The meeting of the Outgoing Council of the Paleontological Society (PS) was called to order by President William I. Ausich at 5:08 p.m. on 6 November 2004, in Room 604 of the Colorado Convention Center. Council members Patricia H. Kelley, David J. Bottjer, Mark E. Patzkowsky, Roger D. K. Thomas, Robert A. Gastaldo, Lisa E. Park, Jonathan M. Adrain, William A. DiMichele, Russell D. “Tim” White, Mark A. Wilson, Dale A. Springer, Leif Tapanila, Elizabeth A. Heise, Thomas Olszewski, Craig W. Oyen, and Scott M. Ritter were present. Peter J. Harries, Editor of Priscum , was also present; Mary L. Droser participated in the last part of the meeting. President Ausich presented his report. He thanked those members of Council who were completing their terms of service, including the Coeditors of Paleobiology and three Section chairs. He expressed appreciation for the good work of people who were rotating off various committees, and he announced their replacements. He thanked those officers who were continuing on the Council for their support. These and other acknowledgments are expressed in full in the minutes of the Business meeting. President Ausich congratulated award winners Martin A. Buzas, Peter J. Wagner, and Thomas E. Whiteley, for the record. He noted that plans for NAPC 2005 were on track. The Society had received a grant of $25,125 from the NSF to support travel by students to this meeting. President Ausich thanked Lisa Park and Roger Thomas for their efforts to recruit and retain members. He reported that J-Stor was in the process of making the entire Journal of Paleontology available electronically. This had involved collaboration with SEPM, as the two organizations published the JP as a joint enterprise until 1984. SEPM holds the copyright to the JP up to that date.
