It is heartening to note that the conclusions drawn on brain tumor complicating pregnancy may also be applied to breast cancer in pregnancy. He also presents useful data on “breast cancer, pregnancy and therapy”. However, his comments regarding delay in diagnosis of breast cancer during pregnancy, thought to be related to the breast changes which normally occur during pregnancy and not to any hormonal or other influence, are difficult to comprehend. Physiological changes in the breast are largely hormonal, especially during pregnancy. It is therefore not surprising that breast cancer is also hormone-dependent. Sex hormone receptors [2] are well known in breast cancers and review of the recent literature suggests that such sex hormone receptors are also noted in various brain tumors (i.e., meningiomas and acoustic neuromas) [3]. The findings of sex hormone receptors in brain tumors have opened a new field of further research in the understanding of the biohumoral behavior of the neoplastic process and their hormonal modulation or manipulation [4]. We hope that in the future, hormonal manipulation of brain tumors may become a routine adjuvant therapy.ARTICLE REFERENCES:1. Sharma RR, Chandy MJ, Lad SD.
