Russia in A.V. Mishin’s Lyrics (The Level of Proper Names)

Using the analysis of the proper names (mainly toponyms), the article considers the topic of a small homeland in the lyrics of a famous modern Smolensk poets, Alexei Viktorovich Mishin (1936–2009), who would have turned 85 in
 2021. It is proved that he is a bright representative of the Smolensk Poetic School
 of a new generation, that is distinguished by Adrian Vladimirovich Makedonov,
 a famous Soviet literary critic from Smolensk, in 1960.
 The onomastic fragment of the poet’s work allows us to identify common fea-
 tures in the poetic work of the founders of the Smolensk Poetic School and
 A.V. Mishin: a special pathos of the Smolensk region, Smolensk community, love for
 the native land, glorifying a small homeland, native places. We have thoroughly an-
 alized the composition of exact geographical names of specific places on the map in
 the Smolensk region, in a large part of the Roslavl region where the poet was born.
 Through the semantic environment of onyms, the author’s connotations
 are revealed, which makes it possible to verify the truth of poetic love for the
 native land and people of labor, the famous fellow countrymen of the poet. The
 author’s reading of the poet’s lyrical lines is presented. This material is firstly
 introduced into scientific circulation.

Simulative measures for structure borne sound radiation of composites

Due to the high stiffness-to-weight ratio, composite structures tend to be acoustic sensitive. The sound emission of such radiating components is commonly measured by the sound power requiring the determination of the sound intensity in normal direction and—in numerical simulations—the sound pressure on the radiating surface. Assuming a unit radiation efficiency all-over the surface and neglecting local effects, the equivalent radiated power (ERP) is a common approach for an upper bound of structure borne noise. Therein, the sound power finally results from the squared velocity integrated over the radiating surface and the fluid impedance. As ERP usually requires extra post processing to consider the velocity in normal surface direction, the kinetic energy is essential in common FEA results including all velocity components apart from the normal direction, too. Development of polymeric applications for sodium cooled Fast Breeder Reactors: Chronicles of inception, progress and achievements

The collaborative programme on development of important polymeric applications of Indian FBRs is chronicled from the days of motivation to its present state. Failure of inflatable seals of FBTR RPs (1985) and adoption of all-elastomer sealing concept for PFBR RPs (early 1990s), coupled with the unique characteristics of elastomeric materials, led to inception of the programme at IGCAR (1998) which involved DMSRDE as the first partner (1999). The planned initiative, which eventually involved more than 15 other Indian agencies, resulted in complete development of FKM backup seals for PFBR RPs which has been installed in reactor recently. Coated FKM and EPDM inflatable seals for PFBR and FBTR RPs have been developed, produced and evaluated up to ∼2 m diameter. Development methodologies for other critical polymeric applications of PFBR, FBTR and FCF have been formulated. Accomplishments and novelties of the development include EPDM and FKM compounds and designs for inflatable and backup seals, a common FEA procedure for elastomeric ring seals, PECVD based Teflon-like coating technology up to 7 m seal diameter, seal production process by cold feed extrusion and continuous cure, a robust quality control framework and the new facilities developed to support the programme. Future developments are focused on delivery of validated inflatable seals, life assessment and development of new elastomeric compounds which include silicone rubber and perfluoroelastomer, PECVD based coating on stainless steel and development of adhesionless joining of FKM. The achievements and future research will standardize the design and development of the elastomeric seals of Indian FBRs, PHWRs and AHWR based on a few well-characterized compounds, a common FEA method and PECVD based coating technology which can result in a universal design code.

Temperature influenced variation in the chromosomal behaviour of male and female sex cells in Sunn hemp(Crotalaria junceaLinn., Fabaceae)

Influence of varying temperatures i.e. 31°C, 44.4°C, and 36°C on the :behaviour of chromosomes was studied in the pollen mother cells (pmcs) and em bryo-sac mother cells (ernes) of Crotalaria juncea L. While meiosis in both the sex cells at 31°C was normal with perfect bivalent formation observed in cells at diplo- tene/diakinesis and metaphase-I stages, abnormal meiosis, characterized by the failure of synapsed chromosomes to retain chiasmata at diakinesis and later stages resulting in the formation of varying frequencies of univalents, was a common fea ture at 44.4°C. Interestingly, the felling apart of homologues was found to be spe- ; cific to microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis showed normal synapsis. How ever, with a subsequent fall in temperature to 36°C, all the pmcs restored their nor mal pairing behaviour. The possible causes of such differential behaviour of chro mosomes in the two sex cells and its significance is discussed.
