A family is reported in which two sons became transsexual (not merely homosexual or males with varying amounts of effeminacy). Both children were similar in that they were perceived by their mother at birth and in infancy as being beautiful; in both cases, the mother established and maintained a very close physical relationship lasting for years, while the father, who might have interrupted the symbiosis and served as an object for masculine identification, was absent. This unique relationship is like those reported in the past for but one male child per family and leading to male transsexualism.
