Transverse deflection of cross-ply laminated plates under combined in-plane and lateral loads

The present work deals with the geometrically nonlinear behaviour of simply supported, square and rectangular, antisymmetrically laminated cross-ply plates. The formulation is based on the Mindlin plate theory. The finite element approach is used to solve nonlinear equations. Results are presented for plates subjected to combined uniaxial compression and lateral loads. The effect of the number of lay-ups and the aspect ratio on the load-deflection behaviour is studied and illustrated graphically.

Tests of Reinforced Concrete Plates Under Combined In-Plane and Transverse Loads

The paper presents the results of tests of nine reinforced concrete plates, simply supported along four edges and subjected to combined uniform uniaxial compression and uniform transverse loads. The plates had concrete strengths of 32.2 to 40.3 MPa and were reinforced in two layers in each direction. Square plates and rectangular plates with an aspect ratio of 1.5 were tested. The width-to-thickness ratios varied between 27.3 and 33.
