyzed: transcultural nursing as an opportunity, transcultural nursing as a didactic process, transcultural nursing as a professional field, transcultural care as a safe environment, and transcultural care as an obligation.ConclusionsIn this study, after a semester of continuing education, nursing students developed respect for cultural diversity, cultural competence, and culturally sensitive communication.

Empirical Study on the Influencing Factors of Cultural Space Communication Effect in Lou Di City

In the rapidly evolving media landscape, subcultural communication has attracted much attention. However, due to its long duration and low entertainment value, it struggles to create a lasting impact on collective and social memory. This research explores the potential of physical cultural spaces as a new avenue for effective cultural communication. Through quantitative research, the study focuses on the factors influencing the communication impact of public cultural spaces in Lou Di City. The results indicate that attributes such as attention-grabbing, engagement, innovation, ambiance, uniqueness, relevance, clarity, usefulness, recommendations, and satisfaction significantly influence the communication impact of cultural spaces. These findings can guide the enhancement and theoretical reconstruction of cultural spaces.

Diplomatic Communication of Silk Sign: Vehicle, Signification, and Narrative

ABSTRACT This study explores how silk as an aesthetic sign plays the active and efficient role of diplomatic narrative in the cultural and political communication between countries employing the historical and archaeological evidence in China. Aesthetic signs are of communicative values and cultural narrative significance. Silk is an aesthetic sign with iconic properties. The paper argues that beauty, exquisiteness, and value are the visual properties that silk as a sign vehicle presents in terms of texture, colours, patterns, and weaving techniques, recognised across all cultural contexts throughout history. The richness of favourable meanings that a sign conveys is embodied in the characteristics of its specific vehicle. The combination of silk as a sign vehicle and its designated object conveys the sign's value, thus performing the narrative function. Due to its iconic functions, silk is the most distinct and active aesthetic sign. Therefore, this paper argues that silk as a sign expresses diplomatic fraternity and harmony narrates aesthetics of unremitting pursuit of gentleness and auspiciousness, and constructs an international image of a country willing to coexist with others harmoniously and offer mutual assistance during difficulties.

Cultural Diversity, Communication, Inclusivity and Collaboration in Nigerian Workplaces: A Review

The increasing cultural diversity in Nigerian workplaces has intensified the need for effective communication strategies to manage intercultural interactions and foster inclusiveness. This study examines the implications of cultural and linguistic diversity within Nigerian organizations, addressing the complexities of navigating ethnic, religious, and linguistic differences. The Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT), Social Identity Theory (SIT), and Intergroup Contact Theory provide foundational frameworks for understanding and managing these dynamics, with CAT highlighting how convergence and divergence in communication styles can bridge or amplify social divides. Through a detailed analysis of Nigerian workplace environments, this paper identifies key communication challenges, including language barriers and identity-driven in-groups, while proposing strategies rooted in CAT, SIT, and Intergroup Contact Theory to enhance collaboration and reduce tensions. Recommendations for organizational management, such as language training and structured intergroup activities, aim to foster a more inclusive and productive environment, acknowledging both the opportunities and challenges posed by Nigeria’s unique socio-cultural landscape.

The Relevance of Demographic Similarity and Factuality in Social Influencer Communication Culture – A Comparison Between Hedonic and Utilitarian Conditions

This work identifies differences in the success factors of influencers given consumers’ consumption goals (hedonic vs. utilitarian). Although practitioners have complained about the lack of know-how regarding this issue, research on the topic remains scarce. Hypotheses on the differing relevance of the demographic similarity of influencers and consumers and of the factuality of influencers’ communication are verified through an empirical investigation. The scenario is consumers’ selection of a hotel for (1) a holiday (hedonic consumption goal) or (2) a professional/university seminar (utilitarian consumption goal). The results are analyzed by structural equation modeling and multigroup analysis. We generate some surprising results. Counterintuitively, demographic similarity is more important under utilitarian than hedonic conditions. Factuality seems equally important in both conditions. Explanations and implications of these findings are provided.

Professionally significant qualities of teaching producing in the context of digital development: Evaluating the effectiveness by education stakeholders

Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of increasing the level of communicative culture in future economists in the digital era. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the effectiveness of professionally important qualities of teaching producing in universities of Economics, taking into account the digital format of interaction. Materials and Methods. The methodological basis of the study is the Pareto optimality principle (2080), which allows the authors to determine the necessary minimum of teaching resources in terms of modern communication knowledge for training economists in the digital age. During the study, an online survey was conducted in order to substantiate the effectiveness of professionally important qualities of teaching producing in the context of the digital specifics of the socio-economic space. The research sample consisted of students and academic staff of economics departments of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Omsk State Pedagogical University, and Omsk State Technical University. Results. The theoretical analysis of the research problem revealed professionally important qualities of teaching producing (communication skills, digitals kills, knowledge of the principles of teaching ethics to create an atmosphere of trust and psychological safety), which facilitate the development of future economists’ communicative culture (motivational, cognitive, and functional components). According to the results of the empirical part of the study, the education stakeholders highly appreciated the effectiveness of professionally significant qualities of teaching producing and their positive correlation. Conclusions. The use of the Pareto rule allows the authors to conclude that the formation of professionally significant t qualities of teaching producing, which make up about 20% of the professional qualities composition for academic staff at universities of economics, determines 80% of the productivity of educational outcomes in terms of developing future economists’ communicative culture. This, in turn, determines the ability of graduates to build communication taking into account the career prospects at various levels of digitalization and interaction with artificial intelligence systems.

Sustainable Drivers of Financial Success in Nigeria’s Non-Financial Sector: A Managerial Perspective

This study examines the determinants of financial performance from a managerial perspective capturing managerial outcomes such as managerial hubris, meetings, risk and compensation. This study utilises the ex post facto methodology. Using a panel ordinary least square regression, the findings demonstrate that a higher frequency of board meetings has a detrimental effect on financial performance, resulting in a 3% decline for each additional meeting. This is a result of an abundance of meetings, mental exhaustion from making too many decisions, and excessive control over tasks and processes. Managerial remuneration has a negative influence on financial performance, resulting in a 21% decline for each unit increase. Nevertheless, despite a substantial 83% decline in performance, management hubris does not have a meaningful impact on financial outcomes. Finally, exercising careful and wise decision-making while taking risks promotes the development of new ideas and the capacity to adjust to new circumstances, resulting in a significant 29% growth. The study's findings indicate that implementing strategic risk management may improve financial performance. This suggests that pay should be in line with long-term goals and that fostering a culture of transparent communication and efficient governance is crucial for minimising adverse effects and fostering sustainable growth outcomes.

Action Research for Enhancing the English Learning Needs of College Students

This study explored English learning challenges faced by freshman students in a Hainan vocational university. Participants, who had completed vocational diplomas and professional internships, struggled with English, affecting their undergraduate coursework. Analysis of the data revealed several key issues, including lack of interest and motivation, disconnect from practical needs, overemphasis on vocabulary and grammar, dissatisfaction with learning outcomes, inappropriate assessment standards and content, lack of relevance to major, and exam-oriented learning. In response, a remediation plan is proposed, aiming to stimulate learning interest, strengthen foundational skills, enhance classroom engagement, leverage technology and resources, promote cultural awareness and communication skills, and implement regular feedback and assessment. A new round of action research will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of this plan and make further improvements. The aim is to provide valuable insights and pave the way for tailored educational interventions to support the academic journey of these students.

The Influence of Organizational Climate on The Quality of Work of Employees At State 1 Batudaa Vocational High School Gorontalo District

Abstract This research aims to determine the magnitude of the influence of organizational climate on the quality of employee work at State Vocational School (SMK) 1 Batudaa, Gorontalo Regency. In the educational context, organizational climate is an important factor that can influence employee performance and productivity. Using a quantitative approach and survey methods, this research involved 37 people as a sample represented from various backgrounds at the institution. The use of simple regression analysis as a data analysis method allows researchers to determine the extent to which the relationship between organizational climate variables and employee work quality can be measured statistically. The results of the research show that organizational climate influences the quality of work of employees at State Vocational School (SMK) 1 Batudaa, Gorontalo Regency, with a coefficient value of 0.713 or 71.3%. This figure shows that more than two-thirds of employee work quality can be explained by organizational climate factors, which include aspects such as communication, managerial support, and work culture. These results indicate that organizational climate makes a significant contribution to the quality of work of teachers and education personnel, which in turn has an impact on the effectiveness of learning in schools. Thus, it is important for school management to create and maintain a positive organizational climate so that employees can work optimally and achieve the expected educational goals. This research also opens up opportunities for further research regarding interventions that can be carried out to improve the organizational climate, so that the quality of employee work can continue to be improved in order to create a better learning environment.

The odyssey of Turkish school leaders in Africa: An expedition into professional identity, challenges, and cultural adaptations

This phenomenological study explores the experiences of Turkish school leaders in international schools across 20 African countries, offering a novel perspective on educational leadership beyond the Anglo-Saxon context. In-depth interviews were conducted with 20 leaders selected through maximum variation sampling. The analysis revealed four themes: (i) factors that lead to working abroad, (ii) challenges of working abroad, (iii) perceived cultural similarities and differences, and (iv) reflections on international experiences. Findings illuminate a complex interplay of personal, altruistic, and professional factors driving these leaders’ decisions to work abroad. Participants reported navigating significant challenges at individual, professional, and environmental levels, necessitating the development of cultural intelligence, adaptive leadership styles, and crisis management skills. The study highlights a profound transformation in leaders’ professional identities from “outsiders” to “cultural mediators,” underscoring the critical role of culturally responsive leadership in diverse educational contexts. Results reveal how African sociocultural settings shape expatriate leaders’ mindsets, fostering more collaborative approaches and deeper cross-cultural appreciation. This highlights the evolution of leaders’ cultural understanding and effective communication skills, emphasizing the need for targeted support and professional development in cultural sensitivity and adaptive leadership. This research enhances the understanding of leadership complexities in multicultural settings, providing insights for global educational leadership and future research in cross-cultural management.

Living in a Digital World: Different Reflection on the Online Taoism Spreading

With the rise of the Internet and social media, Taoism’s ideas, symbols and other information have gradually come into the public’s view through Internet platforms. However, Taoist culture, as an excellent traditional Chinese culture, faces challenges and uncertainties when adapting to the new cultural communication methods in the digital age. In order to comprehensively understand the current status of Taoist culture’s online communication in the digital age and to promote the modernization of traditional Taoist culture, this study uses questionnaires and interviews to collect the views of two groups, Taoist priests and the general public, on online Taoist culture communication. The study found that although the Internet has facilitated the popularization of Taoist culture, its dissemination is relatively shallow and suffers from fragmentation of information and shallow understanding. Regarding online communication channels, Taoist priests support the integration of Taoist culture with digital society with an open attitude. However, the public wants to improve the accuracy and systematization of online communication. The study suggests that the participation of Taoist officials should be strengthened, and that the government and society should respect the objective laws of Taoist cultural development and reduce intervention to promote the transmission and development of Taoist culture in the digital age. This study helps to clarify the current situation of Taoist thought’s online dissemination and provides inspiration for authorities to promote the development of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
