This article investigates the method of filtering the combustion products using soot samplers, convenient for local measurements in a flow and for studying the kinetics of the process. Explains that the amount of soot settling on the detachable tube and filter was determined by weighing on a WA-34 analytic balance and by burning out the soot in an oxygen stream at 900 C followed by analysis of the amount of CO/sub 2/ on a N-503 chromatograph. Concludes that the data presented indicate the effectiveness of the experimental procedure developed, providing broad possibilities for studying the characteristics of soot formation in flames of homogeneous fuel-air mixtures at high pressures.
