Background: The Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) is a form of evaluation implemented by the Indonesian government in order to measure the achievement of graduate competencies at certain levels of education. However, the implementation of UNBK also presents its own challenges for students, especially in terms of technological readiness and the ability to adapt to computer-based systems.. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of information technology and communication guidance, motivation, and understanding of computer use on the readiness of 9th grade students to deal with computer-based national examinations in SMP Negeri Se-Kecamatan Pajangan. Method: The type of this research is quantitative research, which is carried out in the Public Middle School in Pajangan Subdistrict, Bantul, DIY. The method of collecting data through a survey with a questionnaire, with a population of 464 and a sample of 210. The analysis technique of the study used a prerequisite test of descriptive analysis, normality, linearity, multicollinearity and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS 23. Findings: Simultaneous multiple linear regression test results obtained f count of 18,199 greater than f table of 2,65, then between information technology and communication guidance, motivation and understanding of computer use affect the readiness of 9th grade students in dealing with UBNK. Based on the results of this study, the authors suggest several things: (1) The Education Agency should propose that information and communication technology be re-incorporated into the curriculum structure, (2) Teachers are advised to motivate students to be better prepared to face the UNBK, (3) Students are advised to better understand computer usage and matters related to the implementation of UNBK.

Wanting to be "accepted and heard": Perspectives about cessation messages from LGBTQ+ individuals who dual use cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

Dual use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes is especially prevalent among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) adults in the US. This is concerning as health risks of dual use may be as high or higher than exclusive smoking. We sought to learn about people who dual use and identify as LGBTQ+'s perspectives about dual use, quitting, and cessation ads. Nineteen LGBTQ+ adults who dual use participated in virtual semi-structured interviews in North Carolina in 2022. We asked about perceptions of smoking and vaping in LGBTQ+ communities, their thoughts about quitting, and their opinions on four cessation ads. The ads advocated quitting one or both products. Transcripts were coded using ATLAS.ti and reviewed using a thematic content analysis approach. Participants described how within LGBTQ+ communities, smoking and vaping are common and accepted and are used to cope or to socialize. Most participants made past quit attempts. Many said they were not ready to quit both products, but some were open to quitting smoking. Some thought e-cigarettes may be as harmful as cigarettes, reducing their motivation to quit smoking cigarettes due to the lack of perceived health benefits. Participants sought cessation ads that explicitly address dual use and are representative and supportive. They disliked ads that felt stereotypical or patronizing. Dual use in LGBTQ+ communities appears driven by both internal and external pressures. Participants were generally open to quitting cigarettes, and LGBTQ+ smoking cessation may be best encouraged with authentic ads that explicitly address both products. These qualitative findings about smoking and vaping among LGBTQ+ individuals provide guidance for communication ad campaign design to help reduce the high dual use rates among LGBTQ+ young adults.

Through Ecocriticism and Affect Theory, Exploring Climate Change Artistry: The Ice Receding/Books Reseeding Project

This article delves into the Ice Receding/Books Reseeding project of multidisciplinary artist Basia Irland through the lenses of ecocriticism and affect theory, uncovering its profound significance as a climate change artwork. An example of participatory artwork utilizing transmedia storytelling, this project provides a transformative platform that immerses audiences in the realities of non-human climate change impacts. Through an ecocritical examination, the article explores the intricate dynamics of human-non-human relationships depicted in the project, while affect theory sheds light on the emotional responses it evokes. Ultimately, I argue that participatory art is a crucial tool for climate change communication and activism, advocating for its broader adoption in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainability through the direct involvement of participants. Analyzing Irland’s Ice Receding/Books Reseeding project, the article underscores the potential of climate change art as a powerful medium for effective environmental communication and offers practical guidance for communicators aiming to optimize its impact.

Patients and clinicians have different priorities when discussing pain in the IBD clinic.

Pain in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is frequently neglected/overlooked, particularly in ulcerative colitis, and communication about pain can be suboptimal. The current study juxtaposes clinicians' conceptualisations of patients' pain with patient narratives. The aim was to inform the development of a pain reporting tool and provide guidance for better communication about IBD pain. In-depth semistructured interviews with 13 IBD clinicians in the UK: gastroenterologists (n=5), colorectal surgeons (n=2), specialist nurses (n=4) and psychologists (n=2). Primary analysis of these data and secondary analysis of earlier interviews about pain in IBD with clinicians (n=12) and patients (n=71) followed principles of reflexive thematic analysis. Themes were compared across participant groups. Clinicians state that they regularly ask about pain in Crohn's disease, but not ulcerative colitis. Patients, however, report inconsistent attention to pain in either condition, with power dynamics constraining their pain report. Some clinicians acknowledged that they assume that patients manage their pain independently, leading to insufficient follow-up (Theme 1: Contradictions and ambiguities when discussing pain in IBD). Inadequate acknowledgement of pain by clinicians was attributed to time constraints and systemic issues. Where inflammatory or structural causes were lacking, some clinicians default to attributing pain to irritable bowel syndrome, contributing to patients feeling uncared for (Theme 2: Consequences of limited tools and time for pain). Addressing pain was further complicated by the reluctance of some patients to express discomfort or pain and others who avoided activities that might lead to pain (Theme 3: Addressing pain in patients who do not complain). The study emphasises the importance of consistent pain evaluation and management, advocating for more open dialogues between clinicians and patients.

Using Short-Form Videos to Get Clinical Trial Newcomers to Sign Up: Message-Testing Experiment.

Recruiting participants for clinical trials poses challenges. Major barriers to participation include psychological factors (eg, fear and mistrust) and logistical constraints (eg, transportation, cost, and scheduling). The strategic design of clinical trial messaging can help overcome these barriers. While strategic communication can be done through various channels (eg, recruitment advertisements), health care providers on the internet have been found to be key sources for communicating clinical trial information to US adults in the social media era. This study aims to examine how communication source (ie, medical doctors and peers) and message framing of TikTok videos (ie, psychological and logistical framing) influence clinical trial-related attitudes, perceptions, and sign-up behaviors under the guidance of the integrated behavioral model. This study used a 2 (source: doctor vs peer) × 2 (framing: psychological vs logistical) between-participant factorial design web-based experiment targeting adults in the United States who had never participated in clinical trials (ie, newcomers). A Qualtrics panel was used to recruit and compensate the study respondents (n=561). Participants viewed short-form videos with doctors or peers, using psychological or logistical framing. The main outcome measures included perceived source credibility, self-efficacy, attitude toward clinical trial participation, behavioral intention, and sign-up behavior. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the direct and indirect effects of message factors on the outcome variables. Source (doctor=1; peer=0) and framing (psychological=1; logistical=0) were dummy-coded. Doctor-featured messages led to greater perceived source credibility (β=.31, P<.001), leading to greater self-efficacy (95% CI 0.13-0.30), which in turn enhanced behavioral intention (95% CI 0.12-0.29) and clinical trial sign-up behavior (95% CI 0.02-0.04). Logistical barrier-framed messages led to greater self-efficacy (β=-.09, P=.02), resulting in higher intention to participate in clinical trials (95% CI -0.38 to -0.03) and improved sign-up behavior (95% CI -0.06 to -0.004). Logistical barrier-framed messages were also directly associated with an increased likelihood of signing up for a clinical trial (β=-.08, P=.03). The model accounted for 21% of the variance in clinical trial sign-up behavior. Attitude did not significantly affect behavioral intention in this study (β=.08, P=.14), and psychological and logistical barrier-framed messages did not significantly differ in attitudes toward clinical trial participation (β=-.04, P=.09). These findings advance our understanding of how people process popular message characteristics in short-form videos and lend practical guidance for communicators. We encourage medical professionals to consider short-form video sites (eg, TikTok and Instagram Reels) as effective tools for discussing clinical trials and participation opportunities. Specifically, featuring doctors discussing efforts to reduce logistical barriers is recommended. Our measuring of actual behavior as an outcome is a rare and noteworthy contribution to this research.

Implementation of a hospital-based end-of-life and bereavement care program in a latin American middle-income country. A source of light and compassion in the midst of cloudy times

BackgroundThe death of a child is one of the most devastating events a family can face, resulting in significant physical and psychosocial morbidity. Bereavement support programs have been developed in high-income contexts to address this need. However, little is known about implementing bereavement programs in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). Here, we describe the implementation of a bereavement program for parents whose children died due to cancer or other catastrophic illnesses.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective analysis to describe the implementation of a hospital-based End of Life (EoL) care and bereavement program. This program was developed in several stages, including an assessment of bereaved families, development program guidelines, staff training, piloting of the program, refinement, and standardization. The program was developed between 2019 and 2021 in a nonprofit, teaching hospital and referral center for southwestern Colombia.ResultsSeveral tools were developed as key components of the bereavement program: a virtual bereavement course; guidance for EoL and bereavement communication and care, memory making, and follow-up calls; a condolence letter template, and group support workshops. A total of 956 healthcare professionals were trained, 258 follow-up calls to bereaved parents were made, 150 individual psychological follow-ups to parents with complicated grief occurred, 79 condolence letters were sent, and 10 support group workshops were carried out. Challenges were identified and overcome, such as limited resources and staff, and cultural perceptions of death. In 2021, this program received an award by the hospital as the Best Strategy to Humanize Healthcare.ConclusionsThis study highlights the feasibility of developing and implementing EoL and bereavement care programs for parents and families within hospitals in LMICs. Lack of resources, staff, and training are some of the identified challenges to implementation. Utilizing methodological tools allows us to identify facilitator factors and deliverable outcomes of our EoL and bereavement program. This model provides a valuable framework for resource-limited settings.

Informal Communication: A Path to Success for Internal Auditors

SUMMARY The newly issued 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards recognize the need for informal communication for the first time, highlighting the vital role of informal communication in facilitating effective information flow and building relationships between internal auditors and their stakeholders. Frequent informal communication can significantly enhance the benefits of formal reporting by helping internal auditors gain deeper knowledge of the organizational culture and dynamics, nurture mutual understanding of internal audit work, and take a comprehensive perspective on risk. Drawing upon data gathered through interviews, surveys, and audit committee charters, we find that informal communication between internal auditors and the audit committee plays a pivotal role in obtaining audit committee support and building strong relationships. However, there is a significant gap between current practice and the new guidance for informal communication. We discuss implications of the new standards and offer suggestions to improve informal communication.

Parents' Experiences of Communicating With Children About Their Diagnosis of Nonterminal Cancer and Its Related Issues: A Systematic Review of Qualitative Studies.

Many children experience serious symptoms when they are diagnosed with and treated for cancer. Through appropriate parent-child communication, parents were able to identify children's physical and psychological problems, adjust their behavior, and help them cope with the disease. This study aimed to systematically search for and integrate evidence from qualitative studies on communication between parents and children with nonterminal cancer from parents' perspectives. A thorough systematic review and metasynthesis of qualitative studies were conducted. Articles were searched from PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and PsycArticles from the database inception to November 6, 2022. After screening and quality appraisal, 14 articles were finally included in the metasynthesis. Three themes and 11 subthemes were identified: (1) communication content, including diagnosis, treatment, health management, health risk, and emotion; (2) factors influencing communication, including ages of children, parents' experience of communication, parents' awareness of protection, and culture; and (3) children's responses, including acceptance and resistance. This systematic review found that parents were influenced by various factors during the decision-making process of parent-child communication about childhood cancer and its related issues. Parents tended to adjust their communication content and style to protect their children. Future research should be conducted to explore children's experiences of communicating with their parents and analyze the similarities and differences between the communication needs of parents and children. Healthcare professionals should provide professional communication guidance to facilitate the parent-child relationship and improve the mental health of both children and their parents.

Nutrition Today: Nutrition/Health Communications: Teaching Sourcing, Vetting, Discerning

Nutrition and food science and other health science communicators have faced a number of significant challenges over the past several decades, as the information landscape has evolved. The growth of Web-based science communication sources and, especially, social media’s impact on information dissemination have thoroughly transformed what was once strictly the purview of science and health journals. To meet the changing challenges, the present authors have published a series of articles presenting guidance for communicators in navigating the evolving information environment. In response to a number of questions from colleagues about how to seek and evaluate sound scientific information and to address the growing online repository of dubious food and health recommendations, the authors are addressing in the present article some modern themes. In particular, the article focuses on communicators’ evolving needs: where to go for accurate science-based information—how to guide the public to sound health and nutrition information and also how consumers might vet information sites online and how the public can be encouraged to develop new critical science-consumption skills and practical skepticism in the face of competing “information” claims.

Understanding patients’ perspectives of clinical communication within a Major Trauma Centre

Clinical communication between major trauma patients (MTP) and healthcare professionals is extremely complex. Multiple demands are placed on specialist multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) and patients in all stages of treatment. Patient-staff clinical communication has an integral role in MTP healthcare experiences, supporting them with a range of physical and psychological difficulties post-injury. This study aimed to understand MTP perspectives of clinical communication within a MTC through qualitative semi-structured interviews. Twenty participants were purposively sampled from an outpatient follow-up clinic and interviews were analysed using a pluralistic qualitative approach. Three themes were conceptualised from the data; “Challenges to speaking up” “Conversations left me feeling” and “Strategies need to be clinical but tailored”. Patients often found it challenging to speak up due to feelings of vulnerability, confusion, and challenges navigating medical terminology. Patients spoke of not wanting to burden staff and family members playing a role in patient-staff communication, but these challenges require further exploration. Patients highlighted the positive (feel reassured, cared for, and human again) and negative (feeling like an object, angry, confused, and dependent) emotional impact of staff communication. Patients also described the benefits of being provided with written information, clear explanations of injuries and person-centred communication. MTP require multiple options to communicate and address psychological difficulties. Greater training on the emotional impact of conversations, skills to respond to psychological distress and communication guidance for staff, is needed to improve clinical communication with MTP.

Communicating Nutritional Knowledge to the Chinese Public: Examining Predictive Factors of User Engagement on TikTok in China.

This study aims to identify content variables that theoretical research suggests should be considered as strategic approaches to facilitate science communication with the public and to assess their practical effects on user engagement metrics. Data were collected from the official Chinese TikTok account (Douyin) of the Nutrition Research Institute of China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation, China's largest state-owned food processing conglomerate. Dependent variables included likes, shares, comments, subscription increases. Independent variables encompassed explanation of jargon (metaphor, personification, science visualization), communication remarks (conclusion presence, recommendation presence), and content themes. Descriptive analysis and negative binomial regression were employed, with statistical significance set at 0.05. First, subscription increases were positively associated with personification (p < 0.05, 0.024) and science visualization (p < 0.01, 0.000). Second, a positive relationship existed between comments and communicator recommendations (p < 0.01, 0.000), while presenting conclusions negatively correlated with shares (p < 0.05, 0.012). Different strategies yielded improvements in various engagement metrics. This can provide practical guidance for communicators, emphasizing the need to balance scholarly presentation with sustaining appealing statistics.

Workers’ Perceptions Regarding Approaches To Intercultural Communication In The Workplace: A Study In A South African University

The workforce in South Africa has seen significant transformation, with many organizations now collaborating with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Cultural diversity influences behavior and interactions among employees, who may find it challenging to navigate communication with colleagues from different cultures. This article explores workers' perceptions of intercultural communication approaches in the workplace. Using a qualitative case study design, the study involved ten professionals from various departments at a South African university. The findings reveal a lack of a comprehensive plan for conscious intercultural communication at the university. Employees noted the absence of strategic communication guidance and inconsistent management of intercultural communication across the institution. The study suggests formalizing management intentions into a policy or framework to standardize intercultural communication practices university-wide. The research aims to guide the university towards a formal, coordinated and unified intercultural communication strategy. Complementary findings from various sources contribute to comprehensive conclusions for developing this strategy, intended to enhance intercultural communication effectiveness.

Up and Down: Insights from a creative approach to online interactions with very young children

ABSTRACT This paper offers guidance for remote communication with young children based on an interpretive study of participants engaged in an online Theatre for Early Years (TEY) event, Up and Down. Drawing on practices used for in-person performance, the theatre-makers engaged interactively with children aged 1 and 2 and their accompanying adults through a conference video call. Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was used as an approach to generate themes from observation, and interviews with the parents. Three master themes were generated: Missing Live Performance, Unfiltered Response and Human Connection. The discussion was informed by relational pedagogies and the concept of cultural value. Those engaging with young children through video call software are encouraged to look for ways to create embodied, sensory, and ‘magical’ experiences; collaborate with the adults present; and take a strengths-based approach to the medium.

Understanding communication between patients and healthcare professionals regarding comprehensive biomarker testing in precision oncology: A scoping review.

Precision oncology, using comprehensive biomarker testing (cBT) to inform individual cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, includes increasingly complex technology and clinical data sets. People impacted by cancer (patients and caregivers) and healthcare professionals (HCPs) face distinct challenges in navigating the cBT and personalized treatment landscape. This review summarizes evidence regarding cBT-related communication between people impacted by cancer and HCPs and identifies important avenues for future research in precision oncology. A scoping review was conducted using records published in PubMed during January 2017-August 2022, focusing on the breadth of topics on patient-HCP communication and knowledge resources used by HCPs as guidance in cBT-related communication. Data were extracted from records meeting inclusion criteria, and findings were summarized according to main topics. The search identified 287 unique records and data were extracted from 42 records, including nine from expert input. Most records originated from the United States included patients with different types of cancer, and oncologists were the main HCPs. Patients' motivation for undergoing cBT and receiving results was generally high in different settings. However, patients' understanding of cBT-related concepts was limited, and their knowledge and information preferences changed based on cBT implications and significance to family members. HCPs were valued by patients as a trusted source of information. Limited evidence was available on HCPs' information-seeking behavior and factors influencing cBT-related knowledge and confidence, often self-reported as insufficient. Patient education by knowledgeable and confident HCPs, information management and a caring patient-HCP relationship communicating continuity of care regardless of cBT results are crucial to empower patients and shared decision-making in precision oncology. More data on the process and structure of cBT-related communication, distinction between and characterization of different timepoints of patient-HCP interactions are needed.

After writing hundreds of manuscripts and thus having battled and succeeded in this “minefield”, and knowing the importance of guidance for successful science communication, particularly for beginners, we have tried to introduce readers to the art of scientific writing, from A to Ω. To help less experienced scientific writers to learn quickly and overcome some initial barriers, avoiding common mistakes that we ourselves have also made, we discuss the most important techniques we have used in trying to write clear, comprehensible, and concise manuscripts that are as attractive and impacting as possible. This guide therefore offers crucial tips and concepts - from the very first words, initial draft, and on to submission, “battles” with reviewers and finally to acceptance and publication. The ethical use of artificial intelligence tools, along with some best practice suggestions for their application, is also presented and discussed. In the end, readers should have a comprehensive picture to help them understand basic manuscript structures and major features, habits and tips that help ensure excellence in scientific writing.

Early phase clinical trials in pediatric oncology: Swedish pediatric oncologists' experiences of balancing hope and expectations in life-threatening illnesses.

To study Swedish pediatric oncologists' practical and emotional experiences of referring, including and/or treating children in early-phase clinical trials. A nationwide study was conducted using a mixed-method approach. Structured interviews based on a study-specific questionnaire and participants' personal reflections were utilized. Survey responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while participants' comments were analyzed using thematic analysis. All interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. In total, 29 physicians with 4 to 32 years of experience in pediatric oncology participated, with 19 (66%) having > 10 years of experience. Three themes appeared: 1) Optimization-based approach focused on finding the most suitable treatment and care for every child with a refractory/relapsed cancer eligible for an early-phase clinical trial; 2) Team-based approach aimed at establishing local and national consensus in decision-making for treatment options, including early-phase clinical trials and palliative care; 3) Family-based approach in which the physicians provided families with actionable information, listened to their desires, and endeavored to maintain hope in challenging circumstances. Several participants (40% with ≤ 10 years of experience and 58% with > 10 years of experience) viewed the early-phase clinical trial as a potential "chance of cure". A majority (80%) of physicians with ≤ 10 years of experience, reported that they often or always felt personally and emotionally affected by communication regarding early-phase clinical trials. Delivering difficult news in cases of uncertain prognosis was identified as the major challenge. None of the study participants felt adequately prepared in terms of sufficient knowledge and experience regarding early-phase clinical trials. The physicians expressed a need for guidance and training in communication to address these challenges. Working with early-phase clinical trials highlight a field where physicians cannot solely rely on their expertise or past experiences, and where they are likely to be deeply emotionally involved. Physicians who care for children eligible for such studies require targeted educational initiatives and supervision.

COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES FOR DEPRESCRIBING BISPHOSPHONATES IN NURSING HOME RESIDENTS WITH DEMENTIA

Abstract Bisphosphonates are potential targets for deprescribing in nursing home residents with dementia as goals of care change from preventive to palliative. Yet, prescribers lack communication guidance to address deprescribing. We sought to characterize and compare communication preferences of prescribers and family/informal caregivers regarding bisphosphonate deprescribing. We conducted 23 semi-structured interviews with prescribers (12) and caregivers (11). Prescribers and caregivers were asked to provide their impressions of 7 conversation starters for discussing deprescribing bisphosphonates. A qualitative framework analysis was used to identify themes throughout the interviews across the following domains: content of communication, relationship between communicators, and preferred communication styles. Among prescribers, there were 10 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners; most (9) were female and White. Among caregivers, 8 were female, 7 were White, and 5 were Latino/a; most (9) had a post-secondary degree. The most preferred deprescribing conversation starter for prescribers focused on increased risk of adverse effects, while caregivers most preferred a discussion weighing risks versus benefits. The least preferred conversation starter for deprescribing across both groups focused on the extra effort and cost of continuing bisphosphonates. Similarities and differences between prescribers and caregivers regarding important topics for deprescribing conversations were identified, including quality of life, risk versus benefit, and shared decision-making. While caregivers and prescribers agreed on some communication preferences, this study highlights nuanced differences in preferred communication about deprescribing bisphosphonates. The results of this study may contribute to clinical guidance for prescribers and education materials for caregivers to facilitate more effective conversations about deprescribing bisphosphonates.

Developing a Collaborative Agenda-Setting Intervention (CASI) to promote patient-centered communication in ovarian cancer care: A design thinking approach

ObjectivesPatient-centered communication (PCC) occurs when clinicians respond to patients’ needs, preferences, and concerns. While PCC is associated with better health-related quality of life in patients with cancer, patients with ovarian cancer have reported unmet communication needs. We used design thinking to develop an intervention to promote PCC in ovarian cancer care. MethodsFollowing the steps of design thinking, we empathized with stakeholders by reviewing the literature, then created stakeholder and journey maps to define the design challenge. To ideate solutions, we developed a challenge map. Finally, we developed wireframe prototypes and tested them with stakeholders. ResultsEmpathizing revealed that misaligned visit priorities precipitated suboptimal communication. Defining the design challenge and ideating solutions highlighted the need to normalize preference assessments, promote communication self-efficacy, and enhance visit efficiency. The Collaborative Agenda-Setting Intervention (CASI) elicits patients’ needs and preferences and delivers communication guidance at the point of care. Stakeholders approved of the prototype. ConclusionDesign thinking provided a systematic approach to empathizing with stakeholders, identifying challenges, and innovating solutions. Practice ImplicationsTo our knowledge, the CASI is the first intervention to set the visit agenda and support communication from within the electronic health record. Future research will assess its usability and acceptability.

The impact of risk communication, trust, and coping appraisal on individual preparedness decisions in geological hazard-prone areas

The favorable development conditions for hazards and the expansion of human activities have made the management of geological hazard risks in mountainous areas increasingly complex. It has been pointed out that deep participation of individuals in disaster governance within risk-prone areas is essential for socialized disaster reduction. There is a relative lack of research on the decision-making processes of individual geological disaster preparedness, in which the complex relationship between risk communication and disaster preparedness decisions deserves particular attention. This study constructed a model of disaster preparedness decision-making based on risk communication and protection motivation theory with risk information, fear, trust, and coping appraisal as factors, and collected and analyzed cross-sectional data in Ganluo County, Sichuan Province, China. The results show that risk information plays a significant positive role in promoting individual disaster preparedness willingness. Additionally, trust and coping appraisal have a significant positive impact on preparedness willingness and play a crucial mediating role in the influence of risk information on disaster preparedness decisions. Based on the model results and the field study, the rationality of the factors' performance in the model results and the reasons for the discrepancy with expectations, as well as the critical time and content of risk communication, are discussed. The research provides references for decision-makers to understand the process of public disaster preparedness decision-making and offers theoretical guidance and practical suggestions for geological disaster risk communication and risk governance.
