The objective of this study is to examine and design a sidewall for a circular water tank resting on the ground with varying outer wall thickness 200 mm, 300 mm, and 400 mm and its comparison using manual method and STAAD Pro. An independent sample t-test was taken of two groups. Group 1 is a control group having 9 manual samples and a second group containing 9 samples (STAAD Pro). The total number of sample sizes was obtained accurately as 18 and the analysis and design were done using manual and STAAD Pro. An independent sample t-test on two groups showed that there was no statistically significant difference in shear stress, bending moment, and deflection, with p-value, is p = 0.44, p = 0.45, and p = 0.88 (p > 0.05) and G power is 50 and alpha (0.05). It is concluded that STAAD Pro with less effort gives the same results as if it is designed according to IS code provisions. So STAAD Pro is an efficient tool to model, analyze and design these thin-walled structures.
