The research aims to determine the value content of the LEARNING concept in Chinese idioms as a means of explicating moral principles and behavioural rules of the Chinese linguocultural community. This concept occupies a central place in the Chinese conceptual sphere, since the learning process is continuous and accompanies a person throughout their entire life. The paper analyses the axiological parameters of the LEARNING concept embedded in Chinese idioms (chéngyǔ) as the most expressive means of the modern Chinese language; proposes a classification of the selected idiomatic units based on the type of a cultural value or anti-value that is characteristic of each value-semantic link in the axiological space of the specified concept. The research is novel in that it is the first to involve idiomatic expressions for the purpose of studying the Chinese linguocultural LEARNING concept. As a result of the research, the composition of Chinese chéngyǔ verbalising the said concept has been determined, the culture-specific content of the concept has been described, value orientations to learning in the Chinese linguocultural community have been revealed.
