Advancing Teacher Competencies through Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC): Insights from SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu City

Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC) is a collaborative approach designed to enhance the quality of teaching and learning by addressing the professional development needs of both teachers and students. This study analyzes the cognitive understanding and practical abilities of teachers at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu City (SMPM 8) in implementing LSLC. The objectives include evaluating teachers’ knowledge and competencies related to LSLC, assessing progress in planning, conducting, and reflecting on LSLC-based activities through pre-test and post-test assessments, and providing foundational insights into the effectiveness of LSLC implementation for future improvement. This descriptive study, conducted from August 2023 to April 2024, involved 10 teachers actively engaged in LSLC activities. Data were collected using questionnaires, observations, written tests, and document analysis and analyzed descriptively. The results indicate significant improvements in teachers' cognitive understanding and practical implementation of LSLC, with average scores increasing from 58 (pre-test) to 88 (post-test). These findings underscore the effectiveness of LSLC workshops in enhancing teacher competencies, particularly in collaborative planning, student engagement, and reflective practices. The study offers initial insights into teachers’ knowledge of LSLC, which can inform the development of targeted professional development programs. It also highlights effective strategies for scaling LSLC practices to other schools and contributes to the broader understanding of LSLC's impact on teacher development and learning quality, providing evidence to inform educational policy at local and district levels.

Development of Potato Chip Cluster Supply Chain Institutional Model with The Integration of ISM (Interpretive Structural Modeling) and ANP (Analytic Network Process)

Increasing the productivity of potato chip in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the institutional model is significantly strengthening the economy of Batu City, especially as a tourist destination city. The institutional model ensures the smooth operation of supply chain activities due to the interactions between the actors, facilitating coordination, information sharing, and integration from upstream to downstream. This model can be used to improve the performance. To improve the performance, supply chain of potato chip MSMEs cluster faces several challenges including a limited supply of raw materials and finished products, price fluctuations, non-optimal drying processes, and inconsistent quality. Therefore, the study aimed to conduct a holistic evaluation and improvement method on the interconnected constraints to enhance supply chain’s performance. The integration of Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) methods was applied to observe interactions between key elements in development of supply chain institutional potentials and to prioritize development strategies. The results showed that the key elements that influenced development of the organizations related to labor capability, diversity of raw material quality, the potential for collaboration relationships, minimizing the risk of drying during the rainy season, and participation of various actors. Based on the largest WANP weight value (0.230), the primary strategy for supply chain development in the SME cluster was the implementation of digital-based marketing. Furthermore, improving the institutional performance model of potato chip MSMEs cluster supply chain included the participation of internal and external quality assurance organizations in the product quality audit process. Ensuring product quality consistency through these audits would support digital-based marketing and help mitigate issues related to product quality and supply consistency.

An Analysis of Alternative Strategy Model for Agroindustry Business Development of Crystal Guava in Malang Raya

PT. Kreasi Tani Bumiaji is agroindustry company located in Banaran, Bumiaji Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City, East Java. This company focuses on processing agricultural products in the form of crystal guava and becomes a superior local product. This study aimed at analyzing alternative strategy of agroindustry business development of crystal guava as a product in PT. Kreasi Tani Bumiaji. Descriptive-quantitative method was used to collect the primary data from interviews and questionnaire items. Eight participants from the company were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The secondary data were obtained from academic articles. The data were analyzed by using SWOT analysis, Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) Matrix, External Factor Evaluation (EFE) Matrix, Internal-External (IE) Matrix, and QSPM. The results of analysis showed that main internal factor is diversification of processed products with the score 0.277. Meanwhile, external factor is internship collaboration with the score 0.418. The position of company in IE matrix lies on the fifth cell which showed that stable growth with coordinate scores 2.930; 2.594. According to 15 alternative strategies identified using SWOT analysis, prioritized strategy based on QSPM analysis refers to business partnership with investors for the development of production facilities, business concept, and marketing with the highest score 7.23.

The Strategy of Agroindustry Development of Teng-Teng Apel (A Case Study on Hilwa Nusantara Shop in Batu City)

This study is conducted by purpose of identifying company environment and analyzing the strategy for agroindustry development of Teng-Teng Apel (cake made from apple fruit) in Hilwa Nusantara Shop in Batu City. The methods of data analysis used in this study are internal and external company analysis, Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) Matrix, External Factor Evaluation (EFE), SWOT analysis, and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis. The results of the study have showed that SWOT analysis indicates IFAS score 2.84 and EFAS value 2.94. Moreover, agroindustry position of Teng-Teng Apel of Hilwa Nusantara Shop is at Quadrant One (I). Based on company position, there are three alternative strategies, 1. To increase production capacity and quality using technology, 2. To extend market in developing sales volume, and 3. To maintain relationship and trust with raw material suppliers. First becomes first priority for Hilwa Nusantara with TAS value 5.49.

Integrated pest management farmer field school of Chinese cabbage for young farmers in Batu City

The Abinaya Milenial Youth Farmers Group in Sumber Brantas Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City, faces significant challenges in cultivating Chinese cabbage due to a high incidence of clubroot disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae, with infection rates reaching 50–80 percent, leading to crop failure. The overuse of synthetic pesticides has resulted in pathogen resistance. Therefore, we adopted an integrated pest management (IPM) approach focusing on long-term prevention by integrating ecologically-based control techniques. The principles of IPM include managing healthy plants, preserving natural enemies, monitoring, and enhancing farmers' ecological understanding to become IPM experts. Through the IPM Farmer Field School (IPM-FFS), we aimed to implement ecological IPM, improve agroecosystem health, and support sustainable agriculture through participatory extension methods. Activities were conducted from June to November 2023 in Sumber Brantas Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. The activities included surveys, planning, socialization, teaching, training, and follow-up. The IPM-FFS successfully developed standard operating procedures for Chinese cabbage management, increasing farmers' knowledge of IPM by 85 percent. The adoption of IPM reduced the incidence of clubroot disease to 20 percent, increased production by 420 kg, and reduced production costs by IDR 403,000 on an area of 400 m2. Farmers independently produce compost, compost tea, botanical pesticides, mycorrhizae, and fungicides through the IPM-FFS, empowering them in sustainable agriculture.

The Impact of Work Motivation and Work Environment towards Employee Performance with Job Satisfaction as Intervening Variable (Case in Kaliwatu Basecamp Center, Batu City)

This research aims to describes and analyze the effects of work motivation and work environment on employee performance through job satisfaction. This research was conducted at the Kaliwatu Basecamp Center Batu and the sample used in this research were all 65 employees. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire and the data analysis technique used is path analysis. The results of this research indicate that there is an effect of work motivation and work environment on employee performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable at Kaliwatu Basecamp Center Batu, both direct and indirect influence. This research can prove that the job satisfaction variable can be a mediating variable for work motivation and work environment on employee performance.

Batu city bawaslu strategy in preventing political money in the 2024 election

The aim of this research is to broaden understanding in political education and expand knowledge in Pancasila and citizenship education. Because Indonesia is a country that adheres to a democratic system which is carried out through elections and regional elections, the main aim of the research is how to find out problems in elections, namely money politics which is used as a tool in winning contestations. And what is the role and response of the community to money politics, as well as to find out regulatory weaknesses that cause weak election law enforcement. The method used in this research uses descriptive qualitative and legal and regulatory instruments to strengthen credible data, and obtains data through interviews with Batu City Bawaslu commissioners. The results prove that society is very indifferent to electoral developments and problems, as well as the weakness of applicable laws and regulations. Bawaslu increases participatory supervision to maintain the quality of democracy

Implementing Agile Scrum Methodology in the Development of SMART PEKAN at Batu City Environment Service

The preparation of reports on the activities of the functional position group for the Batu City Environmental Service is still being carried out in the usual way. Making announcements on activities at any time must begin by creating a new page. That matter could be more effective and efficient because the structure of each activity report is the same. This research aims to develop a report creation system whose workings make it easier for users to create activity reports. The system makes the activity reports according to users needs based on the information obtained during interviews and observation. The system is developed using the Agile framework with the Scrum method. This research produces SMART PEKAN (Functional Position Group Activity Report Creation System), a website that makes reports on Functional Position Group activities using automatic report templates. SMART PEKAN can be a tool that facilitates making reports on the activities of users by utilizing the progress of an existing technology to implement digital transformation in the government sector to support the Smart City movement. The Association Between Knowledge of Hypertension and Compliance with Antihypertensive Medication on Prospective Hajj Pilgrims

Background: Indonesia is the most significant contributor to Hajj pilgrims, with health risks that are still relatively high, one of which is Hypertension. Lack of knowledge about Hypertension is an obstacle to controlling Hypertension. In addition, half of hypertension-related deaths could be prevented by compliance with taking antihypertensive medication. Objective: This study sought to determine the association between prospective Hajj pilgrims' compliance with medication and their knowledge of hypertension in 2023 who suffer from Hypertension in Batu City. Method: The research used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design. The sample for this research was 39 Prospective Hajj pilgrims, and total sampling was taken. Result: The results of the study on Prospective Hajj pilgrims who suffer from Hypertension in Batu City showed that the majority of their knowledge about Hypertension was in a good category, 23 people (59.0%), the level of compliance with taking medication was in the low sort 24 people (61.5%); There was no correlation between medication adherence and knowledge of hypertension (p-value 0.185). Conclusion: Non-compliance with taking medication prospective Hajj pilgrims in Batu City can be changed by regularly providing education about the importance of taking medication and the risks that can arise if they do not regularly take hypertension medication

Analyzing Entertainment Tax Impact on Batu City's Regional Revenue and Taxpayer Compliance Levels

Entertainment tax is one of the sources of revenue for local governments. This study aims to examine the contribution of entertainment tax to Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in Batu City. The research method used is qualitative descriptive using object data at the Batu City Regional Finance Agency. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Batu City's tax financial statements from 2020 to 2022 are tax revenues for the entertainment sector. In 2020, the contribution reached 12.42%, while in 2021, the contribution decreased to 8.89% and in 2022, the contribution decreased to 12.78%. Although the data has decreased and increased, it shows that the entertainment tax in Batu City has a lack of contribution to the Regional Original Revenue (PAD). The government needs to monitor the potential of taxes and conduct socialization so that this contribution can increase. In order to increase the effectiveness of entertainment tax revenue, the Batu City Regional Revenue Office needs to provide socialization to the public regarding entertainment tax rates and calculation methods.

Prevalence and Risk Factor of Repeat Breeder Syndrome in Dairy Cows in KUD Bebarengan Anggayuh Tentrem Urip, Batu City, East Java Province

This study aims to contribute valuable insights to readers and serve as a reference for dairy farmers looking to enhance their operations. By examining the prevalence and risk factors associated with repeat breeder syndrome in dairy cows within the Village Unit Cooperation (KUD) Bebarengan Anggayuh Tentrem Urip, Batu City, East Java Province, this study aims to aid in preventing such occurrences and ultimately improve dairy cow productivity. The survey method was employed, utilizing data sourced from cooperative and farmer records, as well as observations, interviews, and questionnaire responses. Analysis revealed that out of 50 farmers owning a total of 281 cows, 30 farmers possessed a combined total of 58 dairy cows classified as repeat breeders. Consequently, the prevalence rate of repeat breeders among farmers was found to be 20.64%. Descriptive analysis was conducted on the collected data, with additional SPSS Chi-Square (X²) analysis performed to identify risk factors associated with repeat breeders. These risk factors include breeder experience, knowledge of reproduction and estrus phases, communication with artificial inseminators and veterinarians, housing conditions, as well as factors related to livestock feed and water.

This study aims to learn about the influence of price and facilities on visiting decisions at Batu Love Garden (BALOGA) Batu City. The data type in this study is quantitative, with the population who were the visitors of Batu Love Garden (BALOGA) Batu City with a sample of 100 respondents. The data analysis techniques include validity and reliability test, classical assumptions, and simple regression analysis. In this case, price and facilities is the independent variable, and visiting decisions are the dependent variable. The result of this study suggest that price and facilities had a positive and significant effect on visiting decisions.

Policy Conflict Framework: Analisis Konflik Pembangunan Wisata Alam Alaska di Kota Batu

A decision in the form of public policy is prone to conflict. This can be caused by many factors, such as target groups who do not need or benefit from policies. Policy conflicts are related to many interests in determining and enforcing policies. Conflicts in tourism involve many stakeholders with diverse values and complex interaction dynamics. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The conflict occurred during the development of Kasinan pedestal nature tourism, known as Alaska tourism, located in Pesanggrahan Village, Batu District, Batu City. Through the perspective of the Policy Conflict Framework (PCF), it can be analyzed related to the nature of conflict from the groups involved, the intensity of conflict, the causes of conflict in terms of context and process, and feedback consisting of output and outcome. Based on the PCF, this conflict is a mixed conflict with moderate conflict intensity caused by the desire between actors to compromise with each other.

This study examines the implementation and impact of the Among Tani application, a digital platform designed to support farmers in Batu City, Indonesia, as part of a broader smart city initiative. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research investigates the diffusion process of the application, its role as a virtual communication medium, and its effects on organizational structures within farmer groups. The study reveals a staged adoption process influenced by factors such as farmer age and crop vulnerability. While the application has enhanced access to agricultural information and improved pest management, challenges including the digital divide and integration with traditional practices persist. The findings highlight the complex interplay between digital innovation and existing agricultural systems, emphasizing the need for context-sensitive approaches in implementing agricultural technologies. This research contributes to the understanding of digital agriculture's potential in supporting sustainable rural development and provides insights for future smart city initiatives in agricultural contexts.

Implementation of Lesson Study in Improving Creative Thinking and Student Learning Outcomes in Social Sciences Subjects

There is a Japanese teacher professional development model that effectively improves the quality of learning, namely Lesson Study. This research aims to analyze the impact of implementing lesson study on improving creative thinking and student learning outcomes in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects at MTsN Batu City. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The research subjects were students of class VIII MTsN Batu City. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and learning outcomes tests. The research results show that lesson study significantly improves students' creative thinking abilities and learning outcomes. Qualitative Findings: Observations revealed increased student participation in group discussions and submission of new ideas. Teachers report that collaboration in lesson planning allows them to design more interactive and engaging strategies. Interviews with students showed increased confidence and engagement in exploring social studies concepts. Quantitative Findings: Test results show significant improvements in students' academic achievement. The student's average score on the initial test of 75 increased to 85 on the final test, with the t-test showing that this difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). This demonstrates that lesson study has increased students' understanding and mastery of social studies material.

The study aims to determine the magnitude of the potential for regional income and independence arek region in East Java Province in 2017 – 2021, by calculating the Location Quotient analysis, the degree of fiscal decentralization, and the regional fiscal capacity index. The results of the LQ calculation show that Batu City has the highest LQ in other service sectors. Analysis of the highest degree of fiscal decentralization and regional fiscal capacity index is owned by Surabaya City. The research results recommend that local governments need to optimize their economic potential as a source of tax revenue, increase local own-source revenue (PAD) so that they’re not dependent on transfers from central government, and increase regional capabilities by expanding a new tax base to finance government spending.

Relationship Between Level of Maternal Knowledge about Nutrition of Pregnant Women with the Incidence of Stunting in Children Under Five

ABSTRACT Stunting can be caused by several factors, including poor nutritional intake during pregnancy in toddlers. Some of them are readiness to become mothers where this is motivated by a very high rate of early marriage. Unpreparedness in facing motherhood can affect perceptions in parenting. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about nutrition of pregnant women with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Sisir Village, Batu City with a cross-sectional analytical descriptive design involving 56 respondents consisting of maternal respondents and toddlers aged 1-5 years with purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected with maternal knowledge level questionnaires during pregnancy and z score graphs. Results: Data analysis using Spearman Rank test with α = 0.05. The results showed that the significance value (sig) or p value was 0.009. Because the value of sig (0.009) > (0.05) with a correlation value of 0.347, the results of the data obtained from respondents mean h0 rejected h1 accepted. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of parents and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The results of the study concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of parents and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Discussion: In Batu city comb sub-district. It is hoped that mothers can try to find knowledge and information related to nutrition and other factors that can cause stunting, and mothers can start paying attention to nutrition during pregnancy for preventive measures against the impact of stunting on the development of the next child at birth.
