Evaluation of Visual ConOps in Early Solution Validation in a Small and Medium‐sized Enterprise

AbstractThis paper focuses on the design, implementation, and assessment of the visual Concept of Operations (ConOps) as an informal visualization technique employed for early solution validation in Small and Medium‐sized Enterprises (SMEs). SMEs face significant challenges in early solution validation due to the complex nature of modern systems and the constantly changing market demands. These challenges may be further intensified by immature leadership and ineffective communication within the organization. By applying an industry‐as‐laboratory approach in an SME industry case, this study aims to reduce the negative impacts of miscommunication between internal and external stakeholders and contribute to needs elicitation and system validation process. The results show that visual ConOps can effectively support the need elicitation process, which is crucial for early validation, however, it may not independently serve as a comprehensive communication tool between the developer team and stakeholders. It is essential to supplement visual ConOps with complementary tools to effectively convey stakeholder input to the developer team.

Political Communication Strategy in the 2024 Indonesia’s Presidential Election

In every election, candidates employ various techniques to communicate their mission and vision to their respective voters. Winning an election depends on how good the candidate employs the various tools of communication, using both traditional mass media and social media. This research examines the political communication strategy used by Anies Baswedan during the Indonesian Presidential Election 2024. The objective of this research is to study the political communication style used by Anies Baswedan as a non-party political leader in garnering public support and winning the Presidential Elections. All the other presidential candidates contesting in the election are representing various political parties. All the feeds that were published in his Instagram account during the election were analysed. The analysed data is later triangulated with data from key informants to get an insight on Anies Baswedan’s political thoughts. Data from the Instagram account indicates that his team of communicators employs hashtags, news feed, political ads and visual styles to increase awareness among his voters, in the hope of influencing his voters. The various content published is found to be relevant and significant with the voters but is insufficient to win an election. Although he run initially as a non-political party candidate before gaining endorsement from a political party to run for President, he lost could be due to the lack of political infrastructure support that is needed to ensure his words spread throughout vast Indonesia archipelago. Lumina Eventix: OPTIMIZING EVENT MANAGEMENT THROUGH DIGITAL PLATFORMS

The proposed project is a comprehensive web-based Event Management System (EMS) designed to streamline the organization and management of various events, including conferences, workshops, concerts, weddings, and other ceremonies. This platform aims to provide a user-friendly interface for both event organizers and customers, facilitating the entire event planning process from inception to execution. Customers will be able to specify their event requirements, such as sound systems, food management, and other services. The system will then provide an estimated budget and suggest cost-effective ways to allocate their resources. Additionally, EMS will recommend the best event organizers based on the customer's budget and specific needs, enhancing the planning process with tailored suggestions. The platform will integrate secure payment gateways to handle transactions efficiently, ensuring a smooth process for both organizers and customers. The platform will offer robust registration management capabilities, allowing organizers to track attendee registrations, manage waitlists, and generate comprehensive reports. Embedded communication tools will enable organizers to send updates and reminders to attendees via email and SMS, ensuring seamless communication throughout the event lifecycle. Security and data privacy will be prioritized, with measures in place to protect user data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The platform will be built with scalability in mind, capable of handling events of varying sizes and complexities. In summary, this Event Management System aims to simplify the complexities associated with event organization, providing a one-stop solution that enhances efficiency, improves attendee engagement, and ultimately contributes to the success of any event. THE EFFECT OF FLY SWATTER GAME ON STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY FOR ELEVENTH GRADE

In learning English, vocabulary is one of the language aspects and is the most important component as a communication tool that students must master as a basis for mastering English. Vocabulary means basic knowledge and useful material in the form of words that are always used by students in learning a particular language. The aim of this research is to examine the effect of using the fly swatter game on the learning and vocabulary mastery of class XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Metro. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The researcher used the fly swatter game as a teaching technique in the experimental class, while the conventional teaching technique will used in the controlled class. The results of the study using hypothesis testing show that the first test uses a significance level of 5% or a significance level of 0.05. sig. (2-tailed). The t-count (1.420) is lower than the t-table (2,000) with a significance of (0.165) > 0.05. Therefore, it can be said that teaching English vocabulary mastery using the Fly Swatter Game is effective but not significant.

Recently, companies are using Metaverse as a communication tool with consumers to revitalize marketing. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to determine whether the informativeness of the metaverse mediates immersion and has a positive effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and whether the playfulness of the metaverse mediates immersion and has a positive effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The goal is to verify whether it has a positive impact. For this purpose, the concepts of variables and previous research were examined, and then a research hypothesis was established. Data collection for hypothesis testing was conducted targeting college students with a high understanding of the metaverse. Statistical analysis used regression analysis proposed by Baron and Kenny. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was verified that the informativeness of the metaverse partially mediates immersion and influences perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Second, it was verified that the playfulness of the metaverse partially mediates immersion and affects perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The above has the academic implications of confirming the relationship between research variables for the academic value and spread of the metaverse and the significance of presenting practical implications for activating corporate marketing using the metaverse.

Political Communication of Indonesian Presidential Candidates on Social Media

Social media has become a very important tool in political communication, especially in the face of presidential election contestation. This study aims to analyze Anies Baswedan's political communication on social media ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis method, this study examines Anies Baswedan's political communication content on social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The results showed that Anies Baswedan raised various themes and main issues in his political communication on social media, such as the economy, education, health, infrastructure, corruption, and environment. He uses a critical and vocal communication style in voicing opinions and criticizing government policies. His communication strategy also includes efforts to image himself as a leader who is vocal, critical, close to the people, experienced, competent, and concerned about environmental issues and sustainable development. Anies Baswedan's political communication on social media received diverse responses from audiences, ranging from support to intense criticism and debate. However, political communication on social media also faces a number of challenges and implications, such as political polarization, the spread of false information, black campaigns, and issues of digital campaign ethics.

Study on Cultural Consumption Characteristics of Museum Short Video Platforms under the Threshold of Identifier Economics

Purpose - This study examines museums’ operations on the Shakeology platform, elucidating the characteristics of museums’ cultural consumption in relation to identity, cultural identity, value identity, and the cluster effect of certified museums. The study explores how short video platforms can serve as effective tools for cultural communication and consumption promotion. Design/Methodology/Approach - The study utilizes qualitative research to investigate how museums utilize the Shakeology platform to create a diverse content ecosystem and improve audience engagement. Data is collected through the analysis of museum activities on the platform, including content types, interaction strategies, and audience engagement. It also examines how short video platforms differ from traditional media in terms of granular information processing and community interaction. Findings - Short video platforms are more effective in communication than traditional media due to their granular information processing and community interaction. Museums that focus on Shakeology can enhance consumers’ connection to cultural heritage, optimize market positioning, and improve audience interaction. Key characteristics of cultural consumption on the platform include enhanced cultural identity, value identity, and a significant cluster effect of certified museums, leading to a richer cultural experience for audiences. Research Implications - The study holds significant implications for museums aiming to utilize modern media for audience engagement and market positioning. By understanding cultural consumption dynamics on short video platforms, museums can customize content and interaction strategies to cultivate stronger audience connections. The study suggests that museums should continue to innovate and adapt to new media trends to enhance their cultural communication efforts.

Overview of the Foreign Language Sections in the Matriculation Exam in Poland and the University Entrance Exam in Türkiye

This paper highlights the contrasting approaches to foreign language assessment in high-stakes examinations for university education in Poland and Türkiye, focusing on content, task types, and language skills. In Poland, language acquisition is seen as a tool for effective communication, while in Türkiye, it is often perceived as rote memorization of grammar and vocabulary. This difference in mindset is influenced by prevailing assessment practices, where Türkiye’s evaluation methods prioritize memorization, leading to a diminished emphasis on communication and practical language use. This disparity is reflected in the EF English Proficiency Index, with Poland ranking high and Türkiye ranking low in language proficiency. Neglected language skills, such as speaking and listening, further exacerbate the issue. Despite discussions on transforming assessment practices for decades, Türkiye has made little progress. The practicality of multiple-choice-based tests in Türkiye is noted, but their limitations in testing language skills comprehensively are acknowledged.

Advancing Accessibility through Automatic Speech Recognition and NLP Integration

Abstract: The integration of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies has the potential to revolutionize accessibility and inclusive communication. This article explores the fundamentals of ASR, including acoustic modeling, language modeling, and speech signal processing techniques, and discusses the challenges posed by language diversity in developing accurate ASR systems. The advent of ASR technology has opened up numerous possibilities for enhancing accessibility across various domains, such as assistive technology, education, healthcare, and media. The integration of ASR with NLP techniques enables the processing and analysis of spoken language data, leading to the development of voice-enabled virtual assistants, conversational AI systems, and cross-lingual communication tools. However, several challenges remain, including the need for robust and accurate ASR systems, privacy and security concerns, and ethical considerations in the development and deployment of these technologies. The article also presents future directions, such as the integration of ASR and NLP with emotion recognition and sentiment analysis, advances in deep learning techniques, and the application of these technologies in healthcare and accessibility. Nilai Tanggung Jawab dalam Pementasan Wayang Wong dengan Lakon Kikis Tunggorono oleh Sanggar Wiraga Apuletan

Character education is an important component in developing the personality of each individual in a nation. The government's efforts to support the development of education are evidenced by the existence of Presidential Regulation No 87 of 2017 article 2 which states that there are 18 character education values, one of which is responsibility. However, the efforts made by the government have not been successful. The number of cases of misuse of power is clear evidence that the value of responsibility has not been applied properly in each individual. The lack of the value of responsibility for a mandate is the background of the research on the value of responsibility character education in the wayang wong performance with the play "Kikis Tunggorono". This research was conducted because of the value of responsibility character education in the wayang wong performance with the play "Kikis Tunggorono" by Wiraga Apuletan studio. The wayang wong performance of the play "Kikis Tunggorono" can be a medium in conveying the value of responsibility. Because the cultural approach can be an effective communication tool. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, video analysis, and uses literature study as a basis for collecting data. The results of this study show that the value of responsibility is clearly depicted in every scene and every character in the wayang wong performance.

Pataka: Media Informasi dalam Kegiatan Mahasiswa

In the current era where everything is instantaneous, things can be done using the internet or online media so that something to be done can be done more effectively, such as disseminating information online is easier than disseminating information offline. Social media has become the dominant communication medium used by society and as a medium for obtaining information, including among students. In the midst of the onslaught of online media, offline media, named Pataka, still exists today. This article deals with this. This research using a qualitative approach was carried out in Makassar City between September and December at Hasanuddin University. Those who participated in this research were 10 college students, consisting of three women and seven men, aged between 19 and 21 years, who were recruited using purposive sampling. The findings of this research show that pataka is interpreted in relation to three aspects, namely: pataka as a visual communication tool, sacred media, representation/symbol of student body, and marker for the location of the implementation of students’ body activities. Pataka have various shapes and functions: small square pataka, large square pataka, and rectangular pataka. The small square pataka functions as a marker for activities carried out outside the campus. The large square pataka serves to place the institution's logo. Although large square pataka can be used outside or inside campus, generally large square pataka is used for stage backgrounds. Meanwhile, the rectangular pataka functions as a welcome banner. Even though in this current era the onslaught of technology is so powerful, pataka as an offline medium is still used among college students. The fundamental aspects that underlies why pataka still exists today because pataka has become part of the tradition of a student body in their institutional activities. Apart from that, the existence of pataka is also a symbol of unity and solidarity of student body members.

Catering to distinct user groups, it empowers users with a comprehensive property database searchable by location and desired features. Additionally, users can leverage a built-in loan calculator (depending on implementation) for financial planning and potentially express interest in suitable properties. Admins, on the other hand, benefit from comprehensive management functionalities. These include user account management, property listing creation, editing, and availability control. The system also offers the potential to manage real estate agents, further enhancing its functionality for larger organizations. This user-centric approach prioritizes a user-friendly interface that simplifies searching, listing management, and overall interaction with the system. To ensure data security and integrity, the system implements robust role-based access control, restricting access to sensitive information based on user roles. Furthermore, a powerful search function facilitates efficient property discovery, allowing users to find their ideal properties with minimal effort. A genre-based approach in ESP classes to teaching clinical communication focusing on breaking bad news to patients

Healthcare professionals have the responsibility to regularly convey difficult information such as unfavourable diagnoses, as well as adverse treatment outcomes. While this task can be uncomfortable, successfully carrying it out plays a crucial role in determining patient outcomes (Sweeney et al. 2011: 230). This necessity has led to the creation of evidence-based protocols such as SPIKES developed by Baile et al. (2000). The goal of the paper is to explore the suitability of the genre-based approach for the study and teaching of medical English, focusing on the integration of the selected clinical communication tool into the ESP classroom. As this study stems from the ESP practitioner’s experience and its outcomes will directly influence her future ESP classroom teaching, action research has been conducted. The feasibility of using an authentic clinical tool in an ESP lesson was assessed through a two-step methodology: i) devising an ESP task based on the SPIKES protocol, emphasizing linguistic elements, and ii) obtaining student feedback focusing on the perceived usefulness of the tool. Overall, the collected data indicate that students acknowledged the significance of effective clinical communication for successful therapeutic practice. However, given the fact that medical English is inconveniently scheduled in a pre-clinical phase of their curriculum, they also exhibited a certain level of hesitancy, unsurprisingly, when it came to readiness in handling serious communication scenarios.

Learning Sustainability: Post-Graduate Students’ Perceptions on the Use of Social Media Platforms to Enhance Academic Writing

Academic writing is a vital element in any post-graduate study. Therefore, it is crucial to harness all the tools and capabilities available to serve this purpose. These capabilities include the digital tools that characterize the current era. This paper aims to explore post-graduate students’ perceptions of the use of social media platforms to enhance academic writing during the COVID-19 pandemic who are enrolled in the Master of Educational Technology in our institution, Saudi Arabia. The study followed a qualitative research methodology and used semi-structured interviews with ten students to gather data. Thematic analysis was applied. The results showed that post-graduate students value the role of the use of social media platforms in enhancing their academic writing. The findings also showed the advantages, disadvantages, and obstacles of the use of social media platforms in enhancing their academic writing. The implications of this study can inform post-graduate supervisors to reconsider the benefits of social media platforms as high-value communication tools in enhancing the skills of academic writing. Thus, they may adopt, employ, and blend them with traditional methods of communication in their efforts to develop their students’ academic writing skills. Using social media platforms for learning academic writing during the COVID-19 pandemic may mirror the fourth goal of sustainable development. The implications of the study over post-pandemic postgraduate education have been discussed.

Measuring the adoption of internet and communication technologies among practitioners in routine disability services: a stepped inclusive approach

Purpose Existing measurements of the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among practitioners in disability services often treat ICT adoption as a monolithic concept, overlooking its multifaceted nature within the disability field. This study introduces a stepped, inclusive approach to capturing this complexity, elucidating disparities in the utilization of various ICT dimensions, the present vs. anticipated use, and variations among different clinical-demographic groups. Materials and methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Hong Kong, gathering valid data from 324 practitioners spanning diverse disciplines and disability services. Results Data analysis produced a three-factor model categorizing ICT tools into (1) information and communication tools, (2) screening and monitoring tools, and (3) treatment and rehabilitation tools. The first category was identified as the predominant ICT utilized currently, with significant projected growth in the latter two categories’ usage. Variances in current ICT adoption were influenced by practitioners’ roles, clientele, positions, affiliating agencies, and educational attainments. Conclusions This research provides a deeper understanding of the key dimensions of ICT adoption within disability services. It underscores the importance of devising specific and customized strategies for the effective integration of ICTs, ensuring a more tailored approach to meeting the unique demands of the disability field.

A Synthesis on Impact Assessment Models from the Perspective of Evolution of the EU Common Agricultural Policy

Purpose: This paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the current quantitative impact assessment methodologies, examining their strengths and weaknesses in terms of data requirements, as well as their consideration of social, economic, and environmental factors. Furthermore, it aims to elucidate the necessity for new-generation agricultural impact assessment models to incorporate advancements in information technology, communication tools, and big data analytics. Design/Methodology/Approach: In this review, the term "agricultural modelling platforms" is used to denote different equilibrium models and these models are divided into two categories according on their methodological approaches. The first category adopts a "systems approach," which includes general and partial equilibrium type models, as well as sector models. The "agent-based approach" is used by the second category. This review, thus, is primarily concerned with contrasting farm-representative models with farm-based models. Findings: The study emphasizes the importance of methodology and criteria in modelling exercises, considering factors like analysis level, environmental impact, and relationship between agriculture and the environment. It suggests that selecting the right modelling scale and tool requires asking the right research questions in advance. Originality/Value: In this study, general and partial equilibrium models, which allow impact analysis of policies implemented in the agricultural sector, which is increasingly faced with ecological and social problems, and Agent Based Models (ABM), which allow the problems in question to be included in the models, are compared and provided guidance to policy makers. It is aimed to reveal their advantages/disadvantages against each other. The originality of this study is that this comparison is made by taking into account the evolution of the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) since its establishment.

A Resident Led Newsletter Is a Powerful Communication Tool.

Communication with stakeholders for a graduate medical education (GME) program depends on shared visual and written content. Residency training programs are embracing social media as a communication channel. However, curated information that may only be viewed by subscribers or followers is difficult to archive and may appear overwhelming to novice users. An electronic, printable newsletter may be a unique communication tool for training programs to share information among residents, faculty, and hospital administration. We published a monthly electronic newsletter sent to all residents, teaching faculty, and additional stakeholders in our internal medicine residency program. We conducted an electronic anonymous survey and sent it to all residents in February 2023 and January 2024. The survey consisted of 5 questions to assess the satisfaction level of the newsletter. Sixty of 232 (25.9%) residents completed the survey. Of those, 44 (73.3%) residents were very satisfied regarding overall satisfaction, 39 (65.0%) residents were very satisfied with the overall content, and 42 (70.0%) residents were very satisfied with the timeliness of the information presented. Thirty-six (60%) residents reported the importance of having a resident-led newsletter. We found an overall high satisfaction level in a resident-led newsletter based on a survey completed by residents within our program. Most survey respondents deemed resident leadership crucial for the newsletter. We also received strong positive feedback from key stakeholders ranging from hospital administration to residency applicants.

Causal Factors Contributing to Youth Cyberbullying in the Deep South of Thailand.

Violence against each other via social media has increased and caused cyberbullying that can happen anytime through electronic communication tools that everyone can access easily. Cyberbullying is sending, posting, and sharing negative, harmful, and false information about another, causing embarrassment online on social media. This study aims to investigate causal factors contributing to youth cyberbullying in Thailand's deep south. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 340 youths in Thailand's deep south, consisting of 220 males and 120 females. The subjects were divided by age range: 22-23 years old (40.6%), 24-25 years old (26.8%), 18-19 years old (17.1%), and 18-19 years old (15.5%). The data were analyzed with structural equation modeling (SEM). The results were that the model of the causal factors resulting in youth cyberbullying in the deep south of Thailand was consistent with the empirical data (the relative chi-square (χ2/df) was 1.77). The goodness-of-fit index (GFI) was 0.95. The root-mean-square error of approximate (RMSEA) was 0.049). Cyberbullying was positively influenced directly and indirectly by negative upbringing, the influence of personal violence, and the influence of media violence at a statistically significant level of 0.001, with total effect sizes of 1.13, 0.74, and 0.64, respectively. Additionally, cyberbullying was positively influenced directly by negative mental traits with a statistically significant level of 0.05 and a total effect size of 0.17. This study suggests that the results could be beneficial in concretely forming policies and strategies to prevent and mitigate the problem of youth cyberbullying.
